4 Brit driver killed when his car allegedly gets the cruise control stuck at max speed and he told police via phone he could not turn off the cruise control. I have been in two cars, both high performance cars, that the gas pedal became stuck on the floor when the driver accelerated. In both cases the car was stopped by switching off the ignition. Also, in both cases the cause of the failure was the carburetor throttle arm becoming stuck in the spark plug wires. Also in both cases you would not believe the back-firing shutting off the engine caused. I would say with all cars now being fuel injected getting the accelerator stuck on the floor should not be possible. However, if something happens, shut the ignition off.

7 A smattering of details on Trump's proposed tax plans. Fox does not appear to like them. They do everything but call them "tax cuts for the wealthy" which is always a Democrat talking point. There really isn't enough detail here to say exactly what it will mean for the middle class.

Personally. I would prefer that we go to a flat tax of 10% on all income regardless of source with no deductions or offsets. And that 10% to include withholding for SS so that it is a true 10% tax. To offset the loss of some of the SS tax I would eliminate totally the corrupt disability program which is rife with fraud. Also, income being defined as wages, dividends, interest earnings, retirement pay, or net profit. Yes, a lot of that 53% who pay no taxes and all those who draw that Democrat welfare known as the EIC would get hit. Too bad. I would be willing to give them a better break if we could get a Constitutional amendment saying "no taxes no vote". Would also need an amendment that limited total spending to the amount collected the previous year in taxes unless we have a Congress declared war. (And that does not include a "war on poverty" or any other welfare program)

The federal government (and states) should pass laws saying that any participant in a demonstration may be assessed with the entire costs of cleaning up the spaces used for the demonstration.

Then, at every demonstration, take lots and lots of photos of the demonstrators. After they leave a huge mess, target a few of them for the clean-up costs.

Once a few of these assholes get slapped with bills for $100k or more to clean up these messes, there won't be so many messes in the future.

That would have had to be done by the feds since they were camping on federal property. Since Obama was "letting" them they would walk. And if they were on private property it would take a civil action and the most the courts could do is a bench warrant. Since the "protestors" were mostly all from out of State they would walk. A bench warrant is no good out of State.

Allowing somebody to protest on federal lands does not give them license to leave behind a trash dump that has to be cleaned up at significant taxpayer expense.

And the law obviously would not apply to private property, as people can do on private property whatever the owner allows them to do. And if it's private property, who cares if it gets trashed anyway, since taxpayers won't have to pay to clean it up.

The more serious problem a law like that would face is that it could be invalidated as an unconstitutional infringement on the right of free speech. Even somebody who wasn't involved in trashing the site could be hit with the bill for clean-up, which would make people fearful of taking part in protests, since doing so could subject them to potentially ruinous fines.

No it doesn't, but Obama gave them leave to do anything they wanted, whether it was against the law or not.
As for private property if the owner allowed them there is no case. If he didn't again a civil action would have to be filed.
And no, the first amendment does not give "protestors" the right to camp out on public or private property illegally. The can exercise their "rights" on public property that is open to the public as long as it is within reason.

66 I have just checked the "recount laws" in SC. A recount is mandatory if the vote between two candidates falls to 1% or less. There are NO provisions for a candidate to demand a recount because they want one. For primaries there is a required runoff for the top two candidate if neither gets 50% or more of the count. That propaganda about Cuba's "superior" medical system is nothing but bullshit. Cubans get lousy medical care. Even those at the top, like Castro. He had several botched surgeries in Cuba for his diverticulitis, and ended up having to go to Madrid to get competent diagnosis and treatment.

And here's another example: in 1993, there was an epidemic of blindness in Cuba. Tens of thousands of Cubans went blind, and Cuba's medical community didn't know what was causing it. It was an American neurologist, Dr. Maurice Victor, who correctly diagnosed the problem. He figured out that it was a thiamine deficiency that was causing the blindness, and that deficiency was due to the chronic malnutrition that so many Cubans were suffering from. That's the kind of fabulous care that Cubans get in their "workers' paradise."

Brought my Mom back from the hospital yesterday. She checked out on all tests, the last a chemical stress tests, and her meds regimen will be tweaked to address her new condition. She had suffered a mild myocardial infarction Wednesday afternoon.

She missed out on Thanksgiving at her home. We saved her some pumpkin pie, which pleased her. We also left out those dishes and utensils whose storage locations we did not know and it pleased her (really) to put things back in their proper places. Gotta love her!

A GOP recount specialist (on FNC yesterday) (he was on chad-watch in Florida in 2000) says he's looking to see if the Dems stall the counts to try and prevent the electors from the three states from being certified and counted. This I assume could leave everyone short of 270 and leave it to Ryan in the House. It's a good thing Trump has spent a lot of his time mending fences, looking Presidential and growing his favorability.

Wisconsin Supreme court (being mainly GOP)could stop the count if it means they won't count in the electors tally. Not sure about Michigan and PA. The Secs of State could be important in the mix.
