Wednesday Night ONT - A Little of This, A Little of That

Ladies and gentlemen, hobos and tramps, cross-eyed mosquitoes and bow-legged ants. I come before you to stand behind you to tell you something I know nothing about. Admission is free, so pay at the door, pull up a chair and sit on the floor.

One bright day in the middle of the night, two dead boys arose to fight. Back to back they faced each other, drew swords and shot each other. A deaf policeman heard the noise, and came to kill those two dead boys. If you do not believe that this lie is true, ask the blind man. He saw it too.

MOOO!

Cows can now text farmers when they're sick. Short video at link, pretty neat use of technology, I think.

Bet those cows wish they could text for help. Good news though, the stranded cows have been rescued.

Also, Live bull set on fire in ‘barbaric’ festival secretly filmed by protesters (GRAPHIC VIDEO)

The Toro de Jubilo (Joy of the Bull) tradition, dating back at least 400 years, takes place in the Spanish village of Medinaceli, about 160km (100 miles) north-east of Madrid. During the event, a bull is forcibly tied to a post as lumps of flammable tar are spread on its horns. The tar is then set on fire and the terrified animal released, thrashing around the square while spectators cheer and blow horns. Afterwards the bull is taken to a slaughterhouse and killed.

I am probably the furthest thing from a animal rights idiot. Frankly, PETA is an anomaly made possible by a supremely wealthy society. Chickens are food, steak is delicious and lobsters are tasty insects. 99% of what PETA does is unearned virtue signaling and mush-brained objection to the way the world is. That being said, “tradition” or no, there is no reason for people in the 21st century to torture a poor bull like this. My people had a “tradition” of burning accused witches at the stake. We outgrew it.

Evil

I don't know how long this will last, Twitter is trying pretty aggressively to scrub the video from their website and I haven't found a non-Twitter source yet. This clip is from an old episode of 60 minutes. It shows George Soros explaining that he felt he did nothing wrong by taking the property of Jews sent to the camps, because if he didn't take it, “somebody else would have”.

Supermoon

I've been enjoying the supermoon for the past few nights. Monday night I sat out at the firepit with a good book and a cold beer, a nice fire burning in front of me, temps in the mid 40s and the light from the moon blazing down through the trees. It was almost bright enough to read by. It was a wonderful, relaxing evening. I didn't notice this, however.

Curling

Canada’s Gay Curling Leagues Take Pride on Ice

Curling is an interesting sport. Whenever I'm in Canada, I find myself watching and enjoying it despite myself. I don't know why. I just start watching and before long an hour or two has gone by. I'm not sure about the linked article. I think someone overheard a bunch of gay dudes in a room yelling “HURRY! HARD!” and asked them what they were doing. “Uh...curling. Yea. We were curling”.

Problematic

Buzzfeed is feeling a buzz kill over United's “Basic Economy” class

Really, what is it with these people? It's a voluntary transaction. If some people want to pay less and give up co-seating or carry on luggage, what business is it of Buzzfeed's? United wouldn't be selling these options if there wasn't demand for them. I've got an idea: Let's re-regulate the airlines. Primo service, plush seats, good food. That ought to fix things! Only problem is that many people (like Buzzfeed writers) won't be able to afford to fly anymore. Wait, is that really a problem? Hmmmm.

Musical Interlude

OK, stay with me for a minute here. Yes, I know that it's William Shatner, and “William Shatner singing” is a phrase that ranks right up there with “Novocaine-free dentistry” in most people's minds. This is a cover of a song by the British alt rock group Pulp about rich people slumming because it's trendy, and Shatner just NAILS it. His delivery, and the barely disguised contempt the singer obviously feels for the rich girl he's banging, is far superior to the original. Second, it's a perfect song for all of the spoiled brats who are protesting feeling “unsafe” in their $50,000/year Ivy League playpens because Donald Trump won the election. Finally, the linked video was done by a Star Trek fan who put the music to clips from the original series, and he or she did a fantastic job. In 3 or 4 places s/he even manages to match the words of the song to dialogue from the Star Trek footage, so that it looks like Captain Kirk is actually singing the song. Just watch it and see if you don't agree.

Iggy Azalea Says She Has The 'Best Vagina In The World'

I only include this codswallop because I have to admire the, er, creative use of euphemism mixed with double entendre used in the article. (Warning: Mild pics of under-boob at the link)

Iggy Azalea wants you to know that she has a bomb-ass punani. In fact, she believes that she has the "best vagina in the world." Iggy opened up her lips to boast about her swagadocious hot pocket in a comment that is sure to cause tongues to wag

Much more (and less) at the link.

7 Every now and then you experience something that's a true "What were they thinking" moment.

I mean, for me as an ITsec guy, the last six months has been nothing but WWTT when it comes to the Democrats and the media failing to grok just how serious her mailserver crimes were.

But this one's interesting as well:

http://www.militarymodelling.com/sites/1/images/article_images_month/2013-04/392-7.jpg

What we have here is a full on upper/lower arm coil spring suspension - parallel, so don't go road-racing it - on a towed heavy anti-tank gun. Okay, maybe that was the BEST way to do it, but the guys who were welding up and bolting up all those pieces were guys who were not getting the NEXT gun down the line, and in the end the Wehrmacht ended up towing most of them with horses, so WTF did it really matter?

Have spent the last week quietly digesting all the postelection hullabaloo. IMAGINE Hillary's America where sites like this would be spied on, its denizens subject to harrassment and audits, etc. She was (sic!) such a paranoid freak and giving her that power would have destroyed our rights as we know them. And bye bye to a free and open Internet.

Libs crying, media freaking out, Hillary sobbing in a corner somewhere throwing lamps -- life is good.

130 If some people want to pay less and give up co-seating or carry on luggage, what business is it of Buzzfeed's?

++++

Actually, it hurts a bit to say this, but I'm on Buzzfeed's side on this one. They are just reporting on United's newest offering: Basic Economy Class, or as Buzzfeed calls it, Misery Class. Nowhere in the piece does Buzzfeed say that United should be prevented from offering this service, or that the government should get involved. They just offer their opinion that it is a miserable experience.

The only thing I find objectionable is the headline:
United Has A New "Basic Economy" Ticket And It's An Insult To Human Dignity

I would say the "Insult to human dignity" bit is over the top, but hey, it's Buzzfeed. Over the top is their market niche.

One June morning in the middle of May,
Two dead boys went out to play.

Drew their swords and shot each other.

Came and shot the two dead boys.
If you don't believe my tale,
Ask the blind man-he saw it all!

It fits a pattern.

When someone thinks they're above the law or in total control of a group, they seek to break taboos and see how far they can go.

I think that's why so many cults end up with leaders that molest kids, because they can and they believe no one will say anything for fear of being kicked out of or killed by the cult.

So it would follow that a bunch of people who so far have damn near literally been "above the law" would be trafficking and molesting kids. Any snitches would have to know this group would certainly kill them.

Not saying it's true, just that it fits.

240 Yeah, Nikki Haley did diss Trump way back. They let her do the response to Barky's SOTU speech, saying something about resisting the siren call of the loud and angry voices. She endorsed Rubio for our Primary, and of course Trump won bigly. There was speculation Rubio might give her the VP slot if he won the nomination.

She endorsed Mittens back during the '12 primaries, and Newt won if you recall.

In reading some of the old stories about this, I had to laugh. The conventional wisdom was still that Trump was a buffoon and wasn't going to win a single primary. And they worried the ticket might be Rubio/Haley, and dissing Trump supporters might make them less inclined to support Rubio, who would be the likely nominee.

Very fun to read.

My problem with Nikki is the Rebel Battle flag thing. She gave a speech when she (and the leg) banned it from State property. The content of the speech was bizarre and stupid. really stupid. It went something like, "I know many will see this as burying history and disrespecting our forefathers but the idea that this flag represents offends our citizens and immigrants. The notion that future immigrants to our Country won't respect our history and culture is patently false. As a first generation immigrant I am proud to remove this symbol of discrimination and hate."
I mean really. Just completely too stupid to understand what she was saying.
My forefathers killed each other in that war.

265 United's 'Basic Economy' sounds like Spirit Airlines, which I recently flew from Baltimore to Orlando. On Spirit you pay for every little thing. The basic fare was $44. $30 for a checked bag. $35 for a carry-on. More money if you want to select your seat. More money if you check-in at the airport and not online.

Not everyone is going to like this model, but it worked for me. With taxes, my one-way fare was $88 for me and my suitcase, about the same as a Southwest flight and the Spirit flight was more convenient. It was freeing to not lug a carry-on through the airport and on the plane. Despite not paying to reserve a seat I got an aisle seat and had plenty of legroom.

I wouldn't want to fly Spirit every time, especially on a long flight, but I appreciated paying a rock-bottom fare for a 2-hour flight. If people don't want United's Basic Economy, they won't buy it. What's Buzzfeed's problem?

282 People get perspective distortion when they see pictures of girls like KBDaBear puts up on the ONT and start thinking they are normal. They are not normal - they are all professional photographic models who are 9s and above. If the average man saw a woman who looked like that in real life he would go cross eyed staring at her.

One of my models competes in Hooters Bikini contests - she took 3rd in
the Texas competition - I have heard hundreds of men go crazy when she
walks on stage, and when you see her in person she is just a breath
taking knockout. Maybe one woman in 5000 looks as good as she does. But
if I posted a picture of her for all of you to look at nobody would go berserk - the reaction
would be lukewarm because of perspective distortion.

Look, I know we dislike these women because of their ugly politics - however appearance wise Lena Dunham is a 5 - she is a normal average looking woman. Sarah Silverman is a solid 7.5 and Katy Perry is an 8.8 or so. If you were at a party with hundreds of people Sarah Silverman would be the best looking woman in the room. Maybe one woman in 25,000 looks as good as Katy Perry.

Baloney on those "Average Woman" pictures. Those are all women at the peak of their looks at age 25. The average woman is about 40 and over weight. Don't believe me? Go anywhere where there are lots of people and look - you won't see very many who look as good as those "average women". The problem is that most men simply don't look at the appearance of the older women in a crowd. Simply another form of perspective distortion.

Apples and bowling balls.

The point of that site is to compare differences in the looks of different ethnicities.

The software, a modern version of the technique that anthropologist Sir Francis Galton pioneered in the late 19th century, asks the user to define a dozen points on their face, which makes it possible to determine an average face when comparing all of the photos in the database. Below, the general looks of different women, according to the site. Don't worry if you don't match up to the average-the composites that made up the averages tend to be more attractive than each individual photo, because blemishes are ruled out.

Dunham does not have a goiter on her neck. No huge wart on her forehead. She hasn't had all her teeth knocked out because someone hit her in the face with a cast iron pan. There are women who have these deformities. so you have to put Dunham higher than that. I'd say a 3 or 4.

No. The determination of whether any act is impeachable - criminal or not - is totally up to the House. There is no law governing what is or is not impeachable. "High crimes and misdemeanors" is really a term of art in the Constitution. It means whatever the present House says it means.

Although it is staged that way, the candidates do not get a total free hand in choosing their running mate. The real power lies with the delegates to the convention, so the nominee has to choose someone who will be acceptable. I think Pence was intended as insurance. The GOP wanted someone who they could live with if Trump got too out of control for their taste and they went down the impeachment road.

That's why I was half hoping he would name Palin. Just for the heads exploding fun. Although I like her, I think she would have hurt Trump's chances in the general. Pence did a good job of assuaging some people's fear about the danger of Trump.

I was trying to hold out until I could redo my kitchen, but I think I found a replacement stove for under $500, so I'm going to buy it, if it's still at the Sear's scratch and dent store tomorrow.

I remember those. A common feature of older homes in Calgary was "milk chutes". A small door in the wall nest to the front door, with an offset inner door behind it. Room for 2-3 quarts of milk. Milk placed there wouldn't freeze in sub-zero weather, and was out of the hot Summer sun, too. Offset doors meant it was near impossible to reach through the milk chute to unlock the main door.

And laundry chutes. My house has one in the bathroom.

Scotch and soda, mud in your eye
Baby do I feel high
Oh me oh my
Do I feel high.

Dry martini, jigger of gin
Oh what a spell you've got me in
Oh my, do I feel high.

People won't believe me
They'll think that I'm just braggin'
But I could feel the way I do
And still be on the wagon.

All I need is one of your smiles
Sunshine of your eye
Oh me oh my
Do I feel higher than a kite can fly
Give me love and baby I feel high.

My washer and dryer are in the basement, and I don't mind that. Toting laundry is a small burden. But I do have a 75-foot clothesline out back, and just a month ago renewed the wire, which had rusted and parted.. I use it, weather permitting, year-round.

some female that had not aged well came up to me and told me my shirt was inappropriate, so i laughed at her and cited the 1st Amendment

then she asked me if i didn't think the word "Young" was ageist... i replied "How could it be ageist? she is a very sick old lady, and i say that as a crippled old veteran...."

she walked away steaming, as the usual tactics didn't w*rk at all...

but the best part was when she was called up to speak: *her* first name was Hillary too. #Winning!

Just today I saw that a house that is very close to being my "dream house" (due to its unique and unusual and unbeatable location) just came on the market. It is a miserable little shack, which is perfect in theory, because in real estate one always wants to buy "the worst house in the best location" to get maximal value. A miserable little shack ought to cost a lot less.

BUT...this is the goddamn Bay Area, so this miserable little shack, which would barely be worth $200,00 max anywhere else in the country, is LISTED at $1.8 million. Even I was totally shocked, and I'm used to Bay Area prices. They're selling the unimproved structure at the price it would be worth if you tore it down and build a mansion on that spot.

I have the feeling they will never get $1.8 for it, or even anything close. But it also means that my dream house is way out of reach. That's California for ya. There are no more hidden treasures in real estate -- literally everything is overpriced.

I'm a vegetarian and proud of it -- and yet I'm also an off-the-charts right-winger by most people's reckoning.

But I never ever proselytize for vegetarianism. It's merely my personal choice. Yes, like you, I could never kill an animal for food, but mostly I just feel healthier not eating meat. But at my laissez-fair small-l-libertarian core, I know that it is not my role to monitor nor care what other people eat. So, when I'm with meat-eaters, I always say, Go right ahead, eat all the meat you want, right in front of me -- I don't care. This shocks most people, because they're so used to being lectured by asshole vegans around here.

A friend of mine was in your situation, living in a similar kind of house as yours, also in San Francisco, also obtained long long ago for very little money. But she just got divorced, and the place now had bad memories, and she wanted to move into a smaller place, so she decided to sell it.

Which she did.

Then she unexpectedly quit her job. And yet was very happy.

She was very cagey about the sale price, but of course I was able to look it up online.

It was a pretty ugly, cramped house, but in an up-and-coming "trendy" neighborhood, and I saw that she got...$1.6 million for it, straight up. AND she had no mortgage -- it was fully paid off.

$1.6 million. Suddenly I understood why she quite her job. She moved into a cheap rented apartment she got through a friend-connection. She basically told me she's now set for life.

504 First off, that Soros video is really bad. The guy has a creepy smile spreading over his face as he talks about going out scavenging property. I am sure it was far more than that, but what he admits to, and the absolute absence of remorse is horrifying.

Since Pizzagate got brought up above, if your primary money source is an evil fuck like Soros, I would not be surprised to find Hillary and her minions involved in sexual trafficking. The Podesta's are a sick pair, who buys a sculpture of a Jeffrey Dahmer victim? It is the 8 foot mockup of a decapitated body, a young man Dahmer slaughtered, beheaded and posed so he could take a picture for the memory. Tony Podesta calls it a conversation piece.

Comet pizza has the Islamic star and crescent. The other pizza joint Besta Pizza edited their logo to remove the shape that the FBI has connected to pedophilia. Another joint on the same street as the two pizza restaurants has a symbol which "coincidentally" has a symbol suspected to imply pedophilia displayed on its website. The rest of that creepy stuff in the emails and other stuff may just be unfortunate and disturbing, albeit nothing sinister.

But on the otherhand, the election of Trump may have really saved us from having some true monsters ruling the United States. I hope whoever gets assigned to the AG has a strong stomach and iron will.

Not to drag the conspiracy too much farther, but suddenly I see reasons why a "conservative" Chief Justice of the Supreme Court issues a ruling that demonstrates master's level intellectual gymnastics to justify a wholly unconstitutional law, and an FBI director who admits to criminal behavior by Hillary, but can't find a case that "a reasonable" prosecutor would bring to court.

My father was drafted in '42, got out in '46, he was done and walked away.

Bought the house where I grew up in '51 off a sergeant who stayed in the reserves after WWII, and wasn't very happy to be scooped up and shipped to Korea.

My aunt had married a Navy flyboy to get the hell out of the house (father's side of the family had some issues) and he spent a bunch of time in the air over Korea; I still have some of the Japanese knick-knacks he gave my parents from his shore time.

like a GOPe would get upset if they met a liberal that didn't insult
them for being an evil conservative.

That shame is like their penance and you are denying them the absolution of their sins by not giving it to them.

I understand this convoluted explanation.

The last time I was in SF (1999) I was visiting a friend in the Castro. He paid at that time an absolutely sinful amount of money to live in a hellhole. Which I understand is even more of a hellhole now.
He's actually an ex-friend. Back in 2003, he was waxing eloquent about working on the campaign of a Hispanic lesbian who was running for mayor or some such thing. I was not in a good mental place at the time, and I snapped, "So her defining characteristics as a politician are "hispanic" and "lesbian"?? WTF?!"
Understand, this was before I'd ever heard of the term "identity politics." He never spoke to me again.

No, in my experience (having grown up in SF from the '60s and worked there from '80ish-2000ish, and still live in the area and have in-laws there) in terms of physical condition it's probably better now.

San Francisco east of Twin Peaks is probably safer and mostly in better physical condition than it was twenty years ago. Also vastly more expensive, that's chicken-or-egg.

It's safer in part because some of the criminal element has been priced out of town, and the ones that remain are largely incapable of even standing up most of the day. Fewer muggers, more pissbums. It's ugly, seriously ugly in the downtown area these days.

That can be annoying as hell if you don't know the sneak-by-pixy trick.

Place a space at the end of each line. It will make the software see the text as broken up instead of continuous. The funny thing is that the software will also strip out any end-of-line spaces in the process of posting your comment, so the spaces will no longer be there when it gets published.

She was apparently too drunk AND sedated because she was throwing things and becoming a danger, so they physically restrained her to sedate her. And somehow, we were supposed to have THAT for POTUS.

question is, will the idiots who live and vote here have the sense G*d gave a hole in the ground and vote all these idiots in office out, or will it just make the secession movement stronger?

ima write Trumps team and suggest that, if these idiots try to secede, that he let them go, but only after exercising eminent domain and keeping for the US everything south of the north boundary of Camp Pendleton, or maybe everything south of the line running along Artesia Blvd-91 Fwy- 60 Fwy-I-10 so that the US controls all the southern Border, and retains San Diego as a Navy home port.

they would also have to pay current value of all federal improvements, such as all Corps of Engineers projects, Interstate highways, and surrender all ARNG-ANG equipment (big part of disaster/fire response) and that all military reservations, VA facilities, National Forests etc, be paid for at current value.

It's not arrogance; it's the American character and what has made this nation so special in the world. America has always stood alone on so many issues. While the rest of the world (the civilized world, at least) has had party-oriented, ephemeral executive eurotrash parliamentary systems, America stood unique in our governmental architecture. Utterly unique. We didn't need anyone else to tell us how to form a nation. We did it ourselves and did it better than anyone has.

Whenever the world has tried to tell America what it should do we have told the world to fuck off and done it our way. With this, we built the strongest, freest, greatest nation to have ever existed.

We don't need anyone else's help or input. We never have. The only times we've gotten into0 trouble are when some Americans got it into their minds that we need to listen to other countries and start being more like them.

My attitude is not arrogance. It's history.

599 "There is a story, a joke in some ways, an allegory in others, that dates
way back. In it, a British Lord travels to the Frontier West, America
in the 1800's. His horse throws a shoe on the trail, so at the first
little frontier town he comes to, he finds a blacksmith's shop to have
the shoe replaced. As he rides up, he sees a large, sweaty, filthy man
hammering on a piece of red-hot iron. The Lord sits on his horse,
waiting to be served, but the blacksmith doesn't pay him any attention
and continues to work his iron. Finally, the Lord, outraged to have been
ignored this way by an obvious servant, dismounts, approaches the
'smith, and taps the man on the shoulder with his riding crop.

"You, man!" he barks, "Who is your Master! I wish to have a word with him!"

The blacksmith turns, looks at the Englishman, spits a stream of tobacco juice on the point of the Lord's boot and says,

"That sumbitch ain't been born."

Yep.

People are quick to make comparisons between America and other countries, these days, that are totally incorrect. I like Great Britain and I think that it's fantastic that they have finally realized that the EU is a death trap, but Brexit is not the same as the Tea Party or Trump. Sure, there is an intersection in the voice of the citizenry to support the idea of the nation-state, but that's as far as the comparison goes. Brits still like their socialism (even as it destroys things around them and leads them down very nasty paths, like the Liverpool Pathway) and they still seem to enjoy being spied upon by their government on every corner. We share some things with Great Britain, but the bulk of our world view and theirs are worlds apart. And Great Britain is probably the country closest to us in culture, which really says all one needs to know to see the true nature of the issue.

We welcome allies (and allies of ours have traditionally done very, very well) but we don't go out of our way to try and convince anyone to join us. They can decide what they want and we will do what we think is best for us. We just want to do as much business as we can, advance things as much as we can, beat everyone else to the punch (whatever it may be) and to enjoy the blessings of liberty at home.

603 don't bother with the link at the end: the page doesn't exist anymore. i leave it in for historical accuracy:

i didn't write this.
i didn't even find it. (SapperSgt did)
but i do believe the gentleman has an interesting take on things:

----------------------------------------------------------

I don't know what 'the west' wants, but Americans are simple: we want
the rest of the world to go away and stop bothering us.

Understand I'm not speaking for myself - I'd be on a plane somewhere
365 days a year if I could manage it. But Americans generally don't
like being forced to confront the outside world. We have quite a large
country of our own and if we find it cramped there's always Canada
(America Lite).

Americans want to spend their days working. We like working. We like
coming up with crazy plans and turning them into billion dollar
businesses. If we're not working we want to hang out with family. We
don't like thinking about politics, we're not the French. We don't
like having to learn the differences between Shia and Sunni because,
quite frankly, we don't give a damn. We just want to work and hang out.

From time to time Americans are forced to recognize the existence of
some other piece of the world: Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq. We resent
being forced to do so. We didn't really know these places existed,
didn't care, and don't wish to be irritated by them because we have
work to do.

So we fall back on simple, direct solutions to ease the irritation:
nuke 'em all. Nuke 'em all, and then get back to work. It's not that
we harbor particular malice toward one country or another, one religion
or another. What we harbor is indifference. If you threaten our
indifference by forcing us to pay attention to you and your intractable
foreign problems we may have to blow something up just so you'll go
away. There is, after all, money to be made, and work to be done, and
family to be hung out with.

We're busy: don't make us kill you.

I grant that in some cases it's our own government's actions that force
us into the position of having to learn where Fallujah is
(answer: who cares?) but that doesn't alter our underlying sense that
the whole world should just stop bothering us and let us get back
to work.

I have a long-held theory about our DNA. We are the descendants of the risk-takers. Back in the old country, our ancestors were the ones who had the intestinal fortitude to strike out into the unknown in the New World, leaving behind everyone and everything they knew, in most cases forever, in the hope of something better. The ones who stayed are the forefathers of today's Europeans. We took the best of their gene pool (and then in two wars they massively screwed their gene pools even more). We are genetically superior, which is why we invent things, we don't want to be subjects of the state, and we build businesses and win wars.

611 Posted by: Caesar North of the Rubicon at November 17, 2016 04:40 AM (Z6ED4)

I'm not so sure it's a difference in the DNA, but I think our cultures may be a huge part of it also. Europe has a collectivist outlook. They were ruled by absolute tribal chieftains, powerful religious figures, and absolute monarchs for countless centuries. We had to build our country from the bottom up, sometimes being the first person to try to build anything in a new place, and that gave us a far more individualist outlook.

They see power flowing from the top down and consider it the natural order of things. We see power flowing from the top down, and it is alien and antithetical to our way of life.

We see power flowing from the bottom up as the way it ought to be. They see it as chaos, with nobody to control the supposedly-destructive influences of the hoi polloi.

What they call populism, and spit as an epithet, we call democracy.

then we started passing consumer safety laws, and passing mandatory safety labels, and otherwise stopped weeding out the gene pool...

it's not that it takes all kinds, just that some idiot thought it would be a good idea to try and use them, since they were handy.

true story: i w*rked for some Iranians (Persians to here them tell it) who had an inefficient business, and who hired me to make things better, because they were spending fortunes on overtime because everything took so long to get done.

when they got busy, they would stuff more people into the same area, falling all over each other, and try to get pick lists filled.

i looked at that for a couple of days, and stated the obvious: you need to tweek your software so the pick lists come out in uniform order, regardless of when items are added, then rearrange the pick area so that all the items are in the same order. #Duh.

i was told that would never w*rk.

617 Cato, I agree with you, and I've been told that same thing by Europeans who wish they were Americans. They way they put it was that in America, the government works for the people, and in Europe, the people work for the government (the government is the Father, was actually how a German put it, which of course sounds more ominous in the original German).

But this is the nature-nurture controversy. I think we are genetically selected to be different and created a culture that fit our innate sense of how things should work. And I think the ones who stayed behind selected for the opposite characteristic. That is how you get state socialism in all its European variants, most of which eventually become some form of totalitarianism (because socialism ultimately cannot work without collective control of the economic agents).

Depending on when you start and stop counting, it was in the tens of millions (30 million is the most usual number used). 641 Those photos of haggard Hillary are telling, especially in light of all the reports we've been reading of how our brave Ms. Hillary handled her defeat -- crying uncontrollably and throwing things, having to be forcibly sedated, blaming the FBI and Obama for her loss, etc. What an inspiring role model for young girls!

But our bruised and battered heroine was still able to drag herself to a public event for children so she could bask in the praise of her magnificent self and her selfless devotion to the underprivileged! What a gal!

She spent her entire career in pursuit of power and money, ripping off desperately poor Haitians and AIDS-stricken Africans so that she and her family could live in $10 million penthouses and wear $8,000 designer pantsuits and be chauffeured around in limos to all the finest restaurants and resorts.

Has there ever been a more devoted public servant? No wonder the lefties revere her so.

649 Hillary said (and did) a lot of squirrely things but the scariest moment, by my standards, was when she gave a speech and said she was for "reasonable regulation" of the second amendment. She didn't mean to say she wanted to amend the Constitution, too difficult, she simply wanted to pretend it doesn't say what it says.

The concept of "Reasonable regulation" applies to every natural right, in the estimation of the Progressives. Speech, religion, freedom of association, being left in peace in your homes...it's all up for "regulation".

She had to be stopped and, thank the lord above, she was.

650 Good Morning Morons. Today is Thursday, November 17, 2016. On this day in 1997 in Luxor, Egypt, 62 people were killed by six muzzie terrorists outside the Temple of Hatshepsut, known as Luxor massacre. The Swiss Federal Police later determined that Osama bin Laden had financed the operation. So when Clinton was offered Bin laden he should have jumped on the chance. Of course this crap never showed up at the 9-11 Commission, which in my opinion was a whitewash of epic proportions. Just the name of Clinton should go down in history as massive infamy and criminal actions.

They are needed, by Democrats and other special interests to serve as an advertising agency for their agenda.

It is for the people to realize that what they are watching isn't news, it is an advertisement, and just blank it out accordingly. When was the last time you actually, directly *looked* at an ad in the sidebar of, say, FB or youtube or hotmail? The MSM will always be there, but we can easily get into the habit of tuning them out, like they were a 3am infomercial for Ronco miracle blenders or whatever.

663 MLB awarded their Cy Young awards yesterday evening (recognizing the best pitcher in each league), according to a vote of the baseball writers. They screwed up of course, because that's what the media does, and gave the AL version to Rick Porcello.

Verlanders fiancé, Kate Upton, took particular exception to the mistake:

Hey @MLB I thought I was the only person allowed to fuck @JustinVerlander?!

http://tinyurl.com/hwr3h7k

The fantastic Upton aside, Porcello is an OK pitcher who benefitted from having an outstanding offense to back him up. He's not nearly in the same league as Chris Sale, Corey Kluber and Justin Verlander. She's right- Verlander probably deserved it, or Kluber.
