The Morning Report 11/14/16 [J.J. Sefton]

Monday-punch.jpg

Good morning, kids. What a great weekend it was, mostly still drunk on leftist tears. So, do we still get to call him Rancid Pubis? Hopefully Bannon and Pence can double team him and keep him honest. The removal of the Krispy Kreosote cancer on the presidency-elect was crucial. Other than the usual "geschrei" from the left and the Soros rent-a-goon squads, the one thing that we should not laugh at is their goal of eliminating the Electoral College (see link below about Dukakis). They are serious as a heart attack about this; there is a not-so-clandestine movement where a number of states have already signed on. National Popular Vote, which I would imagine is more than likely backed by Soros. This is going to be pushed and mainstreamed by the MFM and academia (especially now because they have a new Emanuel Goldstein to scapegoat in the form of Trump) and must be stopped before more states sign on. Anyway, prayers for New Zealand and have a better one.

FIRST, cancel every unconstitutional executive action, memorandum and order issued by President Obama.

Since every Obama EO was unconstitutional that means all of them.

It is a spot that has the President's ear, though. Kinda smart of him to appoint both Bannon and Priebus on the same day, from a party unity perspective. It sends the message (whether true or not) that "I'm going to be listening to both of these guys."

Projct ORCA lives!:

"Ada", the Clinton algorithm named for Ada Lovelace spit out every day not just the status of the race in every state but which candidates and surrogates should be dispatched to which counties. Ada and the aides slavishly devoted to her was at least partly responsible for Clinton not visiting Wisconsin even once during the fall campaign. Both Ada and Clinton lost there.

17 Letter to the editor in the Rochester, NY paper (surprised they even printed it)
The flood of Trump-fearing
American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified
in the past week. The Trump win is prompting an exodus among
left-leaning Americans who fear they'll soon be required to hunt, pray,
pay taxes, and live according to the Constitution.

Canadian
border residents say it's not uncommon to see dozens of sociology
professors, liberal arts majors, global-warming activists, and "green"
energy proponents crossing their fields at night.

"I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood producer huddled in the barn," said southern Manitoba
farmer Red Greenfield, whose acreage borders North Dakota. "He was
cold, exhausted and hungry, and begged me for a latte and some
free-range chicken. When I said I didn't have any, he left before I even
got a chance to show him my screenplay, egh?"

In an
effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher fences,
but the liberals scaled them. He then installed loudspeakers that blared
Rush Limbaugh across the fields, but they just stuck their fingers in
their ears and kept coming. Officials are particularly concerned about
smugglers who meet liberals just south of the border, pack them into
electric cars, and drive them across the border, where they are simply
left to fend for themselves after the battery dies.

"A
lot of these people are not prepared for our rugged conditions," an
Alberta border patrolman said. "I found one carload without a single
bottle of Perrier water, or any gemelli with shrimp and arugula. All
they had was a nice little Napa Valley cabernet and some kale chips.
When liberals are caught, they're sent back across the border, often
wailing that they fear persecution from Trump high-hairers.

Rumors are circulating about plans being made to build re-education camps where liberals will be forced to drink domestic beer.

In
recent days, liberals have turned to ingenious ways of crossing the
border. Some have been disguised as senior citizens taking a bus trip to
buy cheap Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a half-dozen
young vegans in blue-hair wig disguises, Canadian immigration
authorities began stopping buses and quizzing the supposed senior
citizens about Perry Como and Rosemary Clooney to prove that they were
alive in the '50s.

"If they can't identify the
accordion player on The Lawrence Welk Show, we become very suspicious
about their age," an official said.

Canadian
citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are creating an
organic-broccoli shortage, buying up all the Barbara Streisand CD's, and
are overloading the internet by downloading jazzercise apps to their
cell phones.

"I really feel sorry for American
liberals, but the Canadian economy just can't support them," an Ottawa
resident said. "After all, how many art-history majors does one country
need?

In re: "Ada"

While the Clinton campaign's reliance on analytics became well known, the particulars of Ada's work were kept under tight wraps, according to aides. The algorithm operated on a separate computer server than the rest of the Clinton operation as a security precaution, and only a few senior aides were able to access it.

44 Moar noos

Today is Monday, November 14, 2016. I am going to make an exception this morning and repeat the same one I used last year because it is so applicable today.

On this date in 1995 the first of the phony government shutdowns occurred because Bill Clinton vetoed Republican spending bills twice. Of course the MFM blamed Gingrich and the Republicans and still do even though it was totally Clinton's fault. And then they had the utter gall to give Clinton credit for "triangulating" and cutting the budget. The only thing triangulated was Gingrich with congressional Democrats with a veto proof bill. There never was an actual spending cut. It was another one of those smoke and mirrors budgets that cut spending at some point that happened "down the road". The MFM is our enemy Morons and at least this election year the people recognized it.

45 We can talk about giving up the electorial college as soon as the fed repeals every law that contravenes the 10th and requires a constitutional amendment to make law that does so.

After several months of conversations with a co-worker that I'd label closer to libertarian than any other party, I concluded that "I shouldn't have to care about what goes on in DC unless immigration, national defense, or super court justices are in play.". Since that will probably never happen, we can keep the college thank you.

46 Trump went on 60 min and of course got grilled on his campaign promises by thugs at CBS. No 3 month honeymoon period as most Presidents get. And this AP article does everything it can do to make it look like he is reversing himself on everything. First off they lie about what he said for Obamacare and then they distort themselves on others, But it does appear that he is softening some positions if the quotes are accurate, which I would not guarantee since they are misquoting him in several things they were asking about. He did say he would go after Scankles for prosecution though, but he did not say he would name a "special prosecutor". He did not say in this interview that she would walk. The Fox headline/link is a lie from their own reporting.

My take is that Trump is trying to rebuild the Republican Party into something that resembles a coherent organization, and his appointment of Rinse the Prius to Chief of Staff was basically him throwing the establishment a bone, saying that "even if you're not the guys that call all the shots anymore, you still have a voice."

I'm willing to give Trump the benefit of the doubt on the matter, as it's likely a "party unity" move. Prince Dingus will continue to be called funny names until he does something awesome enough to redeem himself.

Unfortunately that fact will soon be used by the leftards who engineered the theft to justify Calexit.

113 The press needs to hire interpreters in the transition period between Obama and Trump...

Democrats love "infrastructure" programs. Traditionally, they fought for them and republicans were against them.

Now, Trump is talking about infrastructure. It's a totally different thing.

With democrats, infrastructure was a grab-bag, slush fund of money designed to reward certain areas and politicians, with the vast majority of money funneled into elections and the pockets of friends and family.

Trump is ego driven, so for the same 25 million it would take for a democrat to fix one bridge, he will want 5 fixed - in one fifth the time - with an expected life span of 50 years instead of 30 - and looking twice as nice as the bridge it's replacing.

Trump's only motivation is having people look at the bridge and say "That Donald Trump is some sort of Genius Super Builder/President and we should put him on Mt. Rushmore.

Democrats will fight the infrastructure portion of Trump's new administration as soon as they learn they will not have an opportunity to pass out any of the money.

It's never too late. I was a mush-headed "moderate" back when I was in college, and my mental pinball machine tilted when I encountered an advanced form of Leftist identity nonsense called the "otherkin". They're basically the specialist snowflakes in the blizzard, people who believe that they're dragons and unicorns and shit. I'm not kidding. I wish I was.

I looked into it, thinking it had to be some kind of giant prank, and the penny dropped. "This shit is wack." Then I realized that it had the exact same logical consistency (IE, exactly zero) as transgenderism. It was the same thing, just with the contents of the DD monster manual instead of other and/or invented genders.

At that point, I punched out of the Leftist Matrix completely and ran for my sanity. And then someone gave me a copy of the US Constitution and Declaration a few months later, on Flag Day. I read it cover to cover with fresh eyes and a new skepticism of the media, and a 'ron was born.

All I can say is wow...just wow.

I wondered whether there were any adults in the room in that campaign. Turns out, there weren't any.

On the one hand, you have Bill Clinton, love him or hate him, probably one of the best retail politicians of his generation, telling you one thing.

On the other hand, you have a computer algorhithn constructed by a 35 year former TV assistant producer with about 5 years of experience after he went back to school for a statistics degree, telling you another.

You choose the 35 year old.

I am beyond astonished. I am overjoyed for the good of the country, but I am beyond astonished.

There is something to be said for experience, especially in this world where 25 year olds make billions and think they understand the keys to life.

Wow, just wow.

136 The fact Hillary's "margin of fraud" wasn't enough to win the election aggravates Democrats to no end. That's why they suddenly hate the Electoral College- Democrats tried to steal this election fair and square, but couldn't pull it off.

In their minds, immigrant voters should all be counted anyway but in this case the fraud ended up not mattering to the final electoral result.

Note also that a recent homegrown effort to split the state into three parts was rejected by these same hypocritical loonies. That's because it wasn't their own idea. The State of Jefferson idea is a vain effort by the right to part from the left. They wouldn't have a word of it.

"The Arrival" is basically a nicer quiet girly version of a famous American author's most famous book, but to tell you who and what would constitute a major spoiler.

Now here's the interesting part (esp. for a movie straight outta Hollywood)-

this is a Profoundly Pro-Life Movie with a Profoundly Pro-Life Plot line!!!!!!.

It contains a lot (A. Lot.) of typical lefty tropes so I'm not even sure the libtard reviewers realized what a Pro-Life plot and ultimate series of actions they were looking at.

So, in summary - an okay...well maybe good, rather quiet, girly SF movie that delivers a YUUUGE sucker punch of Pro-Life sentiment to progressives, who are apparently too stupid to realize that they've been sucker punched.

They have zero need for a conventional HE round that has a huge cost per round and is limited to a range of less than 100 miles. The Navy has more cost effective methods of delivering firepower than using RAP technology even though they have been playing around with it since the end of WWII.

177 I also love these National Popular Vote clowns.

Did they every pick up a civics textbook? Read American history?

We are a constitutional republic, not a democracy. The framers set it up that way to prevent rule of the mob.

Each state gets to choose its electors any way it wishes. They can even use a lame computer program built by a 35 year old with 5 years of experience if they want to.

The point being: each state chooses its own electors. The electors choose the president.

Where are these clowns coming from?

To be honest, while I get the corruption reasons for the passage of the the amendment, I also am not a fan of direct election of senators either. This dilutes the value and votes of rural people in each state. Each state should have be allowed to elect their senators in any manner that they wished, as the original constitution allowed.

207 And I also agree that congress should do away with that stupid "wet
foot, dry foot" policy for Cubans. Now that Obama has "normalized"
relations with the Cuban commies, there is no justification for treating
Cuban immigrants more favorably than others. There really never was,
and the policy incentivized a lot of reckless and dangerous behavior,
which is another reason why it should be eliminated.

One woman told me she works with a black woman, a Democrat, who lives in an AA neighbor in Milwaukee. Wisconsin requires voter ID now and they were quite strict about it in my deep blue, but largely white neighborhood. However, things were apparently quite different in the 'hood. There was a nearly blind old black woman working at the polling place there and she couldn't see the ID's very well, so they told people not to worry about showing it because "we don't want to hold up the line."

230 Good morning all.

I've been reading through the GOP Report From The Healthcare Reform Task Force (blueprint for Congress and the administration). Will have some thoughts upcoming.

Proposal calls for protections for pre-existing conditions because of "fairness".

I would suggest a transitional phase in. To wit, insurance company can't refuse to sell a plan to someone with pre-existing condition, but there will be a 6-12 month phase-in.

In the first month the individual would cover, say, 100% of healthcare costs related to that condition, in the second month 90%, third month 80% and so on. This would ease the blow of somebody waiting until they had a diagnosis before purchasing insurance while not locking them out of the market entirely.

Just spitballing here.

I got a msg from the PR person from goodreads (see below).

Should I say yes? I don't want to get doxxed by the NYT though...

I'm the PR person for Goodreads. I'm helping Alexandra Alter at The New York Times with a story about the reading habits of Trump supporters, since this was obviously a more economically and geographically diverse group than political experts and reporters assumed. She was scrolling through review of "Crippled America" and looking for thoughtful responses - your review stood out as someone who would have something interesting to contribute to the conversation.

Alexandra says: "I would ask for basic biographical information, age, job, etc., and then mostly ask about their reading preferences -- favorite books and authors, favorite genres -- so that the story isn't so dry and data heavy. Our goal isn't to confirm previous assumptions and stereotypes but to show where there may be common cultural ground, and a diverse array of interests."

I used to believe in the good will of Democrats, but they rarely if ever withhold their votes or vote Republican to punish their Party or candidates.

(possibly depending on how things shake out after the riots to scare and punish Dims who voted for Trump. We may learn this is what happened in part in Trump victory)

If the local Dim candidate said he fully supported and welcomed the riots, in the next election you can be sure your neighbors would still vote for him.

I doubt their regret is real enough to have real world consequences. But hey, meaningless blather is good too!

309 From Insty:

For Hillary Clinton's chief strategists, the unique challenge of addressing working-class and white rural frustrations while cheerleading the Obama economy proved too difficult a riddle, and they chose in the end to focus their efforts elsewhere, much to Bill Clinton's reported protestation.

The former president saw early during the Democratic primary that his wife had a real problem connecting with these voters, many of whom overwhelmingly preferred Sanders message on jobs and trade.

Bill Clinton reportedly warned the campaign that they needed to address the issue immediately, but "his advice fell on deaf ears."

"Hillary Clinton's 36 year old campaign manager, Robby Mook, dismissed the advice of the 70 year old former president as the ravings of an aged athlete desperate to regain his former glory, and insisted instead that young, Latino and black voters were the key to winning 2016.'

329 What happened to Hillary's ground game?

We were told, repeatedly, and for years that this was the Democrat's bread and butter. No one ran a ground game like they did. And polling? Normally, a campaign's internal polling is arguably more accurate than what we see on the news.

Yet, late in the campaign, she decided to spend a lot of money on a media blitz in Indiana, which she ultimately lost to Donald Trump by over 30 percentage points. She ignored Wisconsin entirely, and lost it by only one point. Michigan...0.3 percent. Pennsylvania....1.2 percent.

And she focused her attention, very late in the campaign, on Indiana. Her internal polling was so bad that her campaign was celebrating victory on Tuesday morning before polls even opened in most states. They were drinking champagne, Hillary appeared happy, and confident...it was in the bag.

One of the most stunning losses I've ever witnessed. I suspect the democrats will not be repeating this mistake in the future, and so 2020 will be 'interesting'.

335 In the first month the individual would cover, say, 100% of healthcare costs related to that condition, in the second month 90%, third month 80% and so on. This would ease the blow of somebody waiting until they had a diagnosis before purchasing insurance while not locking them out of the market entirely.

Just spitballing here.
Posted by: Muldoon at November 14, 2016 08:20 AM (wPiJc)

As someone who has had UC since childhood, the pre-existing condition thing has always been a hurdle. I think for those that can show they've had continuous coverage for several years there shouldn't be a penalty. However, I've had situations where I had to wait a year to get covered for my UC under different insurances, it was a rough year, but I have found most doctors are more than willing to work with people using payment plans during the non-coverage time. I think with the right amount of competition in the marketplace, this issue could be solved.

389 329 What happened to Hillary's ground game?

Posted by: Sticky Wicket at November 14, 2016 08:49 AM (B/u9X)

I've seen articles saying that Hillary's ground game actually helped Trump's turnout. They apparently did a lot of phone calls and reminders to people in the rust belt states telling people "remember to vote!" and they came across a bunch of Trump-leaning people who hadn't actually made the decision to vote for him.

I like this analysis (not sure how true it really is) because it implies that Hillary actually paid to help Trump get elected.

391 It is increasing amusing to watch lefties try to figure "what happened". It's very simple.

Much like the problem with Muslims or other similar groups, liberals don't want to assimilate with America, they want to fundamentally change it as Obama told us point blank. Everything they have done was to change America into something they wanted, from college campus intolerance to the constant trashing and marginalizing white America has hopelessly racist and every other "ist" they could think of. Turns out, most Americans don't want that.

Trump figured this out and turned it into a simple soundbite, Make America Great Again. He promised to stand strong and fight for a return to traditional American values.

As long as the left keeps screaming that we must change and blaming all of their problems on some group of deplorables they will continue to lose support. May they never change.

Point of Sale says it all. I have neighbors whose children go to the doctor every month for something or another. That does not look like good health to me. Elderly people prescribed medications that might 'help' one issue (not always fatal) but will kill them if they decide to stop that regimen. There are good doctors and medications, but the conflation of medication and health really seems odd to me.

Just tell him he stinks and needs to clean up his act. Lots of people wear jeans that don't get washed very frequently, but he needs work clothes, and "home" clothes. A pack of clean white cotton t-shirts makes it easy for him to toss on a fresh one when he gets home, and is super cheap.

He probably avoids showers because he's bone-tired after work, and works around strong odors and is nose-blind.

Give him some fancy toiletries and he might even decide it's a great way to unwind.

Or, just tell him the arrangement is not working out because of that incompatibility and seek a new roommate.

He may be a 'polite' Wisconsin guy, but he called them out and rejected the label. Very good and I hope lotsa people saw it. Johnson tickles me the most of the races (because I may have to move to WI in the next couple years).

There is fear of malpractice suits, but there are not a lot of "bullshit malpractice suits going on" -Errors resulting in harm are usually the real deal, or very close calls. The way health care is delivered today, there is a lot of delayed and missed diagnosis, medication error or patient neglect. Time and money pressures contribute.
Malpractice suits are the last protection patients have against enormous pressures on providers in corporate practice to boost the bottom line in the face of high overhead and reduced insurance payout. There are some practices that are practically rackets: oversell of stents, pediatric dentistry chop-shops, and others where there is high motivation to alternatively shortcut or overtreat.

One of the problems with pricing is that we have a monopsony. There are only a few very large ultimate purchasers of health care goods and services, i.e. the government and a handful of health insurance companies. Also, since the end consumer is really a purchaser in name only, all the usual pricing signals present in an economic system aren't there.

I had an idea for a short story the other night something along these lines. There's a lot of cartoon prOn out there, so I wondered what it would be like for a character such as Jessica Rabbit to wake up in the morning and, because of some artist in the "real world," find herself in a sexual situation alternately horrifying or delicious, depending on what the artist was drawing, and never knowing from day to day what was going to happen.

A sort of "multiple universes of prOn," I suppose.

As a consumer it is difficult to know what prices actually are anyway. When the negotiated insurer price is often as little as 15% of the list (uninisured) price, it is quite pointless for an insured customer to care about pricing. 85% off list is not unheard of for lab tests, as an example.

My expectation is that the healthcare industry uses their ridiculously marked-up rack rates as a way of claiming huge tax write-offs on the uninsured who don't pay or pay only a fraction.

Require that all providers document their insured payment rates, and disallow any tax loss for charges beyond that amount.

---
And if you don't use one of those 'services' to pay your bill, you're paying anywhere from double to 10x what they are charged. If you prosecute the people responsible for that situation, that would end.

Denninger has made frequent reference to the Oklahoma Surgery Center which posts its prices up front and doesn't take insurance. As it turns out, those prices are fairly similar to what you end up paying anywhere else after your insurance has shoveled a ton of money to the hospital on your behalf. Which is to say, the existence of insurance is part of the problem in running up prices. Allowing catastrophe only coverage again, could fix a lot of that.

Relaxation of drug (re)importation rules needs to happen, too. We can't go on paying 200x what the rest of the world does for medication.

All sorts of news is carried by a multitude of various tweeters, or various social networks. No one needs to own a billion dollar network now, a viral video can completely take apart a phony piece of propaganda, and expose those frauds that fabricated it.

O'Keefe and Wikileaks led the way.

I call it Efficient Market Theory for politics. There are large markets of participants, and news is efficiently distributed. Efficient in time (immediate or slightly delayed), and in scope (unlimited distribution with just a link). Everyone can get multiple sources, on larger events, just using keywords or hashtags.

There is also a "Random Walk" element, which may eliminate some of the large pendulum swings we see, from extreme conservative to extreme radical ... if that really happens. We have actually been moving more steadily "globalist totalitarian", because it was orchestrated for the last 60 years. But the swings, in any case, should be less, as "movements" happen more quickly and are more focused/segmented than left versus right.

That would break the whole PC Paradigm, the herding of people into a group think world. Pepe the frog will pick off weak elements of their cultural Marxist dictates like slurping a fly off Hillary's face.

Anyway .. still developing that comparison ... but it does seem the meme world responded instantly to Hilda/Podesta long planned narratives. The 40+ buses in Chicago video (free) exposed the demonstrations as Soros astroturf (cost millions). It's the gamergators versus the stodgy feminist attacks.

The Times, they are a changing, into a dead tree dead day old news cycle broken machine. Sorry Carlos.

597 I would laugh at them pushing Keith Ellsion, but after Obama..
anything about any agenda he is pushing /has pushed that we disagree with will be __ fill in blank.
so the idea makes me shudder not laugh

Ya know one day someone at The Times is gonna look at the bottom line and maybe figure it out..Or maybe not.

Think again my friend - they are gonna continue to keep themselves hermetically sealed inside their little northeast, lib biosphere, like Pauly Shore in that awful movie, and follow that lefty-prog lemming recipe for destruction over the cliff, a la Thelma and Louise. And when Trump buys the paper for $1.00 when it's in bankruptcy as something "fun" to do after he retires from the Presidency in 2024 and starts to run it as a right wing publication I will laugh my *ss off..

I sort of envision some ultra rich lib in the northeast reacting like this:

606 Trying to figure out how those on the left and the media can spin that keeping 2-3 million illegals who are gang bangers and drug dealers in this country is a good thing.

Wouldn't both sides agree that deporting or jailing criminals who are here illegally be GREAT?

If they can't agree with that, then I cannot listen to anything else they say. Irrational thinking does not get my notice.

607 Tickerguy wants to remind everyone that health insurance prices are not the real problem but price fixing across the health care industry, and those will destroy the country during this presidential term if not addressed. Trump apparently lightly touched on this but the transition team appears to have forgotten.

I read this yesterday. It was deeply unsettling.

Sigh.

There are those that are saying that our economy-- and the global economy-- is in big trouble. And that they picked Trump to preside over it so that the Democrats won't be blamed.

All very frustating. I'm being killed with my healthcare costs, and read the other day that it will be at least a year if not more before Ocare can get sorted.

I think you will see changes before that. For example, Trump could tweak the ACA in order to take the teeth out of it. Remove rules like what constitutes an 'approved' plan. What if he says that EVERY plan an insurance company wants to offer is an approved plan?

He could also open up a special enrollment period for people to switch to a newer, cheaper, simpler plan.

He could also easily change the tax code to eliminate any penalty for not having an ACA-approved plan.

There are other rules that could be changed before the new law (the replace version) kicks in.
