The Morning Report 11/11/16 [J.J. Sefton]

Veterans_day.jpg

Joseph F. Ambrose wearing his own US Army WW1 uniform and equipment, while attending the official dedication of the Vietnam Veterans dedication in November 1982. He is clutching a folded US Flag that covered the casket of his son Clement A. Ambrose, who was Killed In Action in Korea on 14 February 1951.

Good morning all. On this day 98 years ago, at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, the guns of August fell silent after four long, brutal years of the Great War. To all of you who have worn and continue to wear the uniform, the words "thank you for your service" are completely inadequate to express our gratitude. And I hope that those who languish in VA hospitals or suffer in silence elsewhere will be remembered, comforted and rescued from their shameful abandonment. G-d bless them all. Have a great weekend, kids.

The greatest battle Trump will face are the turncoats, traitors and saboteurs within his organization. I understand Krispry Kreosote, as his transition chief, is already populating that group with ex Bush and Romney hacks. And the prospect of Bob Corker - Bob FUCKFACE IRAN SCUM Corker - as Secretary of State is beyond the pale.

Stop. This. Donald. Trump.

14 Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell hinted Wednesday that he may not
support the controversial idea of changing Senate rules to kill
Democratic filibusters, and instead warned that Republicans need to be
wary of overreaching now that they have kept control of Congress.

I knew and forewarned this would happen. Despite the fact that Dems have used the nuclear option twice sense Obama took office he wusses out once gain. We need to get rid of this RINO surrender monkey now.

Mitch McConnell is the greatest danger we face. He alone and his cadre of saboteurs will totally reverse what happened last Tuesday.

Trump has to do something about him. But with Krispy Kreosote being floated (get it?) as Chief of Staff, I am getting as ill as the Triggly Puff Crying Brigades.

Please, Conway and Bannon, for the love of G-d, get rid of him like you booted Manafort.

They have ways of doing the 60 vote thing without the talk and that is what they normally do (Senate rules). The Democrats have invoked the "nuclear option" twice to get around this rule but the Republicans NEVER do that. And while a new congress is being formed they have the opportunity to totally eliminate that rule once and for all. Which is why they are talking about it now for reinstating it.

They have been selling it in the US off and on for years. That is what they do with all their classics. They allow them to languish for a while and then when demand is built up they put them out as a re-release with high prices. I bought three copies of it in their last re-release.

81 Just a word, as we honor Veterans today, some of those guys you see on the side of the road with signs, saying "Homeless Vet," or some of the addicts that roam the streets at night... many of them DID serve honorably, and ended up where they are now, at least partially as a direct result of their service.

We sometimes refer to them as bums and deadbeats, and we joke around here about hobos. Many of them went into the service, bright eyed at 18, and came out broken, bruised, and damaged. Doing their job as best they could.

I just ask that you keep them in mind today as well. And throughout the holiday season, and the cold months to follow.

A judge on Thursday ordered delivery of bottled water to lead-tainted homes in Flint, Michigan, unless residents opt out or officials verify that a water filter has been properly installed.

Water is distributed for free at many sites in Flint. Residents who can't get to a distribution site can call a community group for help, but U.S. District Judge David Lawson said it's still not enough.

I suppose next supervisors must be given out to make sure the poor little turds don't piss in it before they drink it. What the judge should have done is ordered the entire city government disbanded and the city permanently shut down.

Some of them are frauds, it comes with the territory. If you encounter them in person, it's probably best to point them to the nearest VA facility, or if you engage in conversation, ask if they've been to the VA. If they have no idea what you are talking about, you'll know. If they say they're not eligible for VA care, they might be right.

142 I wasn't going to talk about the election at work because I know my boss was against Trump and I don't want to get fired. But I had this feeling he wanted to discuss, so I initiated it.

"Are you worried about the results of the election?" He said yes, then I asked him why, and the conversation commenced. When the subject of "the nuclear button" arose, I reminded him that the only times nukes were deployed or even threatened were when democrats held the office.

We had a pretty lengthy chat that went all over the place. He was stuck in some pretty obvious lefty indoctrination points, however he also was aware that there's little outlet for hearing the republican or conservative view. He was pissed, for instance, that Reddit was filtering out republican/conservative commentary and promoting the donks.

The discussion wrapped up with him saying - You know Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, those guys are all slanted liberal. Where is the comedy that is geared towards conservatives? What do you guys laugh at?

This was a no-brainer: "Liberals".

He didn't even take offense, he really wants some examples of sites or TV shows that mock lefties. Any suggestions?

I am hoping on this Veterans' Day that those people will get some satisfaction from this election, and I am also hoping that Donald Trump will keep his promises to honor our veterans' service and reform the unbelievably corrupt and dishonorable VA.

On March 6, 2003, there was the first of seven failed cloture votes on Estrada.[8]
Fifty-five senators voted to end debate on his nomination and allow a
final confirmation vote, and forty-four senators voted not to end
debate.[9]
After twenty-eight months in political limbo and a protracted six-month
battle using the filibuster, Estrada withdrew his name from further
consideration on September 4, 2003.

He said he was in Michigan until the last second trying to get people to vote for Hillary because he knew. He wasn't hired, nor paid by the DNC, but he knew.

He brought up about the poisoned water, that kids were drinking, and poisoned, in Flint, and how Obama went there and drank the water, and said everything is okay, but he was lying. Moore said he lied to the people of Michigan, and the people that had voted for him. The pipes are not even fixed yet, he says, and the mothers of those poisoned kids turned on him.

Good. Yet, Moore said he loves Obama, and voted for him twice, yada yada yada.

He also talked about the fact that the Trump campaign was spending more on baseball caps, and the media laughed at them. But, that was a sign, and the media only mocked those buying all of those caps and wearing them.

234 Flint would be a perfect place for Trump to change the narrative and attitude of the country...

Prior to being sworn in, he should get with the asshole Gov. Snyder in secret and come up with a plan. Have an outside manager line up dozens of excavating companies and be ready to go on day 1.

Have Trump fly into Flint and meet with local leaders. When asked if he would like a drink of water, say "Hell no! I'm not going to drink this stuff and neither should anyone who lives here".

Introduce the project manager and let him say "To the people of Flint, I promise that in 120 days, this problem will be fixed. It will be fixed right, on time, under budget and the people of Flint will have clean water. To the taxpayers, I promise that every nickel we spend will be necessary and prudent".

When it's done, the country will see what an outsider can do, how shit gets done when someone cuts the red tape and how this change can make a difference in their lives.

I'm so tired of McConnell's bullshit that I hope it isn't even an issue.

The two of them go into McConnell's office and come back out fifteen minutes later, with McConnells head bruised, his pants stained with urine and in a shaky voice, McConnell announces he's going to do whatever the President asks.

Don't think we've forgotten, Democrats.

All this talk right now is to--once again--lie to their base so they can agitate them into more violence:
"The repeal of Obamacare was unconstitutional!" they'll try to shout, but being as stupid as they are, they'll stumble over the last word and just mumble it.

IIRC, Lowey was in line to run for NY Senate in 1998 when Moynihan(?) retired, at least until....carpetbagger Hillary swooped in and ran instead. It would be nice if Lowey found a way to kneecap Chelsea, either by not retiring or by getting locals behind a different successor.

I've got a thick collection of Punch cartoons at home, and was trying to find a certain one to post here, but it doesn't appear to be online, so I'll describe it. It's a visual representation of an old joke:

A young man in formal clothes is sitting at one end of a couch during a swanky party. "Post Office?" he asks. "Isn't that a children's game?"

His companion, a sleek, luscious eyeful, leans in closely with a seductive spark in her eye: "Not the way I play it."

426 OT, just got off the phone with some friends in CT who were telling me about how uspet their liberal friends were.

I suggested some ways to talk their friends off the ledge:

1. "If I had the same facts and assumptions you had going into Tuesday, I would have drawn the same conclusions"

2. "I am astonished too. How could all of the big media outlets in TV and print have independently come to the same wrong conclusions? How could all of the polls that they published all have been so wrong? Did they have other information that they didn't share or were the results skewed intentionally?"

3. "How can a democratic republic survive if the electorate is given wrong information on which to draw conclusions? If the media's coverage was so skewed for the last two years, what else have they been reporting that is not true? What else have they not been reporting, and why?"

It never does...

Make it a feature of Trump's presidency that there is always a 120 day program going on. You've only got enough days for three a year.

That way, you've always got a unifying, patriotic, feel-good project going on that continuously demonstrates that the right can get things done while the left just talks about them.

Use this opportunity to switch minorities enmass over to the right. Infrastructure is going to get done one way or another. If we leave it to the democrats, it will be delay after delay, cost 10 times what it should and be a basket of slush money programs to pass out patronage money to dem supporters.

With Trump in charge, we can get things done, take credit for them and save some money.

Walker couldn't because he didn't have the money to run on a winning platform when his amnesty-loving backers told him to shape up or lose the money. I give him credit for walking away from running as yet-another amnesty candidate.

Jindal couldn't because he appears to have all the public appeal of a wet dishrag. I was glad when he threw his hat into the ring...and then completely forgot he existed. Also, the LA contingent of the Horde were pretty universally upset with him for not keeping his campaign promises and that's not a good recommendation at all.

Trump had the microphone and the nerve required to use it. It helped that he took the DOPe by surprise as they were gearing up to undercut Cruz and couldn't reorient immediately.

I hope that Trump just announces that Cruz is his first choice that Ted is his choice for SCOTUS. When asked about what Cruz said about it, President Trump can reply "Well, I don't know. 502 (Well, that mid-morning thread went POOF!)

Interesting read at Legal Insurrection.

Anne Sorock predicted Trump would win both the nomination and the election back in February, 2015 -- before Trump even announced his candidacy.

http://preview.tinyurl.com/janq4qf

For most people, both Donald Trump's campaign and success came out of nowhere.

But not for Anne Sorock of The Frontier Lab.

Anne started writing for Legal Insurrection in April 2012 and was a regular contributor for many years. Over time Anne focused more and more of her time at The Frontier Lab, and now writes for us only sporadically.

We have featured Anne's research at The Frontier Lab many times. Anne uses the Deep Values methodology she learned while interacting with the Food and Brand Lab at Cornell University while getting her MBA. Deep values research seeks to understand not just what consumers like or want, but what deeply held values lead to such decisions.

At the Frontier Lab, Anne has applied deep values methodology to numerous political topics, including why people decide to become politically active, Occupy movement participants' motivations, and why Republicans won't call themselves Republican, among others.

I saw Anne at CPAC 2015, and in the course of our discussions, I asked Anne who she liked among the many rumored presidential candidates. She said Donald Trump.

I was like, what is that all about? He's never going to run, he always teases, and anyway, Trump? Seriously? She was serious. She said, look, he's the one. She was insistent not only that Trump would run but that he'd win. It seemed totally incredible.

That's what I've been calling these 60's-theme-party "protests." The lamentation of their women.

I patiently explained, about four times, how the president is elected by the states, not by the "people." Finally gave up and went straight to "fuck you." That was much better received, if you can believe it.

514 Obamacare can be effectively dismantled from within. Because the stupid law was written with a lot of blank holes to be filled in by HHS, those 'rules' can now be re-written easily to help sink it entirely.

For example,

1) Rewrite the rules about what is considered an 'acceptable' plan. Make ANY plan an acceptable plan. Catastrophic health insurance? Acceptable. Coverage without mental health? Acceptable. Coverage without birth control? Acceptable.

2) Rewrite the rules about 'sex discrimination.' In other words, if women want healthcare plans that include coverage for childbirth, the insurance company should be allowed to charge more for such a plan.

3) Allow insurers to create their own 'bands' when crafting plans so that younger purchasers of insurance actually pay based on their age group risk levels. Younger people are sick less often and deserve to pay much less for a healthcare plan.

4) Change the rule about what constitutes a full-time employee and/or exempt ALL businesses from this rule.

5) Allow plans to be sold outside the marketplace without restriction.

Anyway, just some thoughts...Some of these changes would destroy Obamacare from within.
