The Morning Report 11/10/16 [J.J. Sefton]

DFT.jpg

Hey all. I feel like a million; a million pieces of crap. Went out to dinner last night and came home with some sort of food poisoning. Very little sleep on top of the maybe 3 hours I got the night before. Still bloated, semi-nauseous and pain in the kishkes. Sorry for the meager pickings. Pick a meager and discuss. Have a better one, certainly better than I will.

2 From Market-Ticker and Karl Denninger.

If you are in a meltdown because Hillary lost then you're unfit to adult. You're unfit to hold a job. You're unfit to evaluate the cost of credit to buy a car -- or a house. You're unfit to choose what to eat, or to evaluate various options for treatment of a medical condition. You're unfit to carry on the daily requirements of living on your own, independently, making your own decisions and being responsible for them -- including voting.

You are in fact an emotional infant, no older than 2. You are throwing a crybully tantrum, exactly as a 2 year old does when their parent refuses to give them the second bite of chocolate they want. And if you are if fact older than 2 by more than a few years the responsibility for your frail emotional state is on you, not someone else. To the extent you stuck that tantrum out in public where others can see it they are perfectly within their rights to deduce that you're unemployable, you're emotionally unstable and thus you're unsafe to be around in any capacity.

It is perfectly fine to decide that if an election goes the "wrong" way you are going to alter how you live and decisions you make. I did that after Obama was proved to be a clown car brigade, and went even further after the 2012 elections.

But you didn't see me crying, or whining, or having a full on psychotic break, unable to handle ordinary life and needing an "excuse" from an exam, from work or simply from functioning in an everyday manner.

Snowflake, meet flamethrower. He's called "the real world" and when, not if you melt -- tough crap.

And note to the parents who are writing about how scared your children are: It is your job not to let your deep dark imaginings infect your children. Whether you are afraid of a politician, or an economic crisis, your own job loss, or your own health.
Whether it's a macro issue or a micro issue. When you are a parent it is your job to help your child see the world in a manageable way. Not to hype them up to feed your own narcissistic view of the world.

20 AZ and NH still have not been called. Trump is ahead in AZ by more than 4% but there are still 600,000 votes that have not been counted. NH is simply too close to call. And yesterday evening on the radio I heard the DIABLO Ayotte had conceded in NH and after they found more "trunk votes" for the Democrat in NC went ahead of the the Republican for gov. He has not yet conceded though. There is no great loss on Ayotte who ran as a Teaparty conservative and immediately went DIABLO (ACU 3. One wonders if the AZ votes have gone in those vote totals yet. I think probably not and I think when they are added Trump will go ahead of Scankles in vote totals.

That's it for today folks. The election is over, and in a few days all the post election hype will be over and the press's relentless attack on Trump will be in full swing. Inflation and unemployment will return as issues (which they really are) and the MFM will start inventing all kinds of other trash like the "homeless problem" which the Democrats and the ACLU created. But things will be different this time. We don't have a mealy mouth p*ssy in office being coached by Karl Rove who will take their shit.

53 Nate Silver was busy rationalizing away how the polls weren't really that wrong. He's right and wrong.

He's wrong because the polls were horribly slanted until the last week or so. That wasn't polling error. It was bias and an attempt to influence the election.

He is right that the more correct polls at the end were all within the margin of error.

They should get away from leading with the percentages. If a poll is within the MOE they should simply state it is a tie.

strategy: get the media to support the most extreme candidates (Trump,
Cruz) in the primaries so that the Dems can defeat them in the general
election.

But since I'm among friends here, I'll share - the argument was with Mrs Poppins. Lots of bottled-up rage on both sides. She's on facebook, so it wouldn't surprise me if she decides to slam me there.

And I have another friend in SF who I know voted Scankles, but is otherwise a very sensible person. Still waiting to hear from her/

89 2 From Market-Ticker and Karl Denninger.

You can be an NBA player though, judging from all the sad butt hurt I saw on ESPN SportsCenter at work this morning. I'm home now, watching golf instead. Because I'm racist or something.

91 Miss Tammy, and JJ, and other interested parties--the most common form of food poisoning is pre-formed toxins from Staph, which typically strike in 1-12 hours after ingestion (usually less than 6 in my experience) and wreck you something fierce for about 6-12 hours before fading away.

94 All in all I am just glad it is over except for the week of post election recriminations and BS interpretations. All the way back to the primaries I did not like any of the candidates. In the end I had to support Trump over Scankles but it was only moral support. As I promised, I did not vote Tuesday. I knew it made no difference in SC and I was right. Trump won by the widest margin I have ever seen of any Republican candidate; 16 points. (Probably because this was the first Presidential election in which we got to implement the voter ID law). And because the blacks went back to mostly sitting it out because no black candidate.

But anyway, I was tired of this election months ago.

So was I. We should really start agitating for a shorter election cycle. 6 weeks for the primaries. 10 states per week, in regular, rotating blocks of 10, no more Iowa always goes first horseshit. 6th week is the convention. Then done. Allot another 6 weeks for general election campaigning after the conventions. Get it all over and done with in 3 months, and no more year-long electoral siege effect.

163 I kind of slacked off yesterday. Watched a lot of Fox news hoping for a gloat fest. 2 things sorely missing from the coverage:
1) DJT, despite being a somewhat flawed candidate, ran a text book campaign. Political operatives could study exactly the way he mobilized his base, and expanded the electoral map for years. Team Trump did a brilliant job of speaking to the people.
2) Hillary Clinton was a horrible candidate. Take away all of her historical baggage, and she still sucks. AND she sucks in particular b/c her base does not vote on actuals. They vote on emotions. And THAT'S the big disconnect: She has no ability to project sincere emotion. As late as yesterday, they were saying this about her concession speech: "Lots of tears...lots of emotion." Bull. Shit. I watched the entire speech. Her eyes welled up a bit, but I'm pretty sure that was just the meth kicking in.

167 Sigh. My youngest is a senior in HS and is taking US Government this semester. They have been following the election process and she is full of questions. From what she has relayed of the teacher's comments, I would hazard a guess that the teacher leans heavily Dem.

The sigh is for having to explain that our form of government is in fact a constitutional republic that uses democratic processes and not a democracy. England is a constitutional monarchy, etc. Since they are more than halfway through the course I would think this basic point would had been covered thoroughly by now.

The night before the election, the homework assignment was to ask a parent to explain the Electoral College system and see if the parent understood this "complex and difficult process" (teacher's words). Daughter says not only did I nail it cold, but that I provided more info and context than the teacher had, so that it made sense finally.

I hope Trump picks an AG that is willing to follow the money on these protesters. Time to start pushing back on this crap. I see here in the wonderful DC Metroplex we had students burning the flag at American U.

Interesting that a lot of the folks that ran away from Trump underperformed him at the polls. Seems like the only ones that benefitted were the pols in true purple areas, such as here in VA CD #10. Comstock overperformed him by a lot, and Hillary! actually did better that JEF in Loudoun County last I saw. Knowing that Trump wouldn't do well in NoVa, there is still a big lesson for the GOP here; VA is not a lost cause. We can win here statewide.

If this had been posted by some brainless non-celebrity, instead of a brainless celebrity, it would have been applauded by 2 or 3 friends, deservedly mocked by everyone else, and remained in proper obscurity.

I think they plan on causing such a mess over the next two months that, at minimum, they can short-circuit Trump's initial plans by forcing him to focus on "healing the country" by submitting to their demands. Or worse, they're starting their revolution, creating enough chaos to justify Obama putting a hold on leaving office.

Why don't they crucify the media, who told them endlessly they would win in a walk? How about the DNC, who manipulated, lied, and plotted against them/to fool them? How about their rotten candidate?

Because attacking others is how they avoid introspection, that's why. They're already far worse than anything the Right has done following its numerous losses, even in the face of abuse and contempt from the victorious Left (who are only slightly better winners than they are losers).

I think that's why we saw the protests last night.
They expected Obama to come out an rail against Trump and say he would investigate the election for Rep voter fraud. Ridiculous of course but that's how they reason. And I use the word "reason" very loosely.
They really, really thought the JEF would save them.

317 Oh, here's an off topic before I forget about it...

Things have changed in the old formula of whether to buy or lease a car. This applies to everyone.

Not that many years ago, you could buy a car and, if you had an accident, get it fixed properly and continue on as if nothing had happened. No more.

Now, with CarFax, everything that happens to your car is recorded for posterity. When you go to trade a car in that's been involved with an accident, regardless of how minor or how well it was fixed, you're fucked.

There will be a big "accident" signal that pops up on the CarFax. That means your trade in is worth thousands less than it would be.

For now, there are no provisions in lease contracts concerning the reduced value of the car due to accidents, and all you need to do if there is a crash is get the car fixed properly. However, I'm sure that in the near future the lease companies will change this.

Time to get in on lease before that happens.

I know a number of immigrants, one mentioned

Being deplorable is what the best do best.

We're all very different people. We're not Watusi. We're not Spartans.
We're Americans, with a capital 'A', huh? You know what that means? Do
ya? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent
country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We're the underdog.
We're mutts! Here's proof: his nose is cold! But there's no animal
that's more faithful, that's more loyal, more loveable than the mutt.
Who saw "Old Yeller?" Who cried when Old Yeller got shot at the end?

I cried my eyes out. So we're all dogfaces, we're all very, very
different, but there is one thing that we all have in common: we were
all stupid enough to enlist in the Army. We're mutants. There's
something wrong with us, something very, very wrong with us. Something
seriously wrong with us - we're soldiers. But we're American soldiers!
We've been kicking ass for 200 years! We're ten and one! Now we don't
have to worry about whether or not we practiced. We don't have to worry
about whether Captain Stillman wants to have us hung. All we have to do
is to be the great American fighting soldier that is inside each one of
us. Now do what I do, and say what I say. And make me proud.

Ladies and gents this is not the first time the good people of this
country pulled the wagon while you rode on top of it. Ronald Reagan's
wagon was pulled in much the same way. With the same purist detractors
riding on top.

So from the people who pulled you along for your leisurely ride. The wagon has stopped.

You may disembark.
.
.
.
.This truly does feel like 1980 again to me. It was exactly the same then, Reagan was a hated outsider with zero experience and the Republican Party didn't want him to win the Primary because he couldn't win against Carter in the General and he would destroy the down ticket races, blah, etc.

He was so far down in the polls they were calling it for Carter by Labor Day.

And exactly the same thing happened then, the media and pollsters were not capturing the mood of the Voters and got everything wrong.

If Obama hadn't been so classless and childish in insulting Trump at that roast, Trump probably never would have run.

364 This is the inevitable allure of chiliastic socialism: that anything preventing the immatizing of the eschaton is not only wrong, but nefarious in nature. Ergo, anything one disagrees with or perceives as a threat to the expansion of the socialist doctrine is by definition oppression.

Consider: in a reality of binary emotive, oppression versus acceptance in this case, there is no moral, ethical or even legal consideration that supersedes the base desire to react, destroy and condemn ones opposition.

In sum, those who are not with us, are against us, and those who are against us must be destroyed.

Trump (and I'm very optimistic) would not have been possible without Obama AND Bush. Now your Republic has a second chance. Any GOPe would only have messed around the edges and did some Ocare fixes and look for unity picks for the court that the Dems would find acceptable, maybe cut some tax rates and add some loopholes, fix some fence holes (maybe) and grant amnesty (definitely).

And without yuuge growth the hollowing out of the US Military would only continue.

I was talking about this with my husband over dinner. About what the liberals are doing to children and the young.

I showed him that crazy woman weeping and talking suicide, which is extreme, I know, but the Safe Spaces all across the nation at the universities is so disturbing.

Really? College level "adults" who can vote need safe spaces?

e.g. #9000009000

Precious college snowflakes at the University of Michigan-Flint can get the help they need following Hillary Clinton's stunning presidential loss.

Students will be able to visit "safe spaces" and receive "counseling" for all their election-woe needs, according to an email sent to the UM-Flint community obtained by the Washington Examiner.

First of all, if they are truly children, they aren't in the middle of political angst unless you put them there and are in freak-down mode in front of them. My 7 year old granddaughter knows the names of the two candidates, that one is a Republican and one is a Democrat, and that we vote to decide which one to pick. That's it. She's a child. Political campaigns are not in the realm of childhood.

Secondly, if you can't leash your emotions in front of your child, and subject them to emotional trauma, you and only you are responsible for harming them. Grow up. Don't weaponize your child for political points.

This is one of the main reasons I love him so much. I watched several of his press conferences, some of them as long as 90 minutes, this past summer (pure entertainment), and he never hesitated to put reporters in their place. At times he treated them like children (appropriately, they were acting like children as they do).

At one particularly fun one, after he'd told a reporter "That's a stupid question." (it was), the same reporter quickly asked, "If you're elected is it always going to be like this between you and the press?" (Interpreted: Why don't you bend over and take it like past Republicans?). Trump, without batting an eye, "Yes, next question."

I almost fell off my chair laughing.

445 One of the challenges of being a "Red" American is that we are forced to live within the culture of "Blue" America on a regular basis because they control the media (and all other sources of entertainment), news, academia and government centers (DC and pretty much every state capital). Everyone interacts with these institutions on an almost daily basis whether voluntarily or by choice, so you simply cannot get away from it.

For the people however who live in that world, it's The Matrix. You have no idea there is an entire universe outside that world of Boston-NYC, DC, Chicago and LA and therefore are vulnerable to programming telling you what to think and how to feel about The Others.

Most people I live/work with in these parts (deep in the heart of The Peoples' Republics of New England) are stunned (and some horrified) to learn that I'm a #Deplorable "Red" American. They immediately start to think of me as some sort of anthropological oddity that deserves study and requires guidance, utterly unaware that I'm laughing at them internally as they launch into their well programmed sermons on All Things Right Thinking People Are Supposed To Think. They are completely oblivious to the fact that, as someone forced to live in their culture, I am already thoroughly acquainted with their so-called philosophy (which is as much a religion to them as Islam is to ISIS terrorists) and have thoughtfully kicked it to the curb as perverted and suck, it's occasional allures notwithstanding.

Their complete ignorance of a world outside The Matrix is of course a weakness, but that weakness is often overcome by their dominance of the culture which browbeats and bullies folks outside The Matrix into thinking they have no place in polite society and should stick to themselves, bitterly clinging to their guns and religion and whatnot. But every so often, the folks outside The Matrix get sufficiently sick of being perpetually bullied, down-talked and lied to by their self-appointed "betters" that they issue a hearty "GO F*CK YOURSELF!!" to The Matrix.

That's pretty-much what happened on Tuesday.

What we're seeing now is how living in The Matrix seems to create in one a violent allergy to introspection, which is a negative feedback loop for them as any hint of acknowledging the discomfort of being introspective tends to make them, ahem, more uncomfortable. So they get bitter, angry and increasingly (and hilariously, when done in public) desperate and sometimes violent.

Which is pretty much what has been happening since early Wednesday morning.

447 I don't think I've ever seen such a look of misery and dejection on the face of my daughter as I just did a moment ago. She just couldn't understand why the voters would elect Trump when so many things are wrong in this country. "Don't the middle class care about us anymore?" she asked pitifully.

I sat down with her on the sofa and (as calmly as I could) tried to explain to her why the middle class seem to be abandoning their country. "Honey, I think That Fascist Demagogue Trump and His Lies just managed to make all those white people hate genderqueer siblings of color somehow... "

I tried to keep my voice steady, but it became increasingly difficult - the rage and feelings of helplessness were just too much. I think my daughter could tell something was wrong. I found myself at such a loss for words - nothing made any sense; nothing makes sense anymore. I finally had to admit, "Honey, I just don't know - I don't know what's going on in this country anymore..."

When I finished her lower lip started to tremble and her eyes began to fill with tears, "Daddy" she said, "why are the Republicans doing this to the country?" Well, that was it for me: I finally fell apart. She just fell into my arms and we both began sobbing for several minutes.

For once she had to comfort me and get me back on my feet. Sometimes I just think it's too much, but seeing the strength in my young daughter's voice helped me to get through.

465 Random thoughts before I get some work done:

1. Let's hope the GOP wins the runoff in Louisiana and gets Manchin to flip because they need to destroy the filibuster on SCOTUS nominees and kick this Garland character to the curb. Nominating Ted Cruz for the Scalia seat would be a sweetener but any constitutional conservative would do.

2. I'm waiting for Yellen to raise interest rates. It's inevitable and now's the time to do it, when people have stopped paying attention.

3. The protests and cop shootings are going to escalate drastically. Soros and the left have to make the Donald's reign look chaotic.

4. There are going to be a lot of very, very tense Thanksgiving dinners this year, particularly after the wine starts flowing.

5. Once the recriminations and temper-tantrums cease the left is going to slip comfortably back into obstruction mode. They love thinking of themselves as insurgents.

Savor the victory, my friends, because there's a ton of shit flying toward the fan at high velocities.

Last night on Hannity, one of the Fox reporters was interviewing one of the women in the street protesting. She said she was originally for Bernie, but then voted for Hillary. Hannity, via earpiece, told the reporter to ask her to name 3 things that Hillary did to help Americans when she was in office.

She said, she like Hillary's health care plan and used, took advantage of Hillary's health care ... one that didn't exist.

It was funny because Hannity was yelling in the reporters ear that no such health care plan passed or existed, but the reporter didn't pursue that.

That is how dopey they are. She was taking advantage of a health care plan, that she said helped her, that didn't exist.

Anything else amusing would be appreciated.

532 OT, my liberal letter-writing friend was curiously silent yesterday, probably because he is traveling.

However, he didn't disappoint, this morning, his next missive was in my inbox; I offer it without further comment for your entertainment:

"The unthinkable has happened. Aside from Sept. 11, 2001, this is the saddest day for America and the world in my lifetime. I write this from Colombia, visiting with friends and watching the disaster unfold. I cannot wrap my head around the fact that we have elected a sexual predator, tax evader, liar, bigot, xenophobe and hater to the most important office in the world.

I was aghast when George W. Bush won two terms, but I would be thrilled to have Bush 43 back in the White House today. Undocumented immigrants will need to start hiding out. Investors need to brace for a major downturn in the markets, and our allies in NATO need to reconsider their alliances.

A staunch conservative will be named to the Supreme Court, no gun safety laws will be enacted, and we can forget about taking on the catastrophe of climate change. Everything I have believed in and about this great nation is about to come tumbling down, and I wonder how long it will take - if ever - to recover from the blunder of electing Donald Trump."

538 This is classic:

San Francisco homeowner’s Nazi flag protest of Trump backfires

'Flying a Nazi flag at his home in San Francisco’s Dolores Heights on Wednesday was Frederick Roeber’s attempt to make a social comment on President-elect Donald Trump.

But the 48-year-old quickly realized the display was misguided when neighbors spotted the ominous swastika and immediately confronted him in the street outside the house.

Roeber, who is retired and lives in the storybook-esq home on the corner of Sanchez and 21st streets, said he didn’t like Trump’s comments about Muslims and Mexican immigrants during the election.

“I am hoping people get that this is a political statement, and that I’m not a Nazi supporter,” Roeber said outside his home’s wrought iron gates and manicured garden. “I’m a little afraid that neighbors will get the wrong idea.”

But that’s exactly what happened.

Francine Miller, whose grandparents were Holocaust survivors, lives across the street from the home. When she spotted the flag, she headed straight over for a stern chat with her neighbor.

“It was a comment on our new president-elect,” Roeber attempted to explain to the woman.

“I can see where you are coming from, but that is really the wrong impression,” she shot back. “It makes it look like you are supportive of Nazis. As your neighbor, I don’t think it’s funny.” "

599 I woud just node my head and say, probably, but the DNC was too corrupt to let the Dem voter's choice win in the primary.

600 >>Yesterday I quipped that Trump is the blonde from the East with three
dragons, saving us from the ruling houses. I think I need to rework
that. Daenerys Targaryen is a blonde with a great rack who has three
dragons. Trump is a dragon who has three blondes with great racks.

What's funny is that Hollywood loves to portray their outsider everyman taking on the system, burning down the establishment for the people!
But their politics are the polar opposite. Using Daenerys as Trump would cause heads to explode.

601 His rhymes make you laugh like a loon
So here's hoping he's not leaving soon
Some might say that he's older
I say he'll just get bolder
And so, Happy Birthday, Muldoon!

603 McCain and Graham are crushed.

On of the FB newsbits is the black apprentice lady saying Trump is keeping an 'enemies list'

and that Lindsey is on it.

Isnt rule 1 of politics to know who your enemies are ?
And to keep your enemies close ?
Thats why Obama gave Hillary the SoS job

It seems that we age all too soon,
And our skin wrinkles up like a prune.
It sad to watch time,
Drink our youth up like wine,
By the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MULDOON!

612 At least msnbc had the guts, on their main page, to mention the thousands of crybabies taking to the streets. cnn, nothing (that I spotted anyway). foxnews, it's the lead story. go figure. someone will burn down a building or a car pretty soon, I would imagine, unless they just go for the free TV's first. then we'll have some alibiing drivel to read.

613 we have to remember that these people downed not just a shit sandwich. They tucked in at a buffet, and they have nothing to show for it.

Any notions about good governance, transparency, national security; they shit canned all of it, at once. And they lost.

614 Gotta tell you, Little VIA has shown me some stuff on social media which leads me to believe that there is a young conservative pushback against these mental children, and their tantrums.

And his open derision of the scolders on Facebook and twitter was amazing to see.

If you believe in individual liberty (and responsibility) and limited government that serves with the consent of the governed, you are in the counter-culture now. As far as the label "conservative" is concerned, I don't call myself that anymore; the hind-bound, reactionary bunch are the Leftists wedded to their 150 year old failed economic model.

That's always been their way, and it always goes to a point where even fellow travellers who are less pure in their belief, less immediate in their urgency, or less enthusiastic are to be condemned.

I've heard many stories from people who turned away from the Left after seeing that in action. They hate the go-along-to-get-along type with almost as much fervor as they hate their declared enemies.

The entire panoply of liberal commentary post election is all predicated on an exegesis that is not only factually unsound, but rich with sweet, sweet irony.

The first point, we will call the the Samantha Bee Theory: that this election was due in large part, if not entirely, by 'white people'. But the exit polling, hat tip to City Journals Oren Cass, demonstrates that the white vote did nothing to secure Trumps victory. In fact, the exit polls show that Trump only cleaved off .7 of the Democrats white vote. Once again, like in 2008 and 2012, the election was turned on the votes of minorities. Trump improved on the minority vote while Clinton lost. Unless more data points surface, we can reasonably conclude that the trend line for election victory versus defeat resides in the vote of the minority.

Point Two: The sweet delicious irony. If the construct of linear thought still holds true for logical purposes, while the liberal media may not recognize that they are indicating this, they are in fact doing so, to the tune of a soft and low dog whistle: they are staking out a racist position. Minorities swung this election, and ignorance of this position is not a valid excuse. Therefore, mis appropriating your anger to the wrong sub group for the elections outcome does not relieve the claimant of the facts as they are currently known. Therefore, when we hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth vis a vis the Samantha Bee Theory, we should be quick to acknowledge and retort that this is actually a veiled attack on minorities.
