2 Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, November 05, 2016. On this day in 1605 Guy Fawkes was arrested in what has become known as the Gunpowder Plot. He and a group of English Catholics has conspired to blow up the House of Lords and the King with 36 barrels of gunpowder located under the House of Lords. He was convicted and was to receive the traditional penalty of hanging, drawing, and quartering but he fell from the scaffold where he was to be hung and broke his neck. The failure of the plot is celebrated every year as Guy Fawkes Day in England. Today is also Sadie Hawkins day, so all you 'Ettes who have a hankering for a man can go out and get him.

Saw a very interesting play in downtown Brooklyn last night called "Autumn" about a black mayor in the twilight of his career and his desire, against the forces arrayed against him, to become governor.

The author wrote the films "Uptown Saturday Night" and "Let's Do It Again" among others. I was expecting a pro-leftist pro-black screed but a) it was well-written, b) there were some subtle and not so subtle digs at racial politics, liberalism and perhaps Obama and Hillary (though the play must have been written a while ago) and c) during the curtain call, one of the actors exhorted the audience to "get out and vote" on Tuesday." BUT he didn't say whom to vote for.

Kicker: as soon as he said that, someone sitting near me in the 90% black house said " yeah, but for who?"

Butterfly is either "fleterel" or I've also heard "zummer-feygl" which literally translates as "summer bird." I don't think the exact expression of butterflies in the stomach exists in Yiddish, but there might be something similar. The closest thing I can think of is the word/expression "shpilkes" which translates as a pin cushion. Whem someone has shpilkes, it means they're restive, nervous, "on pins and needles."

I voted absentee yesterday. Interesting experience. The county auditor's office was packed. They had eight voting stations. Five were occupied when I arrived, with four others waiting for ballots.

What struck me was not the turnout but the conversations I overheard. It was a bit of a walk from the parking lot and I eavesdropped as I was making the trek to and from. People were markedly reluctant to speak Trump's name for some reason but I heard a lot of "he" and "the man". What I did not hear was anything even remotely referential to Hillary.

Overall, the atmosphere was pretty upbeat though I noted an undercurrent of worry.

Felt pretty good when I came home but that feeling quickly disappeared under the deluge of stories about voter fraud. Why did I bother?

127 I voted yesterday in downstate IL and this was by far the suckiest ballot I've ever had in terms of choices. The POTUS race needs no introduction. But the Senate race equally sucked (ultimate RINO Mark Kirk vs liberal Dem Tammy Duckworth) as did the race for state comptroller (Rauner tool Leslie Munger vs Madigan tool Suzanna Mendoza; non IL residents will just have to look them up or trust me on this). Then on the downballot races, at least half a dozen of them were running unopposed with no provision for a write in choice. The ONLY contest on the entire ballot in which I actually voted for someone I could truly support was the Congressional race (voted for an incumbent two term R). Worst. Election. Ever.
