Lou Dobb's panel is giving an awesome assessment of it. One of them basically said she found it always interesting that there can be so much acrimony in a campaign and then the candidates would come together for this dinner and have a good time, giving the sense that it's all political theater. She said this time however, you could see the hatred was viscerally real, and that Trump relished being a legitimate outsider. It speaks to the fact that these dinners revealed that the GOP and Democrats are literally one uniparty, while Trump himself was an outside and unwelcome presence to their precious elitist cocktail bullshit.

One of my favorite shows is 'Ink Master' simply because those people have talent and a skill, which you don't see in reality tv. But I'm always amazed that people are willing to get something permanent put on their skin.
I've seen some pretty amazing tattoos there. But still, PERMANENT (or lasers...)
Of course, over the next several years, I expect to change countries, change names, language and so much more. Maybe it's just me who's not a good candidate for something permanent.

What the fuck kind of hotel stores spare toilet seats under the beds of the guests' rooms? And who the fuck would steal them? The reason given was that they thought the extra toilet seat had been left behind by a previous guest. Which makes no sense at all until you realize the alternative: the hotel was storing it there.
I just hope that if I ever get around to checking under the bed in a hotel room, I don't find a toilet seat there. No matter who might have put it there.

And this is why I ended up being a supporter of Trump. Being a kid from out west, I never liked the brash East Coast bravado, the accent, the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous aura.
But, as much as I liked so many of the former GOP candidates (the real ones, not the establishment douches), only Trump could have so gleefully and successfully faced the ruthless onslaught from all sides.

Lou Dobb's panel is giving an awesome assessment of it. One of them basically said she found it always interesting that there can be so much acrimony in a campaign and then the candidates would come together for this dinner and have a good time, giving the sense that it's all political theater. She said this time however, you could see the hatred was viscerally real, and that Trump relished being a legitimate outsider. It speaks to the fact that these dinners revealed that the GOP and Democrats are literally one uniparty, while Trump himself was an outside and unwelcome presence to their precious elitist cocktail bullshit.

I didn't see it. At the beginning of this political season, I was aware of Donald Trump, since he's been in the public eye for decades. I saw his TV shows a few times, but never watched them on a regular basis.
He and I have totally different personalities, and since I'm not a billionaire, needless to say we travel in different circles. But as this campaign goes on, I'm finding that I actually like him, for certain values of "like".

similar story with my grandfather. Had the word "mom" in a heart on his arm.
Always told my mom (his daughter) that he loved and missed his mom. Told us grandkids to never get tattoos.
Was out drinking with him at the VFW (where else?) one night, and he told me the real story -- woke up with the tattoo on his arm in Hawaii (before the war). No idea how he got it, he had bet his buddies that he could drink of a pint glass full of whiskey and he doesn't remember anything after that.
I thought it was a hilarious story. Told my mom the story after my grandfather died. She wasn't amused.
I guess I see why he never told her.

Being a New Yorker I basically grew up with The Donald and was intimately familiar with all the sordid details of his marital life when he divorced Ivana, and then got his ass handed to him with the real estate losses before coming back. His brash and crude personality would barely stand out in Queens, even though it would appall the rest of the country, who would think it violent and disturbing, while in New York we'd call it talking.
BTW, my impression of him really changed in this election (for the better).
Side note: I have a best friend in Arkansas who thought I had incredibly vulgar and violent language... until he started going to NYC on business trips, now he understands me a whole lot better. I still think he's an asswipe though, bless his fucking heart.

I don't particularly care for tats, but for goodness sake, if you're going to get them, spend the money to get them done by someone with real skill. And avoid the fucking cliches. For example, Maori tribals on white Americans are a stupid affectation. Barbed wire armbands. Or copying the text tats on Angelina Jolie's ribcage.
On the other hand, a truly original design executed by a tattooist with real talent can be sublime. But that's expensive and time consuming, and all too often, people just don't have the patience to do it RIGHT.

When I was a kid, my negative reactions were visceral. As an aging man, these negative reactions have changed little, if at all, but I can at least be able to explain why.

Identity is part of it, but another part is hiding the emotional signals we make with our faces. If I see someone with sunglasses, there's a part of my brain that says "douchebag." That's not fair, but I think it's a rebellion against someone hiding a fundamental way that humans stay in touch with the people around them, even strangers.

I never use it. I rarely hear it in actual conversation. I can't even recall hearing it once among the people I hang around with. It seems to be much more popular online than in real life - at least, in my experience. Of course, I don't hang out at the projects.

i didnt realize that until i had that pointed out to me. It was used as a sig on Usenet in the 90s by someone super cool. it got picked up by some of the Silicon Valley and Hollywood people. I was at a dot.com in the dot.com boom. We'd had a good run on a couple of fronts and I ended up in Miami at a launch party with the CEO. He'd been at some sort of CEO conference where some other CEOs had had their employees get logo tattoos and he was a competitive little bitch and he really wanted one of us to do so. (There was a whole incentive program for getting your car logo-wrapped, but he was pissed that he missed the tattoo wave).
So all weekend long he was egging us on, trying to get someone to go for it. 500 options? No way. 1,000 options? Seriously, the things vested over four years. No!
Finally it was Sunday night and he was desperate. We were at a sidewalk cafe on South Beach. He said, "OK, 5,000 options but you have to get a total stranger to do it with you".
I'd been making eye contact with my buddy who was part of the bidding and we nodded at each other. He did the thing I couldn't have done. He stood up and started asking passers by. It took him only three asks.
We took a kid to a tattoo parlor, paid him $200 plus the cost of the tattoo, and we each got logos tattooed on ourselves.
This of course was January of 2000 so instead of getting a half million dollar tattoo I got a souvenir of having been in the dot.com thing when it reached peak silly.

Norton is not a good place to be, by all accounts. Heck, Windows has a free virus tool you can download, which is supposed to be pretty good, and it's the one I use. Most times I hear a story about an antivirus messing something up, it's Norton. OK, sometimes MacAfee.

only two of mine do it. One just passed and the other has gotten really fat but goes nutso for milk rings. I think she kinda learned it from Mo, Bless his heart, when she was a kitten. Now hes gone but she still does it. Mos replacement doesnt play fetch i dont THINK... but we just got her saturday and we are calling her Prisoner 54 because we have to keep her in the bathroom, and she only gets supervised time out in the house, to make sure the other inmates dont jump her or she gets in fights with them.
I am pretty sure Grimmy will teach her something he wants dogs but since we cant right now he consoles himself by teaching his cats tricks

I have exactly two tattoos. The first, on the back of my neck, I got in April of 2000, when I was 45, to mark my spiritual epiphany. I never see it, because it's on the back of my neck (duh). Mr. Deplorable used to kiss it on a regular basis.
The second I got in November of 2000, in memory of my father who died earlier that year.
I find that tattoos help me to avoid judgey people and/or employers who are best avoided. We wouldn't play well together. So far I've found a 1:1 correlation. So, yeah. Very useful, like a canary in a coal mine (without the dying).

I don't think Joe is liberal - but you're right that he's one of those druggies who believes he's a deep-thinker, and he just isn't. He's not a smart guy, and when he tries to sound smart it's embarrassing. But he can be funny when he stays in his wheelhouse.

And yeah, I loved Anthony on O&A and as a guest on Red Eye. He is pretty witty and semi smart on issues but his personal life is a total disaster. All the stupid young drama queen whores that he hooks up with and dates and dumps ---you could tell that was going to eventually blow up in his face. And it did. Boy, did it. I loved that show too. The idea was inspired -- get some comedians in the room and get them competing to be off-the-cuff funny. It worked, but I'm not sure that Comedy Central ever quite realized what they had there.

to be pretty good, and it's the one I use. Most times I hear a story
about an antivirus messing something up, it's Norton. OK, sometimes

I'm on Windows 7 still. There's a couple other computers connected to the account and for the most part Norton's has been problem free.
I just remember having to uninstall and reinstall a couple of years back for some reason. This time, I had downloaded AdAware for some reason and that seems to have messed it up. It's working now.

Apple then locks me out of my icloud services.
Then I go online and it asks me to answer security questions that I set up like 15 years ago.
I also fail those.
I go in to the Apple store with my ID. Surely they can help me.
No, they cannot. Because they follow the Big Corporate Protocol, and have a nice day, drop dead.
So, emails, contacts, photos, spreadsheets, tax information on the icloud, all gone. Poof.
F*ck Apple. All I can see in my mind is that self righteous dick smoker Tim Cook and I go ballistic.
I will never spend another penny on those worthless assholes. I will go back to cuneiform tablets first.

Yeah, it was him and Doug Stanhope on the Man Show revival. Rogan had a tiny bit of fame before that as a Newsradio cast member. Was maybe most famous at one point for hosting Fear Factor. I listened to a book he did on stuff parents tell kids. It should have been possible to keep it neutral throughout and not drive off big chunk of the potential market. But no, I was about a third in and he decides to throw in an aside that puts me in a very 'screw you, too, Ken' mood for the rest of the book.
If you ask him, he'd probably be mystified as to why anyone would be offended. Surely the kind of people who oppose is cherished leftist beliefs are illiterate and not reading books, I imagine he'd suggest.

However, a dermatologist friend has told me there are ungodly amounts of $$$$ being poured into R ampersand D on tattoo removal. Anticipating a ginormous market when the tattoo generations (starting mostly when - 1990s?) reach a certain age.
Indicating at a minimum that views thereon apparently tend to change with age.

So today I shot three different 30-06 loads for the M1 (TAC powder, increments of .5 grain only).
(100 yds, rested). One bullseye had a scattered bunch of hits, but not terrible. Second bullseye had a similar outcome.
Third (biggest charge), had an actual group (2 pairs touching, all 8 within a circle of 5 inches or so) - but low and left, outside the black.
Operator error (even rested) always figures in my results, but I found this odd. Most guys at the range said clearly the off-bullseye group was the right load. But the other charges yielded at least 50% reasonably close to actual bullseye.

The process currently is laser removal, and there's some recovery time - they could probably get it so that your skin feels normal much quicker, or make the process itself faster.
Derm is an odd specialty - the big bucks are in MOHS (a skin cancer treatment), hair transplants, and other purely cosmetic stuff. My folks have always done more of the grunt work.

Sounds like your most accurate load (as far as group size goes), resulted in enough of a change to the burn propagation rate and resulting barrel harmonic, to have affected the point of impact vs. the point of aim.
But, I'd load up another six en-bloc clips of that recipe, and bench it out over an hour or two, just to see if it proves consistent.
If, after the 3rd clip, it IS consistent, change your sight to coincide with the actual impact point.
And if someone at the range has a chrono, get some numbers on those. Not just for top velocity, but for the velocity of each and every round.
High and low matter for the average, but what matters more is the Standard Deviation. That's the consistency, or not, of your load.
Hope you deduce the magic!

Thing is, this rifle is already zeroed in pretty well for my otherwise standard load (4064, same projectile, 150g).
But I plan to do as you say, load up another few clips of the largest load from today, and see what happens.
There was a bias to the left in all the results - either I didn't move that front sight *quite* far enough back to the left, or somehow the wind was a factor (but at 100 yds with these velocities, doubtful). At worst, I can move the sight up one click for this particular powder to correct the low impact.

How long do you think it takes to train for that? My good friend wants me to do that with him. It sounds horrible and I'm loathe to do it but I like challenges and it would be good for me physically. I'll ask my friend who does all these races how long he trained for his first one. He's a bit of a workout snob, so sometimes he looks down on 'casuals' doing these events, but I don't share his attitude - everyone starts somewhere. Also, it all depends on what you're expecting - do you just want to finish the race, or do you want to compete?
IIRC the Tough Mudder is one of the obstacle races where you can bypass obstacles that you can't do by doing burpees instead, and as one of my trainers likes to say, everyone can do burpees, they just suck. I think it's considered one of the friendlier ones for newbies, too, but I'll ask Dean which race he's done that he thinks is best for someone's first rodeo.

I mentioned Arashiyama, short trip outside Kyoto by local street car and train, more for fall colors, but also nice river, some historic sites, and excellent examples of the Kyoto traditional high cuisine of small bites.
Nara is pretty good (annoying deer), and should be pretty this time of year.
Around Kyoto there's plenty - imperial palace, the temples and shrines up the hill, where you walk higher and higher; the Golden Temple; and the shrine or temple that has the famous zen rock garden. Also the Nishiki Market downtown (tho hard to beat New Year's Eve day, when I was there, for bustle and tradition) - there was a ramen place we ate that I swear was smaller than large walk-in closets I've used.

broseidon, your Mosin manufacture year will be right on top of the receiver, towards the back (the large area where the chamber is, either hexagonal or round). The arsenal will be either Izhevsk (arrow through triangle) or Tula (star).
(unless your rifle is pre-1928, then the markings may be different)
Whether it saw action would be impossible to say, of course ("if they could talk"). But since most Mosins were produced prior to 1945, there's always the possibility.

Oh, forgot - in Tokyo, if you have any military history bug, the Yasukuni Shrine museum. Excellent museum (sadly they cleaned some jaw-dropping text that was in the China war section).

Tula 1929, excellent. Tula was evacuated in WWII due to the German advance, so there are fewer rifles from that plant than Izhevsk, hence a bit more valuable and less common. The older Tula rifles have this great long-winded inscription in Russian (instead of the star) "first weapons factory of the USSR".

we also have two AN/PVS2 starlight scopes with IDF cases and markings.
