Lee Ermey Compares the BREN to the BAR Advantage: BREN. The True Inspiration For James Bond: Triple Agent Dusan Popov Popov was part of the Twenty Committee of double agents who made the program work. Dubbed "Tricycle," Popov was a triple agent supposedly working for Yugoslavian intelligence, the German military intelligence apparatus the Abwehr, and the British, hence his odd alias. He spoke fluent German, had many highly placed German friends, and ran an import/export business, all perfect cover for a spy. He absolutely loathed the Nazis, which ironically turned out to be the reason he was recruited by them. His Abwehr contact, Johann Jebsen, was a close friend from Popov's college days and hated the Nazis as much as Popov did. Jebsen cheerfully lied about Popov's dedication to the Nazi cause, likely doing so to his superiors even as Popov himself was asking the British if they could use a double agent. Popov was central to, among other deceptions, Operation Bodyguard, which tricked the Nazis into believing an invasion at Calais was imminent, directing men and weapons far, far away from the real invasion at Normandy. 1 in a Billion: Cop Disables Suspect's Gun by Shooting Bullet into Its Barrel News You Can Use: What's The Difference Between K2 And Marijuana? Heavy-Duty recoil therapy for me today.
30 rounds of 7.62x54r. Not bad shooting either. Most in 8 ring or better of 8 inch round target. Open sights. 50 yards. Couple of boxes of 1 ounce slugs from ol' Mossy. and some Buffalo Bore 180gr 357, smoking out of the barrel at 1400fps. A fun time. Then I return to this news, and wish I had taken more careful aim instead of just plinking. Posted by: OneEyedJack at July 14, 2016 11:29 PM (kKHcp) 34
Unintentionally shooting a bullet down an adversary's barrel isn't QUITE as miraculous as it seems. As I recall, a lot of wounds in gunfights occur to the hands and arms, more than one would think. It's because tunnel vision sets in and people tend to focus on the gun. Stands to reason that that is where the bullets end up going. Posted by: IllTemperedCur at July 14, 2016 11:29 PM (LuZz8) 35

I admit I use a pad on the stock on my Mosins. That way shooting 50-75 rounds is far less painful the next day. Recall that, at least in fall and winter, Soviet soldiers had fairly heavy coats that would have considerably cushioned the recoil impact of those steel butt plates.

I checked out my stupid well. The tank was good, charge was fine, slightly low pressure, only had lost a couple psi in over a year, maybe two. No leaks, stand pipe in well holding pressure fine.
So, that means the air blowing was most likely, almost certainly the water level getting down to the intake down there and letting it suck air. It straightened out and hasn't done it again, but this is likely going to be a problem. We hadn't been using any more water than normal, likely less. It's been drier than it is now, and for much longer and this well never gave a peep of trouble through all that. Something is happening, and it's likely the start of some trouble with that well. This system has gone over 30 years without a peep of trouble. I've got it on a separate electrical service, little pole job, and I had to replace that about 5 years ago or so. But that's not the water, it's the power. Posted by: publius (not Breitbart publius) at July 14, 2016 11:36 PM (DW+jj) 62

Part of me wants to snark that France obviously has poor delivery-truck control, and they need a no-drive list, and as the whole probable cause, due process thing hasn't had much influence in French jurisprudence since, well, ever, they could easily do it. But then I'd never be able to rent a car in France again. Maybe I can't anyway if I don't pay my Italian ZTL ticket.

I don't anticipate reloading 54R for ..... some time.
Jim, I know you jest but I'm comfortable with my man-card status, but I find it more convenient to use the removable pad, I also put it on the shotgun. "The True Inspiration For James Bond: Triple Agent Dusan Popov"
There were several "inspirations". Fleming said at one point something along the lines of how Bond was just a piece of fluff he had made up, and that Bond "was no Sidney Reilly". Regardless of the inspirations, Fleming's fictional Bond implicitly trained generations of Western spies to emulate flashy gadget-reliant cinema personalities, while the competing Soviet system trained generations of deliberately unobtrusive "gray men" who worked without notice or much technological assistance. Many Soviet spies weren't even taught to shoot. Decades on, it's clear that it was game, set and match to the gray men. Posted by: torquewrench at July 14, 2016 11:47 PM (noWW6) 127

From the Popov article, seems very unlikely Jebsen or any German would actually have known any real details about Overlord (Normandy operation). Very very very closely held info. The double-cross system in the UK (turned/fake German agents) surely would have been given nothing. Gunfire alone doesn't reliably do the job. You really need something like a LAW rocket with a detuned warhead. If you could think, and the differential covers are thin steel, concentrated rifle fire at the differential case could screw it up and stop it. And you could test the .50 BMG through an engine block. It will have to go through the body.
I think you want something like 20mm cannon to be sure to take out a truck like that. Or RPGs, shit like that. If you just put a pile of concentrated rifle fire, .308 speed, all at the front, you'd eventually do some show stopping damage to the engine. The cooling system would be destroyed easily, but that takes time. I think the best is to try to kill the driver quickly. That doesn't stop the vehicle, but it ends conscious control. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at July 15, 2016 12:06 AM (GSdpU) In theory. In reality, you'd have to be positioned in such a place with rifle in hand that as soon as a vehicle presented itself as a threat, you punch into that primary tank. The downside is that with all the check valves and other tanks, and a compressor running at engine speed, those tanks won't bleed out fast enough to pop the spring brakes before an attack like Nice is accomplished. Even with a 30 cal hole in one side and a 40 cal hole in the other. Posted by: OneEyedJack at July 15, 2016 12:12 AM (kKHcp) 242

Actually RKae as I'm sure you know we took out a lot more than two cities. With larger loss of life than the more famous two at the end.
Yet I believe that both in Japan and Germany, US occupation forces were received fairly well (or even better in some cases), and there was no evident resentment for the destruction (both countries were just leveled). And this was after the Japanese regime had tried to convince the populace our troops would be baby-killing maniacs. Friend's father went ashore in Kyushu with the USMC, streets of small towns were deserted, they found a few people and those people (over loudspeakers) explained it was OK to come out of the woods back into town. And baseball pre-dated the war and occupation. Famous baseball player/Japanese-speaker Moe Berg did "goodwill" tours of Japan before the war ...... and was working with US intel. I remember a while back when I first got that LR-308, I had this old battery box in the scrap iron heap. It was from some old earth moving equipment that someone had discarded out the woods near some job site. The bottom had rusted out, and they just threw it away.
The sides were still good, and some thick steel. It was somewhere between 1/8" and 1/4" eyeballing it. It was heavy. It still had yellow paint on it, and made a good long range target. I put a scope on the thing and was sighting it in. I just used the lazy man's trick of short zeroing, taking advantage of the near zero equalling a long zero. I then put the yellow battery box at the long range zero, then fine tuned it. Those .308s at 200 yds, or 250 or whatever it was I was going for would punch a clean hole through one side, then take a bigger hole out of the back, doing more bending on the back side. So yep, thinking about that, it probably would punch a hole in a standard air tank first time, head on. I remember I had FMJ and some soft point crap. I think both of them would punch threw fairly easily, soft point making a bigger ripping hole on the back or something. "nope we should show everything and replay the 9-11 tapes every year."
There are certain pieces of live footage I recall seeing on 9/11/01 that went directly down the memory hole starting on 9/12/01. Fifteen years later, it is as though none of those things ever even happened. Our Betters figured we were better off not seeing that stuff again. The jumpers were kept out of public view, lest the populace get really ticked off at the monsters who attacked us. And then that ridiculous weirdness where all of the movies and tv stations decided not to show anything with the Twin Towers in it. That had to be the craziest thing I had ever heard of. And offensive, too. After all, if we did, we might start to question some of the stuff that Our Betters were sonorously decreeing to us at the time and ever since, starting with "Islam is a religion of peace". Posted by: torquewrench at July 15, 2016 12:39 AM (noWW6) Yep. And it was only after 9/11 that, all of sudden, women in burkhas started popping up all over our cities, muzzies started demanding that they be allowed to have drivers licenses with nothing but pictures of their burkhas on them, muzzies started demanding that they would not carry seeing-eye dogs in the taxis they drove, wouldn't work at checkout counters that had pork pass through ... And now we have more muslim immigration in the last few years than we have had in the entire history of our nation (and of the whole New World) ... importing these primitives as if they're going out of style or something. Posted by: Maetenloch at July 15, 2016 01:00 AM (pAlYe) I said all this about Bush's strategy back when it started. I supported the invasion of Iraq, but that was supposed to be just to wrest control of the oil fields from the savages and to provide a base to move on Iran, who were the most serious and largest threat. Bush went into Iraq correctly but then pussed out on the larger strategic plan that had to be carried out. He didn't take control of the oil fields and he didn't put a government in charge that could keep the place truly in line. He blew it in Afghanistan, too. Again, he barely won things there. Barely. He left Iran untouched - even as iran had been actively fighting against us in iraq.. He left things barely being held together by rented arab mobs in iraq and afghani puppets - who weren't the right kinds of puppets or mobs. It was a total mess and it was all because Bush only did the absolute minimum. This is not some view I have come to in hindsight. If you so demand I guess I could find comments I posted here, at the time, that detail all of these problems (and more) that I have written over the many years. We will plan no new major military campaigns there in the immediate future (the next three years), but invasions of Iran or Syria or even Saudi Arabia are conceivable sometime in the next 20 years if their leaders refuse to cooperate in reforming, or if hostile and activist regimes take power." I'll say it again: Bush 43 got sold a bill of goods by Rumsfeld and the rest of the DoD, something his dad would not have bought into (and which, in fact, according to Woodward, he explicitly kicked back in Powell's lap as bullshit.) Either you blow up everything in sight and you leave and accept the consequences, or you send in enough force to occupy the place. GWB sent in enough force to blow the place up, then tried to occupy with that. Bad enough. Doubling down on bad, he had Army brass selling a 'force protection' (as in 'never mind military effectiveness, we won't take casualties') policy that eliminated any possibility of an effective occupation with the undersize force on hand. There are wars of necessity and there are wars of convenience, and just how many successful wars of convenience has this country fought since we got Texas and the West in 1848? Spain/Cuba/Phillipines in 1898? Grenada? 1991 in Kuwait (which should have been the model for 2003, but Rumsfeld didn't have the boots any longer)? We've screwed up a bunch more. I agreed with Bush's strategy. I think it was worth a chance to bring Western notions of governance* to the Muslim world and hope that it would stimulate them to advance into the 21st century. It was worth a try.
(*But not "democracy". Doesn't everybody understand by now what the Founders knew, that democracy is not a stable form of government?) The alternative was to nuke them back to the Stone Age, which wouldn't be a long trip in their case. But Bush's strategy was doomed to failure, because no long-term strategy can work when the government changes hands every few years. The incoming administration repudiates the policy of its predecessor and implements its own policy. It doesn't matter which party does this. It is inherent in Western-style "democracy". I have argued that this is the reason why there has been no meaningful progress in space since the 60s. It was a historical accident that one party controlled the government during the entire period of Project Apollo, and that it was a useful battle in the Cold War. Since then, the government's space policies have varied because the government changes hands every few years, and every new administration wants to start over from scratch. The same phenomenon happens with long-term open-ended wars. Posted by: rickl at July 15, 2016 01:36 AM (sdi6R) 430

It was known to anyone who knew anything about arab culture. Because if they can't be, the alternative strategies are much uglier and nastier - and riskier. And people are rather glib about them when they shouldn't be. Glib? What do I care if the arabs make a threat of themselves to such an extent that someone finally figures out that they have to be taken out? I really don't give a shit what happens to them. But, if you have ever followed what I have been saying for a long, long time ... that is not what is necessary. Control of the gulf oil fields is the key - and always has been. All the power - financial, political, military, ... all power - of the arab/persian/muslim world starts and stosp with control of the gulf oil fields. That is the key. Without those fields (that they stole from Western companies, BTW) the APM world is totally defanged and neutered. >> One could hope for a better strategy than that.
Wars of necessity are often, by definition, a gamble. A war of convenience should NEVER be a gamble. You should be prepared to expend immediate and overwhelming force and you must bring it to closure in two to three years. Otherwise - like I said, it's a war of convenience, if you aren't sure you can't win then you need to think about whether you should go at all. If the issue at hand is serious enough then fifty thousand dead in one year in a thoroughly successful campaign is vastly preferable to five thousand dead per year in something that drags on inconclusively for a decade. If the issue isn't serious enough to make that commitment then you better consider what you're doing in the first place. Posted by: JEM at July 15, 2016 01:40 AM (o+SC1) 437

Create an environment such that the natives of the colonies see an economic and social incentive to become Christian, or at least non-muslim, and with islam ruthlessly repressed, they also see a window of opportunity to get out without being murdered for it. It's been a long day, and I'm tired, so I won't dig up the original quote. But one of Bush's aides later assessed him as being fundamentally, intrinsically incapable of seeing religion -- any religion -- as being a detrimental or retrograde force in human affairs. If it's religious, per Dubya, it's good. Doesn't matter what or which. It's good. A positive factor in human affairs. Full stop. End of discussion. If self-professed adherents of a particular religion do terrible things? Why, then, they must simply have been misguided. It can't possibly have been a result of their religious faith. And there aren't enough non-Muslims to come anywhere close to filling all the necessary government positions. Plus I can't think of any case where an occupying force was ever able to force a population to convert away from their current religion and stop practicing it without near genocidal levels of killing. The closest analogy might be the Spanish conquest but even then it took decades of missionary work and was helped along by a lot of native american deaths from various means. Not to mention that Islam has some features that make it a much harder nut to crack than the religions of central and south america at that time. Posted by: Aetius451AD at July 15, 2016 02:00 AM (3ZoRf) Christianity bears a direct relation to Judaism - it started as a jewish sect - but islam bears no relationship to either Judaism or Christianity. None. mo just made up some fantasy that the arabs descended from Ishmael, but that was a laughable lie even at the time. mo just made that up to buy him and his new political ideology some quickie religious credentials so he stole from Judaism and Christianity and just inserted himself and the arabs in. Voila! It would be like some guy in India making up a new religion and claiming that his ancestor was George Washington's hidden half-brother ... and now claiming Washington DC as his religious capital. No one in their right mind would consider that nuttery related to America or Washington or give any credence to their claims on Washington DC. That's basically what mo did. Judaism and Christianity are closely related. islam is not related in any way, shape, or form (outside of theft) to either of them. 9/11 wasn't a sufficent catalyst for "total war".
It was a Mind Bogglin Event to be sure....but a city wasn't a crater and 2,000plus dead is MUCH easier to rationalize than 1.5million. The 21st Century US Culture is inherently different than WW2 timeframe. Until, which will sadly probably happen, a 6 digit plus body count event takes place, the Powers That Be DO NOT Have the Mandate to eradicate the Problem. Half measures and bullshit will be the norm. Even then, depending on the severity of the event, 21st century culture will likely foil mission success. Frankly, given the interconnected nature of Modern Society, a Problem of this magnitude is unprecendented You cannot just target a regional "bad actor", i.e. Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan like in WW2. Force them into submission an reformation via force. This Problem is an idea. (An insane one, but it has a twisted appeal to human nature, proven by its longevity) To force a fundamental change in worldwide culture.... Well that requires an irresistable/unarguable example/reminder/lesson that leaves only one path for survival. Until a sufficent catalyst spurs such action.... and human nature shows, even today, that people are More Than Capable Of It, this sorta insane shit will happen again, an again, an again...etc. Posted by: Hillbillyking at July 15, 2016 02:20 AM (LQE71) 473

Posted by: Hillbillyking at July 15, 2016 02:20 AM (LQE71) The cultural resistance and reaction was interesting (and sickening) to see in real time. Instead of plastering the videos from 9/11 on TV and posters, we hid them. The images of Arabs celebrating on that day should have been a reminder, but those were hidden away too. You are right though. Until people get a stark and gut level reality check, they will stay asleep because it is not an existential threat. Easier to believe the lies that they are all good people and we must have done something to bring it on ourselves. Posted by: navybrat at July 15, 2016 02:16 AM (w7KSn) That's why a lot fo Jews and Christians accept the idea that arabs decended from Ishmael, since the angel says to hagar: 11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her: 'Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son; and thou shalt call his name Ishmael, because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. 12 And he shall be a wild ass of a man: his hand shall be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the face of all his brethren.' So ... it sounds like the arabs and people generally accepted the whole fantasy. But mo was still just making stuff up out of whole cloth. BTW, mo claimed that ishamel was the one Abraham went to sacrifice, not Isaac. Not only did mo steal from the Old and New Testaments, but he changed the stories and then called Jews and Christians liars because the originals were different from mo's plagiarized versions. Very typically arab. Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at July 15, 2016 02:26 AM (zc3Db) 482

Posted by: Aetius451AD No, they don't qualify. Wrong genre -- more of a disco/bubblegum vibe. Apparently only soft rock by male singer-songwriters are granted security clearance to negotiate on behalf of the US. We're talking James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Seals & Crofts, the Carpenters, Gilbert O'Sullivan, John Denver, Hall & Oates, B.J. THomas, Paul Williams -- you know the type. Most of the genre was insufferable crap, but there are a few gems -- James Taylor's "Carolina on My Mind," the aforementioned King Harvest and Gilbert O'Sullivan, the Carpenters' "I Can't Stop Lovin' You," and a few others. It's a very specific genre -- no hard rock, fast songs, disco, new wave, synthesizers, bubblegum pop or edgy music of any kind allowed. Besides, ABBA are Swedish citizens, so they're enemy agents to begin with! Posted by: zombie at July 15, 2016 02:29 AM (jBuUi) 483

Agreed. A new colonial era. Invade, occupy, exploit the living shit out of them, but also endeavor to extirpate islam in all its forms, by any means necessary. Create an environment such that the natives of the colonies see an economic and social incentive to become Christian, or at least non-muslim, and with islam ruthlessly repressed, they also see a window of opportunity to get out without being murdered for it.
Set it up so, that only Christians, or Jews, or Hindus, whatever can be employed by the colonial government, or get into good schools, or good jobs, or good housing. Anyone who tries to propagate islam gets whacked. Did anyone catch the headline "Marty Feldman's Wife Banned" at the bottom of the faux Mirror front page from "A Clockwork Orange"? What's up with that? I had not recalled that Malcolm MacDowell's character Alex had the last name "Burgess", which was the last name of author Anthony Burgess, who wrote the book on which the movie was based. IIRC, he was not a fan of the movie. Adrienne Corri, who passed away earlier this year, played the woman who was raped by Alex and his droogs. The singing of the song, "Singin' in the Rain" during that act was an improvisation, IIRC. Corri also played Lara's (i. e. Julie Christie's) mother who attempted suicide in "Doctor Zhivago". Jeez, I'm horning in on MPPPP's turf here. Appy-poly-loggies. Is there a producer and director out there brave enough to remake "A Clockwork Orange", brought up to date with Alex and his droogs being Muslim and showing European governments' obsequiousness toward them? The air tanks are the cylindrical tanks on either side down low. There are two you need to hit. They are mostly independent, so losing one does not lock the brakes. Normal air pressure is around 100 psi. That air pressure overcomes some large springs that want to slam the brake pads together. At around 60 psi, or at least 30 psi, the spring forces overcome the air pressure. The brakes come together, and the vehicle stops. It's not like a lock the brakes and skid, but it happens fast. However, this quote alone should illustrate the general level of insanity involved: "There is no way to predict whether any more significant military operations will be needed in this multi-decade war to bring about fundamental reform in the Arab/Muslim region. We will plan no new major military campaigns there in the immediate future (the next three years), but invasions of Iran or Syria or even Saudi Arabia are conceivable sometime in the next 20 years if their leaders refuse to cooperate in reforming, or if hostile and activist regimes take power." It's a "desire" for a multi-decade war. That is insanity. There is no end but multiple additional invasions unless somehow a miracle occurs. Yeah, no. Bush failed, utterly failed, at the only two tasks that mattered. He failed to close the borders and he failed to name the enemy. Bush made a bad situation worse by accelerating the importation of unassimilatable foreigners and by giving the noxious doctrine of Islam cover as "the religion of peace." He further did his level best to drown us with Latin American immigration so that his family and others could establish feudal control over the American people - turning us into peasants in their new world order. The Bush family are traitors. If America survives, they will be remembered that way in the history books. Posted by: ChicagoRefugee at July 15, 2016 04:05 AM (d6d5H) 554

I was trying to explain earlier today to my mother why this conflict was unlike anything in our history, despite it having a long history. Reaching the stage of civilization where mass extermination of an enemy is abhorrent puts you at a severe disadvantage against a foe who is both nihilist and entirely alright unlimited casualties on both sides. They even have a rationale that makes it alright with their god if some of their own are among the collateral damage.

It is often heard in Constitutional Law classes that the Constitution is not a suicide pact. Though it has to be remembered that there was once a lot of votes behind the idea of not letting Catholics immigrate on the basis that they were loyal to a foreign power. I recently read a biography of Samuel Morse, who is best remembered for the telegraph but was a very public voice about such issues in his lifetime. More recently, there was serious discussion of whether JFK would go against the Pope if the Papacy had a disagreement with US policy. The language used to justify any action that could be viewed as outlawing a religion while respecting the 1st Amendment has to be very precise. An argument can be made that one cannot be an observant Muslim and not violates the Constitutional rights of non-Muslims but you could make the same argument about orthodox Jews. Some of the stuff in Exodus where Moses is laying down the laws God dictates after the 10 Commandments get pretty extreme to modern ears. (In 'Outrageous Tales From The Old Testament' a comic strip portrayal depicts the crowd listening to Moses executing guilty members as each law is proclaimed, until the last listener is left to bash his own head in with a rock, so that when Moses finishes and looks up he finds himself surrounded by corpses.) This is what I mean about civilizational identity. The British Empire could possibly have wiped out Islam if they regarded it as an existential threat rather than something happening far, far away but who today could do it? China? Would you want to share the globe with a China that had done that? Posted by: Epobirs at July 15, 2016 04:53 AM (IdCqF) 587

I highly recommend the Robert Spencer book 'Did Mohammed Exist?' He finds there is little or no evidence for the Koran existing in anything like the final form until a good two centuries after Mohammed's supposed lifetime. It looks very likely that the bulk of the writing didn't come about until the Arabs had themselves a newborn empire and and needed a unifying mythology to bind it together while it expanded. I'm willing to exterminate 90% of each group for other reasons without entertaining the thought that it's genocide -- that's about 450 million Arabs; 1.5 billion Muslims, 72 million Iranians, and I won't even begin on the Semites (there's obviously significant overlap). So I'm willing to entertain about 1.5 billion people as potential targets for righteous extermination not because of their ethnic, national, racial or religious character.....because that would be genocide, which I happen to think is wrong....but because they are anti-western jihadis. But if there are 500 million Arabs and 450 million of them are anti-western jihadis, I wouldn't allow "but you're killing 90% of the Arabs" to be a defense in exterminating the anti-western jihadis. If there are 1.7 billion Muslims in the world, and 1.5 billion of them are anti-western jihadis, I'm not going to hold back on exterminating 1.5 billion of them for being anti-western jihadis just because some shrieking protester wants to accuse me of genocide against Muslims. We have somehow allowed a situation where, once a certain proportion of a protected group becomes assholes, assholery gains protection. That is insane. Posted by: creeper at July 15, 2016 04:59 AM (FiNj9) FL attempted to take action in such a case years ago. The adherents of fringe cult Santeria had a practice of ritual slaughter of chickens and other animals, sometimes in the streets of the city. The city banned this ceremony. Of course they sued and the city was upheld in all the courts all the way to the Supremes. The liberals on that court then reversed all the lower courts and upheld that it was a violation of the first amendment. The liberals had finally found a religion they liked. Good Morning Morons. Today is Friday, July 15, 2016. On this day in 1823 a fire almost completely destroyed the ancient Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls in Rome, Italy. The church was originally constructed on the site of the grave of St. Paul around 370 AD. The fire was caused by a negligent workman pouring molten lead on the roof for repairs. It was rebuilt and reopened in 1840. Although outside, The Vatican it is owned and maintained by the Vatican.

That's why I said a form. The way it was used by the Romans is frequently inverted by those using it in modern settings but it has become so common that it is necessary to not use the term without definition.
The context is often neglected by those who misunderstand the classical meaning. Prisoners could be ransomed or enslaved. A personal anecdote....in about 1998, I "inherited" the financial affairs for a small manufacturing company in Silicon Valley. One of the ongoing problems this company faced was an EEOC investigation regarding a black employee who had left the company months before my hire. In addition, all of his supervisors were long gone.
Y'know, it was probably stupid for me to have accepted the job.... Except that things started getting better after my hire and I spent the next 7.5 years there.... Anyway, the EEOC came in and said, "you're treating this person badly because they're black" -- and I crafted a defense based on "everyone got treated badly, and this person was treated better than most." The fact is, we've been shitting on people all over the world and handling horrible assholes with kid-gloves. Several witnesses from his work group were called in and testified how they were sick and tired of doing his work load. That was it for me. It was hard to get fired from this company if you were white and much much harder if your were a female or black. Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at July 15, 2016 06:33 AM (mpXpK) 678

One of the fun bits from the concert tonight was when Sting noted that he and Peter Gabriel had been in the US for about a month -- during which, the UK government had gone completely nuts [fair enough...].
He then sang the first verse of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKIkzGGAG9s .... which, mind you, had originally been done by a much-younger Peter Gabriel in Genesis. I just wish he had continued through, instead of doing an immediate segue into "Message in a Bottle". With the Hill article about the latest polls, anyone notice the same thinking as the Jeb? campaign? "We're outspending Trump 40-1, thus there is nothing to worry about," is the thinking. I don't think TV ads do much anymore. That's especially true when the candidates are already well defined.
