Department of Justice Declares War on North Carolina To exactly no one's surprise, the Obama Department of Justice has sent a letter to North Carolina governor Pat McRory demanding that that the state "not comply with or enforce H.B. 2" - it's so-called transgender bathroom law. The reason? The DOJ claims that it violates Title VII, a statute that doesn't reference sexual orientation or gender identity at all - a statute that the Obama administration and various activist courts have purported to lawlessly expand entirely by executive and judicial fiat. Kuwait Airways Stops Inter-European Flights Rather Than Accept Israeli Passengers How Michelle Obama F*cked Up School Lunches When first lady Michelle Obama championed rewriting the old school lunch menus along new and improved nutritional guidelines, the idea was to limit portion size and increase kids' consumption of fruits and vegetables. To encourage school districts to participate in the program, the government increased the amount it would reimburse schools per meal and increased, as well, the number of children eligible for reduced-price and free lunches. The reimbursements were offered as a way schools could offset the cost of the new and more expensive menus. But once those reimbursements are built into their budgets, schools are that much more bound by federal mandates, because they can't risk losing the subsidies. And reimbursements can't make up for the fact that kids are choosing to skip lunch rather than eat the new mandated meals. EU To Institute Refugee Quotas German Army Has to Leave NATO Exercises Early Because of Overtime Rules Nothing Lasts Like Temporary Protected Status The TPS amnesty for 200,000 Salvadoran illegals after a 2001 earthquake has been routinely renewed. The TPS amnesty for 60,000 Hondurans and Nicaraguans following Hurricane Mitch in 1998 has also been routinely renewed. Liberians were the first to benefit from TPS after Congress enacted the law in 1990 (to rein in unilateral executive actions) - and they're still here. The TPS amnesty because of Ebola in West Africa was just extended despite the fact that the Ebola outbreak is now over. No one has ever been made to leave the country because his TPS amnesty expired. Cass Sunstein is one of the most evil people on the planet. "Nudge" is about annoying people to a state just shy of rebellion about stupid, petty things -- because then you can maintain that state forever by backing-off if challenged or increasing it if not....that way, you don't have to worry about actual rebellion because people have used up their pissed-off quota going-on about transgendered bathrooms.

Neighbors wife works at the local high school cafeteria as a cook.
She has complained about Michelle's school lunch program for the past three years. It's caused the school to end a contract with one lunch supplier, and now mandates everything is to be cooked onsite. That doesn't sound bad, except it mandates what must be cooked and served as the article states. According to the wife, they throw out incredible amounts of food that the kids will not eat. The district's food costs have skyrocketed, necessitating restructuring the cafeteria program, raising lunch fees, and reducing the work force. According to other women - and is as the article explains girl-pretty but not necessarily boy-pretty.
Because women like to promote other women as "pretty" who aren't so much so that they compare more favorably. And also because women generally don't want to accept that men like what they do. "Let it burn!!" Posted by: qdpsteve at May 05, 2016 12:05 AM (ntObR) There is a story that dates back 2000 years, to a time when rich men were routinely hauled before the Roman Emperor, accused of treason, and sentenced to death.....so that their forfeited estates could fill the Imperial treasury. One man was hauled in, terrified, and was asked why he should be allowed to live. Stammering, looking about wildly, he spied Caesar's horse (which was standing in a corner of the audience chamber) -- and blurted out: "I am a man of great talents -- I could teach that horse to sing!" Nonplussed, Caesar paused.....then chuckled, then laughed-out-loud. He called to his guards and told them to unbind the man, and give him the lead to the horse. He then declared that he would see this horse sing within the year or the man's life was forfeit. As he passed out of the Imperial Palace, horse in tow, he was met by some friends. "What is wrong with you?", they said -- "you are now under a sentence of death. You know damned well that nobody has ever taught a horse to sing." And the man replied, "my friends, there is a lot that can happen in a year. I could die naturally. Rome might fall. Caesar could die......or, the horse, it could sing!" There is a lot that can happen between now and the convention; there is a lot that can happen between now and the election; there is a lot that can happen between now and the inauguration.....or Donald Trump might be a great President. Anybody notice a big boo-boo in the James Earl Ray story? They showed photographs purportedly of two different hotel rooms he occupied in London, but they are the same photo, flipped left to right, and one is black and white, one color. Same saggy bed, same wallpaper, same fixtures. Same room.

This axiom - politics is downstream of culture - may be true, but it misses the point, in the case of the US. What made the US different was that most of real life was shielded from "politics" - limited government, *individual* sovereignty and rights, guardrail after guardrail.
It's not "culture" that ever allowed affirmative action, in any form, to exist for a nano-second (it obviously never should have, being a definitional violation of both constitutional and mainstream normative "rules"). "Culture" didn't propel selective limited marriage redefinition - in fact "culture" mostly rejected it. "Culture" didn't have anything to do with a single justice just making s**t up out of thin air on federal tax law, or statutory construction, to rescue an idiotic, facially unconstitutional law or to allow comically lawless administrative dictate to (briefly) keep the activities it mandated (barely) oxygenated. All these things happened not because "culture", but because dissolution of constitutional standards, of judicial integrity, and the breakdown of the rule of law. Culture doesn't matter one way or the other, for what was the US system, if the guardrails and integrity and responsible behavior (termed "virtue" in previous eras) are gone. My country is still here. Under the layer of filth the progressive left has deposited on it. Needs cleaning. That has to begin--or continue--at the most basic level. DC isn't the place to pin hopes on. In your community, your schools and local politics to the state level. All flows from that. It means each of us gets involved, insignificant though it might seem. I've beat on this for sometime, and it's gratifying to see that a few of you are realizing this. A welcome break from the constant gloom and doom prevalent. Anyway, there's a lot of characteristics she had that are suggestive of that. And there are those who hotly dispute it. Only way to know for sure would be to dig her up and do the testing and that's not going to happen. Posted by: publius (not Breitbart publius) at May 05, 2016 12:41 AM (DW+jj) 235

Why Jennifer Aniston Is The World's Most Beautiful Woman
She isn't. But she's a perennial favorite of disgruntled women because she was dumped by Brad Pit for exotic beauty Angeline Jolie and her publicist really played that up for sympathy with women, giving her a career that was dying after Friends. The answer is that nobody can match up with Janis Joplin. True, it takes real talent to wail tone deaf and creaking like a bag lady on a 10 day bender. Again, that is just speculation about Wallis Simpson, no one knows for sure and it's just one of those things, you know some celebrity really has some exotic condition or something.
Nowadays, CAIS would be detected early, likely in the womb with all the testing they do now. But in the old days, it wouldn't be detected until puberty. At birth, they appear to be normal girls, with a normal vulva. The lack of a proper cervix could be detected but there's usually no reason to do that as infants and children. It will only become known at puberty. Well, the lack of puberty. And then investigating the cause of that would reveal it. They have undescended testicles (there's nothing to descend into), no ovaries nor uterus. And nothing to make female hormones either, so estrogens must be given to complete female puberty. And the testicles removed as they will most likely become cancerous. Posted by: publius (not Breitbart publius) at May 05, 2016 12:57 AM (DW+jj) 265

That always bothers me about a woman who is constantly reaching up and flipping or changing her hair all the time. When she talks, at least some of those clips of Friends I remember (don't think I ever saw a whole episode), it seemed like she was constantly reaching up and brushing her hair back. Throughout the Pacific War, Japanese soldiers often feigned injury or surrender in order to lure the approaching American forces before attacking them. One of the most famous examples of this was the "Goettge Patrol" during the early days of the Guadalcanal Campaign in August 1942. After the patrol saw a white flag displayed on the west bank of Matanikau River, Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel Frank Goettge assembled 25 men, primarily consisting of intelligence personnel, to search the area. Unknown to the patrol, the white flag was actually a Japanese flag with the Hinomaru disc insignia obscured. A Japanese prisoner earlier tricked the Marines by telling them that there were a number of Japanese west of the Matanikau River who wanted to surrender, knowing they would be ambushed. The Goettge Patrol landed by boat west of the Lunga Point perimeter, between Point Cruz and the Matanikau River, on a reconnaissance mission to contact a group of Japanese troops that American forces believed might be willing to surrender. Soon after the patrol landed, a group of Japanese naval troops ambushed and almost completely wiped out the patrol. Goettge was among the dead. Only three Americans made it back to American lines in the Lunga Point perimeter alive. News of the killing and treachery by the Japanese outraged the American Marines:
This was the first mass killing of the Marines on Guadalcanal. We were shocked. Shocked ... because headquarters had believed anything a Jap had to say ... The loss of this patrol and the particularly cruel way in which they had met death, hardened our hearts toward the Japanese. The idea of taking prisoners was swept from our minds. It was too dangerous. http://tinyurl.com/j7uqpms Posted by: Anon Y. Mous at May 05, 2016 02:00 AM (R+30W) Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at May 05, 2016 02:00 AM (zc3Db) 337

Think the first contact between US and Japanese ground forces - aside from the Philippines or Wake, where we were on the defensive, so treachery in surrender was not an issue - was the Tenaru River battle on Guadalcanal. 343 Think the first contact between US and Japanese ground forces - aside from the Philippines or Wake, where we were on the defensive, so treachery in surrender was not an issue - was the Tenaru River battle on Guadalcanal. The one where the Ichiki Detachment ("elite" for Japan) was annihilated by stupidly attacking (and attacking) a well-prepared defensive line.

On the other hand, the Japanese would take the American Marines prisoners when given the opportunity. And then they would torture them for info and kill them. Of course, when their mutilated corpses were found, this further served to harden the attitudes of the Marines towards the Japanese.

Anon. Y. Mous with the correction (sorta) to my comment - the Goettge patrol was the first ground contact of note, the Tenaru battle came a week later or so. But as noted, the earlier incident involved some confusion - the treacherous behavior following the Tenaru battle (false surrender, grenades, etc.) was the first pure case of this behavior that contributed to so few Japanese POWs being taken in the next 3 years.

Yes Jean the racism that was systemic (heh), that was actually an integral part of the ideology and world-view that constituted the rationale for the war, was on the Japanese side.
Racism was obviously an issue in the US (though even *then*, in comparison to all of human history and most of the planet at the time, it was mild), and the more cold-blooded elements of racism played a part in US under-estimates of Japanese capabilities pre-Pearl Harbor, but there is obvious, concrete evidence that the ferocity of much of the ground war in the Pacific from the US side evolved directly from Japanese behavior, not "racism". But this common sense and logic are exotic and incomprehensible in a society where "disparate impact" means a law is unfair because those who break it are ..... disproportionately of one flavor or another. Outside of America kicking their asses, the Japanese had beaten the living shit out of the rest of the Orientals (and then some). There's nothing wrong with a society or group or family or whatever thinking they are superior. It's only a problem when they're really not. But every group has the right to think that it's the best and the modern lefty (and somewhat righty, now, too) idea that there's anything wrong with that is insane. I meant to say the racism - really more than that, a general cultural chauvinism - was an integral part of the twisted ideology the militarists and ultra-nationalists had imposed on Japan. It really wasn't a grass-roots thing, in fact the proponents basically bullied and killed their way to dominance.
And though obviously the total record from 1937 onward is debated, in the early stages a young Hirohito was distrusted by the militarists, as he had shown dangerously western and reasonable attitudes. But it's funny, in a dark way, to see the absurd gymnastics and self-beclowning lengths to which the moral equivalence fanatics will go to soften the focus. The first 80 or so pages of the book "Flyboys" (by the author of Flags of Our Fathers, the son of the last flag-raiser to pass away) stands out as a pretty breath-taking example. Japan wanted oil and status, but there was a comprehensive ideology behind their expansion was as racist and looney tunes as anything the guy with the little moustache dreamed up over in Europe at the time. Japanese behavior somewhat flowed directly from this, so ignoring it is a pretty audacious attempt at distortion, even for the self-hating freaks of distortion. Well actually TPOP, not really, Japan was doing the best of any Asian society completely independent of the nutcase mystical/supremacist/racist crap that was cobbled together by the ultra-nationalists (and it really was goofball stuff that is an outlier in modern Japanese history). Stay out of China and keep developing Japan and they'd have continued to do fine. Most Japanese, all civilian politicians, and half the Navy wanted to do just that.
But my point was really different - that the brutality in the Pacific was very much provoked by one side - at least when we're talking about treatment of combatants and POWs - and had to do with *their* racism, not *ours*. Posted by: rhomboid at May 05, 2016 02:45 AM (QDnY+) 365

And Jean, I was referring of course to our own unrecognizable society with the stuff about "disparate impact". So settling things with napalm is, tragically, not on the menu (yet).
But with that ..... off to continue "Conquering Tide" about the Pacific War in 1942-44. Finished with the "night of the battleships" at Guadalcanal last night (Oct. 15, 1942). Which reminds me: have to rattle the cage of an older friend who *volunteered* to go join a Marine squadron at The Canal when they called for replacements after the devastation of the battleship attack. We haven't seen him in a while and I'm considering every meeting a treasure, given the march of time. Posted by: rhomboid at May 05, 2016 02:50 AM (QDnY+) 367

Absolutely. The Japanese almost demanded such treatment ... and they certainly earned it. - at least when we're talking about treatment of combatants and POWs - and had to do with *their* racism, not *ours*. Posted by: rhomboid at May 05, 2016 02:45 AM (QDnY+) But it wasn't anything about Japanese "racism" that did this. It was more about Japanese culture and their own treatment of captures/prisoners, but that had little to do with any "racism" since the Japs were just as brutal their own when things went that way. Individual life was very cheap in Japanese culture. It is only the uncompromising and merciless way we fought the japanese that allowed to finally surrender. If we had fought them with one hand tied behind our backs (as we have fought SINCE WWII) then the Japs would never have been able to surrender while saving face. They would have had to fight to very last child. Our firebombing and nuking Japanese cities was the only way that the Japs were even able to save themselves. ANything less than that and the Japs would have felt compelled to fight on and on and on. Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at May 05, 2016 02:53 AM (zc3Db) 368

The last I head, Jenna was flat broke. She'd developed an oxycontin habit and other things. A North Carolina law limiting protections to LGBT people violates federal civil rights laws and can't be enforced, the U.S. Justice Department said Wednesday, putting the state on notice that it is in danger of being sued and losing hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding. And it looks like AP hasn't even read the law or is simply doing their normal liberal crap and lying about it. The law does not limit gay rights at all unless there is some hidden right that says men can use women's bathrooms. As I say yesterday, if I was the Governor of NC I would tell Obama and his corrupt AG to piss up a rope and two can play at the game of withholding money. He can freeze all payments from NC to the federal government which would most likely amount to billions. My copy of the Constitution says the federal government has zero authority to dictate bathroom policy to the States and contrary to the lying assholes in the corrupt Obamanite regime, the Civil Rights act has NOTHING in that makes gays protected specie. But they have been trying to get it in there since 1975 and congress has rightfully opposed this, even when Democrats had control. http://tinyurl.com/j2poc56 Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at May 05, 2016 05:30 AM (vvmPQ) 423

With Donald Trump now the certain nominee, Republicans have managed to pick the least reliably conservative candidate out of a field that started with some of the most experienced, dedicated and successful conservatives ever to have thrown their hats into the ring. Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said that you cant live on the current federal minimum wage of $7.25-an-hour and that he was looking at that, because Im very different from most Republicans. I mean, you have to have something that you can live on during an interview broadcast on Wednesdays Situation Room on CNN.
He responded, No, and Im actually looking at that, because Im very different from most Republicans. I mean, you have to have something that you can live on, but what I'm really looking to do, is get people great jobs so they make much more money than that, so they make much money, more money than the $15. Now, if you start playing around too much with the lower level, the lower level number, you're not going to be competitive. Basically he says yes then no, classic BS answer the press let him get away with. When asked what he would recommend as a federal minimum wage, Trump stated, Im looking at it. That sounds to me like if he hasnt already caved he is just about ready to. Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at May 05, 2016 06:24 AM (vvmPQ) 463

It goes without saying that airports, bus stations, city halls and all government facilities are de facto already in Target's camp. Then the Target protest will seem like a mere drop in the ocean.

When I grew up in the 70s I went to a public school that didn't serve school lunches. We either brought our own or went home for lunch. The school was about 95% white, as was the neighborhood. Did you see the part where he said he had no problem with a $15/hr min wage? 510 Now that idiot Trump is talking about minimum wage??? A real conservative would say, "it's not the governments job to make wage levels in private businesses. Period." You'd think as a businessman he's know that. Pure (ish) conservatism ran for office in the form of Ted Cruz. It couldn't get past the primaries. Our nation basically consists of Wal Martians who exist for their own pleasure, their own interests and their own selfish, piggish desires. They want it now and they want it 'free'. Conservatism can't win with that mindset. It is wrong to say that there are no patriots left. But we are the shrinking minority. Hate him personally all you want but what he is doing is purely pragmetic. He is not a businessman right now. He is a politician. What Trump is doing is rhetorically similar to what every candidate does did in order to win. "Do you support x or y?" "I support x and y and whatever people who might vote for me want." He is not playing to you. Or anybody like you. Why? Because you are already in the bag. Or you're not. He can't take giant dump on the minimum wage without losing the votes of at least some percentage of Bernie's more libertarian disaffected millenials. It's a helluva a lot smarter than , oh I don't know, getting branded as the guy who wants to destroy tampons? You handle that kind of silly BS by nuking it in the cradle. I don't know how the states could stop that. Pass a law making the state governments the middlemen for all federal tax revenue, and then let the states use tax revenue to the feds as a type of extortion, the same way the feds use funding as extortion on the states?
