14 I'm tired of having been willowed ALL day long (as I lie here in my sickbed) so I'm copying my last missive here, for any consolation it may provide:

601 (again, having read only half the comments)

Well, see, I've been pleasantly surprised all along that my guy Cruz has gotten as far as he has. Because I always figured he wasn't quite "ripe" to run for president yet. I figured he was young yet and would come into popularity later, at a time more propitious for him, when people were ready to get back to basic truths.

So that amazed me, right there. I think others should take heart in that, too.

These religious shenanigans have NOT helped him, and have given me pause, even as a religious person. (And I don't brook anyone telling me I'm not religious, anymore than I brook anyone insisting I'm stupid.) Beck has done incalculable damage (much more so than the father, who everyone knows Cruz is basically stuck with).

Neverguveup is right - what drives many of us to vote for Trump in future is how much we don't want Hillary.

I'm not too swayed by doom and despair about how we're going to be ruined, etc., having just lived through 8 years of godawful Obamanation. Just about anything has to be an improvement over him. OR Hillary.

I would for sure like to see Cruz on Supreme Court someday, even more than I would have liked him as president.

28 I doubt this is true. If Ted Cruz were the kind of quitter that would quit now, he wouldn't have made it as far as he has.

If it is true, then I dunno, maybe Trump "got to" Cruz somehow. The idea is ludicrous, and I feel dumber just for having typed it... but before today, I would have thought the same about the idea that Trump would imply that Cruz's father was involved in the Kennedy assassination.

Seriously, the day after Obama won in 2012 was miserable. And then I read your post and it reminded me that we do have better things in our lives than politics. I'm not going to say that it made me instantly feel better but it was something I continued to think on and eventually that miserable sick feeling in my gut faded away.

Part of how I cope with the filth that is politics is your humour and wit. I'm trying not to oversell this, just to say that your voice is valued and that you need to take care of yourself. I'm sure there are others that feel the way I do.

103 Well, it appears to be over for anybody that might believe we could still salvage this country...because neither the Donald or Hillary! is going to do that...just push it farther down the rathole we've been swirling for decades...and now the spirals are tighter and faster...sic transit gloria mundo.

I see a lot of mainstream types are now jumping on the Trump bandwagon...Well not me.

Will Hillary! be an absolute f**king disaster for the country both in foreign and domestic affairs? Yep. Guaranteed. 100%.

Will Trump be an equally impressive disaster? Yep. Guaranteed. 100%.

So there's that.

And here we thought past campaigns were ugly. This is going to take ugly and mean to entirely new dimensions...and if Trump thinks he's going to get the same kind of good ol' boy, that's just Trump being Trump coverage that he's been on the receiving end from the MSM lately...well think again pard. They are going to bring everything they've got...light weapons, quad automatics, artillery...well, that is if they knew anything about weapons - which they don't. They will say and/or do anything to cover for Hillary! Anything...and everything. And don't you think that the Ds have been doing some serious opposition research on Trump? Yes, he'll hit back...but then come the statements (not insinuations) of racist and sexist statements and the press will blow forth like the horn of Gabriel...count on it.

And me? I'll be drinking to the late great Unites States of America...and what it was.

Cruz had his shot. He didn't win. But, he's young and will have another shot in 2020 or 2024.

He needs to learn from the experience. Frankly, he was a poor retail politician.

He needs to learn how to communicate better to the average American. Not just conservatives. He needs to build a system of political contacts and politicians who owe him.

If Nixon, could do it after totally being written off, Cruz can.

As for Trump, he'll be fine. If you think he is exactly the same as Hillary!, you just aren't paying attention.

Will he be perfect? No.

But, Cruz wouldn't either.

328 A Republic lasts as long as men are willing to use force to protect it's laws.

Ours didn't die today. It died when liberal politicians subverted the laws, and supposedly "rightwing" lawmen didn't split their heads and put them in jail.

It died when a fat and happy middle class stuck their heads in the dirt and didnt make the hard moral choices that would have cost some of them their nice guvmint burrocrat check, or the hard moral choices that wouldn't allow them to be do-gooders on the taxpayers' dime.

It died when parents allowed their schools to become cesspools of dumbed down leftist propaganda, and didnt care to make the effort necessary to stop that. Ditto for the burrocracy and academia and the media.

Bill Ayers flat out told the country he would murder 25 million Americans, and not a single one of his potential victims or their children dealt with him personally.

You want to recover the rule of law? Fight a delaying action. Vote Trump...his potential corruption and further degradation of law is NOTHING like the hell that committed corruptocrat and socialist Clinton is going to unleash.

Buy yourselves some time to read some history and decide if you are going to make the hard moral choices necessary to restore rule of law. And yes, I mean you. It has become obvious that no one else is going to make those sacrifices for you.

Your choice.

382 Full disclosure up front: I voted for Cruz in the primary and am saddened to see him drop out but I also realize that the country is too dumbed down to appreciate what he represented and stood for. I've said before that a critical mass of this country's citizenry is nothing more than a bunch of trained circus animals, jumping through whatever hoops their media ringmasters present to them. And the ringmasters have convinced these drones that Ted Cruz is unlikable and mean and they repeat that mantra like brain dead zombies. (By the way, that critical mass of people is the true threat that this country faces).

I think that Cruz, hands down, is intellectually and temperamentally more suited to be president than Donald Trump, but the reality is that Trump is far more likely to win in November than Cruz due to the above mentioned factor.

I think now is the time to circle the wagons, close ranks and focus on making sure that the Democrat Party does not cement Obama's legacy into place. And that means voting for the Republican candidate - at this point presumably Trump - even if it means crawling over a field of broken glass.

Freedom is calling and we need to answer its call.

And then they pulled up the clown car and in climbed Huckabee & Santorum. Lindsey Graham thought with so many men in a tight space, they could maybe get a circle jerk going, so he hopped in too.

I don't want a Potemkin primary like the Democrats, but we need some tighter restrictions on becoming a primary candidate. Like Paul Anka would say, "this was loose shit...very loose shit."

Oh sure, he is now. But last year, it was all Bush, then All Rubio, all the time. 488 I'm sorry to see Ted go. I pulled the lever for him in New York, but this is not his time.

Going forward, I will vote for the person who has the best chance of keeping Hillary out of the White House. With the backing of the Democrat machine in Congress, whether they have majorities or not, she will do incalculable damage. The current GOP leadership can't stand up to Obama; they will roll over just as easily for Hillary.

I think that Trump, with no natural allies in Congress, will be less of a threat. He's got less of a downside and (who knows, I've been wrong about people before) maybe even an upside.

500 Remember that scene in the first Avengers flick where Loki's magic staff was subtly turning the team against each other without their realizing it?

Clinton will win by virtue of massive vote fraud and for virtually no other reason; the turnout won't actually be there but it won't be needed.

Trump's (or whoever's) loss to Clinton will be believably spun in ALL media as the result of "the Trump/Cruz split that never mended," even if it did mend by election time and everyone who'd pulled for Cruz (like myself) votes for Trump (which I will do).

At that point, the rift will have been forced so wide apart that it'll be impossible to mend. Just like the lie that stay-home fundamentalists handed Obama the W.H. The rift lie will be kept going in perpetuity and fingers will never stop being pointed on our side.

It really doesn't do any good to say this but we've been thoroughly engineered this whole time. It's why leftist operatives have spent MONTHS of concerted effort mobying and trolling conservative boards, slowly eroding whatever cohesion remained, just like the mindgame Loki ran on the Avengers that nearly destroyed them. Except this one probably won't fail.

Sorry for the lame comix analogy but for me, it fits.

There will be no unity, all you trump voters are pissing in the wind if
you think that it's going to be all kumbaya after this. The anger and
division is real and the GOP is split, so unless a lot of dems crossover
Trump loses, and if they do crossover, what have you actually won?

Posted by: spypeach at May 03, 2016 08:47 PM (nyYhO)</i>It's a shame, too.
We had the base getting united and vocal. For years I've been hanging up on the GOP when they call for money. I've complained about taking one for the team to work with Ole Barry so we don't 'look bad', (I mean, WTF are principles, anyway?), bitched about how illegal immigration is bad for us as a country and party, ("but we really need to fight liberals in Washington so we need your help"), begged them to stop banging the religion gong because FFS there are a lot of fucking pressing issues greater, and please stop looking the other way when Boehner or whoever else strayed drunkenly into liberal land and set up a tent...
I mean, Barry fucked a lot of shit up, and some moderate GOPs and even conservative liberals decided they didn't like it. The party was hungry to get the big house back after 8 years, and what happens? We fucking get Trump.I went from curious to "oh my fucking God, I can't fucking believe this shit" pretty fast. He fractured the party. 'Lyin Ted Cruz?' Not perfect but he fought amnesty, when most people wouldn't, which is a big fucking feather in his cap because it's a huge danger. He didn't TALK about building walls and making another sovereign nation pay, no he actually DID SHIT before he was trolling for the nod. Kasich is just a fool and a tool and I wonder who is donating to keep him in, but Cruz has to drop out... but I digress.I mean, since when did it become okay to mock another candidate's spouse like that, when she's done nothing? It's not as if Heidi Cruz is like Hildebeast when Bill was president and tried to foist Hillarycare on us. You can be angry or frustrated and do it with decorum, class, intelligence. But lashing out like Trump does channels the frustration we all have, so the Trumpites cheer it on, because it becomes an expression of how emasculated we have felt. It speaks to what matters to Trump - not decency, not principles, but winning for winning's sake. You wouldn't need to stoop to such base tactics if the rest of your house was sound. It didn't matter the target, everyone and everything was fair game.
Except it does matter how he conducted himself, because it's not just the party nomination that matters, it's the election in November and every American has been watching. And so many bridges have been rudely, crudely, mockingly and angrily burned, and so much buffoonery has been on view that it's hard to undo. So Trump pulled out all the stops bashing everyone he thought stood in his way, complained before it was an issue he was going to be thwarted, made enemies in his 'own party' by being cruel and acting like and ass, but we all have to lump it and pull the lever like good little minions when he has sewn distrust and wounds have been left to fester? Who would WANT to be his fucking Veep, except someone who craves the office for attention and the permission to bully? That's the antithesis of what a statesman really is.
So all this for an ego. All the shit of Barry channeled into a burgeoning semblance of unity only to have it shattered by a boy playing as a statesman against a person (Hillary), who has proven she has nothing but contempt for our country and its principles. So it's a court jester or Beezlebub as President. And four fucking years ago, I didn't imagine it could get much worse. It shows me that despite being a writer, there's a limit to my creativity.

546 529 I love the people, including Ace, who said immigration was the hill to die on. Well, we just died on it. Congrats. Feel better now?
------

I can't speak for Ace, but my position has always been that the establishment can't completely tell the base to fuck off on immigration they way they've been doing for years. The establishment has come up short on a lot of things, but at least we get the occasional Alito or partial-birth-abortion ban. That's better than nothing, and what we get from the establishment on immigration is worse than nothing.

The base wasn't going to take this mistreatment forever. Someone should have listened. No one did until it was too late.

Ehh, not so sure about that. The most dangerous thing for today's Democrat's future prospects of power is to be in power--because they cannot restrain themselves.

This time, I think they go full retard, and people finally stop cashing the checks the Left writes, the Right having been removed as a foil.

That many people are willing to extend the olive branch in order to stop Hillary (a true psychopath if ever there was one), should be something that gives people a notion of options...certainly better than letting a murderous, corrupt, and possibly physically/mentally sick woman take the presidency.

And now, if the GOP and with the blessings of Cruz supporters attempt something in Cleveland you really will have set yourselves on top of a powderkeg.

I however disagree that its the fault of left-wing trolls; Trump has said and done the things he's done, and his supporters cheered him on when he went aftyer conservatives, utterly destroying the anti-GOPe coalition in the process. There's just no overcoming that in time to save the Supreme Court, even if Trump could be trusted with it (I'm still waiting for that list of conservative judicial candidates, with something less than bated breath).

In the face of, dear God, CLINTON becoming president? No, that does not explain it all.

I clearly recall being here but more at HA back in '08 and in '12. Things got fairly crusty and shouty re: Palin and then Romney but NOTHING to the degree of what's been ginned up this year. A lot of this has not been internally organic from among Republicans disagreeing in good conscience, or even arguing out of fear and desperation (though we have that in spades). It's been different this time. Much of it has been pushbutton outrage made to order and it's worked precisely because the stakes are so much higher this time. This year is a definite fork in the road with likely no turning back. Most everyone who pays attention on all sides senses this.

The ones behind Clinton have not yet shown just how much they can steal in elections, but they will when it counts. Conspiratorial BS? We'll see soon enough.

628 270, Thank you for your kind words. I worked hard to get Ted elected as Senator and have met and talked with him numerous times. He is a good man. I was surprised when he decided to run because he is young enough to wait until 2024. I voted for him in the Texas primary out of loyalty but I always felt that Trump would end up being the nominee.

Ironically, I've also met Trump many years ago (during the Marla Maples years, lol). He is a rough around the edges brash NY salesman type but he does know how to surround himself with competent people.

I will definitely vote for WHOEVER is the GOP nominee and as an election judge I always tell the people in my precinct that when you stay home upset and decide not to vote it is like giving a vote to the opposition.

Many people tried that approach the last two election cycles and look where we are now. I have two children under 12 and I'm scared sh!tless about the Supreme Court in the next few years.

PEOPLE please give any Repub the chance. We've tried almost eight years of Dems and it has not gone well. Without a Dem president to veto bills we can unleash our Rep controlled Congress to get things done. If they get all that power and still screw us then we can vote them out.

630 Real talk.

You may not like Trump, but you need him. Maybe even more than the people who voted for him do.

If Hillary gets elected and 30 million illegals become legal citizens, your Constitutional conservative small government shtick will be over for good. Because the illegals come from political traditions that favor socialism and YUUUUGE government, with lots of transfer payments (from you to them).

Trump may not share your ideology, but his policies and the demographic shifts that they cause will have the inadvertent effect of keeping your ideology viable for a while longer.

If you guys had stepped in to stop immigration a lot earlier, your brand of Constitutional autism would play a lot better, like it does in Utah. But you blew it, and now other issues have come to the fore, specifically building a broad coalition of normal people to stop the imminent destruction of the country through mass immigration.

(And don't tell me that you'll change the political views of the immigrants through "assimilation". The left controls the culture and the education system, they will assimilate the immigrants, not you.)

I don't think the #neverTrump constitutional autists matter from an electoral standpoint, but I do enjoy pointing out the irony.

You want Hillary to win, but doing so would doom your own ideology due to demographic change.

On the other hand, a Hillary victory will only make identity politics more relevant.

Think about it in terms of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. When people are worried about survival, their interest in Constitutional autism recedes. When people are living in safe, clean, not so diverse Utah and Kansas, they have the luxury to focus on Constitutuional autism.

Hillary and 40 million illegals will put the whole country in survival mode.

I would have been a hardcore Walker or Jindal supporter but neither were able to make it past the first round. I supported Cruz even though I never got terribly excited about him, because I believe in this quaint, outdated notion that ideas actually fucking matter and are more important than being an obnoxious, loudmouthed buffoon who knows the best ways to insult women, disabled people, and POW's.

With that being said, trump-cultists decided anybody who opposed the progressive orange shitpile they worship must be destroyed. I saw them smear hardcore conservative warriors who have devoted their life to the cause, people like Thomas Sowell, Richard Vigeurie, Dennis Prager, Michelle Malikin, Mark Levin, and many others, in the name of "let it burn".

So I've decided to oblige them. They will get all the burning they can stomach. Since we all will be doomed to suffer for their stupidity and cultism, I will devote my energy to making sure they endure their proportionate share if misery, because fuck them in the ass with the barbed cock of Satan.

Posted by: Gobbagoo at May 04, 2016 04:38 AM (H7eLj)

754 Unfortunately, very unfortunately, Cruz is out. There is no Republican option. I will support the only non-crazy, non-criminal candidate left.

756 I love threads like this. You all sound like liberals the day Bush won. Do you need therapy? a safe space? maybe a pillow to hug? Is there REALLY a difference between leftists and many of the posters here? Because from what I read it sure doesn't sound like it.

To borrow an old phrase: Man up Nancy. If all you're gonna do is whine, and cry, and wail, then you need to retreat to your safe space and stay there.

The adults will stay outside and deal with the situation as best they can and do what it seems many here could not: go out into the real world, get involved, and make sure our views are represented as best we can at all levels of government. We sure in hell aren't going to pin our self worth on a politician of any type.

757 Instead of listening to the lies about Trump's victory speech, you can watch it all unedited yourself.

759 A lot of crybaby posters on this blog. Get over it. He exposed Cruz as a fake, phony and fraud. Trump won and he will crush Shrillary in the General Election.

Delusional at best. Just my opinion..others may feel differently.

761 Dem turnout is down approx 20%+ and Republican turnout is up from 20% to 60%, depending on the state. .

I wonder how much of that was dems voting for Trump in states with open primaries so the dem candidate can run against the clownish Trump?

The orange piece of filth you worship is the biggest fake, phony, and fraud in the history of America politics. I'm going to mock the living fuck out of you when your orange clown-messiah gets crushed in a 40 -state landslide and then I'm going to sit back and laugh at your spasms of unhinged impotent rage.

696 With all of Senators Cruz's good qualities, why did he lose. He didn't just lose but he lost badly. Why?

Posted by: Tim in Illinois

I think he lost because the general population of voters are gullible fools. Over 50% voted for Obama..twice.
There is no ideological barrier that keeps republican leaning people from falling for the same shtick. If anyone wonders how the Obamatrons could be so very gullible when the con was so obvious...wonder no more Trumpatrons...just look in the mirror.

That doesn't even make sense. What do you mean, where will they "go"? Where would you "go" after "He" loses?

Posted by: Mimzey at May 04, 2016 09:20 AM (aRUb8)

765 Ok ok ok.. I voted for Cruz here in Illinois and I've loved how Cruz stupid up for our constitutional rights in the Senate.. Having said that, "my guy" didn't win. I'll dry my tears and hope the bitterness of defeat fades fast... Sometimes for a strong willed, opinionated conservative like myself, I have to will myself to snap out of it. You see, I tend to carry grudges.. Especially when I know "my guy" is eminently more qualified, oratorical gifted and honorable than the victor... In this primary, the victor is Donald Trump. Hey, the first step to winning in the fall is getting over this defeat. What this is really about (for me..it may be different for you) is trying to hold on our fight back against the past 8 years of having proggressives drag America thru the mud. I can't be a part of the solution if I'm stuck in the past, unengaged and unwilling to fight because I have sore feelings that other Republicans & conservatives didn't recognize the brilliance of "my guy". WTF... Maybe in a few weeks I'll be ready to get some frigging orange War Paint, make some lemonade out of these lemons and be ready to kick some prog ass in November... But for right now, just gotta breathe... My earnest hope is that others who feel as bitter as I do right now can find the guts to do the same thing and join me and the rest of the unknown quantity of Republicans as a whole, because if not, we will surely hang separately..

767 Can't recall Hillary ever treating anyone the way Trump treated Cruz's dad or wife. Even when the millionth person bashed her because Bill slept around, Hillary hasn't stooped that much in her decency.

Hillary and Trump have a lot of similar political views, and both are corrupt criminals who would ignore the law and engage in cover ups.

But Hillary appears to have better values and more experience.

Why would any conservative vote for Trump over Hillary? I won't.

Oh, so you hold an anonymous nobody commenting on a blog to a higher standard of decency than you do the presumptive Republican Presidential nominee and his paid shills?

769 Jukin:

"Again, I'm not a stupid person."

Yes you are.

"I've done more than most. If you are above the 98th percentile in IQ. Then more power to you."

My IQ is high enough to finish sentences. Is this the affinity you find while humping Trump?

'Have you read "The Art of the Deal"? My guess is no. You should. I read it in 1999. Made lots of basic sense and made me like the man. But hey keep up with the irrational hate on his supporters. "'

Trump didn't write it, he's not even capable of finishing a sentence. Hell, he's probably never even READ a book. My hatred for you and the TrumpHumpers is that you've saddled us with another NY Liberal baby-killing Democrat. Or Hillary. It's not irrational, you dumb fuck.
