1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Wednesday, April 13, 2016. On this day in 1919 Eugene V. Debs was imprisoned at the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary in Atlanta, Georgia, for speaking out against the draft during World War I. He was arrested and convicted under the Sedition Act of 1918 which was blatantly unconstitutional and was rammed through by Wilson. Although this was a travesty, Debbs got what he deserved because he was a rabid communist rabble rouser. His sentence was commuted by Harding in 1921. Republicans were bitterly opposed to the Sedition Act of 1918.

3 There have been many calls for Obama to unseal 28 pages of classified documents that some think show Saudi involvement at the highest levels in the 9-11 terrorist plot. And Obama has said he will "decide" on where he will comply within 60 days. But remember, he runs on CPT.

Over the past several months the Military Religious Freedom Foundation has waged a campaign to have Bibles removed from "Missing Man" displays located on federal property. They claim the inclusion of the Bible is a violation of federal law.

6 The husband of one of the victims of the victims at the Kansas shootings has sued the gun stores that reportedly sold the guns to a strawman buyer. No word in this article which simply says he has filed the suit as to whether a judge will allow it to proceed since while Republicans had congress they passed a law which outlawed these kinds of retaliation suits against businesses who comply with the laws. These suits are the brainchild of rabid anti-constitution gun grabbers who still file them as part of their lawfare against guns. They should be counter-sued into bankruptcy.

Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes. I suppose I should say thanks for the news, Vic, but there's nothing to be thankful for, really.

Anyway - yesterday I happened to speak with someone who has tickets to the new musical Cagney, which reminded me vaguely of an old George M. Cohan story:

It seems that the playwright Robert Sherwood (Waterloo Bridge, The Petrified Forest, Abe Lincoln in Illinois) wanted Cohan to star in a new play. In order to get the great showman's services, though, Sherwood had to make a firm commitment with Cohan for ten weeks.

The play, however, was a complete flop and closed after one anemic week on the Main Stem. Cohan, however, took his check for the full ten weeks without a word. Years later, however, Sherwood, out of a clear blue sky, opened his mail to find a check from Cohan, covering the nine weeks he hadn't played. Attached to the check was a note: "Dear Bob: I couldn't go out with this on my mind".

The next day, November 5, 1942, George M. Cohan died.

When you say and "effective" tax rate of 33$ does that mean your net taxes is 33% of your gross income or net profit? If so that is extremely above normal and something is being done wrong on your taxes.

55 The $15 minimum wage increase in California is going to go bust according to one Economic Lawyer. It appears that the McDonalds burger flipper will never actually see any of that increase as most of it will go to the Fed and State in increased taxes and get this., it will wipe out their Earned Income Tax Credit too. Additionally it will put them above the poverty level and cut off their food stamps.

The bottom line is that every minimum wage person this affects will most likely be in worse shape than when this whole mess started. And the above does not include any job cuts or reductions by employers.

I am beginning to think this whole thing may be one big scam by Democrats to increase State and Federal tax revenue.

In the past the biggest problem with the calls to get "big money out of politics" is that the ones doing the calling only want to get their opponents' money out.

The only way we will get big money out of politics is to reform the whole buisness as follows:
Ban all radio and TV political ads including "news" that is blatant political pushing.
Restrict contributions to candidates to only those businesses and firms within the political boundaries that office is being campaigned for. IOW if one is running for a congressional district the only ones illegible to contribute are those who have a permanent residence in that zone.

The problem is the Republican Party is a private club that can do whatever the hell it wants. It may have dire consequences but that's the way it is.

What is completely egregious is if the candidates are playing by rules that were set months ago and then midway or more than midway in they decide to change it, then that is problematic and potentially a litigious circumstance.

No word in this article which simply says he has filed the suit as to whether a judge will allow it to proceed since while Republicans had congress they passed a law which outlawed these kinds of retaliation suits against businesses who comply with the laws. 160 Note that Ryan said the nominee should be someone who has run for the job (participate in the primaries), not from the 3 currently running. This opens the door again for Jeb!, Rubio, Walker, Jindall, etc.

So the plan could be support Cruz to deny Trump the 1237 needed. 1st vote at convention Trump falls short and delegates are released to vote their "conscience". Trump and Cruz are dumped and the establishment nominates Jeb! Jeb wins and picks Rubio for his VP and the establishment gets Jeb!/Rubio which was their original plan before Trump upset their apple cart.

You're a mensch, J.J., but if you truly think Cruz will actually do that, I have a bridge to sell you.As far as I can see - and if I'm wrong, then put me some knowledge - there are only two ways Cruz can "abolish" the IRS. One is to get the GOPe to introduce that legislation, which will be dead on arrival. The other is to be Obama on steroids and EO the fuckers out of existence. And I don't see Cruz doing that, as a good case could be made that such an act is contrary to the constitutional prerogatives of a president.IOW, Cruz is blowing smoke, and that - along with his utterly disingenuous vow to prosecute Scankles - really pisses me off.

It's still bullshit. I also don't like the whole "you should do whatever the cop says so you don't get beaten/pepper sprayed/tazed/shot, whether he has any lawful authority or not" position. There is a measure of practicality to it, granted, but it's the mindset of a cowed, scared populace living in an authoritarian state, not one of free men.

177 From what I heard yesterday on the Ryan news reports, the convention sets it's own rules. It has it's own rules committee composed entirely of campaign representatives.

I think that means Trump, Cruz, Kasich and Rubio (the people with actual delegates) decide whose name can be placed in nomination. Ryan was just acknowledging reality: he can't be nominated if the convention rules are so structured.

BS. She ran a stop sign. It is on the tape but edited out in most of the postings but you can find it. When he tried to tell her why he pulled her over, she is the one who said it was bc she did not signal and he said no. She was acting so erratic and bizarre, he suspected she had drugs either possessed or was under the influence of drugs. He asked her to put out her cigarrette so she would not use it to burn him and to get out of the car.

Bland was the sole cause of her arrest and death. I hope the cop is acquitted bc charging him was bullshit.

I've been wondering about that. The numbers seem remarkably high. I had a friend who was killed in a car accident only moths after graduating from USC, though far as I know, he didn't have any loans. So I can understand somebody who was doing everything right but suffered a devastating injury or was diagnosed with some crippling disease not being able to ever earn at remotely the level they expected when those loans were taken out.

But nearly 400,000 people in those circumstances? How far back does this go? Are they including people who still had student loan debt from the 80s? It seems odd that that dispensation for those classified as totally disabled is only happening just now. It isn't like injury or disease is a new development in the human experience. Shouldn't there have been provisions for this going back decades? Or is the real story that the details to fulfill that 'totally disabled' status has been greatly expanded to include far more debtors than before?

We cannot fix failed states by inviting millions of their people to move in with us. All that ensures is more failed states, more failure, and eventually 'one by one' the nations of the west will join them. And then you'll really be yearning to breathe free and there will be nowhere to do it.

Um, no. Watch the video again. The cop himself says he pulled her over because she failed to signal for a lane change. You're entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts. This "erratic and bizarre" behavior thing is made up bullshit. He was pushing her about being "irritated" and she said she was because he pulled her over. Are you that in love with petty fascist assholes that you feel the need to make shit up to rehabilitate them?
