Overnight Open Thread (3-23-2016) – Where Women Glow And Men Plunder Edition

Quote of the Day I

Then again, it's hard for the security and intel agencies to get the resources they need when the commander-in-chief spends barely a minute addressing the Brussels attack, and adjourns to a baseball game with Raul Castro.

Quote of the Day II

A retired police officer told me that the "gun on campus" has become the new "bomb threat." Bomb threats became so ubiquitous in the 70's that severe penalties were put in place, and enforced, for people calling in fraudulent bomb threats. The cost of institutions being forced to shut down for hours at a time is enormous.

But "Gun!" threats are politically correct. Questioning the validity of such threats is verboten; especially on university campuses.

Quote of the Day III

Thus, Hollywood can only keep reliably making money off of Harrison Ford by cloning him. Sure, it will open up all sorts of philosophical and ethical quandaries about the nature of identity and man's relationship to science, but since when has Hollywood cared about any of that?

...So, Hollywood, you've got your answer: Create Harrison Ford clones, at whatever age you need him to be, and we can have Han Solo, Indiana Jones, and all of his other characters forever. Ford will never ride off into the sunset. The alternative of creativity and risk is simply too abhorrent to contemplate.

Quote of the Day IV

Pro tip: the best Star Wars prequel is still Triumph The Insult Comic Dog interviewing people standing in line for Attack of the Clones.

Quote of the Day V

Our sires' age was worse than our grandsires'. We, their sons, are more worthless than they; so in our turn we shall give the world a progeny yet more corrupt.

-- Horace, circa 20 BC

If Sweden and Germany Became US States, They Would be Among the Poorest States

These national-level comparisons take into account taxes, and include social benefits (e.g., "welfare" and state-subsidized health care) as income. Purchasing power is adjusted to take differences in the cost of living in different countries into account.

Since Sweden is held up as a sort of promised land by American socialists, let's compare it first. We find that, if it were to join the US as a state, Sweden would be poorer than all but 12 states, with a median income of $27,167.

Median residents in states like Colorado ($35,830), Massachusetts ($37,626), Virginia ($39,291), Washington ($36,343), and Utah ($36,036) have considerably higher incomes than Sweden.

With the exception of Luxembourg ($38,502), Norway ($35,528 ), and Switzerland ($35,083), all countries shown would fail to rank as high-income states were they to become part of the United States. In fact, most would fare worse than Mississippi, the poorest state.

And when you take into account the differences in costs of living among US states the European rankings get even worse.

Disney, Marvel Threaten Boycott If GA Governor Signs Religious Freedom Bill

Because tolerance.

Remembering  Col. Avery Kay, The Father of the A-10 Warthog

Using the very real threat of the Army's plan to build a helicopter to take over Air Force close support, Kay convinced McConnell that if the Army got its funding approved, he would go down in Air Force history as the chief that lost the close support mission and the money that goes along with it.

To counter the Army's proposal, Kay pitched a plan to build an airplane dedicated to the close support missions that would be cheaper and more effective than any helicopter.

McConnell approved the plan, but Kay quickly realized that he would have to circumvent the normal chain of command to fulfill his promise to the Army, as many of the Air Force's top generals still lacked interest in spending budget dollars on this cause.

Rather than approaching the Air Staff and Tactical command offices, which normally facilitate the building of new planes, Kay reached out to Sprey, who was working for the defense secretary, to help make his plan for the A-10 become a reality.

"What he did at this point is he put his career on the line," Sprey recalled.

Together, Kay and Sprey worked in secret to develop an aircraft that could cover ground troops from an enemy advance, buying time for grunts to regroup or get out with an aerial weapons strike.

"The entire A-10 community is basically due to his guts and his integrity," said Sprey, now an adviser for the Project on Government Oversight. "If anyone deserves the title of 'father of the A-10,' Col. Kay definitely does."

Olivia Newton-John's Dead Boyfriend Found Alive and Well in Mexico Ten Years Later

Newton-John reported that McDermott was missing a week after the "incident" when he failed to show up for a family gathering. She had been out of the country at the time of the disappearance and unknowingly gave McDermott just enough of a head start to make a clean getaway.

Of the 22 passengers on the fishing boat, not a single one saw McDermott go overboard. Shortly before his disappearance, McDermott filed for bankruptcy with debts of $30,000. (So, look for a lot of college students to try the old "fell from a boat" move soon.)

McDermott also secured a second passport and withdrew his life savings from two different bank accounts before going missing. There's something very obviously fishy about this whole thing.

Well to be fair faking my own death and fleeing to Mexico is actually the default backup plan for most of my life challenges (and also the name of my imaginary 80s cover band) but it sure seems like a lot time, trouble, and expense for just a mere $30 grand.

13 You know the jokes about dumb blondes? Well, it's apparently ass backwards and the blondes will get the last laugh. Some study was released that had IQ data going back over the years, and it turns out that natural blondes have the highest average IQ.

The average about 103. Then comes brown hair, then red, with brunette being the lowest, right at the overall population average of 100.

So blondes are about 3 points higher than average, on average.

15 So the Air Force, only developed the A-10 to keep the Army from ruining their budget for CAS...... but the AF never really wanted it... and has held their nose all these years. Yeah, I don't hold much respect for the AF leadership. Petty.

I'm sure they were behind the push to legislate that the Army couldn't have combat fixed-wing aircraft... probably all connected. Army and Marines should have had the A-10 all along..... though... evidently it only came about because the guy who designed it wanted to save CAS as a role for the AF, so it probably wouldn't have ever existed if not for that.

16 OMG. HBO is airing a documentary by a journalist by Ware about the Iraq war. He was embedded with the US Marines

and then with Zarqawi

Ware soon became a trusted emissary for Abu Musab Zarqawi, the infamous late leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq who turns into a Kurtzian obsession for the reporter. Zarqawi would stage and then film beheadings and suicide attacks on Westerners, and when he wanted the world to see his handiwork, he would often deliver footage to Ware. The journalist, for instance, was given a DVD of the 2004 beheading of the American radio-tower operator Nicholas Berg, a snippet of which is shown here in a brief but highly discomfiting moment.

CNN came under fire, particularly by the right, for furthering extremist aims in showing footage of this sort, including U.S. soldiers' deaths at the hands of Iraqi snipers in 2006 filmed by Ware.

In the interview this week, the journalist waved aside the idea that this kind of material shouldn't be shown. We have to know how all sides are operating, he said. It's that simple."

A number of such scenes appear in this film, with Only the Dead frequently showing militants as they plan attacks and lay out their motivations while Ware is embedded in their ranks, and it remains to be seen what reaction the movie's stark candor will elicit when it eventually airs on HBO.

The article says nothing like this. Its all about how in 2008 it was alleged that he was living in Mexico. And there's really nothing in the article that's really confirming it, except one source of a guy who seems to be trying to make money off it by saying he's seen him and talked to his lawyer saying that the guy is fine and wants to be left alone. But that's not the lawyer saying it, its the guy claiming that the lawyer told him.

33 In the film's conclusion, a scene shows just how much of a quagmire the war was when an Iraqi militant is shot and then allowed by soldiers to bleed to death over more than 15 minutes. Ware stands by filming the scene and declines to say anything or urge help, a decision he later harshly questioned.

We all have a dark side inside of us, he said in the interview. You have a heart of darkness, everyone has one. I've seen mine, I can guarantee that I can show you yours, he said. There is light and dark in all of us. He added, This is a film that's about a war in Iraq. But it's also about something much larger.

Every dog needs a pet.

Sam had Mukluk. Sam was mostly deaf and blind in his old age. Muk would push him into the sunny spots, tell him when to bark and when to head for the kitchen, and defended him against the loose dogs in the neighborhood. Would also curl up with him at night to be sure he stayed warm and didn't get lonely.

Every dog needs a pet.

Posted by: Misanthropic Humanitarian at March 23, 2016 10:18 PM (voOPb)

I knew someone who kicked her adult son out. He was out of school, working full time, and living in his widowed mother's really nice upper middle class house. His late father had been a builder, so nice house, no money issues for mom.

This guy was your typical entitled 23 year old. He came and went as he pleased and spent most of his income screwing around. So he came home late on a weeknight and complained that the meal his mother had prepared for him earlier was cold.

The next day when he came home the locks had been changed and all his stuff was in boxes in the garage. He got the message and the two of them got along very well after that.

132 Okay, I had to look it up. Brunette should technically be brown hair. It means literally "brown haired girl". Black hair is something different, although now brunette means any brownish to black. The anthropologists have a a pretty rigorous scale of human hair color. Red is something of an oddity, and gets its own scale.

Black is the most common hair color for the global population, but brown is the most common for Western populations. Natural blondes and redheads are pretty small global wise, but higher for the Western population.

Natural blondes are the smartest, followed by the brown haired, followed by redheads, followed by black hair. Black, being the largest, hits the global average of 100.

How did we get the dumb blonder stereotype? Probably from the type of women likely to dye their hair deep blonde and act slutty and ditzy

I remember well when RR fired the PATCO controllers.

I was a young military controller at the time. Mil facilities were sending troops to FAA towers and TRACONs to replace the fired ones. Any military controller who got rated in an FAA fac and could get out of the service was hired on the spot.

I had a rare specialty at the time and was deemed too valuable to let deploy.

The net difference in career salary potential is tough to think about sometimes...

What a few brave souls predicted at the time was that the political climate would eventually shift back to the left, that the replacement ATCs would eventually vote to re-unionize, and that they would then be just as bad as the original union that Reagan got rid of.

Guess what? That's exactly what happened.

I was down by the airport a few months ago and saw a bumper sticker on the back of a car reading "NATCA For Obama", that organization being the new successor to the original PATCO union.

Simple. Guys of all races/ethnicities generally prefer blondes. The bruthas go for blondes, and the Muslims prefer to rape blondes, so the Muslims in Sweden are in sand n-word heaven.

Women who bleach their hair blonde do so because they figure that their most valuable asset is the one they sit on, not the one they put hats on. They have just enough intelligence to realize they're not going to make it in life based on their intellect (laughing here), so they'd better make themselves attractive to marks those who do productive work, so they can sell their most valuable asset for a better price (either in cash or in kind), and thereby in effect trade ass for subsistence.

Anyway, you know how the gheys are the fashion queens. I remember reading them just tearing Mooch's dresses apart. It was hilarious. I just imagining them talking that in an over the top gay lisp while prissing around and it just cracked me up.

Anyway, one dress she wore matched the pattern of one of their crazy aunt's cat piss couch, an old couch in her basement that smelled of cat piss and they just had a grand ol gay time with that.

I'd love to read what they'd be saying about Mooch in Argentina.

327 "Why hasn't the Air Force or any other branch come up with a 'do it all' fighter-attack aircraft."

Armor up a jet for ground attack, to where it can survive being low and slow in the trashfire envelope, and suddenly it's too heavy to climb, turn and burn in a fight at higher altitudes.

(All engineering schools should have the somber word "TRADEOFFS" engraved over the main door, as a reminder.)

The F-35 is being sold as a fighter and as an attack plane. It's not especially well suited to either role. Too slow and clumsy for air to air. Too fragile and expensive to get down on air to ground.

They're proposing to keep it well up out of the air to ground nastiness with new precision attack munitions like the Small Diameter Bomb. That said, a cheap drone can drop an SDB just as well. And a fuel-efficient drone can stay on station for a virtually infinite time compared to the thirsty F-35 having to regularly break off to go find a tanker.

348 >> Why hasn't the Air Force or any other branch come up with
>> a 'do it all' fighter-attack aircraft.

They've tried, many many times.

You end up with a $35M folding spork that doubles as a bayonet. See 'F-111'.

The US experience in Vietnam was notably salubrious, they threw every Cold War era fast-mover they had at the SEA karst and the some of the most useful hardware proved to be an Island of Misfit Toys collection of antiques and oddballs - the Skyraider, the B-26, the B-57, the F-10 Skyknight, the A-37, eventually the A-7.

The USAF darkened the skies with F-100s and F-105s and F-4s and found them all vulnerable to ground fire and incapable of hanging around a firefight.

The A-10 came to be because in the end the one indispensable CAS aircraft of the South East Asian Unpleasantness was a late '40s torpedo bomber (the Skyraider), and the primary lessons learned from it and the other misfits was:

a) If you make a plane fast, the pilot won't hang around, the fuel burn won't let him even if he wanted to, and CAS is all about hanging around

b) If you're going to hang around you need a whole damn wing full of stuff to drop and shoot when the FAC calls you up

c) Hanging around means you're gonna be shot at, and (salubrious Skyraider lesson) you don't want to be shot at too much in a single-engine aircraft

Then the USAF added

d) CAS in Europe means there's eleventy-billion T-62s coming down the gap, and we need something to kill them 'cause 93 German Leopards ain't gonna cut it

Ergo the A-X competitors - the A-9 and eventual winner A-10 - came out big, slow, twin-engined, and with more places to hang sensors and bang than you can count. And they ended up wrapped around the big GAU-8 can-opener.

Now, here's your Common Core quiz: How many of the above criteria does the F-35 meet?

So unimpressed with what they ended up doing with the script. Obviously it was a lower budget flick, so no locations, small cast, think piece to a certain extent. And there was a lot to like, the CGI was immaculate, Oscar Isaac was fantastic, there was a good feel to the film.

I won't spoil it, but the fact that Isaac's character would end up doing what the film had him end up doing is... fucking stupid. Smartest, richest guy in the world, remember?

There's nothing there. Oscar Isaac gave 50% of a performance and it felt like 110% because the character made no sense. He did something with nothing. There's no arc to the story. There are no characters. We're supposed to care about the bot but she ends up being a murderer and they basically worked back from that twist and made the movie all fucked up to justify it.

Something similar to that will almost certainly happen, and could have an outsize influence on the "social media generation" and their relation to larger culture wars, even bigger than GamerGate (which is still the subject of a propaganda campaign to be envied).

It would essentially hit a community that leans soft left and has previously largely ignored that kind of thing's effect on others (and tends to ignore the world at large).

I've explained that to my boys. Yeah, you can borrow money; but then you're beholden to the lender. Liberals and other retards then suggest burning the lender. But they're too stupid to realize that you'll still need to borrow money, and now you've signaled to all and sundry that you're a shitty credit risk, and that they should demand a whacking great interest premium - or not lend to you at all.

Bottom line: he who has the gold makes the rules. When you have money, you have options. When you have debt, you have problems. And masters.

401 I've never been in a Whole Foods. But I'd doubt it. None of the grocery stores around here carry Prime. It's just too damn expensive. The best they carry is Choice. And most of them keep that behind the counter. The shit Bi-Lo here puts out in the open displays is absolute shit, not even graded.

Now Publix puts some Choice out in the display.

The expensive restaurants get Prime, and again there's some places that supposedly carry it, but you literally have to be on a list.

The online places (the good ones) will ship it to you, but it costs a fortune.

IIIRC, only 2% of the beef produced makes the Prime grade.

Something similar to that will almost certainly happen, and could have an outsize influence on the "social media generation" and their relation to larger culture wars, even bigger than GamerGate (which is still the subject of a propaganda campaign to be envied).

It would essentially hit a community that leans soft left and has previously largely ignored that kind of thing's effect on others (and tends to ignore the world at large).Posted by: Merovign, Dark Lord of the Sith at March 24, 2016 12:00 AM (bLnSU)

423 I actually tried some Wal-Mart steaks once. It was the toughest piece of shit steak I'd ever tried to eat. I actually though I was going to need the grinder/cut-off wheel to cut it.

After that, well I became an example of a hard-times economic phenomenon. The high end can do well, even better, but the middle end and even the low end gets killed. You can't afford the middle end, so you hold off and save up and splurge for the high end once in a blue moon.

I was reading about how that happened during the Depression. The best of the best did well. That included entertainment.

And so, last Christmas I spent over $200 on some Prime Ribeyes. WHich I just couldn't believe. But damn, if eating was sex, I was having a three-way or more-way with Kate Upton and some of her hot besties.

The stuff cut like butter, big thick MFers. And just melted in the mouth. I think I jizzed my pants on the first bite.

It's a matter of taste, in part, and culture, to be sure.

Example?

My angel simply loves her some Bach (which I find static and weak at times) and inflicts vietnamese music on me - traditional, modern, and folk - whenever she's driving.

By contrast, I'm a Mahler and R. Strauss kinda guy (which music she finds 'unsettling' and uncomfortable; 'they create a problem but never resolve it, they just keep probing the wound,' she says), who strays into bluegrass, scorch-folk, and various other musical heresies. Of these, bluegrass is the one she simply cannot abide, though, to me, it sounds rather like what the Choir Invisible ought to be singing as they welcome me home.

446 Hey, I just got my email from Tesla about how to reserve a Model 3. That's supposed to be their mass-market (in the same sense a BMW 3-series is mass-market, which around here is definitely true) product. And since I have no other useful comment to make, I'll just quote the email:

---

Reservations for Model 3 begin on March 31st worldwide. There are two ways to make a reservation. The first, which will allow you to get a better spot in the queue, is to visit your local Tesla store when it opens on March 31st. Second is to make a reservation online at Tesla.com when the live unveil starts at 8:30pm PDT.

In order to be as fair as possible, there will be a different queue for reservations in each region. And as a thank you to our current owners, existing customers will get priority in each region (one priority reservation for each Tesla they own). For those who aren't Tesla owners yet, this means the fastest way to buy a Model 3 is to buy a Model S or Model X.

Model 3 production is scheduled to begin in late 2017. When production begins, we will begin deliveries in North America starting on the West Coast, moving east. As we continue to ramp production, we will begin deliveries in Europe, APAC and right-hand drive markets.

---

So get out there and reserve that Model 3, and remember, the surest way to do so is to peel off a hundred grand and buy a Model S.

Ancient Greek music tended to focus on harmonies. Roman was more stark, Japanese more stark still.

I suspect that there was a greater variation *at the time*, and things were preserved that were popular with elites at the time of preservation. I suspect that Japanese singers had a greater range than depicted, for example, simply because human.

475 468 I still don't get the Mahler love. I'm sure it's complex and not-for-the-proles, but Chopin meandered as well but he at least had a sense of maximum amount of style an audience was willing to suffer.

There's a weird story that gozinta this.....I was in summer school for an early grade (5th?) and an instructor played an album of classical music on the Moog. When I asked what that was, he replied, "Walter Carlos, Switched-On Bach". He was absolutely wrong, it was Ruth White, "Short Circuits" (1970).

But that misidentification sent me haring-off after Moog albums near-and-far (e.g. "Switched-on Buck" -- the "Bakersfield sound" as rendered on the Moog). The idea that sounds could be conjured forth from nothing, as Athena sprang from the head of Zeus, fascinated me -- fascinates me still, if truth be told. And it has resulted in a very fat, odd corner of my recorded-music collection.

481 I don't know if anyone saw it, but in the last thread I posted about the Japanese going to actual real Helicopter money drops. They're going to give "vouchers" to "low income young people" to buy shit. Free money, created by central bank. However, these vouchers have to be spent. They can't be deposited or debt paid off with 'em. You have to buy shit.

IOW, this is the closet thing any of these geniuses have done to a true helicopter money drop. QE didn't work, NIRP didn't work, and now they're going to an actual helicopter drop.

It's all a mad attempt to stimulate aggregate demand. Get that back up and All Will Be Well. Destroy the evil savers, make the rubes spend money on shit.

I tried a search in my area, 'prime beef Santa Clarita' and got three hits that weren't actually in Santa Clarita but not unreasonably far for something special.

If I was really determined, I could head 160 miles North to Harris Ranch and get it right from the source, though they have retailers carrying their stuff a lot closer.

There used to be a really serious meat market in the area but they went under a couple of years ago and their location joined the numerous empty storefronts that trouble me whenever I go out.

The right search might surprise you.

518 Speaking of the power of central banks. There was an interesting paper I read about that. There's the age old question. Does the Fed move the market or does the market move the Fed. Well, this paper looked at some subtle things to answer that question.

Back in the day, the Fed used to be coy and wouldn't come out and save it was targeting interest rates like it does now. But the Fed was pulling it's money supply levers to try to set interest rates. There was the view that the size of the Fed's moves weren't really large enough relative to the size of the market to exert the influence it did, and the guys I was reading tried to look at that.

They found that the true measure of short term interest rates wasn't really the Fed Funds rate, but the short term Treasury bill rates. That was the one that was the most sensitive.

And they concluded that no, the Fed didn't really have the power, it was the market *thinking* the Fed had the power. Back then, the market sort of had to guess what the Fed was trying to do with rates. And they found a couple of instances where the market guessed wrong momentarily. The actual short term T rates moved where the market *thought the Fed was going*, not where it was really going.

So the invisible hand could actually buck the Fed if it wanted to, but it just does what the Fed wants it to based on the belief that the Fed can force it.

519 Incidentally, there is a real place -- Thomasville, NC -- that has a huge factory that used to make Thomasville furniture. I've been there. It's currently padlocked, fairly recently, with the jobs shipped off to China -- and replacement manufacturing jobs barred by the Department of Labor, OSHA, and the EPA -- not to mention the general drag on jobs from Obamacare.

I yearn to kick the DoL, OSHA, EPA, and Obamacare to the curb and make stuff there -- the factory's already built! It has floorspace, electricity, railways in and out! There are a ton of people around locally who know and understand craftsmanship!

But if the beltway unistate has its way, it won't happen. The plant will decay and become open to the elements; the people will become addicted to the government suck; the innovation will succumb to groupthink; the enviroweenies will turn off the lights; and the SJW will blame it all on evil sexist racist heterocapitalists.

The Nazis were right-wing ... in European politics. Since pretty much all Euro governments are collectivist (as the "party" is the fundamental political entity in all their dogshit parliamentary systems) the basic left-right spectrum breaks more along internationalist/nationalist lines.

The Nazis are right wing in European scales but would be left wing socialists in the American political spectrum. The problem that we have these days is that too many people think that left-right is the same everywhere. The American political structure is utterly unique and our left-right spectrum is different from all others, due in large part to that fact that we never had a permanent royal executive that our legislature had to slowly steal power from.

Collectivism is an inherent part of European governmental architectures, as evidenced by the fact that they are all party-oriented systems with essentially no independent executive branch or judiciary - just a legislature that stole all the power and creates a pretend, ephemeral executive whenever some party or coalition has an iron grip on it. There is little to distinguish their various brands of collectivism and, so, the left-right spectrum there has different meaning.

The idea that the Fascists were anything other than leftists was the official new normal from the Soviets to all their followers in Europe and the US right after Barbarossa.

Nobody trying to pitch that "Well, right wing for Europe" bit would have been taken seriously up until then. When Mussolini and Hitler declared themselves men of the left, they were addressing Europeans, not Americans.

Other soldiers at the scene shot and killed the two terrorists.

The soldier was in light-to-moderate condition with stab wounds in the shoulder and hand. Magen David Adom transported him from the scene to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.

The stabbing occurred before the Jewish community in the West Bank city of Hebron was set to start its annual Purim parade in that location

572 Israeli Arab lawmaker Ahmad Tibi raised the hackles of diplomatic officials in Jerusalem on Thursday after it became apparent that he had used the services of the Palestinian embassy in Bucharest in order to make arrangements for a visit to the Romanian capital, Israel Radio reported.

Foreign Ministry officials have been updated in recent days by their counterparts in Romania regarding Tibis anticipated trip.

Diplomatic officials in Jerusalem told Israel Radio that Tibis reliance on Palestinian government personnel is further proof that there are Arab lawmakers in the Knesset who have adopted a policy of antagonizing the State of Israel.

Shortly after last November's attacks on Paris by a Brussels-based Islamic State cell, a top US counter-terrorism official traveling in Europe wanted to visit Brussels to learn more about the investigation.

When the official tried to arrange meetings, however, his Belgian counterparts were not welcoming, according to US officials familiar with the events. The Belgians indicated it was a bad time to speak to foreign officials as they were too busy with the investigation, said the officials, who asked not to be identified.

Belgian officials declined to comment on the incident.

The brush-off was one small sign of mounting US frustration over Brussels' handling of its worsening Islamic militant threat.

Concern that the small European nation's security and intelligence officials are overwhelmed - and that its coordination with allies falls short - have again come to the fore following the Islamic State-claimed attacks on Tuesday that killed at least 31 people.

Several US officials say that security cooperation has been hampered by patchy intelligence-sharing by Brussels and wide differences in the willingness of different agencies to work with foreign countries, even close allies.

I wonder the same - which is why the Horde is such a comfort. I find myself biting my tongue until it bleeds because if I didn't Id get into a lot of trouble arguing with fools.

I've mentioned this already, but it really, really disturbed me yesterday to hear a young Marine vet enthusiastically praising Bernie, who is going to give everybody free college and healthcare and unicorns and lollipops.

It's one thing to hear a bearded hipster with ear gauges talk about how great Sanders is, but when you hear a clean-cut, employed Iraq vet talk about how life will be great when the rich pay for everything, you realize just how brainswashed young people are and how deep the rot is.

A New Zealand university professor has come under criticism for comparing SodaStream to a Germany company that cooperated with the Nazis.

The news website Stuff.co.nz reports that Professor Scott Poynting, a supposed expert on hate crimes from the University of Auckland, wrote a letter to the Waikato Times last November.

"Thank you for explaining in your article how SodaStream generously provided work for Palestinians. I understand that IG Farben provided work for large numbers of Jews. Not that I have anything against Germans, mind you," he wrote in response to an article on the Israeli company.

What? You say the Palies are living and working of their own free will? And they haven't been killed? Unpossible!

Pixy should not ban you because you get a new hash. Mine changes on its own often. In any case, I think your hash is determined by your modem or router, not the provider.

Well, it wasn't entirely politics free. If you see a post with [ ] in it (and I am one of the guilty) it was political comment that was deleted by Maet. Nothing bad enough to start a fight or get banned, but Maet was trying keep it from having any politics.

Thought for the day. Is it just me or does there seem to be virtually no Islamic terrorist attacks in South America? Other than the obvious strict controls put in place by communist/ totalitarian - controlled countries, why would that be the case?

649 God bless Col. Avery Kay.
Back in the day when I was an FO in the USMC, I had the privilege of directing fire from A-10 Warthogs. Compared to the other aircraft we used you could immediately tell the Warthog would be a viable resource for close air support. They could come in slow and tear shit up way better than all the others. The Warthog seemed to be able to turn on a dime and make passes on target like no other. It's sad the military wants to get ride of the A-10 rather than improve on any of it's deficiencies, but, anyone with military experience knows how stupid the "brass" can get.
