3 John Kasich will continue, especially now that Rubio has dropped out, in order to push the cycle into a brokered convention. Between some of the assholes posting here last night and some of the pundits and political operatives talking last night, there seems to be a bunch of people who think that a brokered convention that denies Trump the nomination is the greatest and cleverest idea since the invention of the wheel.

5 Good Morning Morons. Today is Wednesday, March 16, 2016. On this day in 1802 the Army Corps of Engineers was established with the initial purpose to found and operate the United States Military Academy at West Point.. A rare government agency that achieved its purpose. But not so rare because it never went away.

6 Big news this morning, Rubio loses his own home State as voters in FL recognize a backstabbing RINO SOB. However Soros funded Kayshit wins OH so he can continue to muddy the waters. Overall Trump won every State yesterday but OH which went to favorite turd which OH voters could not shit.

Yeah you back stabbing SOB we already have one too many Mavericks stabbing us in the back with Democrats. And yes, we resent Republicans who claim to be conservative while shitting on us and calling it rain.

Kasich is not a waste of money for Soros. Kasich can play the role that Rubio has up until now by keeping Cruze from getting enough votes to win and by keeping Cruz in the race so that Trump will not get 1237 delegates.

When the convention gives the nomination to somebody who did not get the most votes or win the most delegates in the primary, a whole lot of potential Republican voters will stay home or vote third party on election day in November and Hillary Clinton will be elected, appoint at least one new Supreme Court justice and complete the destruction of the United States initiated by Barack Obama.

That sounds like George Soros is definitely getting his money worth from his bankrolling Kasich.

Too late - Rubio and Kasich have already guaranteed a first-ballot victory for Trump, the guy the GOPe says ought never be the nominee. Trump is now officially half-way to the nomination with lots of friendly territory coming up and a divided opposition. In the end, it won't even be that close. 85 I'm sad. Trump is a far left liberal, who donated to liberals in the last 12 election cycles, who supports affirmative action, increasing taxes, and open borders, and lying about what he believes in.

But now, all Trump Haters need to suck it up and support Trump. In the choice between Hillary and Trump, we need Trump.

Trump needs you. 10% of his current support is only from Media support, and all of that is about to go to Hillary. Everything that was covered up will now be reported breathlessly. He free TV time just ended. Low-information voters are going to learn to hate Trump in the next few months.

91 Kasich won Ohio with less than 50%. If you add Cruz and Trumps totals that number is larger than Kasich vote count. Not a resounding victory.
Kasich gets more air time now. His platform is a more open amnesty and Obamacare expansion than Jeb, Rubio and Romney combined. How did that work out for them?
As Governor of Ohio Kasich can buy votes in Ohio with Ohio taxpayer money. He got about 200,000 votes more than Trump. I'm not impressed. Guess all the dead people voted for Hillary. Trump had a bigger vote count than Hillary.
Suspect Kasich implodes quickly.

92 JJ we would alone need to wall off the Capitol area in Sacramento including the state legislature. If those people could live in some kind of echo chamber where they had to actually experience the results of their cray cray legislation (instead of the people they inflict their laws upon) things would look alot more normal in that state.

I have traveled to far northern California 2x in 6 months for business. I was born and raised in this area. I was shocked and heartened at how many signs they had up promoting the State of Jefferson. I saw lots of promotions for local gun shows. Rural Cali still has a pulse.

Grumpy you know how this stuff works. It's politicians: WWE Smackdown: Verbal Edition.

Politicians crave power. Yes even the conservative ones. If they don't think that they are the ideal person for this powerful position , what are they running for , right?

Trump/Cruz gives :

Trump: the reluctant Very Conservatives, some Evangelicals etc., a Veep with an inside view of the Senate and knowledge of where the bodies are buried, not to mention total control of the Senate by that same Veep. The pleasure of smacking down the GOPe who broke the terms of the "no independent run" contract and tried to schlong him with Rubio and Kasich, brokered convention, etc.

Cruz: VP , as mentioned above President of the Senate and control over McConnell and the GOP deadweight that has been slamming him at every turn, a bully pulpit for an eventual Presidential run.

It's pretty logical really.

Again , the insults are theater. They are big boys and professionals.

149 Are you sure about this?

It is still mathematically possible. It is, however, impossible short of Donald getting run-over by Johnny Son Of MailMan's post truck, which then blows-up with Johnny in it.

Looking at the delegate count (NYT, only source I could find), Cruz has 395-delegates, meaning that he needs 842 to get to the magic number. There are less than 1200-delegates left to be won, meaning that Cruz needs to win better than 70% of the remaining which is simply not going to happen.

Cruz' last chance was last night and he fell short in MO, NC and IL. It's over.

Posted by: DocJ at March 16, 2016 07:07 AM (5Nr9V)

150 Regarding Mr. Kasich:

The man's vanity will not allow him to stop, but his major supporters in Ohio should consider this--they may be forfeiting a unique opportunity should they try to continue to push the man. This is not to mean either Trump or Cruz is an ultimate answer to anything--just that allowing Ms. Clinton to win because establishment leaning types thought they could still dictate terms is going to have costs. The "establishment" of Ohio, and particularly of the Cincinnati region (but also Akron), should strongly consider that indulging Mr. Kasich's vanity project may cause other things to be permanently removed from the table--and Cincinnati may never get the chance again to be anything more than what it is.

This is because Cincinnati first grew to prominence because of transportation, but when the mode of transportation changed to rail, the city stagnated relative to others. No Kroger, no Proctor and Gamble, is ever going to make it greater than what it is today. The movers and shakers of Ohio should strongly consider what they want most in the future for the state. If it is to continue John Kasich's run until summer, that is what they will mostly get. The reason for this is simple: beyond pique and irritation of losing an election to the Clinton crowd, pushing a man who is obviously not going to win anything else but Ohio, because they simply wish to maintain control, indicates they are lightweights. Events have moved beyond their ability to control and dictate, and they refuse to recognize it.

And this would indicate they are fools, and one does not partner with fools on business ventures.

The Midwest *is* America. Ohio has a unique chance, but right now, it is not locked in, because of the newness of it all. Choose wisely, Ohio, choose wisely.

Even dead, Trump would remain on the ballots and receive enough votes to make it impossible for Cruz to get the nomination.

I can argue both for and against.

On the plus side, Cruz's brain and instincts could be a big help to Trump in getting things right. On the down side, Trump's ego might not allow him to take that advice. On the plus side, all successful CEOs understand that much of their success lies in hiring the right advisers and following their advice.

If Cruz can help Trump guide the nation to a successful 8 year administration, then that's a great place to be.

Of course, in 2024, the GOP-e will run Romney and Ryan and Kasich and Jeb and Krispy.

167 When the convention gives the nomination to somebody who did not get the most votes or win the most delegates in the primary, a whole lot of potential Republican voters will stay home or vote third party on election day in November and Hillary Clinton will be elected, appoint at least one new Supreme Court justice and complete the destruction of the United States initiated by Barack Obama.

--

Sadly, I'm reaching this conclusion more and more. If the numbnuts at the convention vote against the will of the people, Hillary will be president. It's that simple. But the establishment R's in Washington have been telegraphing repeatedly they'd rather lose and have Hillary as president than {gasp} Trump or Cruz. And they mean it.

I had vague hopes of optimism when this whole thing started. I already see the writing on the wall. The whole enchilada is just so, so corrupt. We're likely going to wind up with Hillary and someone equally vile as her VP, like Castro or Warren.

It is still mathematically possible. It is, however, impossible
short of Donald getting run-over by Johnny Son Of MailMan's post truck,
which then blows-up with Johnny in it.

Looking at the delegate count (NYT, only source I could find), Cruz
has 395-delegates, meaning that he needs 842 to get to the magic number.
There are less than 1200-delegates left to be won, meaning that Cruz
needs to win better than 70% of the remaining which is simply not going
to happen.

Cruz' last chance was last night and he fell short in MO, NC and IL. It's over.

Being president wields a shit ton more power than just being a lone senator. Reagan was hated by his own party as well and look what he was able to accomplish even with all the static from his side of the aisle. You have the people on your side. I guess there are shades of gray in the Oath of Office for the Governor of Ohio: "I, (name), do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of Ohio, will administer justice without respect to persons, and will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all of the duties incumbent upon me as (name of office) according to the best of my ability and understanding.
