TMZ Reports That Nancy Reagan Has Died [Y-not]

Nancy Reagan has died ... TMZ has learned from a close family member.

I haven't seen this reported elsewhere yet, but assuming it's true, Rest in Peace dear lady.

I think her greatest legacy is the love she shared with Ronald Reagan.

**Updated with a nice picture of the loving couple.**

**Updated with statement from the Reagan Library below:**

36 Sad news. Many commenters on left-wing sites already pissing on her corpse. Of course, I remember this classless boor of a president even making cracks about her having "seances" shortly after he was inaugurated.

I'm so tired of these lowlifes and ready for a national divorce. It'd be so much better to watch them cannibalize themselves from the safety of our own sovereign borders than to have them constantly dragging us down, going election to election fretting about how much liberty we lose if they win.

48 I do remember how she was disparaged for her "just say no" motto on drug use. The left howled and mocked her for that, because...I don't know why.

Maybe they felt like there should have been some huge new government program with massive funding to go with that.
Whatevs.

But such a simple statement belies so much conservative thought, it escapes some folks. Just say no, take responsibility for your health and actions, and the ravages of drug abuse won't be yours for the enjoyment. It's true.

RIP

I had a bizarre dream about her a few years ago. The details have faded from memory, but it was pretty vivid at the time.

She was in my neighborhood for some reason, and I took her out for dinner at a local restaurant. Nothing fancy, just a typical downscale suburban eatery. She seemed frail and sad, and I was trying to cheer her up. Very strange dream.

54 The adults die.

And you realize, shit!, we're the adults.

I was living in Europe when Reagan won the Presidency. The world's opinion of America turned on a dime. It knew there was a new Sheriff in town.

I remember, stationed at Langley AFB, being told by the senior NCOs just what life was like under Carter. I remember being so excited and proud when the 27th, 71st, and 94th reported that *all* their aircraft were finally mission-ready. There's nothing better than seeing a hangar queen accelerate down the runway, take off, and then accelerate - vertically.

I know, I know, this is not about Nancy Reagan, but when I think about her, it brings him in, and takes me to Morning in America.

I love this country. I will miss her.

I'm old enough to remember when Reagan was considered an intellectual lightweight. I haven't seen any evidence to support such nonsense and I was a Democrat until 2002.

I guess good political instincts can be conflated with intellect, but the end results don't necessarily translate into success. I believe Bill Clinton to be more lucky than smart. And if anyone can prove to me that the Zipster has any kind of brilliance behind his persona, I'd love to hear it.

I have a liberal (I wouldn't say she's a leftist) friend and she loved Reagan. She thought he had a sunny disposition. Reagan may have been the first and last R she voted for. Some people feel a need to give their opinions on absolutely everything and their opinions have just the same weight as everybody elses opinion. The people who loved and liked Nancy Reagan who are still alive and well will continue to do so, Those who didn't, won't. Yammering about it won't change anyone's opinion. If she was suffering or had Alzheimers I'm glad that is at an end. Prayers for family and friends who did love and like her.

111 102 Trivia: Ron and Nancy met when they started in the movie Hellcats of the Navy.,

Posted by: The Great White Snark at March 06, 2016 01:08 PM (Nwg0u

I think that was the only movie they were in together. They actually met when Reagan was in the staunch anti-Communist group (forget the name) and one of his friends asked him to meet with Nancy Davis to reassure her that her name was clear, as there was another Nancy Davis in Hollywood with Communist leanings.

So they arranged for dinner. Ronnie told Nancy he had a pressing engagement in the morning so it couldn't be a very long dinner; she told him the same thing.

Turned out to be a very long dinner. And the rest is history.

Yes, when Nancy Reagan dressed in expensive designer clothes, she was a heartless, vain spendthrift. When Michelle Obama does it, she's an admirable "fashion icon."

Of course, in both cases they were borrowing a lot of the clothes. (It's great advertising for the designers.)
When Nancy explained the borrowing, the media then blasted her for supposedly being a billboard for Big Fashion. Michelle? Hasn't even been mentioned.

Glad you mentioned the funny skit she did. It was wonderful. It poked fun at the media as much as it was self-deprecating. Those Reagans knew how to fight the media with smiles and class!

142 CNN was gracious in reporting. Wolf Blitzer said nice things about Nancy.

Ron and Nancy used to say if they were apart for long, they became very lonely for each other, even if it was just one of them going out of the room.

I really don't care about much what the people on the Left will say about Nancy Reagan.

Was she a saint? No, but she was a gracious and good woman, the anchor and the love of Ronald Reagan's life. Her life was a repudiation of all the vulgarity that animates the Left.

Posted by: Bossy Conservative....tortured American at March 06, 2016 01:55 PM (+1T7c)

143 OneEyedJack: I do remember how she was disparaged for her "just say no" motto on drug use. The left howled and mocked her for that, because...I don't know why.

Maybe they felt like there should have been some huge new government program with massive funding to go with that.

Man, I really hate to do this - and waited a bit before posting - because I might be mistaken as saying something disparaging about the late First Lady, but since it was brought up...

If Carrie Nation wants to stand out there with the Salvation Army band and preach against boozing, more power to her. When she and her moralizing ilk attack the bars with an axe, or get a Constitutional Amendment passed prohibiting booze, that's a whole different matter.

It wasn't Nancy's saying "Just say no" - it's that her husband was in charge of (admittedly inherited) the "huge government program with massive funding" that locked up people and ruined lives and families for smoking a little mother nature. (Yes, and harder drugs.)

Blanket Prohibitionism is always the solution worse than the problem it's intended to treat. Unconstitutional, in the sense of presuming guilt without an actual transgression.

People who drink or do drugs, generally speaking, it's a personal matter, not a transgression. Self-abusive levels are a matter for one's family, church, and might be a matter for one's boss, but not for law.

People who drive drunk, deal to kids, barf and pass out on the street, are belligerent or threatening to others - whether because they are narcotized or not - are transgressing, and a matter for law.

Legalization can go too far the other way, when repeated drunk drivers are let off with a slap on the wrist, when pot candy ends up in kids' hands, and worse, enforcement of laws against transgression is too lenient.

The poor, drunk, drug abusing, and demented we will have with us always, and our current vast epidemic of abuse is a failure of religion, of education, of economy, the degradation of family and neighborhoods, and understandable disregard for big and unbalanced government and consequent disdain for the rule of law.

"Just say no" is fine, upstanding moral advice, a great generalization. Nancy didn't deserve the horrid disparagement she got; it was, for a few of us, simply that The Government, her husband's administration and others, held a gun to your head while saying it, that made her statement difficult to appreciate.

I'll stop there. It's all be said (and argued against) a million times for decades.

It's early in the day, but I think I'll grab a beer and toast her memory. And Ron's.

152 May she rest in peace united with her beloved Ronnie. She was a great and gracious lady and she did a wonderful job as First Lady. I will never forgive the Liberals for excoriating her effort to get donations to buy a new set of WH china with enough place settings and serving pieces for large state dinners. The same folks who had no problem with Mooch's vast excesses on our time just couldn't handle her getting new china through private donations.

From what I understand, the Liberals on Twitter and Facebook are being profane in their glee over her death. A pox on them and their works--literally, a pox, as in the STD they allowing in the borders that rots your genitalia.
