Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Debate ScorecardTed Cruz: Generally stayed out of the Rubio-Trump tangles, which is tactically smart, but gets few points for courage. Had good understated line, though: "Donald has a tenuous relationship with the truth." Generally did a good job, but sometimes gives the impression that he is not actually a man, but rather a robotic man-suit piloted internally by a team of ultra right-wing ducks standing on each other's backs and quacking Fredrick Hayek quotes to each other. Continues making the strategic mistake of telling people what he actually believes and what he'd actually do, which our current culture reads as "insincerity" and "sanctimony." A-. Marco Rubio: Had the flu and it showed, but hard to deduct points for that. Continued attacking Donald Trump, which was the right thing to do, but will probably wind up benefiting Ted Cruz or even (my God) John Kasich more. Did not mention loving America for once, nor loving his grandpa, so I have to wonder Why? Why you hatin' on America and grandpa now, Marco? Came in 2nd place, which is what we now know as "Rubio Gold." Spent the last twenty minutes insisting to a baffled audience that "no one expected us to be here" and "everyone said we would never get to this place" even though the debate schedule had been confirmed months ago and everyone was sent a map with clear directions. Finished up by pandering to mid-40s Hispanic women by kinda-sorta insinuating he was the original lead singer in Menudo. B. John Kasich: As David French notes, pretended to be an Elder Statesman by completely staying out of necessary fights, which actually marks him as an AWOL Coward. Continued playing to his core supporters of artisinal bong craftsmen and elderly public masturbators. Debate moderators allowed him to glide out of his previous answer on coercing bakers to bake gay wedding cakes -- he was an enthusiastic supporter of forcing them to doing so -- by simply saying one shouldn't force them to do so, but should seek another baker. Well that's fine -- but if the law on the books says they must, your advice that one should avoid hailing them into court is, as usual for Kasich, cowardly and liberal. It provides them no protection -- Kasich is merely offering a "Don't be a dick" advisory to gay zealots. As none of the moderators pressed him on this, he was able to hide the fact that he still embraces the most toxic gay mafia view of the law possible. Also, his face looks like you accidentally left it in your pocket and put it through the wash. D-. Donald Trump. Repudiated the Jeff Sessions Immigration Plan -- which was the only reason to support him -- by declaring he was "changing" and "softening" it because we need all these highly-skilled people to take our jobs. Then said he would be "flexible" on the wall and deporting illegals and pretty much admitted he'd said as much to the New York Times editorial board, and then, in case you were unsure if you'd heard him right, praised Marco Rubio's Amnesty plan as "fine" and a good opening bargaining position. Kept talking about his hand-size and then, just when you thought this was getting weird, brought it back into a more sensible area by assuring the world that his penis size was sufficient for most. He then added some substance to his foreign policy platform by declaring that he would force American soldiers to break the law and murder children. On other issues, he was less reassuring. His answers to questions about Trump University and the budget were somewhat uncomfortable to watch, in much the same way that it is uncomfortable to watch a bus full of circus clowns crash into a school for blind children and even worse the clowns were doing their "Gasoline Comedy" act that day and now all the blind children are on fire and the clowns are trying to squirt water on them with their stupid lapel-flowers but the flowers are just squirting out more gas and the children are crying tears of fire out of their Unseeing Dead Eyes and holy shit a couple of the clowns look like they have boners and they're chasing around the fiery blind children trying to rub up on them with these bobbling clown-boners with big red bulbs on their tips. In other words, as Trump would say: Not the best. Really not terrific. A real mess! Grade: I don't even know how to even start grading this. As far as a letter grade, I give a red X carved crudely through the face of a rotting pig with a bunch of stripper-glitter tossed on it.Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Ted Cruz, winner: C-. Showed up, looked competent, is too much of a lawyer for his own good. Donald Trump: F. Obi-Wan voice: "You were the Chosen One!" The lowest points were those where Rubio kept hitting Trump on Trump University as well as Trump's responses. Cruz's admonishment about "Is this what we want?" got high marks following that. The real big loser is our country.
I'm growing a little tired of the cheerleading for effete attack dogs like Rubio and Romney. Rubio's mission is clear. He has no path to the nomination and his job is to take down Trump. Period. He's become a full-time, page-boy Twink for the Establishment. He's a loathsome piece of garbage and a handmaiden of the party. These, by the way are the same people who gave us McCain and Romney and they Must. Not. Have. Trump. It's personal with them and they would rather not have the candidate of the "dumb" and "downtrodden" even if it destroys the country. These people are evil and need to be stamped out like a bad contagion of the Clap. Cruz sounded like a bad cereal commercial. He sounds canned and insincere. He's either over prepped really underwhelming- and I like Cruz. Kasich, beyond sounding like he's dropping acid or just came from a Cheeba Party actually made some good points and was on the right track. That's just sad' Like the day after a four Joint smoke, sad. Trump is just, eh, Trump. He's light on details and long on promises. Oh yeah and long in insults. I said before the Republican Party is becoming a suicide pact- and I meant it. There is no hope when people who allege to be "conservatives" state they are going to vote for Hillary, or sit hone in their mom's basement because fucking boo-hoo they don't like Trump. I'm going to vote for the guy who is the nominee who has the best chance of winning. By the way, that chance of winning is diminished every day, not by the Democrats, but by the half-ass bunch of dopey, unreasonable, under-read, self ingratiating, dumbasses who mostly call themselves 'Republicans". Trump gets some of Rubio's voters. Kasich is hoping for a game changer. Cruz did well but is still loosing to Trump. Rubio lost when he came across as a johnny-come-lately. What exactly does Trump bring to the table now that is of benefit? He hasn't walked back or softened his desire to kick China in the ass, so there's that. But this immigration thing was the defining cornerstone of his campaign. He's likely walking it back, to where he probably truly stands, because the NYT will undoubtedly release the interview showing him saying exactly what he was telegraphing last night.

But I do need something to jump-start my imagination and get me back to writing, so perhaps that would be a way to ease back into old Hollywood. Speaking of which, I'm sure I must have posted this pic of Gloria Swanson, but here it is again, as it's one of my faves: http://goo.gl/OR6lgK It's a still from the 1928 movie Sadie Thompson, in which Swanson plays a San Francisco hooker who has traveled to Pago Pago to start a new life. She ends up entangled with an army sergeant who wants to marry her and an American missionary (played by Lionel Barrymore) who both fears and desires her. It's considered to be one of Swanson's best movies. There was also a 1997 operatic version of the story. I like the picture because of Swanson's iciness (while I dislike bitchy women, the classic English coolness has always intrigued me), and the stunning clearness of her eyes. __________________________ When Trump first started saying he would build a wall and deport illegal aliens, and too many criminals have been swarming across our southern border from Mexico and that Mexico is complicit in this, and that Mexico should pay for the border wall -- voters responded. They were thrilled that some politician was finally saying what they've been thinking and saying for years now. But Trump seemed to believe that the voters were thrilled by him personally, instead of just by what he was saying about immigration and border security. He convinced himself that voters were in love with him, instead of with his hard-line stance on illegal immigration, and he started thinking he could do no wrong. Trump is using the Art of the Deal on his supporters. As soon as he has their votes he'll turn on them.
The problem is he thinks he's on the Romney path to the nomination and his work is essentially done. The difference is that Romney was at least somewhat acceptable to a very sizable majority of the party. Trump is acceptable (not preferred, but acceptable) to a bare majority. He's revealing himself too early. He misjudged his timing. He wants this to be over, but Cruz and Rubio don't think it's over just yet and are fighting tooth and nail. Also, the Establishment doesn't like Trump very much. I don't think it's because of too many of his policy positions (he's obviously a squish on immigration), but his demeanor. They want someone calm and reassuring, which Trump is not and never will be. On top of that, the Establishment does want to win in November, and Trump consistently polls below Hillary. They just want to win with Rubio instead of Cruz. So, he's got too little support amongst the party itself while the power brokers are doing everything they can to stop him. His gambit to lie to the Republican Party wasn't poorly thought out, it was just poorly timed. Posted by: TheJamesMadison at March 04, 2016 08:08 AM (rJSDb) 156

His Russia comment was stupid because it was only half right. Russia isn't some existential threat. They are a competitor. Had he said it that way, Obama couldn't have used his 80's called line. Right after Sarah "Drill Baby Drill" Palin endorsed him, the Sunday shows have him on video saying that he thinks Obama's "no drill" policy on oil resource development is just fine and there's no need to change it. Right after Jeff Sessions endorses him because he's the guy in synch with Sessions' immigration ideas, he walks out on the debate stage and says "that Sessions plan is too harsh, anyone in favor of it has no heart, and I won't be doing that." Am I the only one starting to see a pattern here? Back in the year 2000, I'm sure some automotive expert/blog writer did a scorecard on the new models...
He probably was upset, because the public was flocking around a car he didn't like. He knew in his heart that if these people would only look at the specification sheets, they would realize what he did, and that the Pontiac Aztek was the best car ever made. You could lay a full piece of plywood down in the back. However, the vast majority of the public just didn't like the car. It was hard for the them to point to anything specific, but they knew they weren't going to buy it. The were not going to buy it. For some reason, people decided at some base level that, should they need to transport a sheet of plywood, they would cut it in half or tie it to the roof instead of buying a car they didn't like. Logic never entered into the conversation. Is this how things should be? Perhaps not. But that's how they are. Posted by: jwest at March 04, 2016 08:21 AM (Zs4uk) 213

I think it all depends on Flroida. If Rubio loses, does he get out or stay in to foil Trumps delegate count? Even if he stays in to a brokered convention, I highly doubt they would nominate Rubio. Trump does not do well in debates; but to be fair no one would if all the long knives are out for you. Part of he problem with Cruz is he is all polished and has an answer for everything; frankly like an annoying smart ass co worker and engenders that emotion in folks who are not his rabid fans already. Most people do not care to be lectured to in a rather sanctimonious tone, intentionally or unintentionally. Kasich came off looking the best because he behaved like an adult and was frankly normal. Yeah.
I have to admit Trump probably killed or maybe fatally weakened his campaign last night- probably giving us some kind of brokered convention. That he has now started backing off his stance on illegal immigration was shocking. Truly. And makes him much less the strong and forthright leader on this vital issue that people have been looking for. The biggest shock though is that the Supreme Negotiator- is already giving up his stated baseline before negotiations have even taken place. Which makes him just like The Turtle and Eddie Munster- surrender before engaging in battle. Trump was my plan B if Cruz couldn't break through. I suppose he still is... But now it will only be for the sheer enjoyment of watching the GOPe-types stare at the remains of the Blind Kids/Boner Clown Fire Jamboree that they turned this once great country into along with BFF, TFG- and perhaps, think in their slow, small brained way "My God, what have we done?". Romney's endorsement of Trump helped Trump. So glad he didnt endorse Cruz! Last night's debate was a disaster for Trump. It showed how all over the place he is. His supporters might now question "is he like me?" Or "I'm unsure who he is and what he stands for any more". Cruz's performance made it so much easier to knock on doors today in Ohio, although it was pretty easy yesterday - majority of ppl will be voting for him in our little area we took in NE Ohio. No one we talked to is voting for Kasich. He is a disaster in Ohio and his answer to the education question should scare everyone. CEO's of schools? He took over Youngstown schools. How does the taxpayer parent deal with a CEO? He lies about Common core too. He does not believe in local control of education - parents have risen up and fought him for 3 years to get rid of common core. He refuses to listen or accept calls from them, as do his GOP lemmings in the Ohio house.

There may be wailing and gnashing if Trump is maneuvered out of the nomination, but you can be sure that the non-Trump types will pout sufficiently if he does get the nomination. Those same (pardon my snicker) "party loyalists" will very likely refuse to vote in sufficient numbers to throw the election to Hillary Shelob Klingon. Then we can all be unhappy together.

My understanding is that after the first vote they are no longer bound. At that point, they can vote for whoever they want. Is that not true?
They release in stages. First vote everybody is bound, including delegates for candidates no longer running, so those votes are effectively for an empty seat. On the second vote something like 50% are unbound, and if I recall about 80% unbound on the third vote. If nobody has a majority going in it will be known by all and the horse trading I would think would occur mostly before and outside the convention. If a candidate's background is serving in the Senate, where he is but one voice and cannot do anything unilaterally, should it be held against him when he votes the way he said he would but others do not? A Senator's vote is his track record. I would prefer a conservative former Governor, but they all had to drop out early because voters care about style, not substance. John Adams had another son that was alcoholic. He and his wife both washed their hands of him and disavowed him. He died relatively young from his alcoholism. John Quincy was at his father's side from an early age displaying both a desire to learn and a well-developed sense of right and wrong, order and fairness. JQ's education and experience is unmatched by any of his contemporaries, from the incredible value of being taught by two of the best minds in Revolutionary America - his mother and father - to the studies abroad, with Thomas Jefferson, and the various ambassadorships and governmental posts. He was the one man trusted above all others by his father and America is lucky to have had the Adams' depth of knowledge and experience in our gestation, birth and early and formative years. This post is not meant as a personal assault to your point and I hope it won't read that way. I just revere the statesmanship and scholarship of all the Adams', Abigail's included, and cannot sit idly by while even the smallest besmirching of the truly superhuman achievement they accomplished in just two generations.
**** What you all probably heard last night was the sound of me laughing uproariously at Donald Trump admitting to the Trump fans - or, hat tip to Ace, the "Trump curious" - that he's been con jobbing the lot of you. let's see, open to more H1B1 visas, "changing / softening" on hardline immigration stances, states he plans to "negotiate with Democrats" on an immigration deal..... .....isn't that, oh, EVERYTHING that all of you Establishment haters found / find so completely disqualifying of Rubio? Yeah, your Orange Emperor God just acknowledged he was going to do all the same things if elected. It was hilarious. The sound you heard after my laughter, of course, was the sound of my sobbing, when the wave of reality that his admissions 1) probably won't mean anything in terms of support because 2) most of the right-leaning electorate will probably vote for him anyway. You've signed on to the cult of personality. That said, it's going to be so, so, SO MUCH FUN exposing the hypocrisy of all of the frauds in the conservative media supporting this grifter, and it's going to be an endless amount of comedy watching the Hannitys and Coulters and Limbaughs of the world break their logic circuits trying to rationalize it when Trump literally does nothing that he's claimed he was going to do re: immigration. The crazy thing, it's not just that they believe he's strong on immigration even though his plan was always amnesty. They also believe he's trustworthy despite his Trump University fraud and his blatant lies like the one about loudly opposing the Iraq effort. He really is the GOP Obama - where Obama spoke in genial generalities about a purple country (before going full-bore leftwing troll the minute he was elected), Trump says so many stupid, crazy and contradictory things that people just read whatever they want from his statements into whatever they hope his beliefs are. Unfortunately, where the media tended to ignore Obama's forays into loony extremist ideology, embrace of people openly committed to violence, and close ties to virulent racists, they will focus on Trump's to the exclusion of all else. *** Oh, I wouldn't bet on the Establishment backing Rubio at a convention. That's overstrong. Trump's position was enforcement first, and you have strong analysts like Kaus who signed onto it. Moreover, Trump was subjected to a firestorm when he brought it up that cost him personally, and he held strong. That impresses people, and that's moved him up to the head of the pack. At this time, Cruz wasn't bringing up immigration, even though there were numerous opportunities to do so. Assuming most of you are right about millennial abhorring manual labor and juicing up their CVs with "good works," it would only take a labor pool of a few thousand hard working millennials living within commuting distance of Trump's resort to enable him to hire American. He hasn't done it because that would put him at an economic disadvantage relative to his competitors. Via Romney yesterday the establishment has decided to go to a convention. At a convention Cruz and Trump will get zero, zilch, nada. So Cruz people can either fall in with Trump or allow the establishment to put in Rubio, Romney, etc... Either Trump wins outright or brokered convention... there is no third choice in reality.

I've seen this desperate fiction a few times lately, all since Trump got dogpiled in the pre-Super Tuesday debate and his "inevitability" came into question. It implies that delegates who voted for Trump and Cruz on the first ballot (at this point a virtual certainty to be in the majority) would flip to Rubio or whoever at the second. Takes a lot of contortions to see that happening. Posted by: fightwinger at March 04, 2016 10:54 AM (sQQU0) 527

The Cruz & Rubio tag team was very effective at pushing Trump off his comfortable talking points and into exposing his shallow knowledge, lack of principles, and an utter willingness to sell out on tough immigration stances. Trump clings to building the Wall as his big idea knowing full well that it will take years to get the money appropriated from Congress and fight the pitched lawfare the left will wage against it. Let alone the construction time. My guess is if he got the job, he'd make a half-hearted effort and let it stall. Rubio was too sick to be as effective as he was last week. He couldn't talk over Trump as well. Cruz was really on his game. He was more effective at skewering Trump and getting his own points across with the openings that Rubio created. I'd rather see Cruz win outright, but if it has to go to a contested convention so be it. Hopefully, we'll wind up with Cruz & Rubio as a team in that order to try to reunite the factions. Cruz is right that if Trump is the nominee the left's ad warfare will incinerate Trump and all the downticket candidates. If Trump can't stand up well enough to questioning in a Republican primary, he'll have little chance once the entire Dem/MSM media death star cranks up. We need all the bad stuff out there now so GOP voters can make up their mind. If they choose Trump over it all, then perhaps at least it'll be older news by the Fall. We're very fortunate that Hillary is such a flawed candidate and has a federal investigation hanging over her head. Posted by: Jill v2 at March 04, 2016 11:09 AM (1+uyO) 537

Republican primary voters will pay a lot more attention to Romney's outburst yesterday than anything said in last night's debate.
Trump is leading in the polls and the delegate count because working Americans are taking it in the chops. Trump is speaking to them, not to the political cognoscenti, and certainly not to the National Review's editorial board. Posted by: mrp at March 04, 2016 11:32 AM (JBggj) 604

As a professional presenter (I won't go into it more than that) let me comment on a verbal tic, or styling of my man Cruz. And he is my man.
I'm not endorsing the "style over substance" criticism, and I agree that it is Cruz' own level of conviction that sometimes comes across the "wrong" way to people used to fakery as the "correct" stylistic baseline. What Cruz needs to fix is his habit of slowing at the end of a sentence and right at where a natural pause ought to be, immediately starting with another sentence, thought etc. Its a style suitable for an appellate Courtroom in which you are afraid, in a pause, being interrupted by a question that will interfere with you getting your points out. The slowing preceding the natural pause is a way to sound like you are pacing naturally, but you really aren't (giving no space for interruption, reply or reaction). The underlying problem with this is that its a defensive, insecure style. Fear of being interrupted, or questioned is not a good trait. Its like someone who always has to explain how to make a watch when you ask them what time it is. Some matters of "style" are profound. Much like we are compelled by physical beauty because, in a snapshot, it can tell us a lot about a person's health, personality, genetics, intelligence, health, etc. you can't just discount "style" as not having some deep relationships to important things. Much like not trusting a man who doesn't drink, many have trouble trusting a guy who won't allow pauses in his speech (not the um... ah... duh... Obama style) but the natural, thoughtful pauses that invite the audience to think, and show a person secure in their own skin. Posted by: xnycpeasant at March 04, 2016 11:42 AM (3Rr8K) 617

My point redbanzai (really to the poster you were responding to) is that we really need to stop the bleeding and change direction on illegal immigration as much as anything. And yes, self deportation is key. It just got stuck with a stupid down-twinkle in a media smear on Romney, much as the word "binder" suddenly became a howling "gaffe." Ultimately the fetish about "legal" hides the ball that if we "legally" flood the country at all levels with the Third World, we lose our culture and our country just as surely as with "illegal" mass immigration.
You obviously are deluded or just don't know whom the delegates are. They are NOT selected by the campaigns. Every single delegate is a Republican Party person who has worked to become delegates in each state. The campaign of each candidate has zero say in whom is a delegate. They are only bound to the First ballot. Even on rules and process they are free to vote as they wish. Trump and Cruz will get nothing if it goes to a convention. A serious question for Cruz fans and perhaps former fans who had through this through: What new states would Cruz win in a general election to get him to the needed electoral votes? With Trump I could see winning Mass and NY along with Florida and Ohio. I just don't see how Cruz could flip any purple states at all (again, assuming Hillary's legal issues are buried). Ace:
Can you really call this a debate? It was an attempt at a public lynching. I'm surprised Trump acquiesced to this---six people against one. I defy anyone to have done what Trump just did---they don't have the balls. He stood alone. And he had to have a civil case re-litigated in public as Kelly discovered her inner prosecuting attorney. I notice she didn't try that tactic on anyone else. And that self-satisfied, smirking ass Chris Wallace is also a disgrace. It was like watching kids at a zoo throwing rocks at an animal. And Trump is having to take the public relations brunt as the media assigns the responsibility for its own childish and intolerant behavior to Trump. If you've ever seen a casual interview with Trump and just a few newsmen and no audience, he's just great: thoughtful, reasoned, diplomatic. Trump is not an expert; he's an executive. (Reagan was an executive, too.) He consults the experts and he provides the overall project guidance to push the thing through to completion. He also has the ability to see the big picture, which is why he's so successful. The big picture view is a very rare ability; 99% of humanity is incapable of seeing how details fit together. (They pay you big bucks in the business world for that talent.) No one else on that stage has that ability. He doesn't imagine he knows it all right now because he's going to get the details and work out a plan with military experts and economics experts and healthcare experts, etc. So he currently speaks in broad strokes. As for his so-called 'malleability', his great talent is getting groups of people with divergent interests to cooperate. Tactically, he's going to come out with the hard-line stance first and finesse it so that most people get something of what they want. A deal is only ever signed when all parties are reasonably content. In other words, he has anything but a totalitarian mindset. He's not like Obama; it isn't his way or the highway. He's not like Hitler or ever likely to be. I believe him when he says he wants to do, something for the country. I think he's out of his mind, but I believe him. I like Cruz and would gladly vote for him if he's the candidate, but I like Trump more---I've worked with guys like this all my life---and I think it's a tragedy that the media is so illiterate as far as business practices and the history of our political beliefs that they start freaking out when a guy whose political beliefs were respectable in a much finer era than out own is castigated as an extremist and outlier. Trump is a substantial person, and a talented candidate,, and he doesn't deserve this shit. He could have just said 'fuck it', and gone off to live a happy life without allowing himself to be flogged by Lilliputians like Chris Wallace in public. Why would an honorable citizen ever be encouraged to step forward and try to help us solve our problems if this is the reception that he gets? You wanted a man of action---you got a man of action. Indeed. And the last 25+ years have been precisely that. DC establishment has been reasonably content ballooning DC power, whether they personally prefer the red Skittles or the blue ones. Because there's something that brings them together in the end: ballooning DC power. There is not the slightest doubt in my mind that the establishment in both sides would be reasonably content under a Trump administration. Because he's already juiced about cutting deals to balloon DC power. And that is precisely why I utterly refuse to vote for RINOs, and why I never - ever - will vote for Democrats like him. No, please no. I've got Jeffrey Epstein attacks all lined up for Bill Hillary. Running Trump; who spent YEARS praising the underage sex slave owner who "Loved women as much as I do, especially younger ones" and had an "enjoyable social life" means that instead of getting to attack on praising underage sex slave owners; we'd have to defend that. If you expect me to defend praising a guy who owned underage sex slaves for loving women and having an enjoyable social life; you need to give me some direction. How do I turn underage sex slavery into a positive to my friends? Or do you think the interviews Trump did praising Jeffrey Epstein won't come out in the primary at all; because nobody thinks enslaving young girls for sex is a bad thing? Can you show me the polls in support of underage sex slavery? Posted by: gekkobear at March 04, 2016 01:38 PM (aS5WI) 672
Ace, I love you and all morons...but no way, no how, did Marlo get an A-.
How would the others do if attacked from all sides? Would they be defensive? Would any of you be defensive? The disappointment I had last night (and did not sleep well) is the sell out of the GOPe. The damn elite and establishment, labels I denied for eight years. Slow learner in denial, I guess. But what makes me LIVID is the sell out of people I liked: Bret Baier, Jonah Goldberg, Steve Hayes. I even thought Megyn Kelly was great at one time. So now I am thinking of watching Lou Dobbs on FOX Business. I am disgusted. That was no debate. Targeted "gotcha" questions all around, with the Cuban book-ends doing their reruns. Kasich? He was never attacked. Hell, I would look good on that stage. However, note, no one tread into the Hilz waters, the emails, the loss of national security. No one but Trump, I guess, who said she should not be able to run. What a waste of time that was. Not because of the attacks on Trump...but because key issues, some the American people may not know in their bubble, were not covered. I am stealing this from The UK Guardian site, a well written column by Jeb Lund, their version of our great Mark Steyn, anyway the comment (paraphrased) is this: "Why is Rubio spending so much time thinking about Trump's penis?" Good question. Posted by: ChristyBlinky, aging supermodel Redneck Queen at March 04, 2016 01:39 PM (wAMRL) 673
Oh, having issues posting links.
Google Trump Epstein Vice.com is the source. Then they have links to the various interviews over the year, with pull quotes of Trump. But they provide original sourcing to the claim And yes, Turmp praised Jeffrey Epstein to the skies; as his good close friend for over 15 years, who loved women as much as Trump, and enjoyed his social life. He seems to have avoided directly saying "who owns underage sex slaves" but his wording makes it very clear he knew the facts; and supported it. But hey, maybe we can make the GOP the party of supporting underage sex slave owners in 2016. Why not? It's Trump, and Trump can do no wrong; even if he's for enslaving underage girls for sex... right? We've got to attack the evil GOPe who think enslaving underage girls for sex is wrong. Stupid GOPe. Or do we have a better defense of this? Anyone? Bueller? Posted by: gekkobear at March 04, 2016 01:42 PM (aS5WI) 674
Bill Clinton actually visited Epstein's Pedo-Island.

The only reason I don't think Hillary is paying Trump to do this whole running-for-president thing so she'll win is that, if she were, the emails about it would have leaked out by now.

I still didn't get an answer regarding what new states Cruz would win. Anyone wish to chime in? I am not a Trump supporter btw - just trying to be realistic.
As an anecdote, my Mom (a Cuban btw) has voted Republican all her life except in 2008, when she voted Obama (and caused a minor rift with me). She is itching to vote Republican this year and CAN'T STAND Cruz because of his style (not substance). Yet she votes. She is scared of Trump - not sure what to make of him - and thinks Rubio is a child. Posted by: Soulpatchtony at March 04, 2016 02:04 PM (m40v5) 683
This analysis is better.
http://tinyurl.com/zv5h8yt And it provides a more comprehensive analysis of the GOPe's new "Crap on them all" strategy. But whatevs. Cruz the establishmentarian attorney whose voice has the power to shut minds off by the third syllable is going to win it all against the massive MSM onslaught in November. Trump may be turning a lot of people on, but he is turning more people off... accept for the Dems.
They must be ecstatic They can make deals and work with The Donald. Oh, and he has contributed a lot of $$$$ to them. Let's just give the middle finger to The Establishment. Trump isn't even The Establishment he is The Democrat lite. Posted by: redridinghood at March 04, 2016 02:22 PM (7GQM/) 687
Let me present another, more positive perspective on Cruz's performance (I haven't read the comments, too many now).
I'm a Rubio supporter. I am temperamentally "establishment"-friendly, and although I was very very early supporting Ted Cruz's Senate campaign (long before that idiot Sarah Palin glommed on to him), I've since cooled as he's pivoted to using more tea-party-friendly rhetoric. I like sedate, brainy Ted Cruz. I follow a lot of establishment types *and* tea party types, and everything in between. Last night, I didn't see a lot of excitement from the #CruzCrew. I saw a TON of complimentary talk about Cruz's performance from establishment and media types. And I liked him a lot last night too, more than I have in quite some time. There was a difference, I couldn't tell you what he did, but he was Presidential. Sober, although that's not the right word. He wasn't appealing to emotion. He was calm and logical with arguments that were more bulletproof than usual. I usually find myself finding weak spots in his rhetoric - not just him, I do this with literally everyone who speaks English - but that's because he is appealing to a different crowd with different motivations and different "triggers," for lack of a better word. I don't like lazy arguments. He didn't make them last night, and he explained WHY Drumpf's support of liberals is against everything we all believe. I think he's trying to make the establishment more comfortable with him. They are already of course because Trump is absolutely unacceptable (nevermind the conspiracy theories saying the establishment is helping Trump because he's a deal-maker, the establishment doesn't want to surrender the Presidency to Hillary! it really is about not losing to her!). Cruz is perfectly acceptable compared to Trump, but it doesn't hurt to reassure them. It reassured me, and it seemed, based on my twitter newsfeed, to be reassuring others. This is good. He needs to make the establishment as open to President Cruz as they are to President Kasich or President Jeb. (Not even gonna mention Rubio here because I know everyone here hates him and nobody will change their minds about their votes for or against based on a comment, but I'd kill for that Dos Hermanos Cubanos ticket.) @681 -
Working in government (I used to, as did everyone who served in uniform) does not make you a special snowflake who doesn't understand getting fired. If anything, it makes a lot of us MORE anti-government _because_ the fuckups can't be fired. Your argument is riddled with fallacies from start to finish. You worked for a billionaire, therefore Trump is good. Is George Soros? Tom Steyer? Mark Zuckerberg? By your logic, you should vote for them, too. And btw, Hillary is pretty filthy rich, too. Furthermore, people get repulsed by Trump's ugly mouth because he is rude, crude, and acts like he was raised by wild animals and has not matured one bit in decades of public life. Same exact language about everything. I have paid attention. If you think Donald J. Drumpf cares about the "lower class" any more than for what you can do to glorify him, I've got a bridge to sell you. Or I would, if Trump hadn't had it cleared out with government help aka eminent domain for his casino property. You're a tool, like cash. He will use you for what he needs. HE EVEN TOLD YOU THIS LAST NIGHT when he said he's "changing" his immigration policy! He got you roped in, and knows you won't leave - just as you wouldn't if he shot someone on 5th Avenue. He does not care about you or the things you expect from your government AT ALL. Congrats, "Lower class person," you got today's wall of text for clueless Trumpkin. I am finished for the day, I only have so much patience and not being an angry person, I don't want to waste any more of my time on ridiculous Trumpkin arguments. "He then added some substance to his foreign policy platform by declaring that he would force American soldiers to break the law and murder children."
To be fair, the DoD has reported Obama's drone strikes have resulted in the death of 41 terrorist and about 2500 other people who were near them at the time. They admit the among the 2500 were women and children. Posted by: Marvin Mungpie at March 04, 2016 03:53 PM (U936r) 691

Do you think this will make the Hot Air "Quote of the Day?"
"His answers to questions about Trump University and the budget were somewhat uncomfortable to watch, in much the same way that it is uncomfortable to watch a bus full of circus clowns crash into a school for blind children and even worse the clowns were doing their "Gasoline Comedy" act that day and now all the blind children are on fire and the clowns are trying to squirt water on them with their stupid lapel-flowers but the flowers are just squirting out more gas and the children are crying tears of fire out of their Unseeing Dead Eyes and holy shit a couple of the clowns look like they have boners and they're chasing around the fiery blind children trying to rub up on them with these bobbling clown-boners with big red bulbs on their tips."
