112 Trump's bothered by the word fuck.

Really?

Ages ago I had a job to manage in Manhattan. My employer supplied many truckloads of custom windows to a job Trump was doing on Central Park South at 6th Ave.

I was one of many subs and attended the periodic site meetings, run by Trump's project manager, a woman, 45 or so, who always had her assistant, a guy in his 30s, alongside.

That woman was the most foul-mouthed construction exec I had ever run across, and in that biz, mouths are all quite foul. Every other word was fuck.

I figured it came from the top at Trump.

But I guess it bothers him now. Sure.

179 The sidebar about the Atlantic meteor reminded me of something I meant to say earlier.

I would like to point out that had the Chelyabinsk meteor struck LA instead of a high latitude Russian city, the resulting more direct route toward the ground instead of the glancing path it did take would have resulted in far more damage than did occur. Maybe a hundred thousand people would have been killed and most of the city would have been flattened. Incoming asteroids do far more blast damage along the flight path than along side of it - plus the more direct path toward the ground would have meant the meteor would have been closer to the ground when it exploded.

By the way the people telling you that the Russian meteor was a once per century event are - surprise - lying. The actual number is closer to once per 10 years. Most of these strike over the ocean and they are generally ignored.

204 Okay, well, appreciated the "botched painting" article - I hadn't heard the lady's full story before, thanks.

And I hadn't heard about the Kansas gunman. (Was busy much of the day setting up a new router with the extra-fine 5# rubber mallet.)

And fish pharts... okay, had to click but didn't read.

3rd pic (prob already noted) goes to firewalled site.

The rest I either already knew the story (lion) presumably, or neither "alt" text nor URL gave much of a clue. And altogether much harder to scan than the usual ONT.

Conclusion: Text: still dollar-for-bytes the best entertainment value.

209 That cereal article is hysterical but I don't think much of it makes sense. It claims that kids don't eat cereal because they have to clean the bowl but then goes on to say that most kids aren't made to do any chores (on top of which many households let their kids just throw bowls in the dishwasher) which seems to contradict the anti-cereal reason they cited. I have yet to see any kid who is put off by some abstract need to wash a dish.

I think that delicious, tasty cereals are suffering because of the general attacks on all things good and tasty. The kids are admonished by their demented teachers not to eat sugar or sugary cereals and all the McDonalds type places don't even offer any good food for kids any more (do you want apple slices or broccoli with your burger? Apple juice or soy milk?).

Any kid left to himself would eat nothing but cereal, especially if it's Apple Jacks or Fruit Loops or Lucky Charms (with most of the grain pieces taken out).

227 OT, I posted this this morning on the art thread and Ace's first post. I wanted to post it one last time on Maet's great ONT so the night shift see's it too:

I've been pretty combative and full of vitriol towards Trump and my fellow Morons lately.

I got off my computer yesterday feeling frustrated and disappointed by all the Trump support. I feel it's foolish to put so much expectation and hope in that man. What bothered me the most is my attitude toward you guys. AosHQ and you Morons are my little slice of heaven I have everyday from all the crap that happens in the political world and I love the camaraderie here.

Point is I'm sorry for being such a bastard lately. You guys are weird and wonderful and so what if you guys like Trump? Ace doesn't call us Morons for nothing, right? So here's my heartfelt apology to the Horde, I'm sorry to those I've pissed off. I'm sorry to the lurkers who've been turned off by it.

With that said I'll tell you my feelings on Trump. As another commented on another site put it: "One can like a man, but hate him as a king."

s'fine. There's been too much war among the Horde lately, and it's nice to see someone apologizing. I think we've all, no matter what side we're on, gotten a little too heated about it from time to time. When you get down to it, we're left with nothing but a bunch of question marks about everyone.

You can't truly know what a man will do with power until he has it, and at that point, it's too late. The people who made this country were wise to hand out as few powers as possible, and hand them out piecemeal. One day, we'll have to figure out how to get back to that. But it won't be today, and tomorrow's not looking good either.

Keep the faith, hold onto hope. This is God's world, and we know how it all turns out in the end. Spoiler alert, the assholes lose.

Or was he referring to his manufacturer in religious terms as a joke? Or in a programmed requirement to show deference to humans?

Or is G. Lucas an incompetent weirdo who got incredibly lucky?

Yep.

We don't do cereal that much around here just because my kids don't seem to have an off switch when they eat it.

Bacon and Eggs? They eat their serving and they're done and happy.

Cereal? They just keep pouring more in.

I can't blame them too much because I'm the same way. You've got to balance the milk to cereal ratio.

Zuckerberg's does that for me.

Somehow suddenly he's all knowing about everything and the world should totes listen to him.

I remember Bill Gates being like that but the social network wasn't available to spread his stupidity around for all to see.

As it's grown and he's got older, we get a glimpse of what it would've been like and it's just like how Zuckerberg is acting now.

I think we're mostly all on Team Cob here, and are willing to do what
is best to thwart the trolls, but it is awkward for commenters to
merely try and pretend they don't exist -- especially without a full
appreciation of why this might be the optimal tactic.
Posted by: cthulhu at February 26, 2016 12:23 AM (EzgxV)

Because
it gives them attention, gets their 'message' out, and gets a reaction
from the commenters which is pretty much exactly what trolls are looking
for. Starve them of this and they lose interest. Well except for the
unbalanced stalker types.

Which seem to be increasingly common....and who might actually influence refugees from Tepid Zephyr if they are not mercilessly ridiculed. Thing about Latinas, or at least the Tex-Mex ladies with whom I've had some close acquaintance, is this:

There are no other women in the world who will, after a heated argument:

1) Throw all your clothes on the front lawn
2) Tear up every picture of you she can find
3) Trash you to every person who's ever heard of you
4) Slash your tires and key your car
5) And still have dinner waiting for you on the table when you get home.

The word 'mercurial' comes to mind, but it doesn't quite encompass the fullness of the phenomenon.

I've had two Tex-Mex girlfriends, and they were wonderful and terrifying, and I'm grateful to have known them and survived.

A browser. Lots of people use it on phones and tablets and it has a feature to save them bandwidth that sends them through a proxy server and compresses the pages. There aren't all that many of these proxy servers so if some troll was coming through one and got banned you will end up on the same banned IP list via the proxy server.

You can check your IP by going to any "what is my IP" website. Some of them will show the true IP you are coming from and some will show the proxy. Pixy identifies the proxy, so it's easy to be mistakenly banned if your browser happens to send you through one of them.

578 Hi,
I'm here only to offer Thank You to my AoS friends & others who prayed, so lovingly or beautifully for my friend Gayle that I & Sherry & Cthulhu & more that I can think of, Sherry also asked for Tuesday night/Wednesday morning,on ONT.

Thank you.

Sherry has had two losses & I apologize for not seeing it until Wednesday when it was daylight. Sherry I'm very sorry that that effing disease took your fiancée.

Gayle fell at a hospital Monday while her husband Paul was packing up car to take her home for 4-6 days. She was trying to use ladies room. Now she's unresponsive & I hope that's a good sign that she's not in any pain.

Thank you, I didn't see all that early in the morning, I responded to Ace post at 2:53 am or approximately that time.

Please pray for Gayle & her husband Paul ( Paul & her children probably need more prayers than Gayle now)

Thank you,Carol

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- In the latest twist in Illinois' financial crisis, the state is getting a windfall of $1.2 million - and growing - thanks to its decision to stop mailing reminders to motorists to renew their license plate stickers.

You see, in previous years the state would send out reminder notices (like most states do, I suspect) that it is time to renew your plates. In IL, there is a $20 fine if you fail to renew within 30 days of expiration. Alcohol at work it _strictly_ forbidden in the policy manual at work, which sucks on the one hand but it applies to those using our service as well so it kind of balances out most days.

Plus I am really relying on Acetaminophen as a prescription tells me to avoid NSAIDS and mixing that with alcohol is a spectacularly not good idea.

Discovered that last summer as I was helping my brother move apartments in St. Louis - and the easiest way to get there from here includes a long stretch through The Land of Lincoln. On the way we came across numerous orange barrels and each had a sign _just_ before it announcing a 10 mph drop in the speed limit along with a sign saying ot was camera enforced.

Which of course causes slamming on breaks and traffic snarls as well, which I assume is a feature as well for IL's Hyway commission.

601 Bete: did you check w/ your pharmacist?

technically acetaminophen is a NASID too...

"Acetaminophen (a seet" a min' oh fen), which is known as paracetamol
in Europe, is an aminophenol that is believed to act centrally as an
analgesic and antipyretic agent. While technically a nonsteroidal
antiinflammatory drug (NSAID), acetaminophen unlike typical NSAIDs
(ibuprofen, naproxen, indomethacin) has only minor effects on tissue
cyclooxygenase activity (Cox-1 and Cox-2) and appears to produce
analgesia by increasing pain thresholds, perhaps through inhibition of
the nitric oxide pathway which is activated by many pain
neurotransmitter receptors. Acetaminophen has lower antiinflammatory
activity than aspirin or typical NSAIDs. "

603 Bete: did you check w/ your pharmacist?
Posted by: redc1c4 at February 26, 2016 03:02 AM (Nf7bW)

Yep. I got my prescription from Wally World and have had 4 different pharmacists now- the first said nothing about "do not take with", the second said "Don't take with Aspirin" (as I was buying a 500 ct bottle at the same time), the third offered nothing new and the 4th said all the traditional NSADIS (Asprin, Ibuprofen, etc) were right out but I could use Acetaminophen.

Which is wonderful as I've gone through an almost 500 ct bottle of Ibuprofen while on this prescription.

So my confidence in the consistency at Wally is near my confidence that the GoPe will stick to its "No judicial hearing before the election" pledge right now.

For my part, everything was counted properly.

I chaired a precinct and only those with photo ID voted. I counted and re-counted the vote in front of witnesses.

It was chaotic at the begining, but settled down soon enough.

For my part, it was actually quite enjoyable and I got a change to chat with others who don't normally get involved in politics.

690 "donktards pandering and the most stupid change to the Il Constitution
will guarantee that Il will be the first State to declare bankruptcy." Tim

The best, or maybe only way to change things is to show public unions are fraudulent quid quo pro operations, and they give unfair advantages to for their union dues. As obvious as that is, they have run the state for so long it will take something extreme to release us from the Chicago mob.

Blago went to prison, then Quinn got in winning three or four counties, but only needs Cook. Now we got Rauner who seems to be standing up to the Democrats that still dominates the legislature. But a deal made with the unions to reduce their freebies was fought in court and Illinois lost. So all those golden entitlements that went underfunded for decades are supposed to be paid out.

Now Chicago wants some bailouts from the state as well. Jesse Jackson's son is out of the big house and in the half way house, but all the "Jesse hires" are still sucking in their checks. If the economy (finally) turns after so much easy money manipulation, we are in a worse position than most of the country. Worst credit rating in the country.

He has a job, Fenelon, one he is paid -- and pretty damn well -- to do. That takes priority over campaigning. It would, in fact, look better to the thinking voters if he did that.

Rafael is a bit Dondi-esque about this. He wasn't in the room when the Senate voted on Loretta Lynch, was elsewhere when they voted for Choom Boy's Iranian nuke deal. In essence, that was two "yea" votes for the Choom Gang.

If you can't do your job, you don't deserve a promotion. Even if you're the Canado-Cuban Great Hope.

694 Good Morning Morons. Today is Friday, February 26, 2016. Today will be cut short because I have a doctor's appointment early this morning. Also, I am going to do something a little different with the "day in history" thing. I am going to use the same one from last year and you will see why.

On this day in 1987 the Tower Commission "rebuked" RR over the Iran-Contra deal. Compare Iran-Contra to the general lawlessness of the current administration. Now we have an administration where the major lieutenants are using the IRS as a political weapon, lying to congress, ignoring court orders, giving weapons to Mexican drug dealers which they use to shoot and kill border patrol agents and al infinitem. The list of felonies and lawbreaking is so large it would take too long to list them. So what is the difference? A Republican President with a Democrat Congress vs A Democrat President with a Republican Congress.

696 A special counsel accuses the IG office of a lax investigation into the VA. She even went so far as to say the IG went after the whistleblowers that ratted them out in the first place. Having worked in QA for a few years (expected rotation for senior people) I can tell you that is a VERY serious allegation. It can even result in criminal charges in some cases. But the other thing about this charge is that, if born out, it would be indicative of heavy pressure from above to cover up VA malfeasance. If I were doing the investigation into this that is exactly the string I would be pulling. It would probably be a waste of time though, since impeachment is off the table, even for sub-lieutenants.

After review of the us video (bet they didn't know the camera was there) the police found that not only was there no attack by whites and no racial slurs by whites, but the blacks were actually the aggressors who attacked the whites. There is no word on racial slurs by the blacks because probably the camera had no sound, but I'll bet there were plenty. Incredibly the blacks have been charged with a misdemeanor for making a false police report (this would have been a felony in SC) and two black girls were charged with misdemeanor assault. 731 f this continues I may have to just DC the daily news links. My guess is that less than half the Morons here actually read them anyway. In fact, my guess is at least 25% of the audience here don't read any comments, they just post and move on. When I can't keep up with the comments on some of these threads as fast as I read there have to be a LOT of people who do nothing but post.

750 Attorney General Loretta Lynch reiterated, while testifying before a House panel Wednesday, that it is against the law for President Obama to transfer detainees from the Guantanamo Bay prison to U.S. soil.
__________________________

It's also against the law (and the constitution) for Obama to issue executive order amnesties to millions of illegal aliens (as both Obama himself admitted, and two federal courts have since confirmed), yet Loretta went in front of the senate and testified during her AG confirmation hearings that she had no problem with Obama's EO's.

And yet those assholes still went ahead and voted to confirm Lynch as the nation's top law enforcement officer.

And they still can't understand why American voters are so pissed off.

767 "Thing about Latinas, or at least the Tex-Mex ladies with whom I've had some close acquaintance, is this:

There are no other women in the world who will, after a heated argument:

1) Throw all your clothes on the front lawn

2) Tear up every picture of you she can find

3) Trash you to every person who's ever heard of you

4) Slash your tires and key your car

5) And still have dinner waiting for you on the table when you get home.

The word 'mercurial' comes to mind, but it doesn't quite encompass the fullness of the phenomenon.

I've had two Tex-Mex girlfriends, and they were wonderful and terrifying, and I'm grateful to have known them and survived.

The casual hypocrisy on both the Democrat and GOP sides and the total disregard for the country is totes infuriating. Nixon talking about using the IRS to go after his political opponents was one of the items on the articles of impeachment that Hillary Clinton helped draw up.

Since Obama has now established that setting the IRS loose on your political opponents is perfectly OK, it will be fun to see what President Trump does with this power.

Or we could start firing people at the IRS and sending the worst ones to prison for obeying illegal orders.

The real reason the left is so anti gun is that those are all people who know that if they had guns they would go around shooting people. They project their own poor impulse control onto everyone around them. Once you realize that - they become understandable. The next time a leftist starts in on gun control around you agree with him that he shouldn't have a gun, and ask him if he has considered seeing a psychiatrist for that problem. Be very concerned when you do so.
