I don't know how many of you know who Monty Williams is, but if you need to be awed by a man's words, please watch this video:
http://deadspin.com/monty-williams-calls-for-forgiveness-in-powerful-speech-1760037969 Monty Williams is an assistant coach for the Oklahoma City Thunder (known in this household as "Seattle Supersonics, Southern Division, but that's a whole nuther conversation). His wife was killed in a car accident a couple of weeks ago by a young gal who was going in excess of 90 MPH (she was also killed). This clip is seven minutes of Monty's eulogy at her funeral. It is absolutely amazing. There's a ton of absolute crap we see and hear every day and the future does not look rosy, at all. But I still want to remember that there are people like Monty Williams. Despite having elected a black president twice the US is still a horribly racist country.
The only thing that electing Barky proved was that this nation was a bunch of suicidal douchebags bent on making sure that the instrument of that societal suicide was one of the dumbest people ever to enter the political arena. As to the generally stupid idea that America is so racist, the truth was always in the population flow numbers and, more importantly, the numbers who wanted to move. Almost no American blacks have left and blacks the world over are dying to come to America, and have been doing so in droves. That tells you all you need to know about how "racist" America is. With more than 50 black nations in the world, almost everyone in almost every one of those black run nations wants to come to America and pretty much no American blacks have any interest in moving to any of those black-run nations. That settles that. The election of Barky is nothing to be proud of. It is an embarrassment of epic proportions that will have us as the butt of jokes for millenia and a cautionary tale for the ages. Quote numero dos, Scary movies scary the hell out of me. The music tells me it is time to be scared because something scary is going to happen, and voila, I'm terrified.
After the scary thing happens then I'm ready to fight. So when I was twelve, watching Twilight Zone, home alone, and the scary music started, I went and got my dad's shotgun, and loaded it. I never shot the TV, but I hid in the closet a couple of times until the scary thing was over. Posted by: Randolph the Unwilling at February 22, 2016 11:02 PM (2WTOn) 40

whilst the score shrieks at you as if to say "hey, goober, this is a scary thing!" then I have to say I feel some pity for you.
That's a bit silly. Music hits very deep parts of our personalities and can evoke serious emotions (even as we know that it's just music). Certain "scary" music can make people feel anxious even without anything else. The movie just adds to that, which isn't hard to do and isn't all that tough to understand. Gerald, I don't know if that's necessarily a bad thing about Amazon. If people could post negative reviews unchallenged, you know the SJWs would be out in force badmouthing every.single.thing made by any corp led by a conservative CEO, anywhere.
Also, check out the reviews at Amazon for Larry Correia's latest book; 4.5 stars. Can't help but wonder if Amazon is doing a decent job keeping the GamerGaters from posting a lot of hateful junk there as well. Posted by: qdpsteve at February 22, 2016 11:18 PM (ntObR) 113
And Twitchy used to get sidebarred here all the time. I think not that long after it was sold to Salem that tapered off. I'm sure Salem didn't do anything to gut and ruin that site now did they? No no of course that couldn't be the case.

So, um, about this whole business of the Marines pre-positioning heavy gear in Norway: classic Sov doctrine was that the _very first_ elements to move would be Spetznaz deep infiltration teams specifically tasked to go blow the crap out of places like ammo dumps.
The Russians haven't ditched that concept. They've no doubt strengthened it, since they no longer have the heavy forward-deployed formations such as Group of Soviet Forces Germany to rapidly punch through into NATO rear areas. It was learned after the Cold War when the Red intelligence archives briefly opened that the Soviets had successfully spied out a whole bunch of ostensibly secret locations of stuff. And would have wreaked havoc on them if the balloon had gone up. Now, all those lessons have been forgotten. And, with Europe reeling from its huge influx of "newcomers", having Ivan's special ops teams discreetly insert themselves amidst the confusion has become a lot easier. I will say that when it comes to Amazon feedback, I tend to look at the numbers vs individual reviews. Any company can gin up some positive buzz by giving away some free items and coupons and what not, but when something has over 1k reviews and over 75% are 5, 4, or 3-star, that gets my attention; that's an awful lot of people to bribe. :-) Posted by: qdpsteve at February 22, 2016 11:24 PM (ntObR) 137

The Political Hat, I did not catch if you answered before, but are you voting tomorrow? I'm curious to hear what's it's like in a caucus state.
Posted by: logprof at February 22, 2016 11:15 PM (XhuX0) Last time we'd assemble by precinct. Anyone who wanted to say something for a candidate could. We'd vote on a pre-printed ballot. Collect the ballots and the ballots would be counted in the precinct meeting openly with multiple people signing off on the vote total. We'd then vote for delegates to the county GOP convention. Then multiple people would walkt the sealed ballot envelope to the main desk at that particular caucus location and drop it off. It's slightly different this year. Now they will let peole come and go over a three hour period to vote in the caucus (though you have to be there at the specified time to select delegates). Also, the state GOP is so incompetent that they've outsourced the reporting of results exclusively to the AP. They will be photographing handwritten tally sheets and sending them to the AP (as well as county and state parties who then allegedly will tabulate separetly). It will likely be a clusterfuck because the state party is pennyless and incompetent. Posted by: The Political Hat at February 22, 2016 11:27 PM (vBeA5) 149

I have my water once more. Well service company came out today about 11:30 A.M. Guys insisted on doing due diligence by testing the motor controller that I had already determined to be OK. Subbed in a new one, pump didn't start, so out of the well it came. Replaced the 120 volt motor with a 240 volt one, which meant I had to run a new wire to the box. Luckily, there was an unused 240 volt line for an electric range close at hand, so I snagged that and gave them the juice to run the new pump. New motor should be more efficient, and use fewer kWh. Guys were done and gone inside of two hours. I was well pleased.

I had a friend who married a Russian bride. She was a lot younger than him, and quite hot; a medical student at the time. I only met her once. She had quite an effect on him. he became a very sharp dresser, in the Euro style, and downright elegant in appearance. They had a son together. She went back to Moscow, apparently with his blessing, to continue her education, because Canadian med schools would not give her credit for her Russian training. Pretty much a closed shop they are.
My friend died suddenly of natural causes at his remote home on the B.C. coast. Many of us wondered if there was foul play involved, but circumstances ruled it out. All things considered, he did OK out of the deal, I guess. He, at least, never regarded himself as a victim, so i guess that counts for something. Good news is my BIL may have sold his house in 1 day. Bad news he wants to live in my guesthouse with his 3 kids 4 dogs 5 cats and rabbits. I feel mean but I don't want his pets here. I just put in new lawn etc. my house has no fence. I don't want to listen to my nieces and nephew every day either. My son is an adult. My BIL takes advantage. We will probably have to move him too. Oh well, my husband tells me this now and then says I'm sleeping. He is going to buy a house in MO. the next thing he is going to want is us to buy the lots next door to the house he wants so no one can move next to him. Deactivated Twitter, but downloaded my archive beforehand. Had to laugh at two of my earliest offerings -- News reports of a fiery collision between a Fisker #Karma and a Chevy #Volt are inaccurate - they both were on fire BEFORE they collided. One thing you can credit to the internal combustion engine: its combustion occurs internally. Unlike the Fisker #Karma and the Chevy #Volt. Twitter can baste itself in the oleaginous drippings of the zaftig #SJWs and their omega males. From one of these will be chosen "Xe Who Must Turn Out The Lights". And, BTW, I'll take a moment to do a shout-out to Ira. I've been "cthulhu" from dial-up modems to wi-fi; from the early 80s to last May. I've had a consistent voice as "cthulhu" across systems and platforms. Disney knew me as "cthulhu" to email me high scores from Buzz Lightyear, and semiconductor equipment manufacturers knew me as "cthulhu" if they needed expedited shipments. I was "cthulhu" on BBSs and on blogs....and nothing can change that.
But now I'm only "cthulhu" where I choose to be. I have several financial logins -- and none of them are "cthulhu" now. I have several emails, and it is more likely that I'll sign into things I don't fully trust as ix42987 than "cthulhu". And I'm ahead of the curve. The belief that common courtesy and basic security is sufficient in the modern era is eroding quickly. And I'd have to say that having my email and financial privacy raped by Ira was a timely warning. Posted by: cthulhu at February 23, 2016 02:34 AM (EzgxV) 598

Posted by: rickl at February 23, 2016 02:05 AM (sdi6R) It wasn't so much the story that some people wondered about but whether his girlfriend - who had just started posting - was real. There were a few comments one night on an ONT wondering about whether she was real and that was really what did it. SoS said that she was embarrassed about that and, while she posted for a little while longer it just tapered off pretty quickly and they both disappeared. It was awkward though none of it was done maliciously. Just people wondering aloud ... as can easily happen on blogs. But there was really no nastiness involved. Shit happens. And I stopped wearing underwear years ago.
Try wearing underwear while hot, sweaty and dirty and muddy while trying to crawl, run through same. Mine always got tangled and would restrict movement. I got scared that one day this might be cause for me to be killed. So I stopped wearing them. Now, I can't do it. I've tried now that I'm in less of a hazardous environment but I am too uncomfortable. I also sleep with a light on. Always. I'm sure it's all psychological but these days you can't trust that what you say will not be held against you so I won't go to a therapist as long as I'm functioning okay. But when it was turned into an object lesson of lax cybersecurity at well-known companies, it made me into a much more bitter, paranoid, and insecure person -- even if this more strongly comports with today's reality (i.e. I'd have to be delusional to be less bitter, paranoid, or insecure). Welcome to my world. And now you know why I chose my current nic rather than using one that I use most everywhere else. It truly expressed my current feelings. It just hit the spot. And it reminds me (as if I need that) of how ugly and nasty the current POS in the White House truly is. I cannot wait for jan 2017. It will be such a relief. For all their faults, I don't believe any of the current possibilities for President will be as destructive and as willfully dangerous as the current POS. Yes even Hillary. She will be dangerous but in ways that can be countered. Obama has ties we do not know and masters we do not know. We know Hillary's very well and thus can counteract them. She's also less of an anti-American. Posted by: Bitter Clinger and All That at February 23, 2016 02:54 AM (Xo1Rt) 609

Whats the point when I come into a thread with almost 600 comments on it and the EMT is in my prime time customer calls window and I don't have the time to even try to keep up. I remember Joffen, SoS's stories were legend, and funny as hell. I've been riding my nic for a long time, probably since the early 90's, on BBS's in Atlanta was the first time I remember using it, around the same time frame or so on USENET around the time just before Clinton got elected when I used to go to alt.binaries.clinton.whitewater. Posted by: Bitter Clinger and All That at February 23, 2016 02:45 AM (Xo1Rt) Go find an old priest and tell him you need some spiritual direction in the confessional. A lot of those old guys are tough enough and have heard enough to know how to take it, what to say about it, and how to get you to move off the schneid. If one doesn't work, find another. Nobody will ever hear a word you say, and you get the benefit of a prayer or two in your honor. There isn't much a therapist can help you with that a priest can't also do, much cheaper, usually faster and completely confidentially. Posted by: tcn in AK at February 23, 2016 03:29 AM (+YMhA) 618

Favorite (and very common) reaction: *pause* while face works around a bit, *half smile*, "yes, it is." It's really quite striking, especially when someone starts off with "resting bitch face". You don't get the same reaction with "Hello" or "Good day" or "howdy".....but "beautiful day!!!" somehow jars them into thinking about it....and that moment when they clue into the beauty of their surroundings is something to behold. Since you mentioned National Treasure ... it's a fun film to watch but the hysterical part is that the first clue that Nic Cage's great-great whatever grandfather was given was "the secret lies with charlotte", which is the ship he finds in the beginning of the movie. But then there is supposed to be some story of one clue leading to another and to another (which happens during the movie) but the whole family's investigations up to Nic Cage involved nothing but striking out on the original clue and never having any idea who or what Charlotte was. So the family was never following anything ... for what was, say, 5 generations of not being able to solve a single clue, yet continuing .... to do who knows what. There are plot holes and there are plot holes. Of course, if it weren't for the blonde chick there really wouldn't be much reason to watch it, at all. I also liked the part where Nic Cage explains that whatshisface could find him so quickly because he has tons of money and high-powered shit ... meanwhile the guy's just searching basic terms on the internet. Shit, he should have been in his pajamas! Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at February 23, 2016 03:34 AM (zc3Db) 620

There's this magazine called "Chronicle of the Horse." It's basically horse show gossip. You know what kind of people read Chronicle of the Horse? People who WANT to be in the rich people English horse show scene. Not always people who ARE in the English horse show scene. There are mostly people part of the way in, but probably lacking the scratch to be Georgiana Bloomberg (Mike's daughter) or Jessica Springsteen (Bruce's daughter). Online version of magazine has message boards; one discussion forum is often political. WTF? These people with money, who want more money, are CRAZY LIBERALS. They celebrated Scalia's death. They think JEF is a god. They think Rethuglicans are subhuman. They have ZERO knowledge of history, basic civics, and are so jaw-droppingly unselfaware that even I got a little scared for the future of the country. Then I realized something. They are virtually all women. OMG, women really are stupid. I am so ashamed. My apologies for my gender. Unbelievable; when students at a Nebraska university were asked to vote on what restaurant they wanted at the student union they voted overwhelmingly for a Chick-Filet. But whoa; that offended a group called the Queer Straight Alliance because Chick Filet is owned by a very religious guy. Citing "discriminatory" practices another vote was held w/o Chick Filet in the pool to vote on. Never mind that they gave zero evidence that Chick Filet has ever discriminated against anyone, and there has been no publicized cases. What this amounted to is the administration bowing to a militant Gaystapo group on campus and discriminating against a lawful company simply because a bunch of asshole homonazis don't like anyone who has religion. Every college in the country should be made a private school with zero government funding. And no Fox, this was not "another chicken flap" on campus unless you call it a chickenshit admin bowing to a bunch homos.

Lawyers for Bushmaster Arms who are being sued over the gun that was used by the crazies to shoot all those kids in CT have presented a motion in court to have the suit dismissed based on a federal law (passed during a Republican Congress) which shields gun makers from these kinds of civil suits. The STUPID judge said she would "think about it" and issue a ruling in two months. What in the Hell is there to think about? Liberal Fascist State; Liberal Fascist judge. And I hope Bushmaster goes after this group of anti-gun loons for court costs after they lose. I'm sorry their kids were killed, but the gun did not grow legs and go into the school and shoot people on its own.

Charlotte has now joined the list of major cities that have descended into insanity to satisfy the growing actions of the radical Gaystapo. They have passed an ordinance that allows people to use whatever bathroom gender they identify as. The governor has told them not to do this because it is a threat to public safety but they did it anyway.
The next step will be for the General Assembly to issue a LAW prohibiting this insanity. So any ladies visiting Charlotte, better make sure you use the bathroom before going there until this crap is fixed, or better yet, boycott Charlotte until it is fixed and go somewhere else. I recommend Spartanburg, SC which is a nice town not much further down the road. In an interview with the Financial Times published Tuesday, Gates said a court order requiring Apple to help the FBI access a work phone belonging to gunman Syed Farook was a specific case where the government is asking for access to information. They are not asking for some general thing, they are asking for a particular case. Gates went on to compare the FBIs request to accessing bank and telephone records. However, he added that the government must be subject to rules about when it can access such information. Posted by: Nevergiveup at February 23, 2016 07:52 AM (mw8Dm) 774

Immigration/deportation courts have a backlog of 474,000 cases and it is
taking as long as 5 years to process cases. Of course the immigration people say they need more money, as that is always the government solution. I say the problem isn't money. The problem is open borders, a mass of regulations and rules, that tie up the cases making sure that illegals can stay here longer and longer. Dictator Jean solution: push these immigration courts to our consulates overseas. You can argue about from home, if we were wrong we'll fly you back. Expulsion first, lawyers later. Am not certain simply quitting Twitter is the way to go. Was it here in the Comments that a Moron suggested an Alinsky move against Twitter? Create multiple accounts and go heavy on the Tweets. Make their Ministry-of-Truth work double and triple over-time to deal with all the banning they'd have to implement. I'm not telling you not to leave, just suggesting you trash the place before you go. It's the sjw way. Give them a taste of their own medicine.

Deleted the timeline on my art Twitter and left a single image of Tyrion Lannister and his (now infamous) quote about what cutting out a man's tongue tells the world. Of course, the typical SJWs' answer would be the single time they're honest: they "fear" anything outside their echo chambers...excuse me, they're called "safe spaces" now. Of course, the reason they fear it isn't because it's "harmful"; they fear other people thinking the one making them "uncomfortable" might have a point. My other one I haven't bothered with since the timeline is protected. Twatter can't make money off that one, anyway.
