The story said something about how the internationals objected, because he hadn't been given access to his "home" country's consulate, or something like that. Even though he had been an illegal, here in the U.S. for most of his life.

Apparently, Canada was (but is not now) one of the few countries to grant automatic citizenship to the children of foreigners born on their soil. The US and MAYBE one or two other countries do this. When Cruz found out, he renounced any claim he might have to Canadian citizenship that he would have had no reason to even know about (since neither he nor his parents took any active steps to make him a Canadian citizen).
I personally believe he did not know as he never gained anything from it or used it (to get a Canadian passport for instance) AND, given his Presidential ambitions, would have had reason to renounce it far sooner had he known.

I don't know if I have/had dual citizenship with Germany. I was born there 40(ish) years afo to American citizens and was told as a toung adult that I might have dual-citizenship. It all depends on Germany's laws and I haven't looked into it (yes, it would certainly behoove a person thinking of running for President to check into that, althoigh one of the few decent things about R candidates is that they usually *don't* spend their entire early lives planning on being President).

I don't feel like searching for the case but the guy had been living and committing crimes in the States for quite a while (like 10 years; I don't know if as an illegal alien or not) but the last ditch effort with Canadian leftists flying down (I remember one union leader shit-head in particular being involved) didn't work. I believe not. My No. 1 Son was born in Germany, we registered his birth with the US State Department, and he has always been only a US citizen.
Germans don't give citizenship just for being born there. There are 3rd generation Turks whose grandparents came as guest workers in the 1960s who aren't German.
Germans are about the blood. If your family was a "Volga German" and emigrated to Russia in the 1800s, you have the right to citizenship if you've retained any connection to the German culture.

Bush ran in 2004 after signing the Patriot Act. McCain and Romney said nothing in favor of eliminating it. (And, par for the course, Obama said a few things about it previously but has been all too happy to enjoy the power of his position since 1/20/09.) As I've said, Trump bubbles with enthusiasm about shutting down the Internet and spying on people. Christie, Jeb, and Rubio are statist shits who support this stuff. Carson does too but I give him a pass because I really don't think he understands any of this. Cruz is trying to court some libertarianish voters but I don't have any faith that he won't be a vigorous supporter of the CIA, NSA, and FBI once in power (not to mention the EPA and BLM, so good luck ranchers).
I can't imagine anyone voting for anything like that. Virtually everything I've read about this subject was conducted in secret by courts we aren't aware of and have no accountability due to their secrecy.

In the course of things, we will have - must have - one sovereign world-state. Until then, it's "wars and rumors of wars," among opposing "sovereign" entities.
When I was young and dumb, I saw Alaska's and Hawaii's stars added to the flag, and I thought, wow, others could join in our Constitutional government, too! I imagined a possible North American union (I think I picked that up from some comic book). Back when I thought better of both Canada and Mexico.
WW2 ended less than a decade before I was born, and was still picking up the pieces when I was young. I saw Europe form a Union, and I hoped it would be a real "United Europe" like the USA is, bringing peace after hundreds of years of European war.
Even the African Union seemed positive as a development. All of these, in theory, seemed good.
I did not view all unions of states as positive, of course - the USSR in particular. All I ever needed to see was the bodies hanging on the fence between the Germanys to know that the USSR was a prison.
Eventually, I learned that the United Nations was more the enemy of free people than a route to world unity.
Throughout, though, I pledged allegiance exclusively to the flag of the United States of America.
What the Internationalists and New World Orderers want is to eliminate national sovereignty and impose a world union that is more USSR than USA. A godless order of rule by men, in violation of everything our Constitution and ideas of Rights stand for.
As such, we must do everything possible to resist them. Everything.
I still believe a world union is inevitable. Perhaps in a thousand years or two, the rest of the world can learn to have government the way the United States has - or, had, and is forgetting to preserve. Then we might begin to evolve to a worthy world union. Only then.
How many nations will fall and rise, how many wars will be fought, before that? God only knows. We can only endeavor to preserve what we've been given.
In the immediate perspective, one thing seems clear to me: There is only one candidate in the running for President this year who has argued for the sovereignty of the Republic and defended the Constitution against our enemies. He may be flawed and naive in some ways, but there is no other Constitutionalist running. And it's not the "Make America Grate Again" guy.

When Britain signed off on turning Hong Kong over to the Commies-

Canada, or maybe it was specifically Toronto, made it extremely easy to come aboard.
In any event, most of the ex-Hong Kongers wound up in Toronto.

I've been having a lot of trouble commenting. Maet helped so I can post from my phone about 70% of the time. I can't post from my laptop.
I hate typing on the phone, but at least I now have an Android phone. Typing so much on my old iPhone would have been a nightmare.

Black (African? ) people's skin gets darker too, at least on the face. Happened to both parents, who were relatively light skinned (compared to most of their countrymen.) Must be cumulative sun exposure because their bodies were/are still light skinned.
Generally the rest of our bodies are lighter than our faces but age exacerbates the difference.

I would love to hear an old-style composer (not in the vein of Glass or Britten) do an opera or orchestral piece on the 1812 war.
The whole thing winds up to a crescendo, a peaceful resolution movement to signify the treaty of Ghent, followed by the intersection of British marching music, bombasitc orchestration slowly being eclipsed by a finishing piece that is a tribute to Yankee Doodle and Johnny Horton's Battle of New Orleans.

His instinct seems to be to be being lured into embracing what conservatives are against, assuming he's didn't start out sympathetic to those things in the first place. He is completely out of touch with the base and has an odd attractions to NY senators.
I am not idealistic about politicians and politics (I believe that, generally, politics attracts the worst kind of people and incentivizes bad behaviour), but AFAIC, those two sins of Rubio's are politically unforgivable and I will not support him in the primaries.

This is where I am too. A very central argument Rubio uses in his stump and debates (which is basically paragraphs of his stump), is electability as an argument unto itself. Hillary doesn't want to face me. I'll beat Hillary. Using that as a central argument in a primary before anyone voted (now we have Iowa that has voted) is trying to shortcut the difficult and sometimes primary process. It's also a tell that Rubio is going to pivot hard to the center as soon as he can. This is the most conservative Rubio you are going to get, right now, and it's not enough for me anymore.
Above that, it's all based on him polling a point or 2 better than Cruz vs Hillary. I'm not having it. Cruz needs to take this non-argument head on tonight in the debate, and I bet he does. His campaign has been run really well. They are well aware this is going to be a slog for them and they will have to take fire from all directions if they are going to come out on the other side.

My take on it: whether he knew about it or not, Cruz did not take advantage of his birthright Canadian citizenship. Didn't vote, didn't join the Canadian Forces, didn't get a passport. Meanwhile, as per established U.S. law, had automatic U.S. citizenship by virtue of being born to an American mother.Which citizenship he has exercised. And he has since legally renounced his Canadian citizenship. Ergo, no divided loyalties, either in theory or in practice, which certainly meets the intent of the "natural-born citizen" clause for Presidential eligibility.

Just going from memory, not many. The Latin American players I know of are European extraction--Manu Ginobili, Tiago Splitter etc.
Ginobili is out for a month because he got kneed in the balls the other night. He had surgery on his testicle. I'm not a dude, but that sounds extremely to me

Mine started turning silver when I was sixteen. I fought it for years until the ratio of silver to red whipped me but good. Now my hair is all silver and I am still way on the south side of 50 (although I have been pulling 40 on a hand cart for several years :-P)

The article does read like the campaign flyer it is, for the "amazing" Ted Cruz. It says Abbott "agreed", seemingly with Cruz as the initiator. I think Abbott agreed with Gov. Perry, seems more likely. Then they assigned Cruz. That doesn't take away from the work Cruz did, but he no doubt had counsel at every step. But Cruz was doing his job, not initiating the fight for sovereignty on his own.
But it's a good story, to help counter his TPP squishiness. Even with his high heels, Rubio doesn't stand knee high to Cruz. Trump is still stronger on trade and borders, and has executive experience and motivational abilities ... but I wish he had more of Cruz's legal and constitutional strength.
