I do it all the time. You begin to type, it suggests words. Then, based on what you picked it suggests the next word. It takes some practice, but I think it's almost as fast as traditional full size keyboard.

At home, for a while, I only had the cell. The bluetooth keyboard, scrunchy and fallible as it was, was a major lifesaver.
And the scrunchy keyboard made it seem positively liberating when I moved up to this moderate-size keyboard on the tablet.

We needed 10.65 million new jobs, just to tread water. Supposedly over 8 million jobs were lost since the "Great Recession" hit. So looks like 18.65 million jobs would've been needed to even get back to where we were, and SCOAMF is sitting about 4.65 million jobs short (and this isn't even considering full/part time jobs).

I found that out in the military... there is always a reg that says you can, and a reg that says you can't... so you DON"T ASK.... you do it, and cite the reg that says you can after the fact.

I suffer from the kind of migraines that prevent me from driving because my vision is impaired and silly me, I refuse to kill someone with my car just to get into work.
So, my boss was giving me his sad frowny face talk about my illness--for which I had a disability letter. So, I said, sure, let's talk and then I proceeded to talk, it went something like this:
"Yes, I know I worked from home two days last week because of a migraine, but, you know what I did not do?"
Boss---questioning look on face. "Nooo?"
"I did not call in drunk on Monday and hungover on Thursday and Friday like Bill did."
Next question to my boss, "You know how no one ever wants me to leave their project because I have the skill sets of 5 different job titles and do the work of at least 5 people?
Boss, "Yes, Sherry."
Me, "How many people is it now that refuse to work on projects will Bill, is it 20 or25, I forget. How many people have quit or taken retirement rather than work with Bill, by my count, it's 10. How many projects has been been thrown off of--5 right?"
By this point Boss is sitting there in shock.
I then tell him, "Once you get Bill all fixed up on being a drunk and a complete jerk who makes people cry, then we can talk about my disability." I got up and left the room.

The best part of streaming versus cable is that your streaming provider knows exactly what the audience is watching and wants to watch. No neilson bullshit numbers. I predict when streaming providers negotiate in the future, with actual numbers, for what they have to pay for gay (so to speak) and they know people actually don't want to watch the gay advocacy and bashing of religion, it will change the content providers point of view and they'll have to back off. Or take a major cut in pay.

One thing that's always pissed me off? They only count shows being watched. Not dvr'ed. I may like and watch 3 shows that come on at the same time, but only one gets counted. And then two get cancelled because of low ratings, even though I watched every episode.

Sadly, PP has been lobbying behind the scenes to get Hollywood to include more abortion storylines, and to be sure they do so in a way that is pro-abortion. Already done in "Scandal" in December, where the main character has an abortion (without previously revealing she was pregnant) while "Silent Night" plays in the background. Wish I was making this up.

Actually they do take into account DVR'd or time shifted viewing. And they do know which DVR shows you watch later. So, it's definitely not like it used to be.

I am not advocating that anyone, anywhere, anytime, do what I did. My boss had also worked with Bill one other place and was not enjoying the experience of being his supervisor. I have a horrible temper and I hardly ever let it out to play because I know the damage it can do. But, on that day, at that time, I had had it up to there with being told my migraines were a problem despite me making every effort to see that my projects never suffered. Migraines are a covered ADA disability and I was compliant on everything to do with that. I lasted another 18-20 months after that, but, I was busy lining up my ducks to retire on my terms.

The best part of streaming versus cable is that your streaming provider knows exactly what the audience is watching and wants to watch. No neilson bullshit numbers. I predict when streaming providers negotiate in the future, with actual numbers, for what they have to pay for gay (so to speak) and they know people actually don't want to watch the gay advocacy and bashing of religion, it will change the content providers point of view and they'll have to back off. Or take a major cut in pay.

I've been wrestling with this dilemma myself. On my 4th CEO in 7 years and this one is a beauty. As in clueless.
7 months and I've about had my fill of his attitude. I haven't completely made the mental break yet because aside from him I like most of the job and we've got it rolling now and I'd hate to let him take all the credit but I am soooo tempted.

Always thought it was funny that in both the Tina Fey and Amy Poehler sitcoms that the voice of reason, the mentor to whom both feminist comedians went to for advice/get them out of a problem their Lefty view got them into was the conservative. Alec Baldwin as Jack Donoughey was hilarious, and more often than not, right.

Well, bear in mind that the Irish word for the city, "Gallaimh", means "place where tourists are grabbed by the ankles and shaken until all their money falls out." (Yes, Irish is a remarkably compact language.)
Pubs. Well, I used to go to the Skeffington Arms on Eyre Square. Start there and go down Shop Street (it's a pedestrian street). At the bottom of Shop Street are Taafe's, The King's Head, and Freeney's. I used to buy all my fishing tackle at Freeneys. (Yes, it's a pub abd fishing tackle shop.) Past Freeney's, down High Street, there are a couple of shops where you can buy Irish sweaters, if you're into that sort of thing. Just wander around the streets in that area and drop in to wherever looks interesting.
Backing up to Shop Street, if you look about, you'll see the spire of St Nicholas' Cathedral. There's usually a market there every day selling knick-knacks, street food. The Cathedral itself is worth a visit. Cromwell himself defaced the statues when he went through in 1643, or thereabouts.

From a strictly intra-Corps viewpoint, F-35 would be adequate if it were available, have funding, and out-perform the Harrier. That's a considerably lower bar than replacing the F-18 and F-16 and A-10 (and I forget what else).
Considering the extremely limited applicability of the Harrier, it's possible that with considerable further development, the F-35 would make a valid replacement.
At this price, so would trained dragons. Marines could prolly do that.

The entire Harrier CONOPS from the beginning was "it's the jet you can forward-deploy".
And there were arguments for that in the context of its Cold War roots. Being able to do impromptu dispersal was important given that Group Of Soviet Forces Germany were going to nuke or gas anything that even looked like a NATO airfield. Okay then, have the jet put down in a meadow to refuel and rearm.
But in today's world it looks less workable. Note that a bunch of raggedy-assed insurgents in man-jammies managed to destroy essentially _an entire wing_ of USMC Harriers at Camp Bastion, blasting them as they sat in their forward-deployed revetments. A few thousand bucks of enemy effort did many hundreds of millions of dollars in damage.

Nah, historically he wasn't any worse than the others. He just had a much better army and was a better general. Cromwell changed how militaries worked, and his model for the army was what England adapted from that point on because it was so effective.
It was a professional army rather than knights and then rabble with pitchforks. The troops were taught discipline and respect for their job, a sense of honor and importance. The knights were not allowed to just trample the infantry to get to glory. It was incredibly effective against old style militaries.

I would assume it's more the "greener pastures" thing. He needed this place, until he didn't.

Well, Shannon puts you in Co. Clare, so previous remarks about the Burren apply.
Doolin's a good place for traditional Irish music. This takes you away from Bunratty Castle, which everyone wants to visit - it's *very* touristy. There's a folk park there which might be worth a visit.
Lahinch has a nice beach, if the weather is good. Don't miss the memorial to "The Travelin' Trollop", a B-24 that crashed at Lahinch during WWII. The Cliffs of Mohir are just up the road from there.

I said one thing and you heard another.
I don't want us to cut the defense budget by half while continuing to do business the same way we do now. That would gut the military.
What I do want is the ability for the executive branch to reorganize and reinvent the military from the ground up. I want to be able to establish bases, manpower levels, weapon systems and everything else based on what makes the U.S. the most powerful force on earth, instead of what congressman sits on what committee.
Some people are convinced that super carriers need to cost 4 billion and a decent fighter is 200 million a copy. I'm not one of those.
I would start from scratch and do things right.

Oooh. I shall go back in the thread to see what I missed about the Burren.
One magical day I made friends with a dog and we hiked up a hill there. Cow paths and sheep pens made from stone lower down, then diminishing.
Then all sorts of stone structures that were either natural stones falling into cracks, or ancient walls, or aliens.
And everything so weathered at the top that the manmade structures were either 100 years old or 5,000 years old. There was a wife and a newborn in the lodge at the bottom of the hill, and me, a dog, and some Amsterdam hash at the top of the hill.
