Give 'Em a Few More Days, And Everyone Will "Know" That Rubio Won Iowa

Yes, Rubio's fans, and the permanent GOP establishment (but I repeat myself), are just sort of ignoring the winner, Ted Cruz, and the second place finisher, Trump, and declaring Rubio won.

They'll keep on saying it. They always throw some caveat around Cruz's win, which was apparently tainted by the fact that he worked really hard at it, and out-organized everyone else.

So they just sort of blow that off. Rubio didn't even try, and he got third. Marcomentum!

Meanwhile, this happened during Hillary's speech:

The last report is that the Democratic Party is asking 90 Iowa precincts to "recreate" their polling sites because they were not properly staffed. I don't know what that means, either. I don't know if they mean they want people to come in and re-caucus, or just turn over their records.

But 90 precincts, I guess, could change the vote, which currently stands at Hillary 49.8%, Sanders 49.6%.

She won one delegate by a coin flip.

Zincfinger says she won six delegates by coin-toss:

According to Barone, HRC won 6 delegates by coin-flip, going 6/6 on six separate coin-tosses. A 1/64 probability occurrence. Amazing!

I'm not saying she's cheating but also I'm saying that.

12 It's funny that the day of, a couple polls that have a low sampling and are historically unreliable (hence easy to manipulate) come out showing the Marcomentum.

And then he has a 'good showing' but doesn't quite win it all. If I wanted to engineer some voter tampering, that is how I would do it myself.

OTOH, Iowans are notorious for being fickle last minute voters, so meh.

They had an analyst who immediately announced that the "big winner" of the night was...Marco Rubio! (They announced this even before giving the results saying that, math-wise, Cruz had won.) The analyst then went on to explain that Rubio "won" because he was the only candidate who performed "better than expectations," and that's all that matters.

How on earth do you call the last few weeks of nonstop blows on Cruz, the media letting Cruz get ahead?

The establishment actually started praising Trump!

Meanwhile, Cruz is so damn bad at handling the media that he won the hearts and minds of more voters than ever before in Iowa Caucus history.

Cruz said it in his speech. The media didn't pick the winner.

Also not seeing how supporting Cruz is 'walking right into it'. You make it sound like an impossible to escape conspiracy, so there is no walking into it. Unless you just mean we should all wise up and support Trump, lol. The guy has his ceiling of voters. Rubio doesn't and Cruz also doesn't.

I'll let you in on a little secret:

I have never gotten a piece of political mail in my entire life.

Why not?

Because they don't know where I live.

Even as a youngster I was rebellious and anti-authoritarian and paranoid about Big Government and so forth, so I started trying to go "off the grid" and "under the radar" and stay anonymous way back in my teens. The earlier you start, the easier it is.

First and most important step was that I never changed my voter's registration address from the day I turned 18. So if I do get any political junk mail it just goes to the address I lived then -- my childhood home, where my mother still lives.

I moved out a few weeks after my 18th birthday, and gave her instructions (which still obtain) to throw away any mail that comes for me. She follows those instructions, I assume, because she has never forwarded anything to me, or even mentioned it. I certainly never get anything at my actual current address.

You may wonder, then: How do I vote? Simple: I just go to the precinct for my mother's address. In California, they're not allowed to ask for ID, much less proof of address, so I've been voting in the same precinct my whole life, no matter where I actually lived at any particular time.

55 Nobody wins any delegates on caucus night. The delegates are chosen in a completely separate process which is designed to let party insiders overrule the popular vote. Kudos to Ron Paul for shedding light on this process by stealing delegates from a number of states, including Iowa, but now that he's gone it's back to business as usual.

If your state has a caucus demand a primary. Cauci are bullshit.

In my longstanding precinct, it's even worse than that:

The old ladies manning the tables actually do this: When you walk up to get your ballot, they rotate the Big Official List Book of names and addresses, push it across the table to you, and say "Point to your name." I of course always point to my own name, but anyone could walk into the room and just point to any unchecked name on the list, and go vote in that person's stead.

I'd be willing to wager that various political vote-fraud specialists round up homeless bums and send 'em around to various precincts like mine after 7pm, knowing that any name unchecked by then will never be checked because the person isn't showing up to vote. Each bum could then point to any random unchecked name, vote for the candidate he was paid to vote for, and no one's the wiser.

82 There were actually 7 coin tosses; Clinton won 6 and Sanders won 1. Which is less sketchy-looking than if she'd won all of them.

Still a bizarre way of handling things; and if they'd chosen an actually-fair method (giving each a half-delegate), Sanders would've won.

This is silly. Major news outlets reported Carson was "taking a break" from campaigning. Who does that the day of the first primary? Supporters relaying a news item is now "dirty"? Carson's camp "clarified" after the news broke he needed fresh clothes, was conceding New Hampshire to focus on SC. My word people use google. And FYI the time stamp of Steve King's tweet was after the news report. Ben Carson should drop, he is done and doing nothing but splitting the vote.

They are going to hit Cruz hard, from all sides. You can count on that. We'll have to dig to find the truth.

132 Yes, Rubio's fans, and the permanent GOP establishment (but I repeat myself), are just sort of ignoring the winner, Ted Cruz, and the second place finisher, Trump, and declaring Rubio won.

They'll keep on saying it. They always throw some caveat around Cruz's win, which was apparently tainted by the fact that he worked really hard at it, and out-organized everyone else.

The big shots in Trump and Cruz' campaigns need to read this, internalize it and act on it. They need to understand that the Permanent Political Class in DC is bound and determined to work in concert with the DNC and MFM (BIRM) to shove the Cuban Combover down the electorate's throat.

And if they do - and if the battered, angry, furious-at-Washington base STILL VOTES FOR RUBIO - then, as Ace pointed out the other day, all this sound and fury is for nothing.

Values Voters Deliver Iowa for Ted Cruz

How? I think the key number in the entrance poll was the one showing that Iowa Republicans overwhelmingly believe Cruz shares their values. Trump bombed in that category. When Cruz attacked Trump for identifying with "New York values," the Acela corridor media (including yours truly) jumped on him. But the attack seems to have worked in Iowa. It may work elsewhere, too.

Cruz's victory demonstrates the importance of organization. His Iowa campaign was methodical, diligent, persistent. We've been hearing about Cruz's turnout operation and technological apparatus for months, and the hype proved true. For an opponent of the philosophy of Saul Alinsky, Cruz is an excellent community organizer. Is his campaign as strong elsewhere? We'll see.

Cruz's victory also shows the durability of the traditional Republican coalition. Iowa tends to go for the most socially conservative candidate, and this year was no exception. Most impressively, Cruz won while opposing ethanol subsidies and facing criticism from Iowa's governor and Washington lobbyists. What David Brooks calls the "counter-counter-establishment" beat its pagan chest on Monday in a victory chant. Members of the conservative movement have got to be smiling at that.

176 How the Dems do it...

Bernie and Shrillary end up in a virtual tie. Give Shrillary the win by virtue of 5 of 6 coin flips. 22 delegates to 21.

Then throw in the super-delegates. Shrillary gets 7 of the 8. Now leads 29 to 22.

Equality. It's for the little people.

In his address in parliament, Fadavi also warned that the IRGC had much more footage of the incident than the material it released earlier -- which showed the sailors kneeling on the deck at gunpoint, later relaxing and eating, and one of them apologizing for unintentionally entering Iranian waters.

Tasnim reported: "If U.S. officials say they are angry with and frustrated by the footage released, they would be 100 times more embarrassed if the IRGC releases other films of the capture, the Iranian commander said."

"Iran does not seek to humiliate any nation, he said, but stressed that if they want to humiliate Iran, the IRGC would publish the footage and make them even more embarrassed and humiliated," the agency added.

And he pointed out that most/many people are channel-surfers, so the length meant they were likely to see at least part of Cruz's speech.

The good news for Rubio is that his third place loss took attention away from his anemic fundraising, high burn rate, and weak cash on hand. (Numbers released late Sunday.) mr Electables campaign sure is a juggernaut!

Posted by: Marcus Tq at February 02, 2016 08:11 AM (GGCsk)

269 Hugh Hewitt (yeah, I know!) had some great points about Cruz's victory speech. His position was that it was valuable free airtime that is hard for the non-Trumps to come by. And he pointed out that most/many people are channel-surfers, so the length meant they were likely to see at least part of Cruz's speech.

I came around to this reasoning too. (another 'ette pointed this out last night I think).

That is exactly why Fox (Rox) cut him off. He was campaigning hard after the evangelical shout out.

281 @243 In the words of the consul Quintus Arrius...

Now you're talking. "In his eagerness to save you, your God has saved the Roman fleet." Written by a Boy General, ambassador to the Ottomans, nephew-in-law of the inventor of the Gatling gun, and, the man who got Billy the Kid. All in one.

We could use a little less "Moby-Dick" and a little more "Ben-Hur."
Asses kicked, names taken, the Great American Novel. Of its century, anyway.

288 I'm discounting Rubio's numbers completely. Cities are traditionally democrat strongholds. Seeing how the numbers are so evenly divided between the elderly Hillary and the ancient Sanders, I suspect huge crossover voting in the larger Iowa cities.

Rubio is the divide the GOP, most desirable 0bama clone who Democrats would naturally gravitate to.

Operation Chaos, democrats version.

289 Can we pause for a minute and consider that an avowed socialist tied the Democratic Party favorite in an exercise where votes were cast (in the United States of America)? Said favorite having her own set of catastrophic issues.

And yet, Ted Cruz is "extreme."

303 Some of you people are really delusional when it comes to Rubio. He is conservative On like 95% of the issues. Anyone who said they Listen to him and say he sounds just like Obama obviously doesn't really listen to him. He spent his whole speech attacking Democrats and calling Hillary a liar and a criminal. Tell me how that is just like Obama?

Posted by: rexbatt at February 02, 2016 12:38 PM (woA40)

304 I'm guessing that each precinct that had to do the coin flip had some Hillary people on hand, who thought that theirs was the only coin flip, and that a little nudge in the right direction would be noticed by no one. It's when we had a 6 of 6 = 1/72 outcome that people realized they were being had. Bernie did not win outside the margin of cheating.

So this means that, right off the bat, Hillary Clinton is already cheating. In her very first election activity for president of the United States, she's already got her finger on the scale. And apparently, the Democrats are satisfied with this.
