France opening up the Vichy archives is an interesting sign. 30 years ago, the country went into convulsions when it had to deal with the revelations stemming from the Klaus Barbie trial. To that time, the image of France was of the noble resistance fighter when in fact, way too many French were either apathetic at best and open collaborators at worst.

I hope this has a salutary effect. It's long overdue and with Islam at France's throat, it might be just the tonic. Then again, Islam's twin brother Marxism has poisoned that society rotten for nearly 100 years.

There should be a period of, say, five years, before an office holder can become involved in any kind of lobbying or industries related to their previous office. Maybe a permanent ban. Stop the revolving door and the corruption.

It's time to do away with the "lame duck" period, too. New president/Congress takes office the day after the election. And actions by the previous president/Congress should be subject to veto or concurrence by the incoming administration. This vindictive shit has to stop.

Of course there are. If you admit there are good parts to history - specifically to Euro-American History - then you have to admit that the various minority groups are not "victims" of some vast conspiracy designed to keep them down.

If you admit that, for instance, the Crusades were an objectively good thing (or, at minimum, objectively justified), then you have to admit that Mohammedans are not virtuous snowflakes besmirched and victimized by Whitey.

There's plenty of bad in our history, but once you put it in perspective against the good, the whole narrative changes.
