EMT 12/19/15 [krakatoa]

In light of the latest federal budget debacle, a parable for our times:

So last Saturday while visiting the Mom, the Wife lost track of the Dogs while tending the Baby.

So of course, the Dogs, being stupid and myopically self-centered and having every bit of the foresight of those charged with steering the ship of state, decided that nothing could be better than a run through the 20 acre woods in search of good sniffs. And on through the next several hundred acres as well, willy-nilly, ignoring or deaf to our calls to return to safer environs.

As the hours turned into days, in the back of my mind I entertained thoughts they were somehow headed south towards the homestead; driven by some unerring sense of Disney direction, or at least by the scheissemagneto sensors that RD referred us to the other day on the sidebar.

Alas, apparently these Dogs, unlike my last one that was wicked smart (so much so the Wife commanded we never get another of that trouble-making mix), were not only incapable of retracing their steps to my mother's, but they also decided the best direction to head in the middle of December was North.

The call finally came in that the Dogs were spotted in a rancher's field on Wednesday, and I went to get them, some 10 miles from where the adventure began.

The old-timer running the ranch pointed me up yonder mountain, at the edge of the woods, and so, after much stress, frustration and irritation, at last the Dogs were safely in my car. Still stupid. Still likely to go off and do something the exact opposite of what you would expect, much less like. Covered in cow shit and acting like nothing could smell sweeter.

Of course, they are dogs. So they can be excused their flights from reason.

9 Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, December 19, 2015. On this day in 1998 President Bill Clinton was impeached by the United States House of Representatives, becoming the second President of the United States to be impeached. He was exonerated hy the Senate because it did not meet the test of Scottish law by turncoat and traitor fake Republican Snalin' Arlen Sphincter, who later proved to be a Democrat when he switched parties.

China is not happy with the US after a B-52 fles over the Spratly islands which China is claiming belongs to them even though it is not located anywhere close to China.

President Obama doubled down Friday on his push to shutter the Guantanamo Bay prison camp, calling it a magnet for jihadi recruitment and vowing to present his closure plan to Congress, while keeping his cards close to the vest on whether he'd try to use executive action to finish the job.

Legally he can not close that base since it was created by a treaty passed by the Senate and multiple votes have refused him permission to close it AND transfer the prisoners to the US (which that part the sycophant press never mentions. Of course since there is no opposition party he can do anything he wants.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is touting the accomplishments of the Senate during the first year of the new Republican majority. His Saturday remarks came a day after the Senate passed a $1.8 trillion spending and tax package, wrapping up the first session of the 114th Congress.

"We gave senators of both parties more of a say, and it opened a floodgate of legislative accomplishments and good ideas," McConnell said. "I'm proud of what the new Republican majority has accomplished in such a short time. We're not only putting the Senate back to work, we're putting it back to work on your side," he added.

"Just like you asked. Just like we promised."

The way to change Obamacare in the coming years will be through bipartisan adjustments, one of the Senate GOP leaders on health policy said Thursday.

"I think over the next four or five years it'll be changed step-by-step toward a health care system with more freedom for people to find policies, more choices and hopefully lower prices," Lamar Alexander, chairman of the Senate Health Committee, said when asked about the future of the health care law.

"We need to keep in mind health care costs as we try to fix Obamacare."

71 Netflix is binge streaming another crime documentary. I'm not sure what the premise is. The guy was arrested on a rape and later released when dna tests did not match him. He then went out and murdered a woman and is back in prison for life. I guess they are trying to argue that being incarcerated wrongly for the rape turned him into a murderer. Bullshite. This guy origianally did prison time for burning his cat alive. He then was busted for the rape, being a felon with a gun, and exposing himself and assaulting a relative. He got 12 yrs for the rape and 6 years for the gun and assault. He was released after 18 years. He sued the country and then they found the dead girl in a drum at his auto shop. I guess the sjw are saying that the cops set him up to avoid paying the potential lawsuit.

In the Culture Wars:

Judge Peter Bariso of the Superior Court of New Jersey has ordered the ex-gay group JONAH (Jews Offering New Alternatives to Homosexuality) to shut down completely within 30 days. The order also forbids founder Arthur Goldberg and counselor Alan Downing from engaging in any form of conversion therapy commerce in New Jersey.

The jury in the case found unanimously on June 25 that by offering services it claimed could turn gay people straight, JONAH committed consumer fraud and engaged in unconscionable commercial practices.

The order is the endgame of a trial launched in 2012 by former clients of JONAH, which they won. Southern Poverty Law Center sought an injunction ordering the shutdown of the organization at the time of the verdict.

I took the dog out this morning because... you have to, of course. Occasionally one of the cats will stand by the door, thinking he's sneaking out.

He'll dash out the door ahead of the dog, who makes her way over to her designated spot. Meanwhile, the boy cat will run around for a bit, then come back in.

Not today. He made his mad leap out the door, stood on the deck for a moment, then declared in catspeak "it's freakin' cold out here, dude!" Then made his mad dash back inside as soon as I opened the door.

117 Anyone thinking of reading the link posted by Laurie David's Cervix (#98, above) needs to know two things:

1. It's a link to Bullshitico;

2. The author's attitude can be summed up by his "analysis" of one item in the bill: While the unemployment rate has fallen, there are still more than two
million Americans have been out of work for more than six months. These
are the long-term unemployed, and they have a bigger problem than other
people: research shows being out of work that long hurts their well-being....

Two million, eh? Maybe two million in the Washington D.C. area, or two million using Choom Boy's New New Math, but anyone with any connection to reality knows this number is as bogus as a Larry Kudlow read on the state of the economy.

From this date in Italy during WWII

Dec 19, 1943 - The EZ Dog Journals
Little contact. Patrols moved to S. Vittore and near Mt. Porchia. Germans evidently retreated back to a new line. Christmas Sunday. Sunshine, clear.

S. Vittore = San Vittore del Lazio (about 2 miles WNW of San Pietro)
Monte Porchia = I'm not sure, Google Earth indicates Monte Porchia at the site of a town named San Caesario, just across the Liri Valley floor from San Pietro, but there is no hill or mountain there that I can see. Might be just a village name.

At any rate, this line of advance put the Allies about six miles from the Abbey at Monte Cassino.

Indeed they do. But their advertising people are dumb as a bag of hammers. First they tried to hook up with the "Hunger Games" movie, and the result was laughable, to put it mildly.

Now it's "Star Wars," which they have hooked to both Ram pickups and Jeeps.

I guess the theory is: if you love the movie, you'll love the product connected to it. Wrong on both counts....

174 Re this Mumia/hep C/etc thing; one of the dirty little secrets of life is that people forget things. Way back in the late 1970s, guess what group had a regular epidemic of hepatitis C running rampant in it? Yes, the Gheys. Saw a documentary about it on PBS back in the day, and it was made clear that the hep C was being spread sexually. And not so surprisingly, this was not long before the first rumblings of the AIDS epidemic began to appear as well.

Yeah, that cop killer might also have got it from tattooing, sharing toothbrushes or razors, IV drug use, all the "usual" disease vectors. But even in these days of PC medicine, the medical powers that be will not completely discount the possibility of hep C being sexually transmitted.

My doctor (who is the best internist in this part of the Galaxy) told me years ago that unless his patients have some underlying health problems, he does not give flu shots, the reason being that they only vaccinate you against a handful of strains, whereas you are exposed to hundreds every flu season. For years I never bothered with flu shots and didn't really miss them. Nowadays, since I now have a list of "underlying health problems" as long as my damned arm, I get both the flu and pneumonia shots. And they do help...mostly. Take that as you will...

Last year about early December, I was riding with a friend, as he made a business trip to Camden. I worried about it, but mother nature took care of it, It was snowing hard, and the streets were empty. Whew!

Regardless of the Trump part of that, it's an interesting observation. Also avg ~25yr old hitting the job market this year was born ~1990, all they realistically remember is Bush II and Obama, and even then they probably were not politically aware (outside of school indoctrination) till the later part of GW's term, also when you say things like whitewater, cattlegate, travelgate, filegate, china-gate, waco, monica, VRWC, their eyes glaze over cause they don't know wtf you're talking about.

222 To all you sick people out there in the real world, I can sympathize.

But first, I have read stories where flu shots give you the flu, so no shots for me, because I am the world's biggest whiny baby when I'm sick. And you have to go to the Doctor's office, where all the sick people are, to get them.

And secondly, I avoid contact with potential disease vectors.

And third, my immune system is already overactive and is busily attacking my own skin, so I'm not really worried about the flu. In fact, giving my immune system something to do might help my skin problem. But I am not a Doctor so don't take my opinion seriously.

And happy week end to all.

DOJ, drugs, surveillance, terrorist, or Obama targeting 'white supremacists'.

302 Good morning!

My parents had a beagle that did that all the time. He was an escaper artist, and once he got out he was gone for 8+hours. The one time Tucker did this while my mom was visiting w/family in FL the local police provided some assistance (small town) chasing him down. So as a thank-you she sent them a large tin of cookies and a note made from a photo of Tucker as he ran away, because that's the view most of us usually got of him tail wagging as he excitedly followed some critter's scent.

Before I deployed overseas (Army) we stood in line and got inoculated against every known disease--it seemed. Shouldn't have been a germ/virus been able to get within 100yds of us without dying outright.

Several of the "shots" were with the pneumatic needle, what a nasty piece of work THAT is. Aftereffects were terrible. Lots of cases of inflammation, soreness to the extent of being unable to fully raise an arm above the head, or even move without extreme discomfort.

Since that, each time shots were given to me, it was with the conventional needle. Much less trauma.

Any with two separate triggers. The old ones with the rabbit ear hammers could do it. But you have to be careful with those. They had Damascus Steel barrels and were designed for black powder. Can not take the high pressure of smokeless powder shells.

Witnesses said the terrorist attempted to enter a synagogue about 300 meters from where he was caught. According to witnesses, he attacked a woman and passersby immediately began chasing him. A civilian reportedly fired warning shots into the air. The terrorist then fled about 300 meters and entered a house on an adjacent street.

One witness said that a dog attacked the terrorist inside the house, leading him to escape to the yard, where he was confronted by police. A police officer drew his gun, at which point the terrorist dropped his knife. Police found a knife in the yard.

A medical document shows that Adolf Hitler only had one testicle, German media said on Saturday.

There has long been speculation that Hitler was missing one testicle, with rumours circulating that he lost the other one during the Battle of the Somme in the First World War. But a medical record from the time when Hitler was put in prison after the failed Munich beer hall putsch in 1923 shows he suffered from "right-side cryptorchidism" - a condition where a testicle fails to descend into the scrotum - media reports said.

Say a Republican candidate takes a pro-choice position. How many of those single women would switch political affiliation, do you think? Also, for every vote gained by a Republican candidate running on a pro-choice platform, how many votes would be lost among those who vote pro-life? I guess what I'm asking is this: Would those women actually switch parties ( a gain), and how many traditionally Republican voters would be lost? I think that it is not just abortion. Women want somebody to take care of them (and presumably their children). It is built into the genes. Even if women can take care of themselves, they still want somebody to take care of them. For married women, that somebody is their husband. A large part of why women marry a man is because he signals that he can and will take care of them.

Democrats have been able to lock up the vote of single women by promising to take care of them and their bastard children.

I don't think it is any more complicated than that.

430 I wonder what happens when the first gay gets a roof top plunge in this country? Will the MFM get all in a rage over it or pretend like it didn't happen?

Small price to pay for diversity. NYT public editor is all upset and demanding structural changes at the NYT for being too anti-Muslim generally and specifically too hard on San Berdoo.Malik. They failed to report that her pro-ISIS social (?) media posts were private, not public.

Yes, I think you're right. See: "The Life of Julia" with "Julia" and her spawn cared for by Big Daddy Government from cradle to grave. I was horrified by that, but the Dem women I know saw nothing at all wrong with the premise of that video.

Abortion is just one part of a larger mindset. The government is there to enable Dem women, to give them a safety net, to tell them that any feckless mistakes they make won't ruin their lives. Big Daddy Government will always be there to pat them on the head and give them a big check.

Even if they are financially secure themselves, Dem women think other women should be "empowered" by the welfare state if need be and if you don't think so, well, you're a big meanie.

Yeah, my own gender frequently embarrasses me, the'ettes being an exception.

432 RINO Ryan depended on Democrats to sell us out on that spending bill and then lied about it to conservatives.

Did I say I'm for Trump? I am not.

I will vote for Cruz. That's about it.

Again, a country that is indifferent to or supports chop shops for baby parts is a country that deserves to die.

Your pro-choice hard left fools who let their vayjayjays rule their voting habits? Fine. I hope they enjoy their burkas.

434 I've gone straight to Amazon and put a buncha stuff in my shopping cart. If I now go throught Ace's portal and finalize the purchase does he get his cut, or must I start over. Just doin' my bit to pay for his Ewok groomer.

I'm not justifying it, I think it's a stupid issue for these women, but it's a political reality

So Trump's support of abortion is a disqualifier in your eyes?

436 There has long been speculation that Hitler was missing one testicle, with rumours circulating that he lost the other one during the Battle of the Somme in the First World War. But a medical record from the time when Hitler was put in prison after the failed Munich beer hall putsch in 1923 shows he suffered from "right-side cryptorchidism" - a condition where a testicle fails to descend into the scrotum - media reports said.

Yeah, well, explain Mitch McConnell.

Yes I will not vote for a pro abortion candidate.

439 No, that is no longer Trumps position on abortion. If you don't support him, that's fine. Don't try and pass off something he said 10 years ago as his current position. People change.

No, you have to start over.

441 "If we've decided we're OK with that as a nation, we deserve to go under."

The American public has never wanted to pay for abortion. Congress has continually added items to other spending bills to not pay for abortion. Government bureaucracy has been out of control since at least FDR. If the media is ok with it, the President is ok with it, and the (so called) leadership of Congress is ok with it then it doesn't matter what the American public wants. What does this tell you about both President Bush's? Reagan was outvoted by Congress and the media. They aren't even adding "The Hyde Amendment" to spending bills anymore.

442 Some traditions give gifts then anyway.

There are two different traditions:

- gift giving at the Epiphany, in emulation of the Magi
- those who observe the pagan Julian calendar, rather than the popish Gregorian calendar. Which happen to be 13 days different at the current epoch. So Julian Christmas just happens to occur on Gregorian Epiphany (actual).

444 With all of the blacks shooting and killing one another in Baltimore City you would wonder how the nitwit DA Mosley would have time to retry the officer after his trial resulted in a hung jury?
