Obama's Last Press Conference of the Year

Livestream here.

He's going on vacation, if you can believe that. On the way, he'll take a quick Included Excursion to meet with the families of the victims of his incompetence. I imagine this will be a closed meeting with only a White House photographer present. He'll claim this is due to his wishing to keep it "private" but it's really to keep from giving any attention to the story.

Of course, if he gets a good picture, comforting the family of the Islamic woman who was killed, for example, this "private" and sacred meeting will be documented on the White House Twitter feed.

The meeting will be private and almost sacred, unless Obama thinks he looks warm and strong and above all Reassuring in a picture. Then, maybe not so private after all.

[Update: Andy] Here's an additional detail to place this press conference into its proper context.

Good Quote from Obama:

"There's only so much bombing you can do when a country is outraged and believes their ruler doesn't represent them."

Hear, hear! You finally understand, Slapdick!

Barging in, but permit me to piss you off even more:

Senate Republicans are taking a victory lap as 2015 comes to a close, highlighting their accomplishments in a new video. The video, titled "A New Approach," was released by the Senate Republican Conference Friday morning and features more than a dozen senators listing a number of accomplishments from the past year.

"Last November, the American people voted to break through Washingtons gridlock and get Congress working again," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said as the video opened with drums playing. "That's just what the new Republican majority you elected has done."

The video featured some of those senators who are among the most vulnerable incumbents, including Sens. Rob Portman of Ohio, Mark S. Kirk of Illinois, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Richard M. Burr of North Carolina and John McCain of Arizona.

He is, after all, our duly elected elite ruler, and he just won a great victory without expending one iota of political capital. And the media now have plausible deniability in turning their attention away from his recent string of failures and lauding his bringing the wretched Republicans to heel.

It kind of reminds me of the last scene in the original Godfather where the underlings go in and kiss Michael Corleone's ring, paying their homage to the triumphant leader who had vanquished his opposition.

LDC, again, thanks for your diligent updating behaviors.

Yep, that "gridlock" was the problem, and boy is it done "broken".

Nothing says "smoothly functioning legislature in a constitutional system with divided powers" like the seventh consecutive year of a multi-thousand page CR passed after less than 48 hours of consideration, in which the "opposition" in the WH and Congress get, literally, more than they asked for.

But remember, "circular firing squad". Remember - "eating our own". Remember - "but, but ..... the Dems would be worse, or something". Remember - "SCOTUS appointments!!! eleventy!!! over which the Senate has no control, er ...."

192 NO .. it's not a CIVIL WAR within the Democratic Party ...

Bernie Sanders' campaign on Friday threatened to sue the Democratic National Committee for suspending its access to the national voter database, saying the move threatens to undermine the Vermont senator's presidential run.

Even as the campaign admitted its staffers had inappropriately reviewed Hillary Clinton campaign data made available as a result of a software error, it emphatically accused the DNC of sabotage.

"We are announcing today that if the DNC continues to hold our data hostage, and continues to try to attack the heart and soul of our campaign, we will be in federal court this afternoon seeking an immediate injunction," Sanders' campaign manager Jeff Weaver said at a press conference.

On the session restore page, if you get a list of a bunch of windows and tabs, try unchecking the most recent ones opened, the theory being the most recent is the troublemaker.

Otherwise, after hitting restore session, hit <Esc> a bunch of times, which should halt loading and executing the code of the various pages/tabs. Then you should be able to bookmark all tabs to individually restore your sessions and identify the culprit.

297 Anna, don't know what you are running, but my firefox went nuts yesterday.

Interesting ... happened to different people at roughly same time. Bad auto-update?

298 I know what's important. We have to reform the American justice system because, as we all know, the American criminal really gets a bad break.

299 I liked Pale Moon but it doesn't support as many "blockers" as FF. So I'm stuck w/FF.

Posted by: Ralph at December 18, 2015 02:59 PM (8N2JI)

300 Another FF tip.. don't use the normal version use the LTS\enterprise version (currently 38.5) so you don't have to deal with interface and feature changes every couple months, instead about once every 18mo.

Anna I'd do a clean reinstall of Firefox but also a full system AV scan just in case.

I did that, uninstalled reinstalled. Still screwed up. I went nuclear. I wiped it all off and restored from back up drive.

ha, he must have a formula, or maybe just a random mixture

dog whistles
straw men
mercilessly slaying strawman
jabbing dead (conservative Christian) strawman, laughing how stupid it is
dog whistles
distorted facts
lies
self adulation, I me I mine

I love this ridiculous claim. Every "Dinner With Democrats" I like to ask them: Is a Penitentiary an often cited reason for murder? Do gangbangers sell drugs and short six year olds because Prisons exist?

Of course not! Open your damn brains!

It works sometimes too.

The nuclear option is to wipe the HD and reinstall the OS.

overkill..but it got the job done for you.

314 - lol

Anna - assuming your ok with losing favorites and preferences and don't mind reinstalling any extentions\plugins and just want to start over.
wipe %userprofile%\appData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox
wipe %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Mozilla
Then reinstall.
There are ways to do that as well without losing data but this blog is probably not the best place to walk you though that.

It should but nobody else supports the same level of blocking extentions, yet, and actually it seems even Mozilla is gonna be ripping some of that support away soon. Everyone's gone more and more full-retard in the browser space in the last 3 years.

Clean uninstall includes deleting all settings files and install directory. Fairly manual process.

It might still be something screwwing with the system. I miss the days when IOBit seemed trustworthy, their cleanup software seemed to work very well, but then they started to do some hinky things.

Did you try Chrome or Opera or (random) as a stopgap measure?

330 Yes, oh yes-Because Obama "speaking more passionately" will definitely keep us safer. His awesome speech is like some sort of superhero shield iso that nothing bad can penetrate-like the superpower woman from "Fantastic Four"( ?) or something.
