I was working contract security at a corporate hanger, 11p - 7a. I'd get off at 7:00, go across the street to the diner, have bacon, eggs, & a beer, then go to school. All totally legal.

I think they are doing okay. Let's face it, the book isn't that riveting. There isn't much drama to it. Religion would have faced some interesting questions/problems and all Clarke did was spend a paragraph saying that religion disappeared except for a little Buddhism. I find the questions that Clarke chose to elide or barely touch to be more interesting.

The Army is going to replace Humvees with a new vehicle. They decided on 50,000 of the new design at approximately $375,000 each (base model).
We won WWII with Jeeps even though the enemy had landmines and grenade launchers. When we're fighting in an area with a high probability of IEDs, there will still be a need for troops in North Carolina to get to the PX.
Did anyone suggest that they buy 20% of the new vehicle, knowing if there is a need they can send them all to the hot zone? For the rest of the Army in the U.S., Japan, Korea, Germany, etc. etc. etc., give them Escalades at $80,000 each.

Trump doesn't know what a nuclear triad is, which I find spookier than anything he's said or done in his campaign so far Jeb!seemed unsure of himself,nervous and stammering,yet the pundits said he had a great night. Cruz was weasely and obfuscating on some of the more direct questions and continually went over time. Rubio, usually smooth on stage, was off his game. Christie did well, but national defense is his strength. Carly held her own--which isn't good since she's so low in the polls. Rand Paul had an amazing night, but it was too little too late, in my view. John Kasich reminded us that the GOP needs Ohio to win, so I guess he's running for VP. Oh, and yeah: I don't recall Kasich bringing up his postal worker Dad, so that was a win all around for everybody.

I'm not a geopolitical strategist, either. I'm a commercial artist from Nowhere, Indiana. Maybe I know what a nuclear triad is because I grew up during the Cold War and nukes were at the forefront of the national consciousness--it was a real fear back then. Or maybe I know what a nuclear triad is because I bother to read about current events and national affairs.
In any event, a candidate for President needs to know this stuff. And it wasn't just that Trump didn't know. It's that he tried to bullshit his way throughto offer somesemblance of an answer and as a result came off even worse. 'Nuclear is bad,'Trump said knowingly--and I'm not paraphrasing here. That's what he said. Jeebus.

The problem is that everyone, even the reviews, fall for the hype.
I don't remember the initial reviews for The Phantom Menace daring to tell us it was a turkey, and word-of-mouth was certainly afraid to say so at first. It took a while.
