Good Morning Morons. Today is Tuesday, December 08, 2015. On this day in 1991 the leaders of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine signed an agreement dissolving the old Soviet Union and establishing the Commonwealth of Independent States.
And wonder of wonders I think I have solved the problem of lockups. It was the mouse after all and what threw me off was the replacement mouse I tried to use was also bad. After I put a third mouse in it seems to be working fine. Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at December 08, 2015 06:47 AM (t2KH5) 8

So, last week a terror attack was committed by Islamists, one of whom was a recent immigrant, carried out in a "Gun Free Zone" in a state with Draconian gun laws. A neighbor who suspected they were up to no good was afraid to say anything for fear of being called a racist.
In response to the terror attack, the Obama Regime: - Will continue to import thousands of Islamic migrants from radicalized Islamic homelands. - Will pursue more gun control. - Threatens to prosecute Americans who say bad things about Islamics. Expecting a sketch of Zumwalt with sideburns drawn in, any minute.
A ship that weighs as much as Dreadnought, and out-displaces most WWII cruisers, really oughtn't to be called a destroyer. The Washington Naval Treaty has certainly lain heavily upon naval architecture. (Last year I met a ship designer from Ingalls Mobile who had never heard the title "naval architect" before. Kind of skeeved me out). Cool boat, I wish her well and all in her too; I agree that's a lot of X-stuff all at once. The balsa-core carbon fibre is perhaps a bit much for me, although it should endear her to old school modelers forever. "Hybrid" power train is absolutely not a green new concept, it's been used in many vessels and should be a game changer in a fight, or close maneuvering. May her crews always tumble home. What I see in this is even more harassment. http://fxn.ws/21LEUFm Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at December 08, 2015 06:53 AM (t2KH5) ================================================== What the heck? People in my immediate family give more than that just in a month. Last year, our church received roughly $1,400,000 in charitable giving. That doesn't count the Christmas offering, which was $85,000. And we are a very blue-collar church with mostly families who have a lot of kids. We certainly aren't full of millionaires. All the Bush's, Chaney, Media and all their friends don't understand that society is fragile and that they are superfluous and easily replaced. They think if times get hard they will just draw more money out of their trust funds and hire more guards. An idea that can be expressed as "let them eat cake". Trump so far has been true to "hard scrabble" workers who are the source of all wealth. Without them the US becomes Yemen.

Heard on the radio Bernie will be Socialist of the Year for Time. Not that I care what that rag puts out but it is still something of a sign where this countries head is.
Bernie Sanders? That unaccomplished socialist that 99% of his supporters had never heard of 6 months ago? He always reminds me of some member of the East Europe commie leadership before the final collapse: decrepit, delusional, clinging to a failed ideology, loyal not to his country or people but only to socialism. They're just members of the Lunchbox Family, caught in the crosshairs simply because they were there. Terrorists don't off politicians or major media figures. They leave their friends and enablers alone. The random act is far more effective. I won't blame the victims next time. I'd think a bra holster wouldn't be any different than a t-shirt or shoulder holster. You just need to train a bit more, although training can be difficult since a lot of ranges won't allow such because of sweeping the line. Private ranges are best for such kinds of training.

@207 Yes rick, that same source circulated a nasty stat several years ago, showing how much more likely an innocent bystander in NYC was to be shot by a police officer than by a criminal actually engaged in committing a crime.
At that time, there was an attitude that this was due to NY cops just hate-hate-hating to practice with their service weapons. I think it much more likely that the trigger-weight is the issue. The US State Department pandered once again to the Palestinian Authority (PA), backtracking on remarks noting the PA's incitement campaign against Israel and blasting Israel's "illegitimate" presence in Judea and Samaria.
During Monday's press briefing, State Department spokesman John Kirby denied that US Secretary of State John Kerry had accused the PA of incitement. During Sunday's Saban Forum address, Kerry had said that "the Palestinian leadership should stop the incitement and condemn terror attacks." He also specifically noted PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas's role in the incitement. "He made some very incendiary comments, which I called him on," he said. "I was very direct with him about the al-Aqsa Mosque [Temple Mount - ed.]. And there was some very inciteful comments made." But Kirby denied this ever happened Monday. As I said, the Trump candidacy is not about the man per se; it's about the issues he raises and the awakening of a lot of people to what the hell's going on in this nation. If Podhoretz can't get past whatever bugaboo he has and agree with a man who he hates personally on the issues he should be agreeing on, then I call into question Podhoretz's positions on the issues and, yes, his conservatism. Wasn't stopped by a gun, but a guy who heard a ruckus, ran in and tackled the guy, distracting him from his whole 'behead the student I hate and then hold the whole class hostage, then take out some police' plans. ---Poof!--- Story disappeared after a few days. Even though he had a manifesto, detailed written plans, an ISIS flag in his dorm room, and IIRC, crudely made bombs (or something that looked like that). My question is what is wrong with the other Republicans that are giving him shit?
Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at December 08, 2015 06:47 AM (t2KH5) Because it is unconstitutional and will convince many independentsthe GOP is tooover-the-top and unserious. National Socialism is a politicalideology. We can refuse entry to Nazis on that basis. Communism is also an ideology, and we used to turn away communists before the leadership of the Democratic Party outed itself as a fellow traveler. Islam is a religion--and yes, I know it is a religion with a built-in political ideology, but that is beside the point. No court in the country will support a bar to Muslim immigration. It's just Trump playing Panderbear. By the way, Trump also says American Muslims should not regain entry into the country if they attempt to return home from a trip. I don't know what the ramifications for Muslim soldiers would be in the event of overseas deployment (I served with several). The whole idea is nuts. Trump will say anything if he thinks it will play with the rubes--and I'm not calling you a rube. I'm guessing he thinks you are if you're willing tobuy into this particular piece of grandstanding bullshit. Posted by: troyriser at December 08, 2015 08:27 AM (WuTfJ) 269

So, yes, Trump saying ban all Muslims from immigrating until our government figures out what's going wrong is extreme. Not out of the blue, considering that the "consensus" in the media is that this Pakistani immigrant wife "radicalized" Farook.

Just checked out the ONT, so-
A few things: 1) If you haven't actually read the Koran and, at least, some hadiths- I don't need to hear your wish casting about islam. All the violence, murder, slavery, anti-freedom, lack of civil rights, subjugation of women, etc- is there. As, and this leads to point 2, Allah's word and promise. 2) Islam is a political system of religion-oriented fascism codified by mohammed as the direct word of Allah. That's the important part. Who's word are muslims going to take about what their religion is- your wishcasting, infidel, weasel words or the direct word of their almighty god, Allah? They are muslims because they believe the word of Allah. Soak in that a while. 3) Stealth invasion has often been the muslim way. Read some history. As the number of muslims increase, so do the demands. Because this is the direct word of their god. 4) The US has no, zip, zero, nada requirement to take in people from any nation or religion- especially those who espouse a violent, political or religious belief system at odds with America, it's Constitution, and it's values. Not sure it's a good idea to carry a gun in your purse ladies....they say women put the purse in the grocery cart and then shop... often leaving the purse somewhat unattended when leaving the cart to get something off of the shelves... ...also some little kid shot his/her mom with her own gun at the store because mom wasn't "in charge" of the weapon...kid went in the purse and pulled the trigger while he/she was sitting in the cart-purse was in the cart...I think the mom died. Very sad. Please, if you carry...have the weapon on your person or in your coat or fanny pack worn on your person and be aware at all times of it....children will be curious...thieves will do their thing as well... Situational awareness is a MUST at ALL times. Carrying a gun is not something to take lightly. Posted by: Some Guy in Wisconsin at December 08, 2015 08:49 AM (Qj6zv) 332

Hope Trump holds his ground. And I hope that his supporters to continue to support him as well. And that others join. He talks about a problem everyone is mumbling about and"solution" which sounds like it is on the extreme end of the spectrum. Adults know, that in the end, it will be a different animal, but there will be action toward a solution and not just talk. What is more scary to me are the responses he is getting. And this is a country where the President cannot or will not clearly identify the enemy that is killing Americans in America.

I got one scam call. I strung him along after having been inspired by a recording I heard of a comedian doing the same thing.
Asked who was calling, when the guy said it was such and such I said that he'd called the scene of a murder and the person he was calling (me) had been butchered in a rather grisly fashion. I said I need to know his relationship with the deceased and where he was so I could get him in for questioning. He told me he was in India, so I said "OK, well we have contacts with Interpol and New Delhi. Where in India? Or should we continue with the phone trace?" He hung up. I haven't had any scam calls for awhile now. Pity, I enjoy playing with them. Posted by: VA GOP Sucks at December 08, 2015 08:54 AM (eytER) 344

Posted by: Nevergiveup at December 08, 2015 08:48 AM As usual, NGU gets the point many others either obfuscate or ignore. Trump didn't just pull the Muslim immigration ban out of his ass. It was a response to something that actually happened. And it happened, in large part, because Choom Boy opened the door wide to let Muzzie terrorists in, and bamboozled a bunch of politically-correct Americans -- including all the '16 Preezy wannabes except Trump -- into backing his play. It should also be noted that Trump didn't call for a permanent ban. When the government gets its act together (yeah, as if....) the ban can be lifted. Something you can't say about any proposed gun bans. Posted by: MrScribbler at December 08, 2015 08:55 AM (ykopX) 346

On a better note, yesterday at lunch, I had to drive to Lowe's (in another town) to pick up the work boots I bought for the family our company has adopted for Christmas. The local Lowe's was out of stock, and I got badly lost because instead of GPSing the trip, I glanced at the route on Google Maps and it looked pretty straightforward but it wasn't.
Anyway, dropping the boots off with the HR person running the gift thing, I found out the family's backstory. They were a two-income middle class family. The husband works in a warehouse, the wife was an x-ray technician. But about six months ago, she had to quit her job to care for their epileptic daughter and it's made things tough for them. Islam is a religion--and yes, I know it is a religion with a built-in political ideology, but that is beside the point. No court in the country will support a bar to Muslim immigration. It's just Trump playing Panderbear.
__________________ Islam's "built-in political ideology" is NOT beside the point; it is the point. The fact is that Islam is not just a religion. It is a political and social and legal and economic system as well. And it is a system that it antithetical to our constitutional system. Federal judges, and the U.S. president, take an oath to defend and preserve the U.S. constitution. How can they honor that oath while simultaneously approving the importation into the U.S. of millions of Muslims who would willingly subvert that same constitution? Muslims' primary allegiance is not to our republic or the principles of individual freedom on which it was founded, but to Muhammad and the establishment of his caliphate. We simply cannot continue to ignore the fact that Muslim ideology is fundamentally incompatible with the basic tenets of American civilization. Muslims do not believe in the separation of church and state; they do not believe in religious liberty; they do not believe in freedom of speech; they do not believe in civil rights for women, gays, etc.; they do not believe in free markets, and on and on and on. If we continue to allow millions of Muslims to immigrate here, we are setting ourselves up for an inevitable clash of civilizations in our own land -- and only one side will win that fight. I've wondered how much it would cost to recapitalize the military if the DoD weren't hellbent on using bleeding edge tech in everything. Trump's at least talking about EVERYTHING that needs to be talked about. Fearlessly. The CNN guy this morning looked like his head was going to explode. I like that in my reporters.... While I don't know the guy personally, he seems to be a bit like me: a problem solver. Perhaps I'm of a different breed, but I tend to like things that work properly as they were conceived and intended to work. Things like cars, airplanes, bridges and stuff like that there. It's become increasingly clear that our political system isn't working as it was intended and unscrupulous politicians use that as an excuse to 1. Not fix a problem and 2. Gain power from a problem. Considering my working background where a problem with what you're working on could result in someone's death, I tend to take that rather seriously. So yeah, I want problems fixed to where I don't every have to even think about the problem again. Such a thing is possible, but today's sorry excuses for politicians don't see it that way. I know that the physical world has limits and is somewhat easier to control than the world of political ideas, but the principle is the same, and worked quite well for us for a long time. Rules exist for good reasons. Posted by: BackwardsBoy at December 08, 2015 09:05 AM (LUgeY) 375

North Koreas first submarine capable of firing missiles underwater suffered serious damage during a failed test launch last month, according to defense officials.
The Sinpo-class submarine attempted to launch North Koreas KN-11 submarine-launched ballistic missile during a test Nov. 28 in the Sea of Japan, but officials said the missile failed to properly eject from its firing tube, causing damage to the submarine and its sail. Details of the damage were not disclosed by officials familiar with intelligence reports of the test. The assessment of damage to the submarine was based on debris analyzed by U.S. satellites and other technical intelligence means. The failed test is considered a significant setback for the missile submarine program, the officials said. LMAO Posted by: Nevergiveup at December 08, 2015 09:07 AM (gf8BH) 378

Good morning all. Your daily dose of EZ Dog.
Dec 8, 1943 - The EZ Dog Journals Attack, 2d phase, started this morning in heavy fog. Met heavy resistance at every point. Italian Brig forced to retreat through 936 area. Situation very critical for a while. Attack continuing as night fell. "936 area" refers to the 936th Field Artillery Brigade's unit position. Note the mention of an Italian Brigade. This particular operation (sometimes referred to as the Battle of San Pietro Infine) was the first substantial involvement of Italian ground forces against the Germans. In September 1943 the Italian army surrendered, the King removed Mussolini from power and a civil war developed in Italy. Italian troops in the south joined with the Allies as part of the integrated armies confronting the Gustav Line and were known at the Italian Co-belligerent Army. At the same time, some elements of the Italian military remained loyal to Mussolini and continued to assist the Germans. This particular phase of the campaign was an attempt to pry open the entry into the Liri Valley, which was the Allies' expected path along Route 6 to the northwest to approach the main German line of defense at Monte Cassino. Obama is taking no new action, except stepping up his ongoing gun control efforts (not terror-related) and upping his lectures on the American people. He's still on board with bringing Syrian refugees in, and continued fast-track fiancee visas, etc. Is Trump's approach the right one? Iagree we should temporarily ban immigration (or even visits) from specific countries such as Syria, Libya, and other ISIS or Al Queda strongpoints, which is legal and do-able. We're talking about the traditional business of nation-states here. However, sorting people out by their possible or probable beliefs is a tricky business. I mean, gee, what if they lie? None of Trump's proposals will fly in court, not one. Posted by: troyriser at December 08, 2015 09:17 AM (WuTfJ) 406

It's also the only smart play I've seen. Look, it's like this. I've said before I'm a cultural wonk of sorts, and by that I don't mean kids-these-days-with-their-so-called-music culture, I mean Enlightenment West vs Islam vs China vs whatever. As such I take a view of not only what I'd like to see, but what's required for that to even exist, let alone thrive. Simply put, if you import ever increasing numbers of a competitor culture with zero effort to convert them into true members of yours, that's suicide, straight up. Trump seems at the moment to be the only one that even gets this around here. Europe is beyond lost. Putin...is Putin, but also shows signs of getting it. The '65 immigration law was a disaster beyond measure. If we want any hope of ever again having a society whose basis is the Enlightenment (which is basically what we want if I have it right) we need to shut off the flow and start cleaning house one way or another. world. Trump makes outrageous claims and puts out impossible policy points because they garner headlines. Why does the Left not have those same boundaries? They talk about the impossible ALL the time - just look at their unconstitutional proposals to out law guns or use the nebulous "no fly list" to ban random people from possessing guns. They do this with every issue. So often the Left/MSM set the narrative and we get frustrated that no one in the GOP questions their premises, they just play along as if what the Left wants is reasonable. Along comes Trump, making extreme proposals that, get this, make us question the premises/narratives laid out by the Left. At least he's making it a broad discussion, not the limited one the Left wants. Posted by: Lizzy at December 08, 2015 09:26 AM (NOIQH) 421

The Mohammedan Empire stretches from North Africa to southeast Asia. I do know he was dating some woman who became wealthy suddenly becoz her daughter settled a medical claim. Possible he met the girls through that stuff. He's not a murdering kind, just a bumble really. But where else could all that go? They took the student's BMW SUV and parked it in another shitty cul de sac, probably so another crew could dismantle it. Way I figure, its usually drugs, money, or passion. The numbers involved suggest not revenge/passion. There are players not ID'd yet - both students were fit, one a football player. While yes one was shot in the leg, they were both beat up. Those girls didn't do that. Theory so far is the guys were lured in by the girls and that the house itself was a 'drug den' - likely enough. The first Zumwalt class destroyer left port yesterday for sea trials: http://bit.ly/1NDOF2h Since I grew up thinking that a destroyer was a fast boat with smallish artillery, torpedos, and depth charges, and since this ain't that, why continue to use the term destroyer for whatever this is? Here is the chronology and body count of the attacks, with U.S. intelligence analysis of who was behind each:—Oct. 10: The bombing of peace demonstrations outside the main train station in Ankara, Turkey left 102 dead. Directed by ISIS.—Oct. 31: The bombing of a Metrojet plane bound for Russia over Egypt killed 224 passengers and crew. An "announcement" attack by the ISIS in the Sinai peninsula.—Nov. 10: Two suicide bombers detonating themselves in a marketplace in southern Beirut, Lebanon, killing 43 people. Directed by ISIS.—Nov. 13: Attacks on multiple sites in Paris, including the Bataclan theater, left 130 dead — excluding attackers. Directed by ISIS.—Nov. 24: The bombing of a bus carrying members of the presidential guard in the Tunisian capital city of Tunis left at least 12 dead. An "announcement" attack by the ISIS affiliate in Tunisia.—Dec. 2: The assault on a San Bernardino, California, office holiday party killed 14 people. Allegedly inspired by ISIS, but the extent of any contact between the shooters and ISIS or sympathizers is unknown.

I'm guessing Trump splits off in a fit of pique after he loses in Iowa or one of the other early primaries and goes for a third party run. It'll be Ross Perot all over again, only this time without Vietnamese commandos lurking in the flower garden. It's certainly possible; The Donald has shown he can be a bit prickly when he's not leading the polls. But I'd support him for third party if the choice is whatever Establishment stooge the GOPe puts up as Scankles' tomato can. People are such saps They are.
