They're hoping to build up from there, though.

7 I see trailers these days for the one about priests sexing up children, and the one about concussions in the NFL.

All those concerned Hollywood stars, looking all concerny.

No thanks. I think I'm pretty much done with Hollywood movies. Can't remember the last one I paid to see.

55 Funny story I heard Bruce Dern tell on some talk show: He did that stinkeroo 'The Incredible Two-Headed Transplant' and he feared he wasn't going to get paid. As they were filming the last scene, he could see the crew one by one leave and he figured they were cashing their checks. So he hurried down to the bank as soon as the film wrapped but by then it was too late, the money was gone and his check bounced.

So, no $.

It depends on how one defines the term "worst movie." I think it's rather pointless to take Ed Wood's dreck and judge it on its merits.

Makes more sense to me to look at films that are acclaimed, and compare them to the hype. My all-time worsts:

I'd like to re-lay this story, if I could right noooowww.

I was doing The March of Dimes celebrity tennis tournament, back in Santa Barbaraaaaaa.. And my partner was Bill Cosby, and right before the match, Bill told me he was a big fan of my work. And I said to him that I wish I could return the compliment, but I never liked his work. In "Leonard, Part 6", he was constantly mugging up a storm! I felt like I was watching Stretch Armstrong. I'd say, "Billy! It's film -- take it down a notch."

At first he was mad but, later on, we did a production of "Jurassic Pork" and we've become very tight!

I just start with the assumption that Hunger Games nonsense was meant for a different demographic than the one into which I fall.

Somewhat related though... although maybe not, all the promos they run for the new AMC show Into the Badlands, they talk about it like it's a post-apocalyptic world. And there are no guns! They've been banned or something.

As violent as the previews are, you would think SOMEBODY would get the idea that having a gun would be, I don't know, maybe sorta a good idea?

Anyhoo, I have 0 interest in the thing. Good grief, I need Julie Andrews to twirl around in the Alps to express how few f**ks I give for that show.

At first I picked the paper up expecting some hippie BS. However, the further along I got, this guy seemed to have and ax to grind with the city council and some shady deal with them trading land across the county line toward Hendersonville. Seemed pretty conservative.

Maybe a psycho. IDK.

Yeah, Tea Leoni was very good in that.
But I always get a kick out of these movies where they have someone like Paz Vega (100% super-white Euro) play a mestiza. Then her kid is actually Meso-American, doesn't even look related!

They did the same thing with "Under the Same Moon." Cute little mestizo boy with a paleface mom (Kate Castillo) who is supposedly oppressed because raaaacist!

Mike, you seriously need to write a response letter, and this is what you should say:

“What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.#8221;

Yeah; yeah.

I have ranted a few times about baby names on here but never expressed myself well. For that, I received a round mocking by the horde, who are quite good at it.

But really: if you don't name your kids after people in your family that came before, you're rejecting tradition, the past, continuity, and family. Inventing some new name you thought of when you were 14 making your friendship bracelet is no excuse for inflicting it on a child. Get a hamster.

307 From what I understand, the Hunger Games books are about oppression, cruelty, lack of freedom, etc all in a velvet glove of supposed caring and government kindness, so useful for kids to consider. The films turned it into a setting of evil rich white people oppressing poor people. Since I've not read the books and only seen the first movie, I don't really know how accurate that is.
