It's a balmy 31 degrees here on the Eastern MA coast, Vic. The local weatherguessers claim we'll see a Warming Trend in a day or so, meaning we'll get into the 50s. Maybe.
Of course they're also saying we won't have as much snow this winter, either. Which would be okay with me, as I considered last winter's total of more than ten feet slightly excessive.

Link is to year-old Chicago shooting. Of course, cynical old me says that they held it until after the nice rioting weather and the elections. Rahm almost didn't make it.
Anyway, I am concerned because we got a really nice submersible that is used often with all the little lakes and creeks in our area. Much more efficient and safe for rescue than volunteer canoes and rowboats. Looks kinda like a monster truck with armor and it is very practical. Hope we don't have to give it up.

While the overall point is good, the example is, to me, an all too common concession to the left. Why, when listing great accomplishments, do we always hear about great poets and sculptors, when we should be talking about the great scientists and engineers that will get us to new worlds, develop foods to more easily feed humanity, and cure horrible diseases. Art is an indulgence, granted by a society that becomes successful due to other, greater accomplishments. I'll trade "The Raven" for a cure for diabetes any day, or even "David" for safe, effective flight within our solar system.

I do think prayer can be a force against ISIS through God' answering action but that's not the same as meditation. I don't get a sense that the journalists meditation is connected with God in any way-just sort of Eastern sort of practice-more about him and how he feels than any higher power.
I also think carnal warfare is called for-whether than means bombing them or cutting off their means of financial support or both.

We had a service of thanksgiving last night in which the priest inserted prayers to stop the violence of these madmen. We also prayed for them, as we are instructed.

Unbelievably, we have seen some of the worst of human nature on display since the Paris attacks, along with some of the best. Consciously-or-unconsciously-racist politicians, either cynically exploiting xenophobia or manifesting it themselves, have called for some of ISIS's most devastated victims --- innocent civilians in Syria --- to be victimized again, denied shelter in a country that once lifted up a lamp beside the golden door.
Nope - ISIS's most devastated victims are long gone after being burned alive, drowned, beheaded (and their head used as a soccer ball), crucified, gang raped and beaten, and on and on.
And keeping ISIS's deed in mind, saying that people who don't want Syrian refugees are displaying "some of the worst of human nature" really, REALLY misses the point.

Hi ya BackwardsBoy. Playing Saturday night. Very small town. The entire afternoon/evening will be a small town holiday party. Cocoa, snores and such in the park for the lighting ceremony then the gig in a little, reopened bar (to help kickstart the business) that seats about 50.
Expecting about 100.
And trust me, these folks have loved us for 20 years plus. Three generations of fans.
And they know how to have a good time.

How about meditating on/lobbying for them to go to a nearby Muslim country where they will feel much more at home? When I pray I keep my requests open-ended instead of asking for the solution that I think is best. Does meditation work differently?

Brining works this way: An additional flavor profile (I substitute apple juice for most of the water in a brine) and as a preliminary step for smoking the turkey for up to three hours using low heat (I finish the roasting in the oven). I also apply a rub on the turkey before smoking.
