1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Monday, November 09, 2015. On this day in 1970 the Supreme Court voted 6 to 3 against hearing a case to allow Massachusetts to enforce its law granting residents the right to refuse military service in an undeclared war. This nullification law was passed for the sole purpose of trying to force the Supreme Court to rule directly on the Constitutionality of the Vietnam War. The ruling by the court was based on lack of jurisdiction.

7 Did you know that Obama has a team of 20 people who are paid for by the taxpayers to improve his on-line image through social media websites? Maybe we should have a name for people like this and a name for these kinds of actions. I believe this type of crap was invented by Obama's old political hack who is now mayor of Chicago. Astro-something or other. But why are we paying for it?

The new governor of Kentucky, a Conservative Republican, will tell the EPA to pound sand. He said he is a strict Constitutionalist and he will not allow Barack Obama to destroy the coal industry in Kentucky. One of the most powerful weapons he has as governor, he said is the Tenth Amendment

Good sentiments but I say good luck with that. Past court rulings have used the crappy worded 14th amendment and political stretch to basically invalidate the 10th amendment.

Today is, as Vic notes, November 9th. It is the traditional day of the Lord Mayor's parade in London. It is also the day when, in 1888, the last canonical victim of Jack the Ripper, Mary Jane Kelly, was found razored to death in her squalid Whitechapel room at 13 Miller's Court.

The books on the Ripper murders are as numerous as snowflakes. The best overall view, IMO, is Philip Sugden's The Complete History of Jack the Ripper. Sugden was a historian who looked at the murders from that viewpoint, rather than being a theorist who had a suspect and tried to jam him into the frame. The book came out a number of years ago and so is not au fait with the latest developments in the field, but is still worth a read.

If you want something shorter, I recommend either Paul Begg's Jack the Ripper: The Uncensored Facts or Donald Rumbelow's The Complete Jack the Ripper.

And I guess I'll hawk my own book on Saucy Jack, The News From Whitechapel:

42 The socialist agitation at UM about the atmosphere of hate and racism on campus has a different feel to it. Seems more pernicious than usual, not sure why that is. Almost like it is similar to the Red Guards and how they became so out of control on the campuses of China that even the commie govt couldn't control them after they were unleashed. I do know the university is bending over backward to confirm the charges that the institution they lead is full of racist haters. They mistakenly believe this will save them and put them on the side of "good" against "evil". Suckers.

The district moved to ban suspensions amid national concern that they
imperil academic achievement and disproportionately affect minorities,
particularly African Americans.

If by "national concern" they mean Choom Boy and thug members of his favorite Oppressed Minority, they have it right.

If they refer to normal humans who want their children educated in a safe place, not so much.

54 Also in California, voters buying into the leftist Narrative (a.k.a. Myth) that most of the people in prison were non-violent drug offenders who could be released safely because they were no threat to society ... are slowly learning that "non-violent" offenders actually are a threat to society (or at least to poor people who don't live in gated communities with private security).

Criminals have learned that since they won't be jailed for stealing less than $950 worth of other people's property, they just make sure they steal less than $950 dollars of other people's property at a time.

59 From the ONT...

I am more worried the effect this generation of students will have on the real world. We are breeding a generation whose first impulse is to appeal to power, and to demand that "the Man" crush people that the local majority finds offensive, or out of step, or in some undifferentiated way non-conforming in their ideas.

What this is, is the psychological equivalent of "running to Mommy." As is documented nearly every day, kollidges are filled with coddled, immature little brats who haven't been taught how life works out here in the real world.

Everybody wanted a feminist society. Well, you imbeciles got what you wanted. Happy now?

Deliberately not reporting crimes committed by students because they had found that black students were committing a disproportionately high percentage of the crimes (and we don't want people to know that blacks are more likely to be criminals, because that will just add to the stereotype that blacks are more likely to be criminals!).

That's why, instead of being in a juvenile detention center for all his burglary crimes, little Trayvon was smoking weed and casing the neighborhood of his daddy's girlfriend when he had his fatal encounter with Zimmerman. So it was really PC that killed little Trayvon. If he'd been in a detention center where he belonged, he'd never have been shot dead on that rainy night.

pernicious than usual, not sure why that is. Almost like it is similar
to the Red Guards and how they became so out of control on the campuses

unleashed. I do know the university is bending over backward to confirm

87 Puerto Rico classically falls into 3 camps each with about 1/3 support for independence, statehood, and status quo. Shortly after TFG came to power, he tried to game the system by giving the Ricans two choices to vote on -- independence or statehood. He failed to get that one shoved through.

And I say "classically" because who knows how the support lies right now, since the whole place is bankrupt and is defaulting on their bonds. And every Rican with means is bailing out to Florida. Don't worry though, as TFG and Congress will conduct a midnight rescue party using our tax dollars sometime in the near future; probably around T-Giving or Xmas. Whenever the press is lightest.

expensive than fissile fuels, around 15%. No f**g way that an be
true. Especially if you strip away the web of subsides and taxes and
get down to real costs.

Oh, taxes. You mean there are already
taxes on fossil fuels? Royalties? Never heard of them. In fact
(according top the liberal talking points) fossil fuels are subsidized. I
have never heard any details on the alleged subsidy but it is because
they were permitted the same capital equipment accelerated depreciation
tax break every other company uses. Big words I doubt any liberal

About 8 or 10 years ago I read a story about how all the coffee growers in Puerto Rico were desperate for employees to pick their coffee beans. Their crops were rotting on the vine, because nobody would take the picking jobs. The jobs were advertised all over the place, but nobody wanted them, despite the high level of unemployment in PR.

Turned out that the coffee jobs paid about the same as the U.S. welfare checks that most of the PRs were receiving. They figured why get off their asses and go do an actual job when they could just kick back on the couch and wait for their U.S. welfare checks to arrive.

PR has one of the highest levels (per capita) of welfare dependency of any state or territory in the U.S. A huge number of Puerto Ricans fund their daily existence with some type of U.S. welfare check(s). And our idiotic government just keeps running the printing presses, pretending that this type of insanity can continue forever. Even as I write this, the congress is considering a huge bailout for PR bonds, to cover years of PR over-spending. It's absolute lunacy, but they just won't stop.

105 AMMAN - Two American military personnel and one South African were killed and six others injured when a Jordanian officer went on a shooting spree on Monday at a US-funded security training facility near Amman, Jordan's government spokesman said.

Mohammad Momani also told Reuters the attacker had been shot dead shot by Jordanian security forces and did not commit suicide as security sources had earlier said.

The six injured included another two Americans, one critically wounded. The incident took place in a facility that mainly trains Iraqi and Palestinian forces in Muaqar on the eastern outskirts of the capital Amman.

Jordan is a staunch US ally and part of the Washington-led coalition that is trying to defeat Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, both of which border Jordan.

The country hosts several hundred US trainers who are part of a military program to bolster the kingdom's defenses, including the stationing of F16 fighter jets that use Jordanian airfields to hit Islamic State positions in Syria.

But the kingdom's role in the war against Islamic State has caused disquiet among some Jordanians worried about instability at their borders and fearing that a stepped-up role in the campaign might lead to Islamist attacks in their country.

King Abdullah believes fervently that ultra hardline jihadists pose an existentialist threat to the kingdom.

148 Conservative Treehouse (Their motto these days is Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump) made a very interesting point this weekend -- If you change your voter registration from Republican to Independent or none, depending on state, you are giving up your voice in the primaries. And which candidates does this help? The Establishment ones.

http://tinyurl.com/o5aceh7

Another reason to check your state's rules is the direct election of Electors in the Electoral College. If you are voting for someone in the primary, don't ignore the electors, pledged to the first round at the party convention. I can't tell you how many times I have had to explain this to people.

187 Another thing to make you go hmmm.

This American Thinker piece I read this weekend made a highly valid and yet unexpected point -- An Austin news outlet did an investigative study and found that Texas troopers were under-reporting the number of Hispanics they were pulling over.

Okay, probably true, if you consider that the troopers are going to be in deep shit with the DOJ if they 'disparately' stop too many minorities. So they tend to err on the side of don't get my ass in a sling and call everyone they stop White. Can't get in trouble for stopping Whites, ya know. Makes sense. But here comes the unexpected part --

If the false record keeping in Texas is part of a national trend, it of course means that national crime statistics are deeply flawed - and that soaring crime rates attributed to Hispanics and blacks are even worse than what current statistics reveal.

200 My response to AGW zealots:

Ignaz Semmelweis, a Hungarian physician, in the 1840's, years before germ theory was postulated by Pasteur and others, observed that medical doctors would go directly from the necropsy room into the Maternity Ward and deliver babies. Post-partum infection rates were incredibly high and incredibly lethal. Instituting a program of hand washing resulted in dramatic decrease in infection rates.

He was ridiculed by "scientific authorities" and hounded out of the profession, later committed to an insane asylum when he persisted in trying to make his case.

The science was settled, you see.

I use a pair of tin snips, cut the ends off a soda can, open it up to a flat rectangle about 3 inches by six inches, fold over 1/2 inch twice at the top, poke hole in this reinforced strip for hanging. At the other end bend the corners slightly, in opposite directions, creating about a 1-1/2" bent tab for a propeller type effect. Hang this on a string or cord from the eaves near where the woodpeckers are doing their thing. (Use a fishing swivel so it rotates freely in the breeze).

Some of you may recall that, earlier this year, two police officers were murdered in Hattiesburg MS. Late last week, the teenaged daughter of one of the slain officers died, apparently due to a brief illness.

Why isn't the student government president being called upon to renounce his black privilege?

.We had that same issue when we lived in CT with cedar shake shingles, the woodpeckers were destroying our house. I got some pepper spray the kind that shoots a stream out about 20-25 feet and started sneaking up on them and spraying them with that. Eventually they gave up and moved on after a couple of months of chemical warfare. I hit one dead in the face once and he crashed to the ground and stayed there for quite some time. And they have some very weird ideas too, but so may leftists are so unhappy despite having power and influence. We all have struggles and difficulties and can get depressed but if one's religion doesn't make one- generally speaking- more content and happier and moving to be a better person what's the point? Yes, Jesus talked about the life to come but that certainly wasn't all his message was about. That's why we should pray for their (leftists) spiritual conversion too.

301 >>Are woodpeckers pecking at your home a bad thing?

Ugh, I had one enamored with my metal kitchen exhaust vent a few summers ago. Ping!, ping!, ping!, ping! every dang morning at about 6:45 am.

That's why they get the government goons to do it for them. They'll just nudge the cattle ranchers and pig farmers out of business, or nudge restaurants to change their menus, or nudge the grocery stores to make it more difficult to purchase (maybe scary skull-and-crossbones labels?(, and remove it from all they places they can control - prisons, federal office delis, military, etc.

306 Mr. Priebus may be (and probably is) pretty much clueless about the base, but I have to admit that the last debat was an absolute brilliant piece of strategy.

The moderators were so over the top, even much of the rest of the MSM couldn't deny that there was some basis for complaints about media bias.

And not to mention, that it was the media which ended up with egg n their collective faces while the candidates ended up smelling like roses.

Brilliant, I say. Perhaps inadvertant on Mr. priebus' part tho...
