I was President of my HOA for 5 3 year terms. I made sure residents were protected from stupidity and some good things happened. Some of my efforts was self-defense to keep my home values up. I managed to have fun, for the most part.
It's all parking, pets, and people with a small municipal budget. For conservative leaders, it's a snap.

A lot of communities have local codes that will take care of stuff like that w/o having to have a HOA that turns into a busy-body. I know even the little southern town near where I live has a code that call for people to maintain their lot in a clean and orderly manner. And if they don't the city can clean it up and charge the owner for the work.

One property that is a huge problem has taken over 18 months for the Town to even start leveling fines, let alone going in and bulldozing the place. That's going to take at least six months or more to get done, and then the Town is on the hook for all of the $$$ because the property owner is broke.

.That's exactly what they are doing here but they have to follow State Laws which is what is taking the time. Once that is done they will put the property up for auction but I doubt they will get any buyers. The house will be condemned most likely and will have to be torn down. It isn't a huge lot and I doubt anyone who buys it will actually be able to make any money in the long run, so the Town will have to suck it up, tear the house down and take ownership of the property.

Houston is not representative of Texas as a whole. In every State, the same thing. Large cities are distinctly blue, and rural areas are distinctly red. Even in Texas, this is true. We've just got a lot more open land than we do major cities.

They'll also "refute the claim that Jews are 'violently invading' al-Aqsa Mosque and holding prayers at the Temple Mount," he adds. Because Jews are doing no such thing.
Let everyone see reality, and you'd wreck the charade that's fueled the violence. No wonder Israel wants the cameras pronto.

The only reason I'd ever change my name was if I was leaving the country and suspicious that there'd be an effort by some future ruling regime to track me down for doing so. Wouldn't be the first time my family did something like that. One branch was apparently once minor nobility in Germany, and anglicized the title while throwing the house and place names under the bus. It's kind of a toss-up between Carson, Trump, and Cruz with me right now. Each has some pretty strong qualifications, but also has some pretty strong warning flags.
Carson's is that I worry about him with regard to immigration, which is the must-win issue. The flood has to stop before the waters can be drained. Trump's is pretty obvious, he's quite possibly more opportunist than true believer, thus has a chance of going rogue. Cruz might already be rogue, his record was flawless until TPP, but his support for it has really made me worry about him.

Four cats + dog all ran outside this morning, so I got to prepare their food without hassling cats at my feet. That was unusual.
The doe that has been grazing in the yard in the mornings brought a friend today. Dog doesn't seem interested in chasing them anymore. The diseased vermin are cute, as they eyeball me, wiggle their ears, and go back to their breakfast.

Hardwood is nice but for a kitchen floor it has a lot of minuses. It can scratch, dent, show wear from traffic patterns, is slippery when wet, and - depending on finish -- can easily stain.
I'll take a good old-fashioned slate floor with none of those issues. In the proverbial battle of pickle jar vs slate, after ten years, pickle jar has yet to score a victory.

IMHO, the reason the GOPe leadership hates him so much is he didn't stay bought.
Cruz was IIRC vice chair to the RNSC during the 14 midterms and supplied around a quarter million to such wonderful efforts like KY and MS. He vacated the vice chair *after* and stepped up his criticisms *after*.
I do think he sees how awful all of it was and a lot of what he's doing is penance, but it shouldn't be forgotten either.

We had hardwood put into the kitchen, hearth room and breakfast nook. It was the type that was sanded and finished after installation and I've never been happy with it.
When I built my son's house, we put in pre-finished hardwood and it came out beautiful.

It's already at a point where there's several countries where the majority of military-age men are immigrants from Muslim nations. We have a property that we have been trying to clean up for years. One tenant was a hoarder. In the process of cleanup, Code Enforcement cited us. We had the two weeks before our wedding to cleanup some lumber stored there.
Code Enforcement guy asked us if we'd like a wedding present. They gave us a 40 yard dumpster to use for no charge. A friend got a crew for us and filled it. We called several times to make sure we were okay but never heard back from them. It was the nicest thing the County has ever done for us.

Yeah, about that. Right after getting married and we were living in an apartment, the lady next door got WIC. They moved and WIC kept showing up at the door. They just left the milk and cheese outside the door. Called the WIC people and I think it took them another two weeks before deliveries stopped. We did enjoy the free dairy though.

When you burn a hydrocarbon, there is water formed as a product of that combustion, and that water did not exist as such prior to the combustion. Obviously there was water consumed in the creation of that hydrocarbon (and oxygen liberated), but the odds that the hydrogen and oxygen that made up that water will be reunited days, years, or centuries later are pretty slim.

I think that a collapse of the communications network would be needed. TV, Internet, smart phones, those are the strings on the puppets. Once folks have to look around them and think for themselves instead of relying on the hive mind in the digital cloud, we see who can and can't be salvaged.
Western as a descriptor encompasses Constitutionalist. The Constitution is pretty much one of the high water marks of Western thought, and the pinaccle of Western law. You could use the word without fear, it wouldn't invalidate your larger label.
True to some extent, but such faith in the works of Man isn't in my nature. Plus I hold for more than the document--the culture is the thing that made the document possible, and whose fading makes it meaningless.

But for smaller, unintrusive government to work, there has to be a shift from external control (government laws and constraints) to internal control (morals and values). My point is that you cannot have an operating conservative small government with maximum individual freedom without internal self-control. And I think by and large we are losing that.

There are other rules about how long stuff can stay in your cart while still giving him credit. The most important one, IMHO, is that if you click a link from another blog with an affiliate program (e.g., Instapundit), they will get the $$ until you go through this blog's link again.

Exactly - though we don't have to be dicks about it. There's nothing stopping people from offering (or even selling) classes on how to be self-reliant. Charity organizations and churches could definitely help pick up the slack in teaching people valuable life skills that the education system neglected. We'll have to be shepherds.

The noise in the system is about 66 db greater than the signal you are looking for, and that is with 1 meter peak to peak waves that are perfect and don't fluctuate from cycle to cycle - which of course - they do. About the only way of reducing that noise would be to amplify the common mode signal by having multiple measuring stations. Doubling the number of stations improves the signal to noise ratio by 3 db so to reduce the noise to 10 db below the signal would require a common mode gain of 76 db. That would take 2 raised to the 25.33 power or about 4,200,000 measuring stations.
My guess is the alleged rise is computer simulated and not actually measured.
