It is a method of defamiliarization of common sense. Problematization is a critical thinking and pedagogical dialogue or process and may be considered demythicisation. Rather than taking the common knowledge (myth) of a situation for granted, problematization poses that knowledge as a problem, allowing new viewpoints, consciousness, reflection, hope, and action to emerge. What may make problematization different from other forms of criticism is its target, the context and details, rather than the pro or con of an argument. More importantly, this criticism does not take place within the original context or argument, but draws back from it, re-evaluates it, leading to action which changes the situation. Rather than accepting the situation, one emerges from it, abandoning a focalised viewpointFootnotes omitted, italics maintained. The "defamiliarization of common sense" -- rather a too-accurate description of the process. The process is of course one intended to undermine the assumptions of the eternal Class Enemy, the bourgeoisie, a people who have made it, relatively, in the world, and therefore are champions of the existing order. If only their innate common sense could be challenged and replaced with a different view of the world; if only they could see everything as problematic, as the Class Warriors of the New Left do. The Washington Post here is engaging in overt class warfare here, propagandizing people to "problematize" the world, and every tiny itty-bitty nit of it, so that they'll reject capitalism, and marriage, and fossil fuels, and, by God, one day even upscale breakfast sandwiches. Thus this deeply silly piece sets out to defamiliarize your common sense. Your common sense might tell you -- "What do I care if someone wants to pay $11.50 for a stupid upscale breakfast sandwich with expensive imported cheese?" But this common sense must be estranged from the viewer, so that what he really sees is a Troubling Concern of National Importance -- this pricey egg sandwich is actually a violent appropriation of Proletarian food culture.

There's more to this than egg, cheese, and meat. (Stew Milne/AP) [no there's not, asshole -- ace.] Earlier this year, New York Times food critic Pete Wells was moved to write 841 words about breakfast sandwiches. It was a love letter of sorts, an ooey gooey ode to the most basic form of one of the most basic morning foods. But it was -- was about to open in Manhattan, and he was less than pleased. Breakfast sandwiches, Wells explained, are nothing if not practical, prepared quickly and eaten on the go, stuffed with modest ingredients and sold at a reasonable price. No matter how nice the cheese or expensive the bacon, he wrote, nothing would ever live up to the original, no-frills sandwich: "the classic and possibly highest formulation: bacon, scrambled eggs and cheese on a roll." And yet here was a trendy new spot, readying itself to sell fancy pants egg sandwiches at four times the normal price. That is, for as much as $11.50. Wells's angst was the angst of anyone who feels queasy about the upscalification (yes, that's a made-up word) of anything originally made by and for the working class. And it's well founded. The most salient thing about BEC isn't, of course, that it exists, but rather that it's not really an outlier. Much to the chagrin of bacon, egg and cheese purists everywhere, breakfast sandwiches have been moving upscale for quite sometime.
It goes on for several hundred dreary words more, each soggier with socialism than the last. Charles C.W. Cooke asked a good question:
"The growth of the more premium part of the market for breakfast sandwiches is something we've been looking at for a while," said James Russo, who is the senior vice president of global consumer insights at Nielsen, a market research firm. "It's really resonating with wealthier consumers." Over the past five years, high-end and mid-scale restaurants have become particularly fond of adding new fried egg concoctions to their menus, swapping in bitter greens, spicy aiolis, and hard-to-pronounce cheeses. As a result, more than 63 percent of all fine dining establishments and 66 percent of their mid-level counterparts now offer at least one breakfast sandwich, according to data from market research firm Nielsen. That's almost the same menu penetration that breakfast sandwiches enjoy at fast food restaurants, where it's just shy of 70 percent. The stratification of breakfast sandwiches is, in some ways, unsurprising. "Chefs have a history of taking everyday foods and elevating them," Russo explained. "It's a natural progression for many things. So the breakfast sandwich can be seen as one of the latest examples of this." Hamburgers, Russo says, are another food that has undergone a similar transformation....

Okay, her ya go. My dad died a month and a half ago. He was on blood pressure medication and lived up to 97 years and 11 months. Up until a little over a month of his death he was still able to go back and forth with his walker.

Also you're sitting heart rate will go down and I believe that this adds years to your life and also ease wrinkles.
Everyone should get tested no matter their age. I first had some wacky symptoms at 50ish and went on them and am damn glad I did. Watch out for some of the drugs, they have some quirky side effects and some of them the DR's don't think of first off. I had problems with metoprolol and once off it, I could tell the difference.

This weekend I made perfect scrambled eggs, oven-roasted pecan-smoked bacon, served with pumkin pecan bread (I purchased at Sam's Club) to die for. Oh, and rounded it out with fruit salad.

Don't laugh. I've tried switching my dog from the premium dog food to the low rent grocery store crap. Every day at 7 she would lay down on the floor next to the couch and pass gas. It was pretty awful. Also, the poops from the cheap dogfood were bigger and looser. No shit.

tortillas: for wheat tortillas (the ones you usually want to use for burritos), get the uncooked ones in the store. Some brands require refrigeration, some only so after opening. Anyway, hot skillet (cast iron or regular), 2-3 minutes on it, flip once, voila.
For corn tortillas, similar option available, though heavy very hot cast iron skilled makes more difference with those. Really though, very easy and simple, as long as you have stores with the right kind of tortillas.

Make a bunch and freeze them. I do this with all sorts of things cause I'm single and there's always leftovers.
I take a gallon tub of ice cream and split it into portions and then add different toppings and then freeze them. When I want some ice cream, it's already there just a touch of magic waves so I don't crack my teeth and it's ready.
Same for other stuff it's easier to do big batches than one at a time.
Saves money makes life a bit more satisfying when you put away some stuff for later.

Breakfast sandwich.
At home I can make bagel sandwiches that rival anything I've had from commercial outfits. Decent bagel, round-shaped microwave bowl about the same diameter, bacon/ham/turkey your choice, cheese slices of whatever variety. I put some fresh-snipped rosemary and oregano in the egg before micro'ing it; place on bottom half of lightly toasted bagel, then meat, then cheese, then top of bagel. Then back in micro for 30-50 seconds, just til cheese starts to melt (but before the micro re-hydrates the bread, which it tends to do).
Killer. And about 3-4 min. of effort.

The only knock on e-cigs that I've heard that even sounds legit is from my cardiologist. Evidently there's been an uptick in bacterial respiratory infections that are being linked to e-cigs; the thing is, he says it's primarily because people don't periodically sanitize the e-cig.

Have been on short-term insurance, and gaps without any coverage, since Jan. 2014 (thanks, 52% and SCOTUS!!!!). First time in my life, of course. First time health "insurance" was even an actual topic or merited much attention, even though it had long since been inflated by regulation, oligopoly, welfare, etc.
Closest apples/apples coverage after O-care kicked in was TRIPLE the previous cost. Oh, yes.
Actually have to look and see what ridiculous price they are asking now. Also need to see what my next short-term work-around will be.
I wore myself out asking this question last year - but how the f**k did this, easily the largest, fastest, most dramatic and important artificial cost increase in anyone's life in modern history (for those on private plans), not generate even a tiny blip of interest in the press or society or politics?

Only thing saving me is that my husband's company had a "Retiree Medical Account" which is helping a whole lot. Sony Records is releasing a set of Bob Dylan studio outtakes and rarities next month, and it's available in four different versions. The cheapest is a 2-disc set for $20, and the most expensive is an 18-disc set with hardcover book and other bells and whistles for $600. There are two other sets that are in between.
In a discussion thread at Amazon, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth: Waaah! I want the 18-disc set but I can't afford it! It's so unfair!
There were so many class envy type comments that I had to speak up. Paraphrasing, it went something like this: "I can't afford a Porsche, but do I resent people who can? No. Do I resent Porsche for catering to that upscale market? No.
"Last year I bought a Mazda. While I couldn't afford a Porsche, I could have bought something more expensive than a Mazda, like, say, an Acura. But all I really need is basic transportation, and a Mazda suits me fine.
"So guess what? I ordered the 18-disc version. I can afford it in part *because* I bought a cheaper car. The beauty of the free market is that we can choose to spend our money on things that are important to us."
I got a couple of positive reactions to that comment, so I hope at least some people got it.

I hope Jim Webb withstands the temptation, when hearing Hillary lie flagrantly about her emails, of throwing his Navy Cross at her head.
I hope Lincoln Chafee isn't so high he can't get through his explanation of how the BIG issue for 2016 is ....the metric system.
I hope Martin O'Malley will explain how he saved Baltimore, then Maryland, by locking up insane numbers of black people.
I hope Bernie Sanders will explain how, coming from a state that's 1/2 farmers and 1/2 NYC refugees, 99% of them white, he's a soul brother.
I hope Hillary Clinton will explain how she' s the "outsider" choice despite being the most connected plutocrat in the race. Also: Email?

The old left worked from the idea that the great sin of ages is inequality, and moved to assure that there would be equal access to the material goods in life. and decried the philosophy of religion that would promise benefits in the afterlife to allow the proletariat to forgo having material benefits in this world.
The new left works from the idea of enforced equality, and mocks the material goods freely available as being harmful to the psychological and emotional health of the society.
The left has gone from mocking with songs of "you will have pie in the sky when you die" to using them as hymns.
