All I need to know about government I learned in business. When I started out there were two people employed in manufacturing for every one government 'worker'.
They have now flipped those numbers. They hated manufacturing with a fucking vengeance. Clinton sold American workers jobs out to the Chinese in return for campaign contributions from Chinese waiters with thousand dollar checks. Now they want to flood the country with undocumented democrats while shits like Boehner and Mitch smile complacently. I have had no party which has represented me since Reagan left office. She bragged that she help found the Paul Robeson Center (never heard of it). And while I enjoy Mr. Robeson's singing, always resented the fact that many blacks immigrated to the soviet union because of him and died horrible deaths. Anyway, out of curiosity I looked at the big election website. They have all these people endorsing candidates who are extremely rich. Repurposed content from the ONT:
I live in the Philadelphia suburbs, and as you may have heard, the Pope is visiting Philly this weekend. I work in a printing shop, and this week a customer ordered 6000 souvenir Pope trading cards. You know, like baseball cards. He intends to sell them to the tourists. The color printer that I was going to print them on had some problems, and I had to call a service technician twice. Meanwhile the clock was ticking. Needless to say, this was a very time-sensitive job. Finally, on Thursday afternoon, I ran the job, and the guy who operated the cutting machine finished cutting them just before he left at 4:30 with the customer standing there waiting. It was a near-run thing. The customer also had T-shirts made up elsewhere, and he gave one to each of us. He seemed to be satisfied with the cards. Now, I'm not Catholic, and I'm certainly not a fan of this particular Pope. But a gift is a gift, and I thanked him and wished him luck selling his stuff. I have no intention of going into the city this weekend to brave the crowds and traffic to see the Pope. I've laid in stocks of food, booze, and smokes, so I do not have to leave the house at all and can quietly hunker down. At first I could not envision a scenario where I would ever wear the T-shirt. I figured that I would put it away in a drawer and forget about it. But now I've decided to wear it today while mowing the lawn. It's likely that nobody will see it or notice. But if one person drives by and does a double take, it will be worth it. "Huh? Why is that guy wearing a Pope shirt but isn't downtown watching the Pope? Did he go into the city this morning just to buy a shirt, and then went back home to mow his lawn? WTF is up with that?" Posted by: rickl at September 26, 2015 09:41 AM (sdi6R) 63

Hat and coat hooks. Used to be everywhere. Now you have to cram the hat down on the seat beside you. My favorite was leaving my hat ('though I didn't know where) at a New Mexican restaurant in Tulsa. Months later, we went back, and there was my hat sitting on top of a big fake sagurro (sp? the ones that look like people with their arms out) cactus. Just took a walk around the motel parking lot. Big Classic Cars gathering here. Old geezers all around, carefully wiping and dusting off their amazing vehicles. Beautiful machines. I remember Pope John Paul II visiting Philly back in the 80s. I was younger and maybe wasn't paying attention, but I don't recall them making such a big honking deal about it. Posted by: rickl at September 26, 2015 10:13 AM (sdi6R) we can talk about the Pope, or we can talk about Hillary, Boehner, inflation, cost of medical care, what China is doing, illegal aliens, sharia law, domestic spying, betrayal of Israel, betrayal of Ukraine, betrayal of the Baltic states, destruction of the military through PC thought, VA abuse, NSA abuse, failure of the TSA, the selling of Congress to the highest bidders in a cartel, Dilma Rousseff being threatened with impeachment, a comedian being the front runner in the upcoming Nicaraguan elections, Polio like diseases being brought in by illegal aliens, ISIS terror cells, civil forfeiture... THERE IS ONLY SO MUCH TIME IN THE DAY! So, it is the Pope. Dammit, we would have loved to have touched on the other things, but we have to stay relevant. I'll answer in the nood since this thread is now dead.

A big story here yeasterday was the new-ish mayor of Boston's idea to help ease traffic congestion in the city.

I caught Stossel last night, and had my daughter watch them. She actually found them to as depressing as they are funny, but she probably still doesn't get some of the humor.
It's a great concept, even if its 40 years overdue, and is well done. Posted by: Optimizer at September 26, 2015 11:25 AM (/q6+P) Processing 0.03, elapsed 0.0415 seconds. |
