5 Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, September 26, 2015. On this day in 1933 gangster Machine Gun Kelly surrendered to the FBI, shouting out, "Don't shoot, G-Men!", which became a nickname for FBI agents. He and his wife were both sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping. He died in prison of a heart attack. Oddly enough, I can find no evidence that he ever actually shot anyone with his machine gun.

18 Rumors fly that Boner has cut a "deal" with Obama to avoid a government shutdown. So he will give away everything once again for a bag of beans and a shit pot of "worthless promises". Republicans are the only ones that Obama can "negotiate" with and come out ahead. That is because they come prepared to surrender.

19 And speaking of Republican surrendering, Cruz said they came fully prepared to do that on the PP halt in funding for one year. I noted yesterday that they refused to use the nuclear option on the budget bill when Democrats blocked it in the Senate. That nuclear option was in fact designed for budget bills, not judicial appointments as the Democrats used it.

The American flight I was on should have been an Air India flight. Half the passengers were Indian. Almost half the crew was. The served Curried Chicken for dinner. Seriously.

Wish he was better at doing his actual job, which (in case he or anyone else has forgotten) is working in the Senate for the people who elected him. He manages to be off somewhere else when the SHTF (TPP, Iranian nukes, etc.), but can always pop off good lines when speechifying. Well, except when anyone asks him about his desire to crank up the H1B visa machine.

He needs to change his ways. Strange question. I will admit that most of the people for whom I have voted were not exactly stellar performers, and a few have been real duds. But no one else here can say anything different.

Does that mean I have to go all rah-rah for candidates who are, IMO, continuations of the pathetic lineage of U.S. presidents post-Reagan? If that's going to be the standard, might as well do a Poppin' Fresh and push for Heb!, who is at least a Safe, Mainstream Candidate sure to make the GOPe happy.

I have never understood how people can work themselves into a state of quasi-religious ecstasy for any candidate, as so many did/do for Choom Boy, Shrillery, Trump, Cruz, Fiorina, etc. They are seeking a JOB, FFS. They are, though even they might deny it, humans with the normal complement of strengths and weaknesses.

So while I, like damn near everyone else, will probably end up holding my nose and stifling nausea in the voting booth a year from November, I'd still like to see the best possible Chief Executive emerge from the snuffling herd. Unless he starts showing me some heretofore-unseen Mad Skillz, I don't think Cruz is the guy.

True. A US Air guy I know said he was not surprised. He said every flight from LHR is an Indian express flight. They can get tourist visas and they never leave.
He said the biggest problem for US Air is over half don't speak any English and you need an Indian crew member to talk to them. I guess that explains the Indian crew.

He could get out of his Yugo and sop up the blood with his garments. That's what Jesus would do.

Satan though, he'd hobnob with politicians, mislead the faithful with lies, and pretend to be a humble servant, spouting communist bullsh*t.

84 I believe Cruz is deliberately serving in the role of "that guy." You know the one, he's the lightning rod, the Cassandra, mouthing off on the sidelines. Meanwhile, the REAL candidate (or when he's on the Senate floor, the real caucus) does its thing.

I think Cruz tried to be on both sides: keep the TEA party happy but placate McConnell.

It didn't work.

87 Meh.

I don't get the Cruz hate.

Especially, without putting forth a better option.

You know, an actual candidate-

not John Q ImaginaryPerfectconservativePresident

what only exists in your mind.

If your criticism is "he's a politician"...well good luck.

Everyone up there including Carson has to be a pretty good politician to get in that position.

While I'd like to see Cruz win, I'm okay with The Donald or winning.

However, instead of silly mean-girl games I'd like these debates to include simple direct questions to all the candidates-

concerning illegal aliens, border security, A Wall - yes or no?, H1B visas, global warming - real or no?, economy destroying -"green" initiatives - yes or no?,
complete repeal of Obamacare with restoration of market driven reforms - yes or no?, etc.

But....Nope.

FOXNews set the tone with Megs and her silly gotcha! games.

So, mean girls it is.

There's a difference between "hating" Cruz and thinking he's not the right choice. I feel no personal animus toward the guy -- well, no more than I do for any political hack who's too busy playing the Washington Game to do his job properly -- and don't see the need to brand criticism of him as "hate."

92 "Lefties will take anyone advancing their agenda"

Which person running now has a track record of advancing even one small part of the Conservative Agenda?

You can argue that both Walker and Perry did at the state level. What has anyone done at the Federal level? Which person has actually forced the donktards to give up anything?

95 @9

I don't have the slightest problem with publishing the names and addresses of welfare recipients. Those people are taking money that was extorted from me at gunpoint. I had no option in paying it. It should be public knowledge where that money went, just as the salaries of elected officials are public knowledge.

Those people who are saying, "It will shame them!" are right. It WILL shame them. Damned good thing, too. You SHOULD be ashamed if you're taking money from the public unless you're too ill to work. If there isn't enough work where you are, move to someplace where there is work.

Maybe if we actually stopped featherbedding conditions for those on welfare, we might be able to get someone to do those "jobs that Americans won't do" so we could tell the open borders bastards to shut the Hell up.

Oh, just for the record, I grew up in Maine in a much poorer county than the one where Lewiston is located. Most people there would have been too embarrassed to take welfare knowing there was work to be had by going out and digging clams or worms. I'd bet a lot of the names on those welfare rolls in Lewiston are local ones like "Mohammed" and "Abdul." The people who had the bright idea to bring Somalis to Maine are going to fight the public revelation of this information tooth and nail because they desperately want to hide how greatly their idiocy worsened an already bad situation.

You have to wonder when people are going to wake up to the reality that a country's citizens make that country the way it is. Want your country to be more like Somalia? Bring some Somalis, because you can bet THEY aren't going to change for YOU; THEY are going to expect and demand that YOU change for THEM. Norway is the way it is because of Norwegians; Somalia is the way it is because of Somalis. Citizens from a garbage dump immediately go to work turning their new country into the same garbage dump they left behind. It's how they are; it's what they do.

96 Aside: I used to work at the plant that made Tang powder. Turns out it's just orangeade, some ground up vitamin pills, and something we called 'cloud'. Cloud had no purpose but to make the drink opaque like orange juice.

I always thought that seemed disingenuous.
