A new Marquette poll of Wisconsin has Scott Walker leading in the state among Republican candidates, but thats about the only good news it brings for the governor.

Presidential candidates are generally expected to carry their home states, but the survey shows Walker trailing Hillary Clinton in a general election by ten points, 52-42, in a hypothetical matchup. Former Florida governor Jeb Bush trails her by five points and Donald Trump trails her by 16.

The executive director of the Louisiana GOP spent $176 on Ashley Madison, a website for people seeking affairs, but he says he wasnt using it to cheat.

Jason Dore acknowledged that his name is on the list released by hackers this week, according to The Times-Picayune. But he said he used the account strictly for "opposition research."

AUGUST 21ST: NATIONAL SENIOR CITIZENS DAY

The GOP establishment's nightmare: What if the race comes down to Trump versus Ted Cruz?

one can dream

hotair.com

Is that what those "secret" chats between Cruz and Trump are about? Some master plan to clear the rest of the GOP field between them? Suddenly I'm imagining a "special message" from Trump next spring, aired live from his office in Trump Tower, in which he reveals that his candidacy was actually part of an elaborate pincer movement to outwit the GOP donor class and pave the way for the man he's really supporting for president -- at which point Ted Cruz steps into frame. Then they both laugh mwa-ha-ha style as Karl Rove, watching from home, leaps to his feet and covers his mouth in astonishment. My God -- it's all so clear now.

ahhh, one can dream

Brig. Gen. Frederick Payne, USMC.

Decorated fighter pilot America's oldest surviving ace has passed away at age 104.

His only brush with death was when returning from a mission, while flying with malaria(!), he passed out after throwing up in his oxygen mask. As his plane dove under 8,000 feet he woke up, recovered and landed without incident.

Of 1,450 credited aces, there are only 71 left.

Well done sir and thank you. Godspeed.

Maine Sign Language Interpreter Has to Pay Nearly $1K in Fees Each Year to Legally Work

Who knew?

http://dailysign.al/1EHjmfk

Arricka Nowland is no stranger to fees.

Fees to renew her certification as an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter in the state of Maine, fees to renew her national certification with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), fees to take required continuing education courses--she's seen and paid them all.

It's all a part of Maine's occupational licensing agenda, or the process by which the state regulates workers, seeking to protect consumers' health and safety interests as well as provide benefits to workers.

It's the second most expensive one.

The first is Cathodic Protection Testers, individuals who ensure corrosion is not affecting various metallic structures, who pay roughly $1,500 per year in fees.

(not linking to Daily Beast but interesting story)
But a Philadelphia woman punched holes in the airtight model this March, alleging that the company "does not help members find the 'best' service
provider, but rather the one who paid the most money to Angie's List."
The
plaintiff, Janell Moore, who filed the class action suit in March, says
she became suspicious of Angie's List after a contractor she hired from
the company failed to finish remodeling her kitchen and refused to
refund her $4,000. Moore claims it was only after leaving a negative
review of the company that she was able to see other negative reviews,
which led her to believe that the rating system wasn't done fairly.

98 My anchor baby solution. Allow a reasonable time for the illegal foreign parents to apply for the appropriate overseas birth paperwork at their respective consulate, say a month. After that, the young American is removed from the care of the criminals, issued an American birth certificate and is placed into care for adoption -- by Americans. The criminal biological parents are deported with prejudice, after paying for hospital costs.

109 We have to steel our spines and harden our hearts because the media and the Donks and a fair number of so-called conservatives are going to use every trick and every sob story to stop the issue that Trump is forcing into the national conversation.

Seeing what a complete disaster the courts have become, I harbor no illusion that a victory through the courts on the definition of BRC being applied correctly is possible.

So basically the only way forward is to

1. Completely reform the legal immigration system.
2. Drastically lower the number of legal immigrants
3. Make it impossible to function in the US if you are here illegally.
4. Deport all illegals and their american born children, the children will be allowed to return once they have reached adulthood.
5. Build a real wall across the southern boarder.
6. Adopt Trumps H1b plan of reducing H1bs and apply a tarriff on H1bs which would make companies pay H1bs they would have to pay an American.

All of these and others are achievable through the normal legislative process and are wholly constitutional and would not involve the courts.

Trump doesn't sound like Cruz at all on this one.

IMO, he's schooling Chuck Turd (and rightly so; the ignorant little wanker needs some larnin') on reality. What I heard Trump actually say was not what the headline implies; his message was clear that the Mad Mullahs better hope he's not elected, because he will take the supposed nut of the deal -- which Choom Boy told us was no nuclear weapons for Iran -- and make them live up to it.

One thing the TDS crowd hasn't learned about him yet: ask him a serious question, and you'd damn well better listen to him. Don't do the usual weird trick of disassembling it instantly in search of sound bites. Turd hasn't learned that (and never will). 122 Krep,

The best way to accomplish this

3. Make it impossible to function in the US if you are here illegally.

is NOT to do this
1. Completely reform the legal immigration system.

Immigration law works very well when it is actually enforced. As I said last night , read Title 8 USC 1324 and 1325 . The law is clear.

But your point about the courts and judges is absolutely on the mark. And the only way to fix that is through appointments and political pressure. Flood the courts with enough hi visibility criminal alien cases and let the judges tell the public that they are going soft on the poor little alien murderers because sad stories and white privilege or something...

I am so sick and tired of this line of crap. No one is suggesting this. No one is suggesting mass round-ups of illegals.

We can't even arrest every murderer in the US. We can't stop all those who speed, all those who do drugs, all those who steal, etc. And we don't even particularly try.

There is no discrepancy between "enforce current law" and "no, we're not going to have massive deportations." If you believe there is (and that, then, means that enforcing current law is off the table), then you must *also* be for amnesty for murderers, thieves, rapists, and various other thugs and ne're-do-wells.

Yeah maybe. I just know that enforcement of existing law is barely happening.

If you enforce the law, your point 3 gets addressed almost instantly.

This includes employer sanctions which is a hot button , especially with elected officials who get money from those employers.

You start enforcing what is on the books and hiring aliens, legal and illegal suddenly becomes cost-ineffective.

A lot of the so-called legal immigrants are not wholly new immigrants a great number of them are here because of the chain migration laws in effect.

So someone who got an past amnesty can petition the government to bring in their relatives and they go to the head of the line.

So amnesty isn't even about just rewarding individual law breaking it allows this boon to be shared with others in their family.

Our immigration system really is a travesty.

Choom Boy suffers from the same problem as Trump: no one really listens to what he says. Everyone, whether Mocha Messiah idolizer or Trump-despiser, projects their own prejudices onto what they hear, and interpret according to what they want to hear.

There is, of course, a major difference between the two men: if people listened to what President Historic First© is really saying, he would have been imprisoned years ago. If people listened to Trump, they'd realize his serious answers to serious questions have substance, and are worth paying attention to.

Enforce the laws on the books, secure the border with my wall, a moat, some razor wire and troops, fine employers who hire any non-citizen and pay a bounty to local law enforcement when the apprehend law breakers who are also here illegally and ship them home ASAP.

Over 2 or 3 years the numbers of illegal aliens will dwindle and the secure border will allow us to control who comes in as well as charge a toll to come here.

Rubio held an interview with someone (don't remember who), last night or the night before.

They were discussing how people with lots of money are flying women on the verge of birth into the country to have the baby, so they can leverage American citizenship down the road.

They have the baby, then go back to their own country, and keep it as a "chip" so to speak that they may want or need to cash in one day.

That is so smart, but scary. Rubio said he's seen it happening in Florida.

So, it's not just the poor. It really is out of control. Rubio asked the question, how do you track all of them? I do not see this as being very hard to do.

heh.

American Indians were not made citizens until 1924. Lo those 56 years after the ratification of the 14th Amendment, Indians were not American citizens, despite the considered opinion of Judge Napolitano.

Of course it's easy for legal experts to miss the welter of rulings on Indian citizenship inasmuch as they obtained citizenship in a law perplexingly titled: "THE INDIAN CITIZENSHIP ACT OF 1924."

167 So, it's not just the poor. It really is out of control. Rubio asked the question, how do you track all of them? I do not see this as being very hard to do.

Why do you need to? If citizenship based on the geography of your birth (which is not actually the same thing as 'birthright citizenship') is no longer on the table, then tracking them isn't necessary.

However, we've been using birth certificates as proof of citizenship for so long, there is a practical hurdle to overcome: figuring out a way to provide someone a document which proves citizenship.

The game was up when Obama started sending letters to other governments saying sanction penalties would not be invoked against companies under their jurisdiction doing business in Iran, in violation of U.S. law.

Obama was telling companies like Seimens to go ahead and sell centrifuges to Iran, and that no penalties would be assessed.

That's all that other countries care about-- the American market is too important to screw up. International sanctions are purely for show, only American sanctions count. And Obama said they are not going to be enforced.

This despite his oath of office. Shocking, I know.

Yes I am not disagreeing with your points , just in the order that they happen. I think that the priority has to be enforcement.

Can you imagine what it would take and how long it would take for this Congress to reform immigration? Accusations of racial genocide would be screamed at every proposed paragraph. Not to mention that every change would be matched with a 1000 lbs of earmarks and pork.

What he is hoping to do is toss all the blame on the UN and world community when Iran gets the bomb.

The only thing I have heard Obama say that is remotely true is the only alternative to this deal is war. In a sense that is correct because the only way to stop Iran from getting the bomb is through force or by regime change. They have never honored a deal and never will. In that respect, they are like Saddam.

Obama just wanted a deal, any deal, so that he can say he did his job and he can now pretend that he solved the Iran problem. The truth is just the opposite but the msm will do their job and pretend they are shocked, shocked!, when Iran cheats over the next few years and blame anyone but Obama.

Google Iran Russia S-300 and see what you get. Russia is already selling Iran a defensive missile shield to guard their nuke sites from attack. This deal was prohibited by the sanctions agreement that Russia was a part of until the UN vote.

It's all kabuki.

Even if there are no mass deportations, but a wall is built and e-verity is actually followed, and no more anchor babies, etc, that would reduce the flow into the tribe. We are creating enclaves of hispanic communities that simply will not assimilate into American society. Like the Muslim enclaves in Britain.

If we could at least block further flow, attrition and other factors of "not piling on," they would HAVE to assimilate. La Raza would be deflated.

189 I don't want to be seen by any of the COBs of FOBs as a Trump shill, because I'm not. As to Trump's comment: once the camel's nose is in the tent... Iran apparently has all their gold back, IIRC, and maybe all their cash too, so that leverage is gone; and d'you think the Euros and Russians will ever stop trading with them just because we say "oops, totes sorry, we changed our minds"? And the GOPe screwed us bloody by giving Obama carte blanche in that stupid damned vote. (Boehner and McConnell, someday a lot of deaths are going to be on your heads, but I suppose you'll be laughing about it from deep within piles of CoC cash.)

Honestly, it sounds to me as if the Iranians already got what they wanted; the deal was never actually about stopping the nukes, it was more about lifting the sanctions. And about the nukes--what we were already doing wasn't stopping them anyway. Over the last 7 years, Obama has basically already assured they'll be getting their nukes.

I've long believed we should dedicate a Trident SSBN to Middle East targets, on a dead-man's switch. Give a list of "don't do this or else we won't send the stand-down-for-today message" actions very publically, then let the whole place go to hell. I'm of the "let it burn" persuasion about that part of the world. (And I think God has Israel's back. But I'd be happy to give them a few Aegis radars and several hundred SM-3 missiles as a Chanukkah present, as well as about half the F-15 and F-16 planes in the big boneyard.)

No, they pick out a few cases, maybe some high profile cases, prosecute the hell out of them, publicize it, and the rest of us fall in to line.

Specious argument.

It would be impossible to sue the federal government over things it has plenury jurisdiction.

Immigration and naturalization are its explicit powers.

They could set the number of permissible numbers from 1 million to zero and the courts can't say dick.

The same goes for the rest.

230 TRUMP MIGHT NOT CANCEL OBAMA'S DEAL WITH IRAN EITHER How do we know Trump isn't part of the many corporations that plan to jump on the gravy train because of this deal?.Posted by: FenelonSpoke

One of the problems I have with critiques like this is that at worst they show Trump is no better than the otther candidates. But the others are just as bad, just as untrustworthy. By supporting Trump in the polls, we can use him as a goad (ex. Walker's speaking out about OCare). And yeah, if the GOPe fails to get the message and deliver up something acceptable, I'd vote for him.

As I have said, work visas are conditional on there being 'no American workers available. I would like to see the issuance of visas be proportional to the ACTUAL unemployment stats ( not the politicized ones) and even to the labor participation rate.

There are many parallels in the inflation of the US economy with fake dollars and the inflation of the US labor market with foreign workers. And they have the same end result.

245 In my weak minded opinion, people still don't quite get why Trump is winning. They still don't quite get why even they find themselves liking him. I really don't even Trump himself yet knows and if anything stops him, it will be that lack of realization.

People, including Trump I think, believe this is all about his having tapped into the problem with illegal immigration. Certainly, there is some of that. But what people are sick of is all the fake-ass party politics.

Parties that tell them what the issues are and what they need to believe about those issues. Issues that are minor, at best, but are what ultimately become the basis of elections.

Both parties have played this game for decades and have had the electorate eating out of their hands.

But the odd thing about living in the information age is that some people thought they could control information, that they could take the truth - and the untruth out of it - and make it mean whatever they wanted. Global warming becomes climate change when the data fails to cooperate. Corruption become crony capitalism. Eighteen trillion in debt becomes illegal immigrants coming to this country illegally as an act of love.

People, being not stupid in the absolute sense, caught on.

Ergo Trump.

Trump can keep this going if he realizes this.

The real problem with the "critiques" is that they expose the intense dislike of the GOPe and its righty-media fanbois for Trump, the Successful Interloper.

I was concerned by this latest "report" until I actually listened to what Trump said and filtered out Chuck Turd's witless babbling.

He makes sense. And he's also having a good time. EE, Poppin' Fresh and the rest of that testosteronally-challenged bunch hate both things.

248 So, regarding the Daily Mail article about the Red Ball that rolled away and museum people frantically tried to capture it.

It reminds me of the 1960 series "The Prisoner" where a secret British agent is kept on a compound. If he tries to escape, the "Rover" tries to kill him.

The Rover is a big white ball that incapacitates or kills non-compliant people.

263 Noonan excerpt:

As for the Trump phenomenon, a lot of people are still digesting it. The question has evolved from "Will he have an impact?" to "Can he really win the nomination?" to "Could he actually be elected president?" Philip Klein in the Washington Examiner had a smart piece suggesting Mr. Trump may have reached his peak; assuming his lead holds, it will seem less impressive as candidates begin to drop out and others consolidate their positions. That is possible, as is this: that as people watch Mr. Trump and get used to the idea of him they'll come to see things they like in his candidacy. No one knows, because we're in new territory, with a rogue real-estate developer and reality-TV star as a prime presidential prospect. wsj

264 more Noonan

A source of Mr. Trump's strength is that normal people understand how big donors have an impact on policy. Mr. Trump can stand where the people stand on such issues as immigration because the donor class doesn't have hooks in him. "I'm turning down so much money," he told reporters last week at the Iowa State Fair. If he accepted a big contribution, "I'd feel obligated, because I'm a loyal person." On the other hand, "Jeb Bush is a puppet to his donors." On Thursday this newspaper's Heather Haddon reported that some major GOP donors are growing impatient with GOP candidates who've withdrawn their support for Common Core. But Common Core is not popular, and they are trying to survive. I remember when donors just wanted dinner, or an ambassadorship. Now they want policy. Someone, not just Mr. Trump, should bop them hard.
