No, he's a dope. But since we're in humpty dumpty world where holding lifelong positions at odd with the conservative movement and donating money to Democrats means you're the true blue bestest candidate in the world, when Trump insults and berates women it must surely be a sign that he's actually a new man of chivalry.

20 Trump runs third party, hands the election to the Hildabeast. Worked in '92, no reason why it wouldn't work now. All straight from the Podesta playbook.

Only works if there's anything further (rationally) to the Right of where the Republican is running.

It'll work like a dream on Jeb! and probably Kasich. I wouldn't be surprised if it worked on Rubio or Christie. The others I'm more doubtful.

The reason Perot siphoned off so many Republican voters was that HW was known to be a "centrist" who had opposed Reagan's more strident conservatism- and had signed a tax increase into law after promising "Read my lips: no new taxes."

Had HW run further to the Right, to stronger fiscal conservatism, throwing the Democrat congress under the bus for the tax increase (which, IIRC, he could credibly have done), and so forth, he might (might- but people knew his history) still have won.

So if teh Donald runs 3rd party as a spoiler against a Cruz or a Walker... I don't know that you can expect the same result.

That said, if the three options are Jeb!, Hillary!, and Teh Donald (and given that Trump would lose because independent run), what is the precise policy difference between Jeb! and Hillary!?

27 So lemme get this straight......... this old white guy gets shutdown by black "activists" he and his ilk
have been egging on for the better part of a year, (and have yet to
learn, apparently, that you have to wait for the revolution to take hold
before it can begin eating its own), But on the other hand, it could
have been a hit job by his competition, an embittered old dowager
running on a last name and chromosomes, and all of these players are tied up in a
web of .orgs financed by a elderly Hungarian Jew billionaire who once did
some part time work for the Nazis, and to make it worse, Jon
Stewart is no longer around to tell these kids what to think about the
whole wacky situation. And they say the GOP is full of drama.

28 @ 20 - "The reason Perot siphoned off so many Republican voters was that HW was known to be a "centrist" who had opposed Reagan's more strident conservatism- and had signed a tax increase into law after promising "Read my lips: no new taxes."

Keep in mind too that in June-July of 1992, Perot was actually leading in the polls.

It was then that he dropped out, citing the ridiculous "Republicans planned to crach my daughter's wedding" nonsense, and then got back in late while still managing to pull 19%.

It is THIS - and not the simple fact of his run - that makes me think he was purposefully spoiling for Clinton. He might well have won. But since he was beating Clinton too, he dropped out.

Posted by: Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus at August 10, 2015 08:57 AM (GAsPx)

29 But since we're in humpty dumpty world where holding lifelong positions at odd with the conservative movement and donating money to Democrats means you're the true blue bestest candidate in the world

Find me anyone who is saying that.

I have literally never heard that, even from LIVs. LIVs like what they're hearing him say- they don't give a whole lot of thought to "conservative" and "liberal." People like me know he's full of crap, but know that the two most likely candidates out of the established parties are even worse crap.

Now, I've heard the assertion that people are saying that, but I've never actually heard any conservative say that "Trump is the 'true blue bestest candidate in the world.'"

I've never even heard them say that he'd make a particularly good President.

I have heard them say, "Pass the popcorn."

32 Iran was going to get a deal from Russia and Europe soon no matter what the US said or did. The sanctions were wearing thin with the EU and they were back dooring most of them anyway. Plus Putin wanted to rub Obama's nose in the dirt some more so they were going to go ahead and give Iran a deal with or without the US.

Obama didn't want to be left out in the cold plus he wanted to get his name on it for his legacy.

Which is why Obama went to the UN first. Obama has shown over the last 6+ years that he has no stomach for standing up to anyway let alone Russia or China. So he folded and made a deal they would go along with and once they were in agreement the sanctions were for all for all intents over.

Been saying this for months. What happens or doesn't happen in Congress is meaningless as far the overall goal of keeping Iran from the bomb. While everyone has been focusing on Congress the rest of the world has been doing deals with Iran before the ink on the deal was even dry.

The system encourages results not supported by the people; inevitably, someone championing the people--either through cynical imposture or genuine principle--will arise. And every one that gets struck down builds the simmering rage.

It ends two ways. And I'm rapidly losing faith it will be the peaceful way.

98 >>> That said, if the three options are Jeb!, Hillary!, and Teh Donald (and given that Trump would lose because independent run), what is the precise policy difference between Jeb! and Hillary!?

Hillary won't be allowed to become President. Nor will Fiorina.

Yeah, it has everything to do with their gender. Not in a "war on women" way - which is patently ridiculous - but because females are unable to use the proper formulae for holding back the Elder Gods which would otherwise consume our Civlization.

That's what the hubbub about Barack Obama's natality was all about. Not because a foreigner is unable to perform the Masonic Rites found in Art XIII but because they needed to be sure he'd play the appropriate role. When John McCain said "You have nothing to fear...." he was talking to the literal Gnomes of Zurich and the Lizard-Royalty of England.
Thing is, its obvious that, while he does perform the proscribed Rites. something prevents it from working 100% and TPTB think they need an old-blood to re-establish the Boundaries between Reality and the Dreamlands through the sacrifice of millions of ha-ha aptly named "Dreamers" that no-one will ever miss.

So Jeb it is.

What would they have to do to sufficiently "step up" in your view?

Posted by: chemjeff at August 10, 2015 08:42 AM (2XMpf)

Well, Cruz is playing a smart game and using the time he gets to speak pretty well.

His problem is going to be that the media is going to keep asking him "Does God speak to you?" type questions over and over to paint him as a religious nut and deny him time to address issues.

At some point, he needs to either find a short answer to that type of question then roll on to whatever issue he wants to talk about or push back on the very nature of the question itself.

Then Cruz needs to start addressing the border in a substantiative way.

Carly says the right generalities but I have yet to hear hard policy ideas from her.

Again border. Amnesty, H1Bs taking away American jobs, etc.

Walker, frankly I like that he has shifted on amnesty and why - he recognizes that a politician should be a servant of the people.

But, again hard policy on the border.

And he needs to drop the sleepy guy act - his second half of the debate was quite good, his first half zzzzzzzzz.

Again, if the GOP really wants to get rid of Trump, they need to ask all of the candidates hard border policy questions and bore down-

it will eliminate Trump probably but also Jeb! and most of their Jeb!-manques.

It's the kind of dark, nasty stuff we might expect to hear at a white power rally, not from the President of the United States---and it's gotten so blatant that even many of us who are generally sympathetic to the administration, and even this deal, have been shaken by it.

People Magazine Promotes Gross Feminism: 'Free Bleeding' to 'Raise Awareness'

There's a new trend among us! It's called "free bleeding" - where a woman doesn't use feminine products when she's menstruating. Yes. This is apparently a thing, and People magazine thinks it's great. Take Kiran Gandhi, a drummer for several dance and hip-hop acts. Gandhi decided to run the London Marathon "free bleeding" style to "raise awareness," reported People. Yep. That's right! She ran the entire race -- just letting it all flow -- and she didn't even have the decency to wear black running pants.

quotes

"...I ran with blood dripping down my legs for sisters who don't have access to tampons and sisters who, despite cramping and pain, hide it away and pretend like it doesn't exist."

"I felt kind of like, Yeah! F--- you!," she said. "I felt very empowered by that. I did."

"If there's one way to transcend oppression, it's to run a marathon in whatever way you want," she wrote. "Where the stigma of a woman's period is irrelevant, and we can re-write the rules as we choose."

208 A Year Later, Tensions Flare In Ferguson

Not surprised. What gets me about this is twofold. First, there are much more clear-cut cases of police brutality that are getting little to no attention. Why shooting a 7-year-old girl in the head, throwing a flashbang into a toddler's crib, or beating a mentally ill homeless man to death (to name a few egregious cases) aren't the impetus for outrage, rather than a somewhat debatable shooting, is beyond my ken. The second is the degree of exploitation from outsiders who have no connection to the event or the city. I'm sick of the vultures who swoop in to feast on the corpses for their own gain.

Wait, there's a third, and this has puzzled me from the beginning. Why are the rioters smashing and burning their own neighborhoods and local businesses? Their beef - whether legitimate or not - is with the cops, so why aren't they smashing and burning cop cars, police stations and substations, etc? This takes anger transference to a whole new level. It seems that the object of your ire should be the recipient of the physical outworkings of that ire, not the people around you who have done you no harm in any way.

Arrgh, a fourth thing. In a way, I think the cops have brought a lot of this on themselves. Not necessarily the Ferguson police, but I'm speaking more broadly here. They have done a lot to alienate the public and burn through the good will they used to have. People who used to be ardently pro-cop (myself included) have increasingly witnessed the repeated disregard for people's Constitutional rights, the "us versus them" mentality, the cavalier attitude toward the use of violence, and outright bullying. People that were once inclined to support the cops have developed sympathy fatigue, view them with a much more jaundiced eye and are more likely to shrug than defend when the cops are being given a hard time.

Bottom line - people suck.

Do not go gentle into that good night.

I drove a BMW last year and didn't like just because of the nav/radio/everything else control with that knob.
.
.
.I will never own another hybrid. The resale/trade in value of those things falls off a cliff after about 50,000 miles.

The wife had a 2012 Fusion Hybrid we got at the end of year sale with double the $2,500 rebate so we bought it. Looked at the blue book value earlier this year and was astounded, so we went looking around and she bought a Honda CRV.

We only got $12,500 for trade in, one third what we paid for it and it was a very clean car with only 55,000 miles on it. We had three different written offers for it's trade in and they only varied by less than $200.

Apparently the value goes way down due to potential battery replacement possibilities after 50K miles.

251 So, the Lake Texoma weekend was a mostly success. The lake is still 10 - 12 feet over "full" so all the public access ramps/docks/piers/beaches were closed- at least, they were at the park.

We saw people on the lake, so I'm guessing that people were ignoring the fact the ramps were closed, or they had private access.

For us, the best we got was a fishing thing put on by the park rangers for the kids. Do some little mini-classes, have a card filled out by the rangers, and the first 75 kids all got a free rod and reel. Then we went down to the lake (with the rangers) and fished from one of the (currently empty) private docks. Not a bad time, but not what we'd hoped.

But I did get to see stars. I cannot explain how good for my soul simply staring up at stars for several hours on Friday night was.

319 Sorry about your aunt, mpfs.

Can you get hospice in to help or that is not an option, or you;d prefer not to do that?

The last elderly person I knew and loved who died of cancer was down to 73 lbs.

321 There is an strong intersection between the disappointed Mittsters and the Trump-haters.

Their worldview can't accept such a low level of interest in 'a good guy' like Mitt and such a high level of interest in a blowhard sinner like DT.

--

You're probably right. I supported Mitt once he was the nominee and was depressed for a week when he lost.
Ironically that makes me annoyed at the Trump haters. I feel like - oh, you want a Nice Guy Preezy? Well America had a chance to get one in 2012 and picked Shit Midas AGAIN. So wake up and smell the house burning - it ain't happening. F-g game is f-g rigged and it's not Trump that rigged it.

323 mpfs: "She is trying to eat but how can you get 3,000 calories into someone who was tiny to begin with and has no appetite."

Can she drink? Ensure Nutrition Shakes are pretty good. They have chocolate.

They helped me when my appetite was lacking. Doctors also prescribe it for post-surgical healing. Also, there are some fruit-flavored protein mixes available. I'm sorry I don't remember the brand, but go to the powdered drinks section of any grocery store. I have to think there's something she'd tolerate.

324 NYC is returning to the days of david dinkins. The homeless, crazy, and
disgusting are taking over the city again. Way to go decommio

I remember when Grand Central Station had a roped off area just for the homeless,
all the parks were full of tents, tepees whatever, locals couldn't use them under mayor dinky.

325 It's pretty fricken sad that this President is so bad, so mediocre in mind and deeds, so very left and anti American we are talking about Trump for President.

327 "Trump Is Disappointed You Took His Comments To Mean Something They Obviously Did"

It is not obvious at all that they meant that. In fact, they probably didn't. That is simply an assumption a politically correct numbnut would make.

328 So if Megyn behaves like an unprofessional a-hole, Trump is just supposed to sit back and take it like a punching bag?

Why is it so unreasonable to respond in kind? I'd be more interested in how Trump interacts with civil, professional women. I'm guessing he'd score better than Filner, Weiner, Clinton or Ted Kennedy.

It's like the left/GOPe play this stupid game where they provoke someone, and if that someone reasonably responds in kind, angrily, they're all like "Aha! You fell into my trap! You're a misogynist/bigot etc.!"

And now JWF has become part of this stupidity. A candidate's aggressiveness is only *one* of the attributes you need to take ino account when judging them.

By whining about this one issue, people like Erick Erickson, Fiorina, and JWF are trying to make it the *only* issue. Sorry, fuckwits. Not falling for this con. I refuse to be Trump-shamed.

Really. I took it as offensive. Kept my mouth shut, but inwardly fuming. A-hole jumped on the property uninvited, showing off, punking me. If it had been my house, probly woulda said GTFO.
Posted by: Bigby's Tin Foil Hat Folding Hands at August 10, 2015 09:37 AM (3ZtZW)

Well, many NE people who would apparently be offended as all hell if their neighbors tried to give them a helping hand ("how dare these aholes!"), have no problem expecting Uncle Sam to give them free shit. So much for that bullshit Yankee self-sufficiency.

330 My wife the native Pennsylvanian lived in Indiana for a while. She said
she could never get used to all the politeness. It just didn't compute
for her.

I have said this before - but it still remains true: The most polite people I have ever seen were all of my fellow soldiers in Vietnam; even the people from New York and New Jersey could figure out that it was a good idea to be polite to people in a stressful situation where everyone was carrying a loaded fully auto weapon.

Part of why I am in favor of Constitutional open carry; assholes need to figure out that it isn't safe to be an asshole - does a lot to improve the "civil" part of "civilization".

331 Obviously,I'm biased, being from the upper Midwest myself, but the Midwesterners strike a nice balance - they're generally polite and friendly, but it's a restrained sort of friendliness. Unlike the East Coasters, Midwesterners will strike up conversations with strangers in grocery lines and shovel their elderly neighbors sidewalks, but they are not as demonstrative as Southerners, which suits me fine. When I was in the South, I found that sometimes Southerners go a bit overboard when displaying southern hospitality. I generally like them, but I don't feel comfortable hugging and kissing people I just met and acting like they are my long-lost sibling, or, as Southerner Florence King used to put "sloppin' all over with sugar." (King found it a trial too, since she was not Miss Sweetness and Light.)

I suppose it's whatever you grew up with and are accustomed to.

332 Speaking of candidates with the wrong temperament for president, sounds like Sanders utterly failed to handle the situation w/the BLM activists. Kinda like at Netroots thingy a few weeks ago where he and O'Malley were harassed off the stage by the BLM folks.

If neither of them can stand up to BLM mob, why do they thing they're qualified to stand up to America's enemies*?

*I know, the BLM crowd aren't that pro-America, but they don't have nukes
Posted by: Lizzy at August 10, 2015 09:11 AM (NOIQH)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
hehehe. These BLMers are basically spoiled, narcissistic children. But you see, that's the kind of mentality the Left needs in order to have a constituency. They need to appeal to people's envy, sloth and narcissism ("You were wronged! You deserve X, Y, Z as reparations!").

Mature, responsible adults wouldn't vote Democrat in the first place. So it's not a matter of temperament for Sanders. He *has* to indulge these stupid brats. That's what makes this so amusing. He made a conscious decision that he'd ride to power by becoming leader of the chimps. He can't complain when he gets a handful of poo thrown in his face. He has to sit there and pretend to like it.

333 Golden age of muscle cars is now?

Really?

So everybody can afford one?

So they're manufactured to be user friendly? I can work on it myself?

"The golden age of muscle cars is now." I think I just found my entry for dumbest lie of a headline written by a PR company.

334 Bernie Sanders, you summoned the demon. Don't beg for help when it devours you!

I love - LOVE! - how he says, "I want to thank Seattle for being one of the most progressive cities in the United States," and that's ALL he gets to say before his progressive pets attack him like those tigers going after Siegfried and Roy!

336 Chuck and Iran

maybe Chucky is sticking a toe in the water and looking to get in the prez race as a moderate... i mean if the Donald can sell as a conservative, why not Chuck as a middle of the road guy... their bench is not deep... and i see no way Clinton makes it to the nomination, unless the dems are doing the establishment GOP thing after 8 years, and getting out of town before the mob catches up with them...

it is becoming increasingly clear that the 2016 race is the GOP's to lose, the Dems can't win it unless the conservative movement beats its self to the curb, with the press giving a blow by blow ringside spectacular... the mood of the country is turning against the progressives, and the media is imploding... this is the best chance we are going to get... chose well
