Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, December 20, 2014. On this day in 1803 the United States purchased Louisiana from France for $15M. Jefferson was roundly derided for this but it is probably the best purchase this country ever made.

Holder is finding new "rights" for homosexuals and cross dressers. The only people who have no rights are white hetero males.
On Thursday, US Attorney General Eric Holder announced a new interpretation of the Civil Rights Act meant to prevent employers from discriminating against people who claim the status of a transgendered person. So no congressional action needed. Both are the secret ingredients that turn Baltimorons into the worse drivers in the universe. I lived in NOLA before I got out of the Corps. It snowed about 1/2 inch one winter. It took me 3 hours to get home from base about 8 miles away, and when walked to the grocery store after I got home, the shelves were bare; like the zombie apocalypse bare... The snow melted the next day. NOLA drivers are possibly the worst drivers in the world, so you can only imagine how snow (which occurs maybe once every 2 or 3 decades) affects them. I had a beautiful day yesterday, Went to Bethlehem, PA which was founded by the Moravians in the 1700s. There is a section there with lovely old fieldstone buildings. My friends and I went to a putz (from a German word for decoration) which is Christmas tradition among the Mennonites in which some congregation members go to the mountains and gather wood, moss and evergreens, bring it back and arrange in look look like hills. In these they place creche figures which tell of the flight of Mary and Joseph, Jesus birth and their going into Nazareth. There is music and lights and narration that go with it. We also went to Christmas markets which are modeled on the ones they have in Europe. It was nice to be away from politics for the day.

And when I got home I had a letter from this wonderful Catholic/Christian drama groupt-St Luke Productions.-which I support in little ways I can. They produce professional theatre productions about Jesus and the lives of the Saints. The founder., Leonardo DeFillipis is trying to get support together to make a drama about Fr. Augustus Tolton. I hadn't heard of Tolton before, but I'm glad I have now. He was an AA, the son of slaves-the first documented AA to become a priest. He served in Quincy and Chicago IL, in the 1800s ,and unlike some AA's we know of who are connected with Chicago, Fr. Tolton was a humble man and a loving servant of God and others. He died young (43) but he was a true man of hope, a reconciling figure who brought people together. Catholics and any other Christians who are interested in a great man of faith, here is a short video on his life. People who know of his life and respect him are trying to move him forward in the canonization process. Anyway, the video is about 10 minutes for anyone interested.

79>> Y-not; I have to preface my comments by telling you that like Amon Carter, if I had to go to Dallas for business, I'd take my lunch so I didn't have to spend money there.
Dallas is far and away more 'liberal' than Ft Worth. Having said that, I pretty much concur with RK; the 'burbs are the best places to live. In Ft Worth, the city council has been pretty active in distributing/relocating section 8 housing to the 'burbs but its done more to pad the pockets of their political supporters than it is because they think its the 'right' thing to do. The Bass brothers have spent a metric fuckton of money developing and reinvigorating the downtown area and it shows. The one caveat I'd mention is the FWISD. It is rife with PC and stupidity. If you have kids, I'd strongly recommend that you have good tutors or some coin to pay for private schooling. I would never send my kids to Dallas public schools. Period. Overall, the people are extremely friendly and as long as you don't bitch about not being able to buy scotch on Sundays, you'd be fine. Damn Baptists! You can buy beer in larger cities and down at the resort areas at the beach, but liquor is a statewide thing. Posted by: Vic at December 20, 2014 08:36 AM (u9gzs) 112
