Too late. SV is about as diverse as you can get. Trouble is, most of the black tech workers I knew were not native entitlement americans. They were H1Bs from Africa or first generation immigrants, and they worked their asses off. It seemed like a true meritocracy, from my viewpoint.
I don't think JJ knows what he is asking for or that the AfAm community is going to get just another AffAc set aside.

Anti-Americanism is in the process of being consecrated into an ideology. The term is usually used by the establishment to discredit and to inaccurately define criticism.
Once someone is branded anti-American, he or she will be judged before they're heard, and the argument will be lost in the welter of bruised feelings.
It isn't that 'anti-American' means that you have a quarrle with giant sequoias, or that you hate all Americans.
This is a deliberate and extremely effective strategy, namely, the sly conflation of American culture, landscapes, ordinary pleasures of ordinary citizens with criticism of a government's policy. The citizenry is left in the dark with matters for public record that are neglected, ignored or even hidden by the American 'free press'.
There are many Americans who would be mortified to be associated with their government's policies.
It is dangerous to cede to your government or to anyone for that matter, the right to define what 'America' is, or ought to be.
To call someone 'anti-American' -- indeed, to be anti-American -- is not just RACIST, it is a failure of the imagination. It is an inability to see the world in terms other than those that the establishment has set out for you.
I've come to realize that this type of rhetoric is not foolish at all; it is actually a canny recruitment drive for a misconceived, dangerous war.
Every day, I'm taken aback at how many people believe it RACIST to oppose a political agenda that abandons all national borders, or to believe that only RACISTS expect accountability in life.
What we are seeing now is a vulgar display of the business of grief, the commerce of grief, the pillaging of even the most private human feelings for political purpose. It is a terrible, violent thing for a state to do to its people.
It's not a clever-enough subject to speak of from a public platform; but what I would really love to talk to you about is loss. Loss and losing. Grief, failure, brokenness, numbness, uncertainty, fear, the death of feeling, the death of dreaming, the death of opportunity, the death of the Middle Class. The absolute, relentless, endless, habitual unfairness of the world.
What does loss mean to individuals? To whole cultures, peoples who have learned to live with Loss as a constant companion?
Cynically manipulating people's grief, by packaging it for TV specials sponsored by transnational corporations selling the road to serfdom, is to cheapen and devalue grief, to drain it of meaning.
