Burying The Lede in an Update: New Chair of San Diego Democrats Said They Looked at Filner's 30 Year History In Supporting Progressive Issues In Deciding to Give Him a Pass

See the update.

The Democrat Party admits it. But try getting the media to share this level of candor.

Busby responded to tell me that party leaders looked at Filner’s 30-year record of advocating for progressive causes when evaluating him as a candidate for mayor.

So what's a little War on Women between ideological friends? They say these allegations did not "rise above a rumor," which is false-- the deputy mayor of Escondido stated on the record (and went to former head of the party Jess Durfee) that Filner had rudely propositioned her at a professional political event.

This, in turn, lends credence to the other "rumors," which, at this time, consisted of eight different women accusing him, albeit anonymously.

And how deep was their investigation into these charges?

Well, very deep. They busted out the old Dragnet. By which I mean they asked Filner himself about them:

Former Democratic Party Chairman Jess Durfee confirmed to U-T San Diego that Saldańa complained to him about Filner’s conduct. “He assured me there was nothing to be concerned about,” Durfee told the U-T.

Oh well there you go. Carry on then.

Thanks to @starchambermaid.

Donzo: I'm done with the Filner story. I did what I could. No one's interested.

Fine.

it's a good question, I'm not sure. On one hand, Filner has an MO. There's no reason to think he went further to this.

Also, as far as Gaming Expectations, I don't want to suggest he raped someone, because then if he didn't, Democrats say "Oh all he did was grab a few tits."

On the other hand: Bob Filner does not seem to be the sort of man to get all weak-kneed and deferential in the face of sexual discouragement.

I can't even get upset about this anymore. Each and every one of knows that when it comes to male Democrat politicians, they can do whatever they want to women - even cause their deaths - and it's OK.
The MSM, LIV's, DNC, you name it, essentially canonize these men for their behavior, not in spite of it. They roll out all these pathetic excuses or try to destroy the accusers, time and time again. Once it's all taken care of, then these men become greater than they were because they "weathered" these accusations or as stated here, they are good Democrats. Here it is at the mayoral level, but we've all seen it at the gubernatorial level, Congressional level and Presidential level. If it's committed and excused at the Presidential level, what makes anyone think that this Filner story is going to wake anyone up?
Don't get me wrong, all of it is repugnant. There is no excuse for this behavior whatsoever and anyone in position to take actionwho defends it (or ignores it) is an accessory as far as I'm concerned.

The ol double standard certainly tests the heights in this case, but then again Ted Kennedy got away with vehicular homicide +, and Bill Clinton had the rape accusers and on and on.

Even above that all of Congress is certainly happy to get a waiver and subsidies for obamacare even though it was specifically written in the law that they would partake in that little travesty that was just so good for the nation.

Purely shameless. All of them.

In case you don't know this, and have missed this in the last 20 posts:

BOB FILNER IS NOT JUST A MAYOR. UNTIL EIGHT MONTHS AGO HE WAS A TEN TERM CONGRESSMAN (IN WASHINGTON) WHO COFOUNDED THE PROGRESSIVE CAUCUS WITH NANCY PELOSI.

OF HIS 13, 14 VICTIMS (SO FAR), ONLY TWO VICTIMS CAME DURING HIS MAYORSHIP. THE REST CAME DURING HIS SERVICE AS UNITED STATES CONGRESSMAN.

so yeah I'm a little fucking pissed that people, who seem to want to believe the liberal media over me, keep saying "Local Crime Story, who cares" about this.

179 ace, here are some suggestions for posting on Twitter. I will also post them but I don't have as many followers as you do.

1. How many victims are in Washington or were in Washington at the time? (I think this one you may have covered.)

2. Why was this guy so all-important that his crimes were covered up by the DNC and the big shots?

3. If he wasn't that important, then can we assume this is their policy on ALL sexual harassers? (I think this is where you are going with this.)

4. We now have Weiner, Filner, Spitzer, Frank, Clinton (Bill), the late Ted Kennedy, Chris Dodd, and probably more I can't think of. Is the DNC a known haven for sexual addicts and perverts?

I think this is important. Another thing I would like to find out is how many girlfriends of Filner or others from the dem side of the aisle were forced into abortions. I do not doubt for one minute this happened and is why so many dem men are so adamant in their support of "choice."

@179. Miss Marple. Excellent questions.

Like so many things going on right now, this Filner thing is far more important than we are seeing currently. I would use the iceberg analogy, but it has been mentioned in passing a few times.

We arenow trying to catch up to a game that has been going on for decades without us even knowing the game had started.

190 #185 ace, I wonder why the conservative media isn't covering it.

Choices:

1. They are afraid of anything to do with sex after Todd Aiken and Sandra Fluke.

2. Filner was only one of many, on both sides of the aisle.

3. Conservative media have their own skeletons and they know the dems know about it (thanks to NSA).

It's really a rotten shame that soeone like Filner can be foisted on an unsuspecting city in order to cover Pelosi's tracks.

Posted by: hot air refugee save me at August 07, 2013 08:34 PM (tfg7i)

Asking why the GOP doesn't exploit these outrageous scandals isn't 'blaming the Republicans'. I ask myself the same question whenever I see footage of the ruins of Detroit or the dustbowl of California's Central Valley or think about Benghazi or Fast and Furious or Solyndra or IRS targeting. Instead, the GOP Establishment spends all its time, energy, and political capitalpromoting 'bipartisan' immigration policies designed to depopulate Mexico and introduce an influx of millions of foreigners for the sake of cheap labor--that is, when they're not railing against the 'Tea Party extremism' of the base. Many of them, like McCain, are probably secretly conflicted over whether or not to support Hillary in 2016.

GOP leadership won't fight. They no longer believe. They've become just like the wishy-washy, go-along and get-along Whigs who preceded them.

After what mittens said the other night I wonder.

The republicans are allowing the democrats to bully them on all fronts. They are cowering like a bunch of pussies. And the conservative media is doing the same.

Every single time the republicans allow the democrats a pass, it just adds to the pile of sh t they are under. Ultimately they won't be able to climb out of the pile, they'll become part of it.

In case you haven't noticed, the republican party is nearing the "put a fork in it, it's done stage" but hey, don't let me deter you from believing in unicorns and fairy tales, it's still a free country, thank God.

204 Worst part of this story: As any cop would tell you there are likely many, many more victims. Sex offenders don't generally get caught with their first transgression -- despite their predictable protestations. Bottom line: No one knows how many women were molested after DNC leadership learned about this guy. But every one of them is as much a victim of the DNC as they are of this ass.

"Impartial" people in the media and the universities decide what is or is not a story. The Left believes them whilst pretending that they're the middle road on all this. The Right in effect also believes them, or at least doesn't stick out its neck to dispel the illusion.

Because if any Rightists did confront the illusion, the news media would laugh at them. They'd become "fringe", like Bachmann or Palin. (That's probably the point at which your #1 and #3 come into play.)

I dunno. As conspiratorial as it sounds, I'm thinking the big story here is the silencing of the conservative press (such as it is), and perhaps selected members of the GOP political class. Bear with me here: it was only recently discovered that James Rosen was being surveilled. It was also only recently discovered that the NSA (and FBI and DEA et al) have been screening targeted email headers and datamining citizens with only the barest of judicial oversight. And what about Justice Roberts' convoluted 'Obamacare as tax' decision? It was as if Roberts was desperately seeking a way to constitutionally justify that piece of shit. He fairly tortured legality out of it.

Maybe the people who decide what stories to cover have been suborned. A lot of people may have been suborned. The people responsible for Fast and Furious don't seem like the sort who would hesitate to use a treasure trove of opposition information to their advantage.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to finish folding my tinfoil hat. It needs to fit just right. You know, to keep out the radio waves.

1. Denigrate and mock the MSM at every opportunity. I do, with friends and associates. I do it in a number of ways, e.g., when a current story is cited by someone I'll ask "do you really believe that? You understand the unreliability of the media, don't you?" I don't necessarily or always mention "bias," but rather, "unreliability," "unprofessionalism," "shallowness", etc.
2. Cancel subscriptions, cancel cable -- if applicable. I have no MSM in my life anymore in any form (only what I see or read as referenced by different blogs).
3. Call or email MSM outlets when they commit outrageous bias of commission or omission. Threaten to stop watching them even if you already have.
4. Complain when you see CNN or MSNBC feeds in public places. I complained to my bank about MSNBC being broadcast over their multiple video screens (can you believe it?). They stopped and now run bank promos (I think other people complained as well so can't take total credit).
Probably other ways to fight, too.
