Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | House Intelligence Chair: CIA Talking Points Were Changed By White HouseAnd other things you were already pretty sure of. But he gets more specific than your hunch probably was. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), chairman of the House intelligence committee, says the unclassified talking points put together by the CIA changed when they got to administration appointees: "[T]here was not an intelligence failure," Rogers told "Meet the Press" on Sunday. "The intelligence community had it right, and they had it right early. What happened was it worked its way up through the system of the so-called talking points, which everyone refers to, and then it went up to what’s called a deputy’s committee...It went to the so-called deputy’s committee, that’s populated by appointees from the administration. That’s where the narrative changed. And so how that thing got back to (Susan) Rice, I think, is probably another question."And so the White House worked strenuously to provide the American public with a false narrative about the events in Benghazi. I have this strange notion that whenever someone is assiduously working against the truth, the truth probably does not favor that person. This seems obvious to all of us, that Obama blamed the video at a time in the campaign when revealing the truth would have exposed his weakness on national security and providing for the security of Ambassador Stevens et al. But I have to wonder, are there going to be *any* repercussions to this? It's a coverup of the highest order, way worse than the whole Valerie Plame bullshit.

We already know the answer to that, too. The White House (meaning Obama) had a direct feed of the events. No matter who refused to send help, Barack Obama could have done so simply by saying, "Are you out of your mind? Of course we send in the troops!" He didn't. Nothing will be done in the Senate, Dingy Harry has already said so explicitly; Harry Reid: No Benghazi Select Committee in Senate http://tinyurl.com/c5ncf64 Saying he refuses “to allow the Senate to be used as a venue for baseless partisan attacks,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid quashed a GOP request to create a Select Committee on the Benghazi consulate attack. The entire Benghazi affair illustrates clearly just how completely in the tank the media is.
From the beginning, they downplayed the significance of an assassinated Ambassador, ignored the lax security despite months of warnings and pleas for upgrades, lambasted Romney for a week for taking the exact position the White House took within 12 hours of Mitt, and refused to cover the story further (except Fox News) until after the election. The sad part is that even though media is now mistrusted by 60% of Americans, it was still powerful enough to pull Obama through. Posted by: Adjoran at November 19, 2012 03:22 PM (ZHQvg) 59

Apparently we need some data (around 2 TB) from one of our vendors. Now, the way people normally handle data transfers that big is to drop the data onto a hard-drive, and then overnight it to wherever it needs to go (even at good business class FTP speeds we're talking a couple of days to send it over the wire). For some reason, the vendor refuses to do so, however, and is insisting we use FTP for the transfer. How would we have known of this pushback from the CIA? If the CIA called up their usual contacts in the press and told them that Obama was lying, who would have told us about it? The press made it clear from the very start that they were not going to report anything about Libya or Egypt that was damaging to the Obama. Would you risk your CIA career to leak information to these people, knowing firsthand how deeply they'd aligned themselves with the President's campaign? Actually, the Libyans (as a rule) do like us. Reading those Benghazi documents, it's pretty clear that, like for a while in Iraq, the people who didn't like us were "foreigners." Barack Obama is a good man, a decent man, a man you shouldn't be afraid of. I can't think of one really wrong thing in his life that he's done. He's just a little out of his depth with this economic stuff, and I believe that's the only issue in this election.

By 2016 or even by 2014 we may be witnessing another world war. So much
of what we think is important now may be moot in two to four years. But I'm an optomist. -- Agree, I've been thinking we're headed towards another WW since about 2009 or 2010. The worldwide economic problems including our massive debt, high unemployment and O's continuous damage, the Europe and mideast instability, and the spread of jihadists, you mix it all up and what other option is there for a major re-set? The problems aren't going to be solved by politicians since they are the cause. Posted by: Mayday at November 19, 2012 04:34 PM (F3s39) 189
Give it a few more weeks, and we'll find out the Mossad warned us of this attack two months in advance.

"But I have to wonder, are there going to be *any* repercussions to this?
It's a coverup of the highest order, way worse than the whole Valerie Plame bullshit." No, there will be no repercussions. Because the media will bury this deep: no Woodwards or Bernsteins will be digging into this story. No, they'll stick to the stuff that *really* matters, like Sarah Palin's emails and Mitt Romney's tax return. Posted by: Brown Line at November 19, 2012 04:40 PM (VrNoa) 191
One thing I'm curious about is why Amb Stevens would go to Benghazi on 9/11 when he of all people knew how bad the security situation was there, and with so little protection. (I don't mean the purpose of his visit, separate issue).
He'd been expressing his fears and asking for more security for months. So from the standpoint of his own personal safety, what could possibly make him agree to going to Benghazi on 9/11? Did he have a reason to believe he would be safe? (really?....on 9/11?....with AQ in the area?...NOTHING could have convinced me it would be safe if I were in his shoes.) What legitimate or illegitimate business could not have waited until 9/12, one more day? Posted by: Mayday at November 19, 2012 04:43 PM (F3s39) 192
Ace, new meme: What didn't Obama know and when didn't he know it?

I'm not religious, but the "science" crowd (in quotations because most people who profess to adhering to reason and science in fact do neither and are just as dogmatic about what must be accepted and not questioned as religious people) has become such assholes and bigots that i really, really don't want to be associated with them at all.

I could give a crap about the message being changed. I want to know who left the Americans to die when there were assets available to help them.
