Texas Chick-fil-A double homicide suspect in custody, police say

The man wanted for murdering two people inside a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Irving Wednesday afternoon is now behind bars, FOX 4 News Dallas-Ft. Worth reports.

Authorities say the suspect in a deadly Texas shooting that killed two people inside a fast-food restaurant is in custody, and that he is in the United States illegally.

Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta, a 37-year-old citizen of El Salvador, is charged with capital murder of multiple persons after a shooting Wednesday at a Chick-fil-A in the 5300 block of North MacArthur Boulevard in Irving, police announced.

"We can confirm that the suspect was taken into custody early this morning," a spokesperson for Irving Police Department told Fox News Digital on Thursday morning, adding that Mendoza Argueta has an "ICE hold," with the warrant agency being Immigration and Naturalization Service Dallas/Fort Worth.

An ICE spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital that the agency's Enforcement and Removal Operations in Dallas "lodged an immigration detainer with the Irving Police Department on Mendoza." Such detainers are for noncitizens accused of a crime and who have been apprehended by police.

An official said they believed the shooting was "a targeted incident and that this was not a random act of violence."

So if you want to address the two factors in this crime, you can either ban guns for American citizens, or ban the practice of permitting unvetted illegal alien criminals entry into the country.

DEI Justice Ketanji Jackson-Brown wrote a partial dissent in a case about Idaho's abortion laws -- of course the court blessed "emergency medical" abortions, and guess what, soon all women seeking abortions will claim they have a "medical emergency," of course -- but what the DEI Dummy wanted to go further.

What she did not want to do is use the word "woman" to describe the pyrsyns of various genders who might be seeking an abortion.

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson refused to use the word "woman" in her partial dissent Thursday in cases considering Idaho's abortion ban.

Rather than answering the cases' central dispute about whether the federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) requires doctors to perform emergency abortions in conflict with Idaho's pro-life law, the Supreme Court dismissed the cases as "improvidently granted," reinstating an injunction on Idaho's abortion ban issued by a lower court and sending the issue back to the Ninth Circuit. The language in Jackson's solo opinion, in which she concurred in the decision to reinstate the injunction and dissented from the decision to dismiss the case, is conspicuously free of gendered terms.

"So, to be clear: Today's decision is not a victory for pregnant patients in Idaho," Jackson wrote. "It is delay. While this Court dawdles and the country waits, pregnant people experiencing emergency medical conditions remain in a precarious position, as their doctors are kept in the dark about what the law requires."

Jackson continued to write that "for as long as we refuse to declare what the law requires, pregnant patients in Idaho, Texas, and elsewhere will be paying the price."

Jackson wants the court to strike down the law. Instead, the Court chickened out of deciding the case at all. They decided just to not decide, which leaves in effect the injunction barring enforcement of the law in cases of "medical emergency" abortions which, as I've said, will now be 100% of the abortions in Idaho.

This is just about the preliminary injunction, not the law itself. An injunction is a temporary measure begged for in the period between the filing of a lawsuit and final disposition of the case.

So, in theory, the Court could strike the law down later.

"Dismissed as improvidently granted" is a way cowardly justices dispense with cases they don't have the guts to take. What they say is that they were previously wrong to certify the case for Supreme Court review, and just file it as an "improper" previous grant of certiorari.

Yes, Amy Coney Barrett was among the liberals DIGging the case (Dismissed as Improvidenty Granted, DIG).

The contours of the issue have changed in the months since the court decided to take up the case, Justice Amy Coney Barrett wrote in a concurrence joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

"I am now convinced that these cases are no longer appropriate for early resolution," Barrett wrote, pointing to revisions Idaho made to its abortion ban and the Biden administration making clear that its arguments were aimed at rare cases.

Oh look, the Troika strikes again.

So the court is now, as a commenter said earlier, 3-3-3, with Barrett and Kavanugh joining Roberts as the "centrists" who will almost always side with the left.

Nearly half of all electric vehicle owners say they'd rather go back to gas engines.

A significant share of Americans who own an electric vehicle have buyer's remorse, according to new data.

McKinsey & Co.'s Mobility Consumer Pulse for 2024, released this month, found that 46% of EV owners in the U.S. said they were "very" likely to switch back to owning a gas-powered vehicle in their next purchase.

The high percentage of Americans who want to make a switch even surprised the consulting firm.

"I didn't expect that," the head of McKinsey's Center for Future Mobility, Philipp Kampshoff, told Automotive News. "I thought, 'Once an EV buyer, always an EV buyer.'"

BREAKING--EAST PALESTINE 2.0: A freight train has derailed in Matteson, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Due to a hazmat situation, some residents within a mile of the crash had to evacuate their homes.

NOTE: Officials ordered evacuations due to a leaking train car, with mandatory evacuation zones within a mile south of Main Street and 217th Street, and areas a mile west and a quarter mile east of Main Street.

Governor of Massachusetts -- a Loud and Proud "Sanctuary State" -- Travels to Border to Tell Illegals Not to Come to Massachusetts

The governor of Massachusetts deployed state officials to border communities to warn illegal immigrants not to go to her state because the migrant shelters are already full, according to a report from Politico.

Democratic Gov. Maura Healey is sending five state officials to several Texas communities from Sunday through Wednesday to inform non-governmental immigration organizations and other border officials that her state's emergency system is too overwhelmed and cannot accept any more migrant families, according to Politico. The actions come despite state and local policies that largely qualify Massachusetts as a "sanctuary" jurisdiction.

"This trip is an important opportunity to meet with families arriving in the U.S. and the organizations that work with them at the border to make sure they have accurate information about the lack of shelter space in Massachusetts," L. Scott Rice, a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant general the governor chose to lead the shelter system, stated to Politico.

"It is essential that we get the word out that our shelters are full so that families can plan accordingly to make sure they have a safe place to go," Rice continued.

You mean, they should plan to settle in red states.

That is what you mean, right?

In addition to Rice, Healey tapped several other top state officials for the trip, including the state's emergency assistance incident command deputy director, strategy manager at the division of housing stabilization, pre-shelter policy lead for incident command and the executive director of the Massachusetts office of refugees and immigrants, according to Politico. The group is due to make stops in McAllen, Brownsville, Hidalgo and San Antonio, which are all major hotspots for migrant families that eventually make their way to Massachusetts.

I bet you the shelters at McAllen, Brownsville, Hildago and San Antonio are all filled up too.

But they should stay there, right?

Healey will soon start enforcing a nine-month time limit for shelter stays, per a new law passed by the state legislature, in order to cut down on emergency shelter costs that are on track to reach $1 billion.

When a Massachusetts judge was facing charges in 2019 for allegedly helping a migrant in her courtroom escape apprehension by an ICE agent, Healey -- then the state's attorney general -- described the indictment as "a radical and politically-motivated attack on our state and the independence of our court." Also, as an attorney general, Healey issued a formal statement condemning then-President Donald Trump's move in 2017 to withhold federal funding from sanctuary cities.

Healey's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

CNN: The Biden Administration Is Moving Towards Allowing US "Contractors" -- Military Personnel Paid by Third Parties -- to Aid in the Fight Against the Russians in Ukraine

Supposedly they're merely "allowing" US companies to bid on contracts to "repair" weapons systems in Ukraine.

But almost all of the people skilled in such jobs, and willing to enter hellish foreign warzones, are US military personnel.

And I seem to remember a long history of US governments claiming that no US personnel will be engaged in fighting foreign wars, only to discover later that "ex"-military people were hired by the CIA to just do that in the capacity of "military advisors."

Sometimes you "advise" foreign troops about how to shoot at the enemy by actually shooting at the enemy yourself. Lead by example, you know?

Teach by doing. Show them how to fight their war by taking over their war for them.

And then, once US personnel were involved, the government would declare that now America's honor and flag were at risk, and we had to Commit Fully to fighting the Foreign Communist Threat.

Domino Theory, you know. We have to fight them over there before the dominoes fall and then we're fighting them in Duluth.

The Biden administration is moving toward lifting a de facto ban on American military contractors deploying to Ukraine, four US officials familiar with the matter told CNN, to help the country's military maintain and repair US-provided weapons systems.

The change would mark another significant shift in the Biden administration's Ukraine policy, as the US looks for ways to give Ukraine's military an upper hand against Russia.

The policy is still being worked on by administration officials and has not received final sign-off yet from President Joe Biden, officials said.

"We have not made any decisions and any discussion of this is premature," said one administration official. "The president is absolutely firm that he will not be sending US troops to Ukraine."

Once approved, the change would likely be enacted this year, officials said, and would allow the Pentagon to provide contracts to American companies for work inside Ukraine for the first time since Russia invaded in 2022. Officials said they hope it will speed up the maintenance and repairs of weapons systems being used by the Ukrainian military.

Over the last two years, Biden has insisted that all Americans, and particularly US troops, stay far away from the Ukrainian frontlines. The White House has been determined to limit both the danger to Americans and the perception, particularly by Russia, that the US military is engaged in combat there. The State Department has explicitly warned Americans against traveling to Ukraine since 2022.

But now?

They're going to keep escalating until they claim "we have to fight them there so we don't have to fight them here."

They're going to get into a nuclear war with Russia.

CNN claims these military contractors will "only" be repairing the engines of war Ukraine is using to attack Russia.

Well, first of all, Russia will certainly consider repairing and improving America-provided military armaments to be an act of war.

Second of all, I sure do remember American governments sending military advisors into foreign countries claiming their role would be strictly of a non-combat nature...

The discussions follow a series of decisions the US has made in recent months to try to help Ukraine beat back the Russians. In late-May, Biden gave Ukraine permission to strike targets inside Russia, near the border with the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, with US weapons--a request the US had repeatedly denied in the past. Last week, that policy appeared to expand once again, when National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Ukraine could counterstrike anywhere along the Ukraine-Russia border using US weapons.

Current and former officials familiar with the discussions about deploying contractors to Ukraine emphasized that the policy change will not result in the kind of overwhelming American contractor presence there that existed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Instead, it would likely result in anywhere from a few dozen to a couple hundred contractors working in Ukraine at a time.

I believe you. I also believe President Johnson when he tells me we're just sending a few dozen "military advisors" to Vietnam.

"This would be a much more focused and thoughtful effort to support Ukraine in country," said retired Army officer Alex Vindman, who served as the director for European Affairs on former President Donald Trump's National Security Council.

Vindman has been pushing the administration to lift the restrictions for nearly two years and said the administration has been working on a plan to ease the restrictions since earlier this year.

Thursday, as you could probably guess if you didn't already know, is "Thor's Day."

I should have mentioned this for the other days of the week, but the Latin names for days persist in the Romance language day-names. Jovis dies becomes jeudi in French, and Giovedí (pronounced Jove-e-di) in Italian.

Marti dies (Tuesday/Tyr's Day, or "Mars' Day" in Latin) becomes Martedi in Italian, Mardi in French (cf. Mardi Gras, literally "Fat Tuesday," the day of binging before the abstentions and fasting of Lent). But on June 1, when the beauty pageant crowned a man the winner of Miss Maryland USA, a number of the contestants felt that they had not been granted that fair and supportive environment they were promised.

The male winner goes by the name Bailey Anne Kennedy and identifies as a transgender woman. The day that he was crowned Miss Maryland USA was also the first day of Pride Month--a fact that was not lost on the contestants.

"I was shocked," one contestant told The Daily Signal as she described how she found out that she was competing against a man. This contestant, who asked to remain anonymous to protect her privacy, will be identified as Contestant A. "I had mixed feelings. I started to think that the winner might be predetermined."

"A transgender woman gets crowned during first day of transgender Pride Month?" she asked. "It did not seem like a coincidence. Especially when owner of the pageant is a transgender woman herself. I was feeling like neither myself nor my fellow contestants had a fair opportunity from the beginning."

Kennedy will now go on to compete for the title of Miss USA in Los Angeles in August. The 31-year-old beauty pageant contestant, who would reportedly be the oldest Miss USA winner in pageant history if he won, is married to Marine Corps officer Casey Guthrie.

Kennedy describes himself as a military wife. Immediately after winning the Miss Maryland contest, Kennedy marched in the Capitol Pride Parade in Washington, D.C.

This year, Miss Maryland USA removed multiple requirements for the contest and now allows women who are over the age of 28 and women who are married to compete. And it is not lost on Kennedy that his win is breaking with former precedent for the contest.

Olohan notes that the rules of the contest require proof that someone is a woman for entry, a requirement that was seemingly relaxed for their Male Ringer.

She also notes some of the contestants might be uncomfortable to be sharing changing rooms and bathrooms with a man. Which they weren't alerted to.

Olohan says that this man "convincingly" poses as a woman. Ehhhhh.... agree to disagree.

A third contestant, who asked to remain anonymous to protect her privacy and will be identified as Contestant B, said that she felt betrayed by the way the contest was handled.

"I felt lied to," she shared. "I would've liked to know ahead of time, as I was subject to change, utilize the bathroom, and be in the same space as a biological man ... it surely seemed like the organization and Bailey was trying to hide this fact until it was convenient to them."

Contestant B also pointed out that Kennedy is a self-described "stay-at-home wife with no kids." Given that the Miss Maryland USA contest awards women not only for beauty but for hard work and professional success, Contestant B found it odd that Kennedy would win without a job or a family.

Walgreens Slashes Full-Year Income Outlook, Plans to Close Hundreds -- or Thousands -- of Stores Due to "Struggles with Theft"

Pharmacy chain Walgreens announced Thursday that it would close a significant number of its U.S. stores, after cutting its full-year profit outlook.

While the company did not disclose how many stores it plans to close, it said it will close many underperforming stores across the country to optimize operations. The closures will also focus on stores too close to other Walgreens stores or those struggling with theft.

Here's why I say "thousands of stores:"

Walgreens currently has more than 8,700 stores, with the closures focusing on one-quarter of its U.S. locations.

If they actually close one quarter of their stores, that's... well you can work out the calculations yourselves, I'm not your Math Bitch.

Walgreens is the latest pharmacy chain to close locations over economic conditions. Walgreens competitors Rite Aid and CVS Pharmacy have closed dozens of locations since the start of the year.

Candidate for Hennepin County Commissioner Is Riding the Line of the Hot/Crazy Matrix

A candidate for Hennepin County Commissioner is facing a misdemeanor assault charge after an alleged argument with her housemate.

Marissa Simonetti says she rented space to a local attorney who needed a quiet place to study for the California Bar Exam. However, the arrangement fell apart in less than three weeks.

There are questions about whether Simonetti should have been renting out space since she's not the homeowner. Regardless, the situation ended with Simonetti finding humor in the events, while Jackie Vasquez, her housemate, is definitely not laughing.

In the five-bedroom home, Simonetti was living upstairs, and Vasquez was staying on the lower level.

But on Friday, when things got heated, Vasquez started recording. Simonetti blasted loud Christian music, banged pots and pans, and screamed.

Then, she tossed a tarantula and various other items down the stairs -- a move she said was an ode to the movie "Home Alone".

"I mean, there is an element of humor to that movie, and at the end, what was I supposed to do?" Simonetti told FOX 9's Karen Scullin. "And at the end of the day, unhinged got her out of the house."

A self-described conservative candidate running on "family values" for a vacant Hennepin County Commissioner seat was arrested on abuse charges on Friday following an altercation between her and a roommate. FOX 9's Karen Scullin has a wide-ranging interview with candidate Marissa Simonetti, who ultimately says she still plans on running for the seat.

The battle apparently started because Vasquez was complaining of a "spider infestation."

Simonetti says the complaints were nonstop, finally asking Vasquez to leave, but she wouldn't. She claims that Vasquez then sent harassing messages.

"Perhaps I should have invited her up for tea and crumpets," Simonetti said in response to the escalating confrontation.

New York Times/Sienna Poll Puts Trump Up by 4 Among Likely Voters, 6 Among Registered Voters

Is this still a "small" or "slight" lead, or is this more substantial?

Note that we are now at an inversion of the past situation -- a likely voter screen is now more Democratic, and an "all voters" screen favors Trump. Trump has attracted a lot of non-voters and low-propensity voters.

The trouble is... they are low-propensity voters.

President Biden continues to confront deeper doubts among Democrats than former President Donald J. Trump faces among Republicans -- even after Mr. Trump was convicted of 34 felony charges last month, according to a new poll by The New York Times and Siena College.

The national survey on the eve of the first presidential debate shows that voters have broad distaste for both candidates but that Mr. Trump has so far better consolidated the support of his own party. Only 72 percent of voters who said they cast a ballot for Mr. Biden four years ago say they approve of the job he is doing as president. And voters overall say they now trust Mr. Trump more on the issues that matter most to them.

In the first Times/Siena poll since the former president's trial ended with a guilty verdict on May 30, more than two-thirds of voters said the outcome of his Manhattan criminal case made no difference to their vote. Roughly 90 percent of Republicans still view Mr. Trump favorably.

And among the relatively small slice who said the conviction would make a difference in their vote, Republicans said the outcome would make them likelier to support him than oppose him by a roughly 4-to-1 margin.

The head-to-head results of the survey show Mr. Trump with his biggest lead in a national Times/Siena poll among likely voters, 48 percent to 44 percent, a 3 percentage point margin when calculated before the figures are rounded. Mr. Trump's lead with registered voters was an even larger 6 percentage points.

Those results are notably different than the new national polling average released by The New York Times this week, which shows Mr. Trump leading Mr. Biden by about one percentage point. It is difficult to determine whether such results, known in the polling industry as an outlier, reflect a change in public opinion not yet seen by other pollsters or are produced by random error.

It's not an outlier. Quinippiac just found Trump ahead by 4 as well.

In this case, the size of Mr. Trump's lead in the poll may be related to the fact that Republicans were significantly likelier to answer their phones and take the survey than Democrats or independents, a new development in Times/Siena polling this cycle. One potential explanation was that Mr. Trump's base is more motivated to participate in the poll after his conviction.

The candidates were neck-and-neck in the Times/Siena survey in April, with Mr. Trump holding a slight advantage -- 47 percent to 46 percent -- among likely voters.

The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

I had an interesting conversation with a bunch of like-minded conservatives last month, and articulated something that in retrospect is obvious, but difficult to accept.

Islam is winning.

It has a coherent (to them) political philosophy, there is very little internal dissension, the vast majority of its adherents are supportive of its most savage and world-destroying goals, and they have successfully co-opted the natural antipathy of the West toward them and turned it on its head.

There are short-sighted economic reasons for the West to allow the immigrant invasions, but the grand scheme has nothing to do with economics and everything to do with the progressive drive to destroy traditional Western culture and replace it with...anything else. Islam, their allies of convenience, is happy to be of assistance, because they are confident that they will have the upper hand if the West falls to the globalist left.

And they will.

The only saving grace for the supporters of traditional Western philosophy and culture is that our enemies have coalesced into one. There is very little daylight between the progressives and Islam, so if we choose to fight, we will have an easier time of it.

But of course the conservative movement is mired in the last war. You know...the polite one where Ronald Reagan could have lunch with Tip O'Neill. Of course Tip went back to congress and f*cked Reagan, but it is certainly a romantic and warming story!

Cast Away Illusions and Prepare for Struggle

...for decades old guard conservatives have for the most part completely failed to conserve anything, institutions of the republic included, no matter how frequently they've bandied about the Constitution and appealed to American exceptionalism; it will avail us nothing to continue in the same vein.

We need a radical re-imagining of the tactics and strategy of American politics if we are to prevail. There are indications that some of the MAGA-curious politicians are embracing the left's techniques, but until it becomes the default, the conservative movement in America will continue to struggle.

And, sadly, that won't be enough.

The Constitution was a very fine document, successfully codifying the unique character of the young Anglo-American nation. Many of us dearly hope it can yet be restored and re-enforced, in spirit and law. But the time for conservatives' hubristic habit of quibbling over American exceptionalism or the precise meaning of America's founding has well and truly passed. Now is the time to cast away illusions and prepare for struggle.

As much as we love the ideal America, it seems to be receding into the past, replaced by a post-modern hellscape of two-tiered justice, blending of government and leftist social organizations, Stalinist control of the media, and a host of other failures to adhere to our founding document.

The Constitution may well have outlived its usefulness.

The burning question is: What will replace it?

The Koran? The Frankfurt School?

Or a reimagined governing document that returns to the foundational concepts of freedom, liberty, self-determination? But it must have teeth, and it will most probably be forged in blood.

Good Morning Kids. Well, as Malig-Nancy Pelosi would put it, the Supreme Court has indeed "gone rogue." Meh it did that over 200 years ago with Marbury v. Madison and quite a number of other horrendous decisions ever since, but this one is right up there, or given the state of play of how our government has operated since the New Deal, is it really all that surprising?

The Murthy v Missouri decision is pathetic and dishonest. Faced with clear evidence that the government had arranged to censor individuals and viewpoints, Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s response was to lead a majority of the court’s leftists in mocking those who sued as idiots because the injury inflicted on them can’t be redressed since it already happened and because the social media platforms are still continuing to censor them even without direct government intervention.
This is the equivalent of “You can’t sue the government for blowing up your house because it already happened and since it failed to reappear, clearly its non-existence could never be attributed to government action.”
To issue her warping ruling, Justice Barrett had to argue that it’s unlikely the government would ever censor social media again.
“It is a bedrock principle that a federal court cannot redress “injury that results from the independent action of some third party not before the court.” Second, because the plaintiffs request forward-looking relief, they must face “a real and immediate threat of repeated injury.” Putting these requirements together, the plaintiffs must show a substantial risk that, in the near future, at least one platform will restrict the speech of at least one plaintiff in response to the actions of at least one Government defendant.”
And what are the odds of that?

You can bet your life that should Donald Trump actually survive the persecution via prosecution and if the key swing states which even Lefty pollsters are claiming will go to him, even with the rigging machine going into overdrive as it must especially this time around, political violence from the Left is always on the table, perhaps no more so than this go around.

Then ask yourself, would any Republican president or bureaucrat ever knowingly utilize their position to strong-arm the media to strip away the first amendment rights of their political opponents. Meh, would they even be given that opportunity and given the political inclinations of much of the media as mere house organs of the the Democrat left in the first place.

The judiciary was compromised long ago when the notion of a "living and breathing Constitution" was put above originalism and the strict reading of the Constitution. That was the fundamental transformation long before Barack Obama was birthed.

And here we are.

So the debate is tonight. Speaking of censorship, it should be quite instructive as to how Fake Tapper and his sidekick will prop up Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants and silence Trump, while hurling have you stopped raping women in Bergdorf's changing rooms yet, kind of questions. Ugh.

On a personal note: for those who have been asking about me, I'm four days into treatment and mercifully not feeling any side effects so far. Thank you for your continued support and prayers.

  It has human actors, in makeup and wigs, and it's edited, and put over a kind of bad song in a a thick Russian accent.

  An analysis by True Media, a nonprofit that was founded to tackle the spread of election-related deepfakes, found with 100% confidence that there was AI-generated audio used in the video. It also assessed with 78% confidence that some AI technology was used to manipulate the faces of the actors.

  There's only one voice in the entire video and it doesn't sound like anyone, so that claim is completely irrelevant.
  
  Is it used for the faces of Biden and Trump in the video? Eh. Maybe.
  
  But again, it's a parody video. Nobody thinks this is real. The reason Wired didn't link to it is because they want you to think people think it's real.

  Fink says the obvious nature of the deepfake technology on display here suggests that the video was created in a rush, using a small number of iterations of a generative adversarial network in order to create the characters of Biden and Trump.

  It's not a deepfake if it intentionally looks fake. But pretending it is a deepfake, is a deepfake.

  The report details how the campaign, dubbed CopyCop, used the AI tools to scrape content from real news websites, repurpose the content with a right-wing bias, and republish the content on a network of fake websites with names like Red State Report and Patriotic Review that purport to be staffed by over a 1,000 journalists - all of whom are fake and have also been invented by AI.

  Just like CNN.

  The topics pushed by the campaign include errors made by Biden during speeches, Biden's age, poll results that show a lead for Trump, and claims that Trump's recent criminal conviction and trial was "impactless" and "a total mess."

The House just passed my amendment to defund the office of the DHS Secretary.

To say nothing of his unilateral decision to dissolve the southern border and make illegal alien foreigners the equals of American citizens.

Swing state voters who will decide the election say that Trump, not Biden, will do a better job of Preserving Our Precious Democracy.

Voters in key states who will likely decide the election trust former President Trump more than President Biden to handle threats to democracy, according to a survey released Wednesday.

The poll, conducted by The Washington Post/Schar School, surveyed voters across six swing states and identified a subgroup of respondents labeled as "deciders." It found that 38 percent of "deciders" said Trump would do a better job of handling threats of democracy to the U.S., while 29 percent said Biden and 23 percent said neither.

Roughly 60 percent of the group also said they are not satisfied at all with how democracy is working in the U.S.

Yeah -- the question is easily interpreted this way. The left intends the question to be interpreted as "Wasn't January 6th worse that 9/11 times a Day Which Will Live in Infamy?," but most people interpret it as "is the government responsive to your wishes as voters."

Most voters don't think it is, though their reasons for saying so vary.

Those labeled as "deciders" include respondents who voted in the 2016 or 2020 election, are under the age of 25, have been registered to vote since 2022, are undecided and may not vote or someone who changed the party they support between 2016 and 2020.

Among all swing state voters, 44 percent said they trust the presumptive GOP nominee more to protect democracy, while 33 percent said the incumbent. About 16 percent said they trusted neither, and 7 percent said they trusted both equally, per the poll.

Nearly three-quarters of "deciders" said they believe Trump would not accept the results of the election if he lost in November, while 33 percent said the same of Biden. Nearly half of the subgroup said Trump would try to be a dictator if he won, and just 15 percent said Biden would.

The poll surveyed 3,513 voters across the key swing states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin between April 15 and May 30. The pollsters identified 2,255 "deciders" from the respondents.

Under 25 years old, remember.

And they still trust Trump more.

Two shocks about Jamaal Bowman: One, his "Ph.D. dissertation" was about, you'll never guess, Critical Race Theory or CRT.

Boy, I never saw that one coming.

Two: He is alleged to have plagiarized it from others.

Mind. Blown. Krrrsssh.

Jamaal Bowman, the controversial New York congressman, often appeals to his work as a former school principal and his Ed.D. in education as the basis for his policy positions.

But, according to our analysis, Bowman's primary academic work -- his 2019 dissertation, "Community Schools: The Perceptions and Practices that Foster Broad-Based Collaboration among Leaders with the Community School Ecosystem" -- is riddled with basic errors, failures of logic, and multiple instances of plagiarism. (Bowman did not return a request for comment.)

Bowman has boasted about the paper on social media and considers it formative to his political orientation. When asked recently about his political views, Bowman said, "I identify as an educator, and as a Black man in America. But my policies align with those of a socialist, so I guess that makes me a socialist."

The dissertation, which Bowman completed at Manhattanville College, says that "Black, Latinx, and poor White children have been historically oppressed throughout American history," and as recompense makes an argument for "community schools," a concept developed by the Brazilian Marxist pedagogist Paulo Freire, in which schools would be expanded to provide full-time government services for every aspect of society, including for adults.

The statistical work in the paper is limited, and the method primarily consisted of "qualitative" research, with Bowman interviewing 13 school administrators, activists, and parents.

Remember, a dissertation is not a term paper to prove you read the material. It's supposed to be an original work of research that adds to the corpus of knowledge in a field.

Bowman interviewed 13 of his pals and fellow teachers. That's his contribution to academics. Chatting with some colleagues and writing up their claims.

Each was immediately placed in a demographic box and assigned the role of oppressor or oppressed. For example, Bowman wrote that "Ms. Melendez, a parent leader at Manny Ramirez High School, was born in the Dominican Republican [sic]" and is a true member of the New York community, while "Ms. Warren, who identified racially as White, discussed being very aware of being 'a visitor in someone else [sic] community all the time.'"

Bowman's community schools model holds that the government, not parents, is responsible for children's success. Bowman quotes one school official saying, "Families don't have any deficits. If a mother is collecting welfare, so what?"

Bowman's paper also appears to include multiple instances of plagiarism.

In one passage, Bowman explains critical race theory, one of his theoretical methods, by copying from another author's summary of the 2001 book, Critical Race Theory: An Introduction. He takes the passages from R. Rolon-Dow without quotation marks, as required by academic authors. In the copied passage, Bowman merely substitutes "Latino/Latina" with "Latinx/Latina," following the latest academic fashion, although it appears that he misunderstood the purpose of the "x" noun ending, which is to remove gendered language like "Latina." He also inserts a typo by changing "the intersection between race/ethnicity and caring" to "the intersection between race/ethnicity caring."

The paper provides little in the way of meaningful advances in scholarship. "As a pragmatic study, no attempt was made here to generalize these data. The researcher studied the phenomenon of collaboration among leaders within the Community School ecosystem within its natural setting. This study reported based simply on the results found," it concluded.

The general observation amounts to a form of racial reductionism, separating people into identity categories and judging them according to their ancestry.

Well that is CRT, so I guess he passes his high school term paper on it.

Former President Donald Trump stood in the heart of North Philadelphia Saturday and portrayed it as a "wild time" in the city, saying violent crime has surged and vowing to send federal law enforcement if he's elected.

"Biden's wave of bedlam and death and terror will begin to recede the moment I take the oath of office," Trump said. "There are certain places, like places that I know very well here, that are just absolutely out of control."

The [Philadelphia rally] put in stark relief the effort the Republican nominee is making to win over voters -- especially people of color -- in traditionally Democratic strongholds. He recently rallied in Las Vegas and the South Bronx, N.Y. At the rally Saturday, the Trump campaign's second in Philly this month, signs read: "Philadelphia is Trump country."

"I was like, Philly? Is he sure?" said Tom Mathena, 47, a Trump supporter and construction worker from Wilmington. "It was a bold move."

Biden is still expected to win Philadelphia handily. But even a small shift in votes could hand Trump Pennsylvania, a key battleground where he and Biden are polling neck-and-neck and a state that could tilt the Electoral College.

Can Trump contest the blue states? A new Sienna poll shows Evil Nurse Kathy Hochul and Angry Vegetable Joe Biden at rock-bottom favorability. At the Center Square:

The Siena College poll found that Hochul's favorability rating was 38-49%, while her job approval rating was 44-50%. Both were down from a previous poll and the lowest since she took office in August 2021.

Hochul's latest poll numbers are even worse than those of Biden, who 42% of respondents viewed favorably. The poll found Biden leading the presumptive Republican nominee, former President Trump, by single digits, 47%-39%.

New York Republicans who usually don't vote because their vote doesn't matter should probably start making sure their voter status is up to date. Your vote will matter, if enough of you decide to vote this year.

On Sunday, a synagogue in the largest Jewish neighborhood in Los Angeles hosted a small, privately advertised event for those interested in purchasing homes or second homes in Israel. "The Great Israeli Real Estate Event" at Adas Torah synagogue wasn't political and it had nothing to do with the Gaza war. But within moments of its noon start time, it became the backdrop to the worst antisemitic violence in Los Angeles since an attack on Jewish diners at a restaurant in 2021.

Over the course of several hours, with dozens of LAPD officers decked out in riot gear largely staying out of the fray, around 100 pro-Hamas activists attacked, bear-sprayed, harassed, and brawled with Jews up and down Pico Boulevard.

The police occasionally stepped in, but their main activity Sunday afternoon seemed to ensure that the activists were able to successfully shut down the front entrance to the synagogue, ruin the event, and harass Jews more or less with impunity. Dozens of video clips from Sunday afternoon have been posted online (a good roundup is here). The striking thing about the footage is that despite the significant police presence, there is scant footage of the police forcefully intervening in the numerous fistfights, brawls, and beatings.

I had come to the synagogue with my kids not to get caught up in a street battle but to learn a bit about real estate in Israel. As violence across America has grown without much pushback--especially in cities where Jews live--many Jews are thinking about alternative plans, or at least exploring their options.

It turns out that Hamas sympathizers have been keeping close tabs on events hosted by synagogues in America. They knew about the event in advance, and were putting out calls on social media via groups like Code Pink and the "Palestinian Youth Movement" to mobilize their keffiyeh-clad thugs to show up at Adas Torah at "12PM SHARP" ready for action. The same groups that promoted Sunday's violence, it turns out, had also shown up at similar real estate events earlier this year in Toronto, Montreal, and Teaneck, New Jersey.

The social media posts about the event were designed to generate maximum mob outrage: "OUR LAND IS NOT FOR SALE! This Sunday, a real estate event will be marketing homes in 'anglo neighborhoods' in effort [sic] to further occupy Palestine," reads one post. One doesn't need to be a scholar of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to note that there is no distinction made here between Israel proper and disputed territories. To them, all of Israel is Palestine, all of Israel should be destroyed, and every home inhabited by a Jew on any part of this land is a crime.

These public social media posts are quite open about the goal of violence. "The Nakba is ongoing and must be confronted! FROM THE BELLY OF THE BEAST / NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE."

But I knew none of this when I loaded my kids into my car and headed over to "THE BELLY OF THE BEAST," an American synagogue. My wife, who was out running errands, would meet us there.

[A]s I got closer, the truly meaningful spectacle came into view: behind the phalanx of LAPD, on the sidewalk in front of the synagogue, were the Hamas supporters. When I walked up to the police with my boys and asked if I could enter the synagogue, they told me not to come any closer and said that I should leave.

I asked calmly but incredulously, "Shouldn't you be making sure this place stays open?" The reply was: "You should leave."

Police were unwilling to confront, arrest, and prosecute bad actors. Jews were being policed in the name of "safety." In Los Angeles and other big cities, and on many elite campuses, the message from authorities is essentially: things would be so much easier if you stayed off campus, avoided the library, didn't go to your synagogue, and overall just stayed away from the mobs that regularly gather to confront you.

It's important to note that this approach applies only to certain kinds of people. If a hundred masked Christian Republicans, say, had gathered in front of a Los Angeles mosque on Sunday and assaulted Muslims, we would now be several days into a national news cycle about Islamophobia and injustice in America. There would be joint LAPD-FBI task forces kicking down doors, and press conferences, vigils, presidential speeches, and multipart investigative reports from numerous leading publications.

Liberal Jews continue insulting their actual allies on the right, while excusing the behavior of their false Democrat allies.

Tom Cotton says Biden is lying about arms deliveries to Israel.

It's blocking them, but refusing to deliver the required reports to Congress, thus dictatorially keeping Congress in the dark about it.

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., slammed President Joe Biden for what he said was "deliberately misleading the American people" regarding the administration's rhetoric with regard to weapons shipments to Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last week that the U.S. is withholding weapons shipments to Israel, which the Biden administration denied, saying that aid is flowing normally to Israel.

"Your administration is engaged in bureaucratic sleight-of-hand to withhold this crucial aid to Israel during a shooting war," Cotton wrote in a letter to Biden.

The White House is required to notify Congress about foreign arms exports; however, the Biden administration has been withholding formal notification from Congress about deliveries to Israel, which allows the administration to claim the shipments are "in process," while never being ultimately delivered, according to Cotton.

Meanwhile, CNN is running Pallywood propaganda, crying that people were killed when Israel rescued four people being held hostage by terrorists.

Bullet holes fleck the bloodstained walls of the Miqdad family home, in Nuseirat camp, central Gaza.

CNN footage from the house shows a cream teddy bear perched on a white cupboard, with broken plastic strewn across the shelves. In another room, mother-of-four Rasha Abdel Miqdad shudders with grief, before breaking down in tears.

"This is the blood of my son, Yamen. May God bless his soul," the 32-year-old Palestinian told CNN on June 12. "My son was innocent.

"We are civilians, and we have no connection to the resistance or anything or any faction. We have no connection to it at all."

CNN spoke to seven members of the family who described a horror-filled haze of gunfire, tank artillery and aerial bombardment around their home on June 8. Israeli forces stormed through the building searching for militants and indiscriminately spraying bullets, according to the family members. Four people suffered gunshot wounds, leaving one child severely injured and 12-year-old Yamen dead, the family alleged to CNN. Soldiers interrogated and beat male relatives, and forced a child to strip, relatives claimed.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released footage on June 16 showing forces in the Miqdad's house on the same day as a high-profile hostage rescue operation nearby. In the heavily edited video, shared on social media and described as forces "securing the area" during the operation, members of the Israeli Paratroopers Reconnaissance Battalion appear to enter the home. The video does not show what happened on the third floor, where the family say they were attacked.

CNN has reached out to the IDF but has not received a response to the specific allegations made.

According to Hamas, all Israelis are members of the IDF and therefore are valid targets. Even the children. Even the elderly and infirm.

The same logic applies to Gazans.

Georgia Supreme Court Removes Foul-Mouthed Cop-Hitting Tit-Hanging "Judge" From Bench

A foul-mouthed Georgia probate judge allegedly pushed an Atlanta cop twice outside a nightclub and then refused to identify herself after she was arrested, according to police and bodycam footage.

Douglas County Judge Christina Peterson, 38, was cuffed and placed in the back of a cop cruiser early Thursday for battery against a police officer.

Cops said she interfered with a police officer trying to de-escalate a situation in which a security guard working at Red Martini Restaurant and Lounge attempted to escort another woman outside, according to 11 Alive News.

"Let her f--cking go, let her f--cking go," Peterson yells at the guard and police officer, according to the footage released by Atlanta police and obtained by local outlets.

Police said the footage then shows Peterson, a Democrat, push the officer, who was working an approved extra job, in the chest twice and swipe at his hands during the commotion around 3 a.m., leading to her arrest.

The officer takes Peterson to the ground and slaps handcuffs on her as a crowd forms around them, according to the clip.

The video, presented by Fox 5 Atlanta, later cuts to Peterson refusing to identify herself as the officer pleads for her name.

"You don't need an identification," she said angrily. "You have picked up dead bodies when you don't know who bodies it was, but you picked them up. Take me where you need to take me."

"I'm trying to," the cop replies as the two continued to argue.

At one point, the judge suggested the officer Google her, to which the cop replied, "What's your name so I can Google you."

Other parts of the footage show Peterson at the police station as she complains and curses about the cop taking her by the arm while they walked, and then later in another police vehicle, when she is told the charges against her.

She's claiming, get this, that the cop "viciously attacked" the woman the cop was escorting from the premises, and she was being a Good Samaritan when she hit the cop.

Peterson, who took office in 2020, was previously found guilty of "systemic incompetence" by a judicial panel in April, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

New Quinippiac Poll Has Trump Taking a "Slight," "Small" Lead

Please don't complain about this being a poll post. Everyone has been wondering how the Fake Conviction of Trump would wind up affecting the race.

The Fox News poll, which has always skewed to the left because Fox is a garbage corporation run by staunch New York liberals who literally hate your guts and want you to die, showed Biden creeping ahead, 50-48, after previously being behind by one. This "movement" was all within the margin of error and could not be said to be truly meaningful, but it was cause for concern.

The new Quinippiac poll has Trump "pulling ahead" -- the previous poll, before the Fake Conviction, had Biden ahead by 1.

As President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump prepare to face off in the first presidential debate of the 2024 election cycle, Trump has a slight lead over Biden 49 - 45 percent in a head-to-head matchup, according to a Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pea-ack) University national poll of registered voters released today.

Four points is a "slight" lead? I always think of five points as being the start of a "solid" lead.

Cope and seethe, cope and seethe.

In state by state polling, they usually call a lead of 1-4 points a "lean" to one candidate, and 5-9 points "likely" to go to one candidate.

This is a small change from Quinnipiac University's May 22 poll when the race was too close to call with Biden receiving 48 percent support and Trump receiving 47 percent support.

It's a five point swing. That's a "small" change?

Do you realize how close presidential elections usually are? In a blowout, the winner might have an eight point lead. In most elections, the gap is three or four points, tops.

In today's poll, Republicans (93 - 4 percent) and independents (51 - 41 percent) back Trump, while Democrats (94 - 4 percent) back Biden.

I do not believe for one second that Biden holds Democrats better than Trump holds Republicans.

In a six-way hypothetical race that includes other candidates, Trump leads with 43 percent support, Biden receives 37 percent support, independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. receives 11 percent support, Green Party candidate Jill Stein receives 2 percent support, independent candidate Cornel West receives 2 percent support, and Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver receives 1 percent support.

A "hypothetical race" is the race that actually exists with multiple candidates, according to this group.

Meanwhile, the two-man race -- which is not the real contest -- is the one they put forward as "real."

No, Quinippiac, this is exactly backwards. The two-man race is the hypothetical matchup.

Trump is ahead by six in the real race -- a "slight" lead, to be sure!

"The political heat rises in this steamy American summer of discord. Trump holds a narrow lead in the head-to-head matchup and is in a slightly better position when all the candidates are included, said Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy.

"Narrow" lead. The coping is out of control.

Voters were asked how important each of eight issues is in their decision of who to support in the election for president...

preserving democracy in the United States: 51 percent say extremely important, 31 percent say very important, 12 percent say somewhat important, 2 percent say not so important, and 3 percent say not important at all;

The left always assumes this question indicates that people are worried about Trump.

It never occurs to them that more people are concerned about the demented, incompetent tyrant Biden.

the economy: 45 percent say extremely important, 41 percent say very important, 12 percent say somewhat important, 1 percent say not so important, and 1 percent say not important at all;

the United States Supreme Court: 38 percent say extremely important, 34 percent say very important, 17 percent say somewhat important, 4 percent say not so important, and 5 percent say not important at all;

Donald Trump's felony conviction in New York City: 23 percent say extremely important, 16 percent say very important, 11 percent say somewhat important, 10 percent say not so important, and 38 percent say not important at all;

A total of 50% say that the Fake Conviction is important to one degree or another, but only 39% -- the Democrat base, of course -- claim it's more than "somewhat" important.

climate change: 21 percent say extremely important, 25 percent say very important, 21 percent say somewhat important, 12 percent say not so important, and 20 percent say not important at all;

Biden's approval rating falls again:

Voters give President Biden a negative 38 - 58 percent job approval rating, compared to a negative 39 - 56 percent job approval rating in Quinnipiac University's May 22 poll.

Another "slight" change, I'm certain.

Two points, which I'm sure you know: 1, Trump outperforms his polls. So this lead may be understating things. The James Madison points out that the 2020 polls overstated Biden's "votes" by seven points.

A "slight" overstatement of seven points.

2, Republicans have an electoral college advantage, because Democrats tend to cluster in just a few big Democrat states, thus containing their evil to those states. Republicans are more spread out. A Republican tied in national voting will win easily in the electoral college. If he's ahead by 1-2, it will be a big win.

If he's actually ahead by a "small" six point lead, forget about it.

And if that six point lead actually understates the lead? Katy bar the door. Dee you bitch.

Biden's big plan for the debate? The obvious: Avoid talking about his dismal record and just keep attacking and insulting Trump, hoping he will respond poorly.

How will the public respond to this asshole continually throwing out attacks and insults, I wonder?

And Rachel Levine told them to remove all age requirements from their guidances.

Newly released emails from an influential group issuing transgender medical guidelines indicate that U.S. health officials lobbied to remove age minimums for surgery in minors because of concerns over political fallout.

Health officials in the Biden administration pressed an international group of medical experts to remove age limits for adolescent surgeries from guidelines for care of transgender minors, according to newly unsealed court documents.

Email excerpts from members of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health recount how staff for Adm. Rachel Levine, assistant secretary for health at the Department of Health and Human Services and herself a transgender woman, urged them to drop the proposed limits from the group's guidelines and apparently succeeded.

The guidelines, released in late 2021, recommended lowering the age minimums to 14 for hormonal treatments, 15 for mastectomies, 16 for breast augmentation or facial surgeries, and 17 for genital surgeries or hysterectomies.

That's what WPATH recommended -- which is already an extremist position.

Biden, who's all about sexualizing young children, said that those age minimums had to go.

The proposed age limits were eliminated in the final guidelines outlining standards of care, spurring concerns within the international group and with outside experts as to why the age proposals had vanished.

The email excerpts released this week shed light on possible reasons for those guideline changes, and highlight Admiral Levine's role as a top point person on transgender issues in the Biden administration.

"We sent the document to Admiral Levine ... She like[s] the SOC-8 very much but she was very concerned that having ages (mainly for surgery) will affect access to health care for trans youth and maybe adults too," a WPATH member wrote in one internal email released by psychologist Dr. James Cantor as part of litigation challenging an Alabama law outlawing certain gender transition-related treatments and procedures.

"Apparently the situation in the USA is terrible and [Levine] and the Biden administration worried that having ages in the document will make matters worse," the health group member continued.

"She asked us to remove them," the email continued, referring to Levine who identifies as a transgender woman.

In another excerpt, a WPATH member recounts a conversation Levine's chief of staff, Sarah Boateng, and notes that "She wonders if the specific ages can be taken out" on the proposed guidelines.

WPATH appears to have caved to the Biden administration's pressure.
