How about Hollywood and the White House lead by example on this pay gap BS. They won't. Just like they don't do things to lower their carbon footprint and have their bodyguards carry no guns. I used to get infections a lot when I lived in Houston. Boils and throat infections, several times a year each. It was awful. Colorado seems to be more of an influenza and pneumonia place. But my immune system is better able to shake off the latter.

I have a recipe for making pear muffins, and subbed out pumpkin puree and a quarter cup of buttermilk for the pears and milk.
It turned out very nice, but it heaped up in the middle, which I am told means I baked it too high.
Originally I had intended to make muffins, but I hate using the muffin tins. So I baked it in the 9" square cornbread pan. It is easier to clean, at least.

"Where's Poppa?" from 1970, written/directed by Carl Reiner, is another example. His #1 problem: a mindbendingly clingy, ruinous, crazy, unthinking Jewish mother.
How does the protag, played by George Segal, *finally* solve his problem? By finally giving in, crawling into her bed, and SLEEPING WITH HER at the very, very end of the film. Not kidding, check it out. Very dark.

-Designing knitting patterns is going great guns. I think I'm up to 33 published now, with another 5 or so coming up soon.
-Dave bought me a new car for Christmas, thus saving me the trouble of having to shop for a new one myself (Jeep Cherokee Latitude).
-Big continues to be a giant heartache but at least we have a diagnosis now. He spent a week in a mental hospital and had some med adjustment. Time will tell.
-Little is a joy. Who really really needs to go back to school after more than a week off due to snow.

If I might be forward -- make sure that both of you remember that he's a giant heartache because you love him so. My uncle did OK with Lithium (though he was older); there are many indications that SSRI's are too dangerous to use for patients under 25 years unless in an inpatient facility. I well understand the stress, confusion, and exhaustion that can quickly build-up in such times -- each malady reinforcing the others. I hope you can find calm, clarity, and comfort to resolutely meet the challenges ahead.

This has been a long haul since Sept. Over $3000 later I think my dog is getting back to normal. She had an infection caused by the surgery, thus the delay in recovery.

Super 80's cheese, easy enough to have dismissed as just an ephemeral phart of the age. Turns out the lead, Mark King, is well known among the bass heads. He popped up a few years ago doing his old songs live. Quite cool.

Seems this quilting thing is pretty big ... national shows and all. An
old friend of mine has done it for a long time up in Lisbon Falls ME,
long arm machine, whatever that is. I like that it is something still
done mostly by small shops, afaik. Or maybe the Chinese are taking over

The fiancee has been going to PIQF since forever, since it's local. She'd been to the Houston show once -- but it was before she was all that into quilting. And she just went to the "Road to California" quilt show in Ontario, California and was all jazzed about it. There's another huge one in Paducah, KY, coming up. So, yeah -- it can be a big deal.

Saw a very nice white TR6, 56000 miles, that sold for $12000. Nicer car than mine by far, but it did need a few things fixed. What it did tell me is that I could spend quite a bundle on mine, and still not be in it for more than it is worth. Saw not one, but two '63 Avantis, both nice, but nowhere near 400-point cars. Might have seen Alice Cooper, or at least a guy who looks like him.

And, BTW, you want big -- Mary Jo's Cloth Store in Gastonia, NC. For a little background, you have to realize that there was a lot of industrial production in the mill towns of the south -- but they weren't making iron and steel, they were making furniture and cloth. A lot of the production has moved on; but a lot of the trading posts remain.

At different times, I owned both. 1966 and 1978. I found the cockpit design and convertible top preferable on the latter. The former was not notably faster or more maneuverable, in my experience. But 1978 was the last "good" year for the design, as 1979 and 1980 had serious QC issues, coming from labor disputes, I believe.
Realized as you asked about the MGB that I left one car off my list. Sunbeam Tiger, not particular about the year. Or Alpine, 1964-1967. I owned an Alpine and enjoyed it greatly, and the Tiger was a car that I worshiped from afar.

Nope, the '90's sucked. Grunge almost destroyed Metal... and not just Hair Metal, but the good stuff. It killed off a bunch of good bands while others "experimented".

I guess I give the "what do I listen to now". I have a huge CD collection and I pretty much ignore most of the stuff from the 90's. I was listening to Little Feat on my way into work. Some music stands the test of time. The 90's had a shortage of that.

I listened to about 30 seconds of their cover of Walking on Sunshine. It was OK. Video showed singer singing, musicians music-ing. I fail to see what's revolutionary about that. I was watching Youtubes of Little Feat last night. Singer singing, musicians music-ing. And the music was better, IMHO.

No exaggeration. The Grunge scene blew chunks, and a lot of thrath bands were dropped from their labels.
Though some bands were able to survive, and even get better (esp. Megadeth), others went full "Black Album" (never go full Black Album).

That's one of three.
The thing about recording sound+video, and mixing them both down simultaneously, is somewhat innovative. Multitracking Nataly doing background vocals and recording the video of each track is clever -- it's not the be-all and end-all of musicianship, but it's a nice fillip.
Try another two vids.

I disagree that Grunge was bad or killed other non-marginal bands. There was a lot of musical diversity at that time and it was great. You had NIN or Ministry. You hade Depeche Mode or The Cure (for example). Slayer and Sepultura exploded as did Metallica and Megadeth.
They did destroy those faggy hairbands, which to this day make me want to put a bullet thru whatever device sh*ts out their music.
The early 90's had much to offer musically.

I did try another. They seem unclear on the concept. Music is meant to be listened to not watched. Some of the best Youtubes I have "watched" have been nothing more than the album cover, or a 78 record spinning.
I like sausage. I don't particularly wish to watch sausage being made.
I would probably enjoy this band if they just got together in a club setting and played music. I doubt I'd ever become a huge fan because it really isn't my kind of music.

Agreed. It's a matter of taste. Not saying they are bad people; they seem nice. Glad to hear they got a band together and went on tour. I hope they do well. I think working that mode is a lot more likely to win them fans than making precious little videos that annoy old farts like me.

That's a real shame. The best way to backup data is on optical media - blu ray, these days. If there's stuff that's important to you you should have it burned on some disc of some sort. Nothing else can really be relied on.

Yeah ... I wouldn't use that store anything that was truly important to me. You can buy hard drives out the wazoo but they are more susceptible to all sorts of problems. Burning discs is the most reliable storage - for truly important stuff.
But, that's just how I feel about it. Everyone has their own ideas they are comfortable with.

Had an older gent stop by last week. He lives in AJ year round, and is working on a '73 TR6. I had mine out to a local show at the Basha's parking lot at Signal Butte and Apache Trail last Friday. Yesterday, I fixed the squeal in the front brakes, and worked on the front park/turn lamps, and now they BOTH work.

I myself set up something similar a while back to shut up the neighbor's dog -- and it worked!
My device was simultaneously less sophisticated than his while also being partly more sophisticated.
First thing I did was research the loudest "anti-bark ultrasonic beeper" device available on the market. These devices emit an extremely loud and extremely annoying noise -- that only dogs can hear! (Because it is too high for the human ear to detect, thus "ultrasonic.")
They make these with noise detectors to set them beeping, but they're only ever designed for "in-home use" and can't detect a dog that's barking too far away.
Furthermore, they sometimes respond to extraneous noises, which ruins the effect because they exist to train the dog not to bark. If the ultrasonic beep goes off randomly, the dog won't be trained, because the annoying sound won't be caused by its barking.
So what I did was sneaky and clever:
I rigged it so that the beeper was activated by a remote control -- this was actually the hardest part, but I ended up buying a second dog-beeper that had a remote control function, yet had a quieter useless beep, but then took it apart and connected the remote-control part to the louder beeper of the first device. They were both all open with their guts out, but that didn't matter because...
I housed the combo remote-contolled loud beeper inside a birdhouse and hung it up in a tree near the neighbor's fence, with the "hole" of the birdhouse (behind which was the speaker of the beeper) pointed straight at the dog's usual barking spot.
So now I had a nice loud beeper pointed at the dog, which I could control remotely. But in so doing I had disabled the autodetect activation feature.
But that's not a problem, because I, me, became the detector.
I put the remote control next to the window facing toward the birdhouse, and every time I heard the neighbor's dog bark, I pressed the remote control button, which activated the ultrasonic beep. I couldn't hear it, but you could see the dog flinch!
At first he only barked louder at it, but I just kept beeping him more, until eventually after several days the dog felt defeated (not to mention deafened), and retreated inside.
All of this was inaudible to the human ear, and completely invisible, so the dog's owners never had the slightest clue what was happening.
The dog stopped barking completely for a while, but eventually it did start up again -- but only either inside the house (where it was muffled and not so bad) or on the front side of the neighbor's house away from my window (also not nearly as bad). But not since then has the dog had the nerve to come out back and bark in my direction!
So -- success! I didn't silence the dog completely, but enough to be satisfactory.

True story:
I drove a couple hours to go look at this car once. Guy wouldn't move off of his price even $1. I passed, but regretted it every day.

Congrats. I'm happy for you. Nothing like a repair going well. I think non-car people are looking at your post and thinking it is no big deal. There simply is no explaining the feeling when you work on it, and fix it yourself.
I recently rebuilt some disc brake calipers, which I had never done before.
Considering I am now using them and they work to keep me alive, I get a bit of a warm fuzzy off of it.
