I live in Baltimore and nobody wants to talk about the fact that on a per capita basis, 2015 is the deadliest year here EVER, beating out the early 1990s. Remember the 1990s? That's where the @$(*@$(^@# shakycam came from. That show. And he did this really annoying "triple take" thing that he must have gotten from doing MTV videos or something that added nothing but headaches. They stopped doing that after the first season but the shakycam was there to stay.

I remember reading Frances Gary Power's book. The U-2 had an ejection seat but the way the cockpit was arranged with regard to the windscreen rear frame that an ejection could possibly sever your legs at/above the knee. It was a close run thing. The pilots all talked among themselves whether ejecting was worth it or not.
Powers ejected and managed to keep his legs.

I found them by accident. 2 hysterical guys that are very conservative. They are on midnight to 5am central. And the podcast is ready when I get up in the morning. No commercials. They have their own ap also.

He's pretty conservative/libertarian if you haven't checked him out.
I also listen to Charley Jones overnight. He's an old KZEW Disc-Jockey turned late-night conservative talk-show host. I know you can listen live, but not sure if he still puts up the files online.

The husband and I listened to SevenEves while tiling our first floor with wood look tile. The book is over 30 hours long. We completely finished it while still having about half a room to grout. Most Vietnamese noodle houses have a great variety of pho. You can get well-done beef if you want it, also hot and spicy if you want it. Pho is not normally hot and spicy, though. But it is indeed yummy.

That particular case is less likely, just because coke is almost all water, so there's not a lot of savings in reducing the volume, compared to the cost of retooling all the canning plants. And vending machines.
I do hate the size changes in general, if only because they break so many old recipes. OK, a one-pound container of this and a sixteen-fluid-ounce can of that... but the pound is now 12oz, and the 16 is now 14.5...

They should have done what Baltimore and Seattle did when they built a new stadium: renovate the entire neighborhood. The Kingdome used to be in one of the scariest industrial parts of the city and when they built the new stadium it became a really nice part of town.

salami head crosetti and meldrick are my all time faves.
the first three episodes of the series are the best.
and the scene where they're at the cemetary when they can't find the body is classic...all centering around the black widow who killed or had her relatives killed for the insurance money.
The first season or so, almost everything was from the book, IOW it actually happened here in Mobtown, even that horrible murder of the little girl, Adina Watson was the name used in the show. I love Baltimore, but I have no illusions about its darker side.
I like the scene where some of the detectives are drinking beer on the street late at night and some thug is casing them. Belzer hold up his badge and yells "We're cops! Go rob someone else!"

There were imminent domain issues. I'd already moved away when Cowboys Stadium was being built, but from what I understand some particularly shitty apartments were able to continue standing due to some sort of zoning shenanigans.
But instead of making a nice shopping area/ restaurant scene near that part of town they built the new town center several exits down. Not sure why.

So, a while back I watched part of the special on the 800lb Mexican guy. He had a girlfriend, had his Mom waiting on him hand and foot and was generally happier than I am.
When I discussed this with a friend she pointed out that people were taking care of him like he was a baby, and he didn't have to make any decisions or contribute to the world at all. So of course he was happy.
There's the answer to your adult baby dilemma.
/yeah, I have to call Blue Cross on Monday, pay bills and send in some tax forms to a client. Maybe life would be better as an adult baby...

Of course, I was in a hurry to get home and have a beer, so I ordered it to go.
When I got home, I found that the various ingredients were separately and intricately packaged. I had no idea how I was supposed to put them together. But I muddled through somehow and it tasted fine.
I still marvel at that packaging job. I've never seen anything like it. It should have come with an instruction sheet.
It also tells me that it's a good restaurant and I really should go back there again and eat in.

Where it got me is when it took me five years to convince the State Board of Accountancy I had two years of experience, so that I could get my CPA. WD's probably gone by now, but close on the pho pronunciation.
V'mese is a tonal language, which means it's all a preposterous sham that they try to make foreigners believe is actually a language, as it's completely impossible for non-native speakers to ever really pick it up properly. Well, it's close to that bad, anyway.
The language has diacritical marks (little hats and accents etc) above certain vowels. For pho, there's an upside-down question mark thinggy over the "o". This gives it a flattish u "fuh" sound as Dave said, but more importantly a falling/rising tone.
V'mese is the only tonal language that uses latin letters, thanks to a Jesuit colonialist who liberated Vietnam from Chinese characters. It's actually useful when you're there, as you can "read" quite a few things without really, you know, being able to read them. With characters there'd be nuthin' to work with.
But oh yeah the stuff is (can be) great. Been eating it regularly for decades. When my buddy would pick me up at Dulles on my return trips home from the overseas taxpayer-supported vacation, first thing we did: lunch at a pho place. Funny, when our local employees would ask what I missed about the US, I'd say Vietnamese and Mexican food. This puzzled them.

I still remember the chicken pho (pho ga - exaggerated down-tone on the "ga" - chicken pho instead of the usual beef-based) I had on the streets of Hanoi. A little old woman had what I called "restaurant on a stick". They had poles slung across their backs - one side had plastic chairs, bowls, etc., the other side a big covered cauldron of soup.
They'd put down the chairs, put a little burner under the soup pot, and ladle it out as you sat there. Fifty cents, maybe. Outstanding. Had it for breakfast one morning.
Shocked the then-gf's mother one time, insisted we go to a neighborhood pho place near the gf's house (Ton Son Nhut - airport district of Saigon). Mom didn't consider local places suitable, clean enough for a foreigner. Well the place was not very clean, but the soup was very good, and the looks on the locals' faces with the foreigner in their local pho hangout were memorable.

Maybe it's not a castellated nut? What I know as a castellated nut, "castle nut" for short, is simply an otherwise-normal hexagon nut with slots milled into the outer face so that a cotter pin can be passed through to secure it against backing off. You used to see this on the front wheel spindles of rear-wheel drive cars, for many decades.
What you describe sounds like it might be a trim nut of some sort that calls for a "spanner wrench". A spanner wrench looks kind of like a fork with two broad tines, and on those tines are metal pins to engage the slots of the nut.

This is not to say that the job was ever done to spec. I remember spiked stories from Vietnam, and I am 53. No telling when was the last time the job was done correctly.

Step Dad is Air Force, and he shoved it at me, the oldest of 4, non stop. I have him to thank for my 2 degrees, because before Mom married him when I was 15, I was really considering an AF hitch at least, if not a career via ROTC.
His knowing nothing about how to positively influence a late teenager worked out very well for me. So, I guess I at least have to thank him for that.

Just lost another one recently. Father of a buddy (retired SEAL) was almost 93. Carriers in WWII, lots of other naval aviation adventures in Korea and V'nam. Guy was hilarious, and amazing - he'd just flown to Indianapolis, rented a car, and driven all over the region visiting relatives and friends a few months ago - by himself.
So glad I dropped by on Veterans Day and burned a cigar with him.
The Commander now is at Ft. Rosecrans, overlooking San Diego Bay and all the ongoing naval activity of which he was so long a part. Miss you, Tuffy.

From what I heard about the Navy in WWII, the ships could quickly become floating slaughter houses.
My grandfather was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He had to take a boat to pick up bodies and body parts floating in the water after the attack.

Once the Goebbels bio is done it's next on the list.
Neptune's Inferno (Hornfischer) and At War with the Wind (forget) are also excellent WWII naval surface action/kamikaze accounts. And the ferocity and violence of the engagements comes through. Yowzah.

I served alongside some weekend warriors in Iraq, and for the most part, they knew their jobs. Some, understandably, were upset that their one weekend a month turned into a year in Iraq, but other than that...
I'd wait until after the election to decide to join active, ng, or reserves. With talk of more troops in Iraq and Syria, it would be in your best interest to wait after the dumbass in the WH vacates.

Do they not make coaster bikes, or three-speed bikes anymore? Ten-speed, and fifteen-speed mountain bikes use that goofy derailleur method of changing gears, which basically amounts to almost losing the chain on every gear change.
Three-speed bikes have planetary gearsets inside the hub, and are basically bullet-proof. The spacing between gear ratios is a lot wider than the multi-gear bikes, and purists scoff at that because you can't maintain pedaling cadence with such a big jump between gears. But maintaining cadence is mostly a purist thing, anyway. If the child just wants the bike for play, or running around town, a three-speed is fine. A coaster bike would be fine in flat country, too.

See this is helpful! You are better than anyone else on the internet. I had a 10 speed bike growing up, but I was also biking in the mountains of Colorado. We just live on a hill so the kidlet asked for a "mountain" bike to make peddling up a little easier. 3 speed sounds like the perfect solution.

Looks like Walmart, K-Mart, and Target all have a variety of 3-speed cruiser bikes for adults and kids alike. Probably Amazon, too. They seem to now have 3-speed hubs with built-in coaster brake. Back in the day, 3-speed bikes had hand brakes.

That takes time.
My house takes eight hours complete from stem-to-stern. One guy. Over one-hundred strings of lights. One-hundred lights per string.
It would cost significantly less the second year. Especially if you stored the lights yourself.
But... I'd still have to test the lights and replace them, as needed.
More hours.
"On-Call"? Do I need to replace a section of lights? A whole $30-$50 tree? A $50 reindeer?
This is a rich-man's game. Enjoy your $300 electric bill! It is the least of your worries.
