.That's because the pollsters are lazy and incompetent, they had the same errors with Grimes and McConnell, they were off 14 points then.
They continually only sample people in Louisville and Lexington which are heavily Democrat and they very rarely go out into the rural parts of Kentucky which is overwhelmingly Republican and has enough votes to counter both of those Cities.

The only downside of the election is that the terms of office got expanded by a diabolically worded proposition that tricked enough people into voting for it by pretending to institute term limits (which already existed). They got the terms expanded from 2 each three year terms to 2 each 4 year terms. So 8 years for each horrible mayor to do damage instead of 6.

I cannot dispute the facts on those troubling votes and missed votes. That said, I don't necessarily think they disqualify him, for me anyway. No one is going to be absolutely perfect on every issue for every person. But I think he has the least warts and most qualifications of the pack.

1. Length of time current party in power has held office. Advantage, Republicans.
2. Economic growth in quarters prior to election. Unless 0bama can get the economy cooking along at better than 3% in the coming year, advantage Republicans.

This, plus the fact that there are some of us who consider illegal and legal immigration to be two separate issues, and aren't all that concerned about legal immigrants. So Cruz's position on the matter doesn't bother me a whit.
The Corker Amendment; I know this goes against the orthodoxy of the blog, but I am not convinced that it was the betrayal that so many here . The Iran deal was going to happen regardless of what the Senate did, if for no other reason than it involved a bunch of European countries as well as the US, plus the legal background to the original sanctions was murky enough that Obama and company would have been able to wiggle around any vote against ratification of the not-technically-a-treaty and might even be within the law to do so. So, while I don't necessarily agree that it was the best approach to the situation I do think that at the very least there was a pretty good argument in its favor. In fact, it could be considered a protest vote of the kind that people are criticizing Cruz for not bother with in other situations...

In a way, he's the Republican Dindu Nuffin, at least politically. His training and expertise lie well outside politics, and what he says is, by and large, innocuous. He comes across as friendly and nonthreatening. Kinda like the family doctor.
That would hardly be a knock on him if he was running for, say, a state or Congressional gig where he could use the time after being elected to learn about the job. But we've already seen what a guy who comes out of nowhere -- from Left Field, you might say -- does when dropped into a position where he's in way over his head.

That is done by inflation. Before the Fed a quarter would buy $20 to $50 dollars of goods and services. The Fed is totally captured by their own dogma. Negative interest rates are deflationary but the Fed thinks negative rates are inflationary. They use to bleed people who were sick. Same thing. Money velocity will become negative as people buy real goods. This effect is what made Kennedy lower income taxes. eg 100% of nothing is still nothing. Hard to tax canned goods and clothes on people's backs. Obamacare?

This year they had a huge Star Wars themed Costume Ball and Halloween parade in Shibuya(the young people's section of Tokyo).

And you can pretty much buy them anywhere to set off your own self-
unlike most places here in the US.
And the YUUUUGE fireworks displays by the major cities like Tokyo or even, Hiroshima-
absolutely put to shame any 4th of July fireworks displays that I've seen here in the US.
Plus, beer, good food, and polite, clean crowds-

I think part of it is something akin to survivor guilt. Liberals feel guilty about developing the most civil, advanced, humane civilization, and they feel guilty for that.
But not all societies are like that. Israel still has a survival instinct. That's why so many suicidal liberal elites hate it.
Personally, I think survivor guilt is irrational and pathological. It is false guilt.
Of course.other liberals are driven by spite and envy (Alinsky). They groom this guilt in order to get societies to accede to their own destruction.

Son #3 who is kind of a f--kup needed money to get out of Florida after his job dried up. We gave him solid advice about what to do next, which he has rejected. Sigh.
