EMT 8/9/15 - [krakatoa]

Did anything happen this weekend? I've been completely disconnected from the world. Saturday was the first day of vacation, and I spent it all doing a few of the errands that have languished during the insane travel and string of weekend jobs this past 2 months.

Ahh the wonders of home ownership. At least we get the advantage of having an appreciating investment.

3 Good Morning Morons. Today is Sunday, August 09, 2015. On this day in 1945 an atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. 35,000 people were killed outright. But what you don't hear very often is that conventional bombing of Tokyo killed a lot more people. In the end the bombing of Nagasaki and Horoshima probably saved lives.

Pop Quiz:

If a house sells for $300,000 to a buyer who takes out an 80%, 15 yr mortgage at a rate of 4% ... then what is that same house worth if those mortgage rates go to 12%??

You can use a calculator ... or just wait a few years to find out.

P.S. Holding a huge fixed rate mortgage is a hedge against this price movement - the largest mortgage you can hold.

Very true. Luckily for Barky, destruction is one of the only tasks that requires no skill to accomplish - so long as someone else is stupid enough to give one control. A 5 year old wouldn't have a problem running a nuclear aircraft carrier aground if someone was dumb enough to put the kid in control of it.

After all, he has evaded impeachment for more than six years, has bankrupted the country, murdered many of its citizens (and lots of foreigners, too), place us and Israel in line for a nuclear wake-up call, crawled in front of our enemies, shown a bias for those who steal, kill and lie, and has in fact committed treason on more than one occasion.

What's he's "good" at, I don't know. But you don't build up an empire based on despotism and willful ignoring of the laws of man and G*d without having some mad skillz, do you?

Funny thing: I never thought the primary job of Congress, the military and law enforcement was to stop an out-of-control, America-hating, revenge-driven shitweasel from wreaking destruction on the country. That sounds too much like the plotline for a bad novel.

All I expected those people -- each of whom has sworn an oath -- to do was obey and uphold the laws and Constitution of the United States.

A simple thing, you would think People have been doing it for over 200 years, amirite? There's precedent, and even the Founders, who couldn't have conceived of all the changes that have happened since their time, built in safeguards to protect us from the enemy within. (And, though I will not advocate them here, they mandated punishments for the most severe violations of the law.)

If all were required to obey the laws, as was originally intended, we would not have just a rogue Preezy in prison. We'd have to lock up hundreds who aided and abetted him as well.

The Founders were nice enough to try to nip all these problems in the bud with the "natural born citizen" requirement ... but you remember how so many "conservatives" were aghast that anyone would even bring that up with respect to Barky's 2008 race. Even when Barky held the biggest campaign rally of all time - in a friggin foreign country ... for a bunch of friggin foreigners ... funded in part by a friggin foreign government (all totally illegal and the most repulsive political act ever) - it was impossible to get "Republicans" to put a stop to the criminality or, at the very least, want to get eligibility tested in court. It was clear back then what destruction was coming, given how so many were so happy to sweep aside all laws and all common sense and decency to let Barky do whatever popped into that 84 IQ pea-brain of his.

Oh well. Can't say that the state of things today is any surprise. People were warned at the very beginning.

It depends on what browser you are using. For the big browsers (I use Opera, for instance) you can look through for script-blocker plug-ins that you can download and activate. The most used script blocker is probably NoScript. It's pretty good and available on most browsers. What a script blocker does is disallow scripts to load from certain domains, which cuts off some nasty, intrusive, offensive or annoying scripts that may bother you or cause the page to take forever to load.

You should look for plug-ins for your browser and search for "script blocker". Also look to get an ad blocker (AdBlock Plus is good or Ghostery) and maybe a tracking blocker, too. You will get overlap with these programs but some sites have so much crap loading with them that you need to cover

It's really not as complicated as it sounds and it makes surfing the net so much easier and more pleasant. Sometimes you DO get problems with sites that require log-ins ... and you have to just mess around or turn off your blockers for that site, but generally it's all pretty easy.

Funny you should mention 2008. I well remember the uproar here and elsewhere when a few of us dared to question Choom Boy's eligibility for office. We were told in no uncertain terms that "going there" was Taboo.

Ditto when a few of us -- remarkably, some of the same people -- began to suggest that, based on his incessant violations of the law, the nation would be best served by impeaching the Mocha Messiah.

Now, some of those same people who admonished us harshly for being Unfair and Engaging in Bad Optics are howling for Trump's head, and extending their own pathetic Fairness Doctrine to a member of the media who deserves it only slightly more than President Historic FirstŠ.

Makes me wonder whose side those guardians of Choom Boy's honor were on in the first place....

Yep. Barky campaign donation web page had the AVS intentionally turned off (it is default ON and everyone leaves it on because they don't want ridiculous charge-backs) so that barky's credit card donations could be totally info free and allow gift cards for anonymous donations. All totally illegal, of course. Pam Geller started it all out by making a donation to Barky's campaign under the name John Galt and wrote about it. After that, lots of "conservative" blogs had threads where people were donating under all manner of name - Joseph Stalin, Bugs Bunny, ... and they were going through. That was enough to have Barky thrown out of the race and arrested. Campaign finance crimes are generally pretty serious. But, again, luckily for Barky he was running against a guy who, evidently, had no interest in campaign finance, at all. McShame, it turned out, lost all interest in campaign finance after McShame-Feingold and was happy to let Barky commit finance crimes in the open. What a guy!

Recall a few weeks ago a rather lengthy pow-wow between Cruz and Trump right here in Hymietown.

We have 15 months to go. It's a long way and the last debate will be old news within a news cycle or so. The thing about Trump, from my perspective is, he has tapped into a raging torrent of justly angered Americans who will seemingly support him no matter what he says/does, whether it's a real lollapalooza of a statement or twisted by the MFM. Plus, he's been in the public eye for decades, either loved or hated.

It would have been great if a Cruz, Walker, whomever could have been the one to harness "the force" but for now, I'm content to watch him kick over the tables and slap some people around.

It has a salutary effect, I think.

Posted by: J.J. Sefton at August 09, 2015 07:16 AM

JJ, to me the whole thing was simpler than that: it was about the public knowing the truth about Choom Boy. Was he eligible to be President? Was he ineligible? We (the horrible, terrible, no-good racist creeps who dared question His Holiness) wanted clarity. No more.

It is never bad to have the real, honest truth brought out. If our Little Tan God had the right pedigree to satisfy the Constitution, end of discussion. You don't offer "proof" made from evasions, jokes and a "document" that looked as phony as the fake IDs one can buy from a street vendor.

Yeah, I see damn near everything relating to the current Preezy as a black and white issue. Just not the "black and white issue" his enablers accuse me of.

If - and that is a YOOOJ "if" - he does win the nomination, then all bets are off. Should that possibility occur and - even more "yooojerer" - he should actually be elected president, I would hope and pray he uses his business sense to surround himself with people like Cruz, Sessions, Mike Lee, etc. et al.

But for now, keep dumping Tootsie Rolls in the mikvah.

If Reverend Wright and Frank Marshall Davis didn't do anything, nothing would. Especially since the MFM covered up for him all the way. Plus, Bush! And McStains was not exactly a stunner.

Besides, we had at least 16-24 years of conservatism being bled from the GOP platform and mission (if it was ever there to begin with) and the squandering of the Reagan legacy.

So, no wonder he won. And, schvartze.

So what happens if, by some weird old trick, Trump does become President?

At worst, I'm guessing he spends most of his early days in office rescinding Choom Boy's executive orders, tossing "treaties" in the ashcan, and trying to stabilize the economy so it looks like a better place for investment.

All the while, Congress -- no matter which party wins -- will be acting like the rest of the "Republican" candidates are now: they'll be petulant, whiny, red-faced children, jumping up and down and crying for their mommies, 'cause Trump doesn't love them like Choom Boy did.

In short, things will be stagnant but, for those who love the country, more comfortable.

Is that so bad? Nope.

Odd that you should ask. The semi annual field mice invasion has begun. Border patrol agents have been overrun and civilians are overwhelmed just clearing and resetting baited traps.

I blame the GOP for failing to adequately fund field mice control agents. Without federal funding, we are in a desperate struggle to repel the manancial suicide bombers. If Senator McCain would just visit the battlefield he would see the desperate need our meager forces have for new weapons and advanced training. Without new weapons, this war is lost.

That was part of the discussion -- though implied, not explicit, and most people tiptoes around it on little cat feet -- in a thread yesterday.

And in truth it has been applied to Choom Boy, but in a she's-asking-for-it-so-it's-okay way: remember the '08 campaign when the female MFMers (and probably a few of the males) were rhapsodizing over the Mocha Messiah's tight Levi's?

125 Trump may be the "hope and change" the burn-it-down crowd has been waiting for. If the GOPe continues to "other" Trump, to the point where he can ascribe a failure to win the nomination as being cheated, a lot of his supporters will respond with a big F-You to the GOP on election day, and the Dems will win again. Another 8 years of Dem rule ought to do the trick, especially if it's Warren.

It's terribly ironic that as I was reading the comments this morning, it struck me that if we could elect Bill Clinton again, it would be like a centrist picnic compared to these last 7 years of America-hating hell we've had to live through. At least Clinton was happy to let the country continue to live, as long as he got enough sex. (Hillary's a different matter.)

126 No one, absolutely no one, has done what Trump has done. At least one of the flavor of the month so-called "conservatives" should have done "this" in 2012. Those who call themselves conservative really need to take a close look. The precious way that brand is worn sometimes feels almost un-American. We don't need Trump to develop a "conservative news channel" (do you realize exactly how that sounds?); we need Trump to fund a new channel. We need a Fourth Estate or our rep-dem is cooked. We need something like Ace of Spades (not so personally -- and creatively -- driven) on the large scale. If we had anything like investigative journalism, no one would like the "bastards" (us and them -- everyone is corruptible, even without knowing it). Everyone would get grilled.

I have my doubts about Trump; but I have despair about changes coming from anyone who has been touched by politics. Fool me once.....Trump is MainStreet; you and I are MainStreet. It is global Wall Street that is permitting TheBigO to pull any chain he chooses; they elected him in the first place. Untouchable because of his "color", even with slave-owning ancestors.

I will follow anyone who will burn it down (out the corrupt political plutocrats and cut off the CronyCorp CofCrats) or who has a whiff of a chance to do so. Not even Cruz, who has done his anti-conservative time like all of them when push comes to shove, can do it or has the will to do it -- even though he seems to have more of it than most. Most importantly of all, "not even Cruz" has the funding to do it. If you don't go Donald at this time, you get BooshTheThird. It is all set up for this outcome. See conservativetreehouse.c. I see no evidence, absolutely no evidence, to prove sundance wrong. We have been had over and over and over again. No more.

140 I saw part of the second debate at a community center with some of my fellow conservatives. I will say the debate was for ratings, not information transfer. Our media is an agitprop, propaganda and memory hole industry.

I'm beyond frustrated with the entire process. I do not believe that elections can fix the problems. This is too much like the typical third-world "one person, one vote, one time" system. The illegals invading the country (an infantry division worth every month) are being bribed with our money to vote Democratic. Add to that the increasingly sophisticated cheating from the last two elections and I expect the Democrats to sweep into most federal offices, including the President and VP.

An organization that wants to win, as opposed to "GOPe failure theater" and raking in donations, would have a unity ticket with lesser lights as Cabinet choices. This is candidate ego over country improvement.

Any common sense from Trump could be lost in the protracted infantilism of the soi-disant Washingtom demimonde. He needs to have effective staff members.

The Republic is gone, replaced with a weird Chamber of Commerce / liberal fascist proto-police state. Not that it matters. He is a sign of great voter anger that will be disregarded by the insiders in control.
