And not just a run-of-the-mill illegal alien on welfare. She’s one of the hundreds of thousands of deportation fugitives — absconders – whom I’ve been reporting on for the past six years. After 9/11, the government vowed to crack down on absconders. They’ve failed abysmally.

Of course the government failed... but the failure at hand is the one of the MSM to uncover this information earlier. I know the deportation fugitives aren't an easily solved problem, but I think fair and deep coverage of a presidential candidate is. The real scandal here is that Obama has close relatives living in poverty. Obama doesn't really seem to be interested in help. One can only speculate about this at this point. I do wish that before Obama takes off with my wealth to redistribute it, that he would lead by example and distribute his own wealth. At least then I'd know he cares.

I will lay 90 percent of the blame at the feet of the mainstream media. If they would have done reports of Obama showing some of his years in college, his time at the Harvard Law Review, a small amount of true facts about his beliefs, and a short list of some of his criminal friends, this election would be much different. I personally don't believe he is even remotely qualified to be President. This is a good time to buy gold and pray.

Red Phantom: Point well taken on the Government getting into the banking system and you're right. We've been steadily inching towards a socialistic society for quite some time. Proof positive is that the "Conservative" nominee is responsible for the abomination of McCain/Feingold, agrees with the bailout, and is trying to "out Democrat" the Democrat on many social issues by big government answers. The Government officials feel quite comfortable telling taxpayers what to eat, what to smoke, how to run businesses, what to teach, who gets what and when, and it goes on and on and it has penalties for each and every one of them. "If it walks like a duck...." I live from paycheck to paycheck but even I realize that I use the roads, bridges, military, federal law enforcement, tourist attractions, and so on that the rich already pay for. I want them to get richer so they can give me work so I can get rich and when a politician wants to "spread their wealth" more than they already do (over 86% of all taxes)and give it to someone who pays nothing then that's a socialist. It is in essence: redistribution and that's the socialist mantra and using the government to do it is no different than Cuba or Venezuela except they don't disguise it.

Most presidents make changes to the tax code, and each such change redistributes wealth. Everyone making under $250,000 gets a tax cut under Obama, whereas McCain wants to extend Bush's tax cuts on the wealthy. Both redistribute wealth, neither is socialism.

Fair enough. I didn't like it either, but as they say there are no atheists in foxholes and no libertarians in a financial crisis. I guess if I were a politician and I was convinced that a systemic financial meltdown was at hand I'd have done the same thing. Obama's a constitutional scholar. He's a classic American success story. He could have been very rich right out of law school but instead worked towards what he sees as improving the nation.
On the other hand, Todd Palin joining the Alaskan Separatist Party is traitorous. If you don't love this country, get out. If he's repented I haven't heard about it.

Socialism is by definition the collective ownership of the means of production. You can argue about this until you are blue in the face, but that's what the dictionary and every econ 101 class says.
Most presidents make changes to the tax code, and each such change redistributes wealth. Everyone making under $250,000 gets a tax cut under Obama, whereas McCain wants to extend Bush's tax cuts on the wealthy. Both redistribute wealth, neither is socialism.

No, socialism is the collective ownership of the means of production. It has always meant that. Your side uses it as a vague slur against Obama but it makes no sense. I don't know what your problem with Obama is exactly, but he's a capitalist just like everyone else. I've never even met a socialist. It's a dying movement.

Fair enough. I didn't like it either, but as they say there are no atheists in foxholes and no libertarians in a financial crisis. I guess if I were a politician and I was convinced that a systemic financial meltdown was at hand I'd have done the same thing. I'd be much happier if the bill eliminated bonuses for all executives that received the bailout.

All you can do is what I (we) did. Don't give up.
Realize you did not give enough personal time the last time. Find candidates you believe in and put your feet on the ground and make calls.
In 2010 your personal effort that you did not make this time can be the difference...
If as individuals, we are not willing to put our own personal effort(voting and signs in our yard do not count)then we truly don't believe in what we say we believe in..
(That is why Bush won in 2004 and Obama will win this time)
