Laser Printers are Deadly!

Stop printing or you will die!!!

That's the message from Lidia Morawska, PhD, director of the International Laboratory for Air Quality and Health at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia, and colleagues. They have done some testing and determined that some printers -- and they cannot identify which ones -- emitted high levels of particles.

To show that Ms. Morawska is completely biased, she declared:

There should be regulations

In other words, she wants more, bigger government to protect people from themselves. A person interested in freedom would have declared, "Here is the information and the risk. Now people are smart enough to decide if they want to take risks or not." But not Ms. Morawska. She demands that government quickly start passing new regulations. I wonder if she'd prefer a new government department of "printer emission regulation." Of course they'd need hundreds of employees, all paid a "living wage" of at least $50,000 per year. And they'd need enforcement agents with arrest powers.

Oh, how I yearn for freedom.

Nation of Laws?

Is this country a nation of laws or a nation of men?

Is "intent" a portion of the law, or not?

In one case, we have massive "hate crimes" that punish thoughts. In another, we punish "intentions." But sometimes, depending on the political correctness of the crime, apparently, we punish based solely on actions, with no regard to intent.

So how in the world does one obey the laws and not get in trouble today in America? Do and think only what you are told, when you are told it. How is that not scary as hell?

As has been said throughout the ages:

In an unjust nation, the place of a just man is in jail.

CMS Education Spending

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) are desperate. They simply don't have enough money. They're complaining about massive cuts they've had to make because the county won't give them enough money. But what is it, exactly, that they're doing with their money? They just recently spent $80,000. Now, if you wanted to help schools and education, what would you do with $80,000?

How much could you buy with $80,000, if you wanted to help educate children. Maybe you could hire a couple teachers. Maybe you could pay for a few part-time teachers' aides. How many classroom supplies could you buy with $80,000? How many bus drivers could you supply? How many computers could you purchase to outfit classrooms? $80,000 sure could help a lot of students get educated -- if CMS actually wanted to educate anyone.

Instead, they spent $80,000 to hire "mystery shoppers" to gage customer service responses! $80,000. The average mystery shopper job earns around $10. Either CMS hired 8,000 shoppers (highly unlikely), or they paid these "mystery shoppers" a TON of money.

Yes, instead of buying supplies for children, instead of helping educate children; this school system actually spent tens of thousands of dollars on a project they could have done for free by simply asking the parents for results. And they're defending this massive expenditure because "the data gives each school and department irrefutable evidence of the problems and ways to make improvements." In other words, they're actually claiming that they thought the system was perfect before.

Again, please note: the purpose of government education is the system -- they have ZERO interest in educating students. They want to spend money on the system, but NOT on education.

Food Terrorists

I'm not sure why, but when I read about Harvey and the Chee-Had, for some reason I couldn't help but think about "How to Defend Yourself From Fresh Fruit."

Someone please tell me that we're not actually using tax dollars to train the homeland security people like this. Oh, never mind, DHS is likely too busy arresting and jailing dangerous leafleteers.

Peace in Africa

I wish we could have more peace.

Instead, we're sending 26,000 people to Darfur. They're "peacekeeping" troops, but they're heading there for war. It is highly likely there will be lots of killing and death. Why can't we have peace?

Of course, there's already been as many as 125,000 people that have already been killed in the Darfur region in the past few years. So when the "UN" troops arrive, don't blame the new arrivals for the deaths. Don't blame the "invading force" for lack of peace. The lack of peace comes from the people who are currently living in Darfur that continue to kill one another.

I don't like killing and death. I wish they would just stop. Why can't we have more peace? I call on all the Muslims in Darfur to stop killing one another today so we can have peace.

Right to Pee in the Pool

Did you know that you have a Constitutionally protected civil right to pee in private pools? Suzanne Malcom, of Akron, OH and the Ohio government bureaucrats in the Ohio "Fair Housing Association" both agree that there is such a right. And if you deny someone their right to urinate in a privately-owned pool, then you are a criminal.

And yes, there is a slimy lawyer that Ms. Malcom has hired to represent her, and who apparently agrees with Ms. Malcom and the "Fair Housing Association" that she and her children have a right to urinate in private property.

Since this is the case, I think Ohio needs to consider repealing any criminal laws against urinating in public because the unelected bureaucrats of the "Fair Housing Association" have decreed that those laws are null and void. If they do not, then the condominium association should watch the child and call the police to demand he be arrested to public disturbance and public urination if he dares to pee in the pool. And they should sue Ms. Malcom and the "Fair Housing Association" for all costs associated with complying with any and all health and safety measures.

But alas, no, instead what will likely happen is they will be forced to close the pool. In fact, this is likely a good solution -- because it will be cheaper to close the pool and they can re-open later when the child is potty trained or has moved away. It's absolutely amazing how selfish some people can be today.

Light Rail Noise

A guest editorial by Mark A. Palmer

Recently, people have been outraged over the noise that is occurring from the testing of the light rail alignment and train crossings. City officials have said the noise that the residents hear is for safety, the testing is to avoid accidents from happening. Well, the neighborhoods better get use to that noise and more, along the south corridor. This is only a taste of whats coming, so prepare yourselves for horns, traffic congestion, both noise and air pollution from idling cars. Trains have not ran like this for over 15 years along various parts of the south corridor, but now the traffic congestion and noise pollution, will more than double.

We find it ironic; that people are starting to complain about the noise, just from the testing of light rails safety features. Imagine the noise when it is regularly running on schedule. So many people have been cheering and wanting light rail, we guess they hadnt thought the noise factor and then again, perhaps they thought it was a silent train.

If you asked CATS in meetings about noise from the light rail, you would receive mixed messages. Some of us were taken out of the meetings if we questioned CATS, so called experts. CATS officials liked to always down play the noise issue, just like many other safety and accessibility issues. CATS would compare the noise concerns, as to no different than basic traffic noise, which is not true. Question, why do you think that many cities have buried their rail trains? Could one of the main reasons been the extreme noise of light rail generates? And this was a way to sequester that noise. According to CATS they say NO because they claim their train is electric, however they still have noise issues, due to the horns, and the other noises involved with trains operations. According to city officials in Washington, DC. they say Yes there is noise pollution with their metro-rail, that is one of the reasons they, buried their rail line.

Many cities have used berm walls block out the noise, times it worked and other cases they only amplified the sound through an echo effect. These berm walls are costly and have usually met with mixed reviews. Still, it comes down to the type, design of the rail train well as the design of the berm wall itself to be successful or not. One thing that can not be halted anyway is noise from the horn and additional congestion. Like in New Yorks Manhattan many people are opposed to having light rail due to the noise problems and congestion it causes. There has been a verity of lawsuits about noise problems and congestion already.

City of Yorba Linda, CA. sued City of Anaheim, CA. over the sound wall it was building, in 2001. An agreement was reached by the cities: Anaheim could build the wall, but had to contribute financially for a berm and wall on Yorba Lindas side of the tracks. There has been almost 600 tress plant as well to help impact train noises and still many residents are still complaining. The complaints have varied from person to person, but the two main complaints city officials have received are about the design of the wall, as well as the noise. People have been upset that other methods were not chosen, as burry the rail line.

Group of residents is along the Hudson Bergen Light Rail line in New Jersey. The group of residents wants to tone down the noise of air horns and the screeching steel wheels that come from light rail train.

Recently, Transit Committee chairman Albert F. Cafiero said that buses are cheaper compared to light rail. Still, light rail has been pushed even with the lawsuits, noise, congestion problems and loss of revenue. One asks why, what can be their motive?

The answer is simple to use as a selling point of getting cars out of the city. In the plans that discuss New Yorks Light Rail, there is a section that talks about congestion and pushes for a solution which is getting arid of cars in the downtown area. What, I have to rely on public transportation and be without a car, no way. The selling points are less congestion, better environment and more convenience, oh really? Well try more congestion less convenience and more money for city officials. Question, how about if an emergency occurred, you need direct transportation to respond, not a train.

Hard research facts on both sides say, that mass transit will not ease traffic congestion that the idling of cars, in high density areas like uptown will add to the pollution. What is next? Are they going to start fining cars that idle, like they do in NY City? Rockland drivers will soon face criminal penalties for leaving their vehicles idling for more than three minutes. The Rockland County Legislature passed the idling bill in April, 2007.

The law carries fines as much as one thousand dollars and 15 days in jail. Some drivers might be ticketed for letting vehicles idle for more than three minutes to keep the air conditioning on for disabled passengers while they are loading and unloading. Some exemptions to the law include emergency vehicles and vehicles stuck in traffic. Also exempted are vehicles that need to have the engine running to perform services or for cargo temperature control. How ever there are versions out there that don't exempt truckers, so woe to the truckers who use this corridor, can you imagine the cost to them?

When they idle their trucks to cool their cabins and sleep? If something like this is passed in Charlotte, imagine the impact to the truckers who use the I-85 route. The cost of shipping will sky rocket. Then of course there are those who would argue to buy locally, well there just some things you cannot get locally. Laws like this, will outlaw cars, make things more difficult in our transportation needs, rather than ease things as promised.

Is this the future for parts of Charlotte? This has been discussed already for Charlottes downtown. Charlotte has done a piss poor job of laying out the south corridor; just the costs alone have reflected that. The noise pollution will be like living in New York City and those living by the tracks or area; can kiss good-bye to those quiet nights of sitting on the porch.

Peace

Now I've been happy lately,
thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be,
something good has begun

Oh, the good things that are in store for us!

Oh I've been smiling lately,
dreaming about the world as one
And I believe it could be,
some day it's going to come

Can you imagine? The world at peace? No killing and dying?

Cause out on the edge of darkness,
there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country,
come take me home again

Oh, come on peace train! Come take this country on a ride. I want peace!

Now I've been smiling lately,
thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be,
something good has begun

If everyone would work together, we could have peace. For everyone.

Oh peace train sounding louder
Glide on the peace train
Come on now peace train
Yes, peace train holy roller

Here it comes! Peace on earth! No war, but peace!

Everyone jump upon the peace train
Come on now peace train

Get your bags together,
go bring your good friends too
Cause it's getting nearer,
it soon will be with you

The time is now! Come, everyone, join with me. Let us have peace now. Why must there be more dying and killing?

Now come and join the living,
it's not so far from you
And it's getting nearer,
soon it will all be true

It's not so far. It's not so hard. Join me in peace.

Now I've been crying lately,
thinking about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating,
why can't we live in bliss

Why can't we have peace? Why won't people live in peace?

Cause out on the edge of darkness,
there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country,
come take me home again

It's still there! We can have peace now. So let's have it. I call on Muslims around the world to stop attacking and killing Americans in the name of a false prophet. Instead, please, let us have peace, and let us have peace now.

NC Democrats Punish Poor

Democrats in North Carolina have completed their sweep this year in punishing those who produce in North Carolina -- HARD. They raised the sales tax across the state. They authorized counties to raise the sales tax even more -- so many counties across North Carolina can now look forward to a whopping seven percent sales tax. In addition, they approved the tax on moving -- up to 0.6% of a home's price (for this week, look for increases soon). So now if you want to move anywhere in the state, it's likely that you'll pay that tax as punishment for moving.

Whenever the government taxes an activity, there will be less of that activity. And when the taxes apply to all, the poor are always the hardest hit. Now the poor people will have a harder time buying, well, anything because everything now costs MORE because the sales tax applies to everyone. In addition, the new tax on moving will make it more difficult for people to move. Those who are having trouble making their house payments will now have a harder time resolving those problems.

Nicely done, Democrats. Make it more expensive for people to live in North Carolina AND make it harder for them to move away. Tell me again how Democrats "support the poor?" Quick, before the taxes go into effect, I suggest moving to New Hampshire: no sales tax, no state income tax.

Judge to People: Bite Me

Once again, the men in black robes have decided that the people are too stupid to have a government themselves. An unelected political appointee has once again declared: "You people are stupid. You're not smart enough to make your own laws. Instead, I, in my supreme glory, will tell you what you should do and what you should not do. Oh, and that silly 'Constitution' thing? That will apply and mean what I say it does, when I say it does, and at no other time."

What a schmuck. Judge Munley says that it's "unconstitutional" that the people have a law against, well, breaking the law. He basically claimed that "residents" have all the rights and protections of all people -- even if the residents are breaking the law. He ruled that if a business would suffer "irreparable harm" by NOT breaking the law, then they should be allowed TO break the law. Seriously, he ruled that.

In other words, let's say I set up a legal business, for example, selling blocks. If the majority of my income from selling blocks comes from people who rob banks, and I would go out of business if robbing banks was illegal; then according to this judge, robbing banks should not be illegal. That's what this maroon actually said:

U.S. District Judge James Munley ruled that landlords, tenants and businesses that cater to Hispanics faced irreparable harm from the laws and issued a temporary restraining order blocking their enforcement

Once again, the message from the judge is clear: "Shut up you peons. I love illegals, and I'm supporting them no matter what you want." I say again: America is no more.

Voters to NOT pay for free sex!

I wonder how many crap spams I'll get off that title.

I'm not trying to get spam, I'm trying to write the headline more accurately. When you read, "College Students Forced to Pay More," you might think that some price increase has happened that effects college students in a bad way. However, while that is clearly the intent of that headline, it's very (intentionally) misleading!

My headline is much more accurate.

You see, the college students aren't forced to do anything. In this case, they are buying something because they WANT to. There's ZERO health risks of any sort if they don't buy it. So to say they're forced is simply wrong. And then let's look at why they're paying more for this optional thing that they are buying because they WANT to:

Up until now, you and I have been paying the vast majority of the cost for this item. The "poor" college student is just paying a small amount because the government, with our tax dollars, is helping them to pay for this optional item that they want (and do NOT need). So they're going to have to pay more because you and I are not paying as much for this item that we're not getting any benefit from. To say that they're paying more is, again, intentionally deceptive.

And what is this item that they are so upset about paying more for? Why it's birth control! Yes folks, you and I, through the government, have been paying piles of cash to college students so they can have free, irresponsible sex! With our tax money, we've been paying so that women at colleges can have birth control so they can have sex at will without the "worry" about getting pregnant. Don't you love government use of money? Heck, without government, people who have sex might get pregnant! And we simply cannot have people actually be held responsible for their actions, can we?

So until now, the taxpayer has been paying enormous piles of money to ensure that college students can have worry-free sex. After this change, we're simply paying less. We're still letting them have their sex without a purpose, we're just asking them to actually pay for the free sex.

Now read that original headline again and tell me there wasn't an agenda at work there.

NC to Reduce Presidential Influence

North Carolina is preparing to ensure that presidential candidates no longer visit or care about the state -- the country's 8th largest (population-wise). How? By getting rid of the winner take all electoral college system that has been in place for hundreds of years. Why? One reason and one reason alone: because Democrats are tired of losing.

You see, in North Carolina Democrats retain control of government (and have for over 100 years) by gerrymandering. They continue to place Republicans in large districts and Democrats in small districts to ensure they will always have a majority. In fact, the primary reason that Jim Black, former Speaker of the House (Democrat) is going to federal prison for 5 years is because he openly broke the law to ensure Democrats would retain control.

Despite the gerrymandering, the Democrats have absolutely been unable to win the presidential election in 27 years. Seriously. For the last 27 years, the people of North Carolina have desired, and voted for, the Republican candidate for president. That has given as many as 15 electoral votes to the Republican candidate. Democrats in North Carolina are sick and tired of people getting to pick who they want to vote for -- so they're changing the rules.

With this move, Democrats will greatly reduce North Carolina's influence in presidential elections. North Carolina will suddenly have the power of Alaska, Delaware, and North Dakota. Do you think presidential candidates campaign in or care about those states AT ALL? That's what North Carolina will become -- because under this new law, already approved by Democrats in the Senate, any given area of the state will only be worth 3 presidential electoral college votes. And one of those votes will be pre-determined. Here's how it works:

The Democrats gerrymander the Congressional districts. There is ZERO competition in ANY federal Congressional district at all. EVERY single one of those districts is drawn specifically for one political party -- the other party has absolutely no chance of getting elected in that district. Therefore, ALL those electoral college votes will be pre-determined -- there will be no point in even holding those elections because I can easily predict right now, with 100% certainty, how all those districts will vote for president. That takes care of 13 of the electoral college votes. The remaining TWO will be determined by statewide choice. In other words, the Democrats are specifically taking votes away from the people.

Of course Democrats openly lie here, claiming that this will increase voter participation. That's lying. Even MORE votes will be predetermined (which is exactly what the Democrats want), giving people LESS of a reason to vote. This is the Democrat Party machine at work in North Carolina: ensuring that voting matters less and less so they can retain power in perpetuity -- no matter what.

This bill will likely pass. And Democracy in North Carolina will be greatly reduced -- which, again, is exactly what Democrats in North Carolina want.

Lone Protester?

Wow. Have you read about the lone protester? At least the police managed to show up and lock this dangerous fellow away. I mean, after all, he was standing on a public road holding a sign. We simply cannot have those people disrupting illegal aliens at work!

So yes, your tax dollars help to pay for the hours of time of the police department in arresting, charging, and taking the man to court for protesting the illegal aliens who were being paid less than the minimum wage. And no, none of the police did anything about the crime being committed by the illegals just a few yards away from where they arrested the horrible man, Terry Funderburk, for "cursing."

As Terry noted -- apparently in today's society, it is a MUCH more severe crime to protest and say a "bad" word than to employ illegals and pay them less than minimum wage (and perhaps even under the table) -- because he's the one in court while the criminal aliens continue to work. Nice selective enforcement, Columbia, SC. At least he didn't do something REALLY dangerous that would send him to jail -- like distribute leaflets!

NC Voter Fraud

Democrats across North Carolina agree: voter fraud is good for Democracy. The Democrats in the Senate have now passed the bill that will allow and encourage YOU, yes you, to vote in North Carolina -- even if you don't happen to live here, or even if you're not a citizen of North Carolina.

This is more democracy for North Carolina and its citizens

Again, with the government newspeak. By "democracy," they mean "voting without restrictions, including meeting basic requirements like citizenship." So yes, if your goal is more votes cast, rather than more votes cast by actual citizens of the districts, indeed, this is "more" democracy. For all people who want to vote in North Carolina in the 2008 presidential election (no matter what state or country you are a citizen of):
Within a few weeks of the election (any day, really, in the 2-1/2 weeks leading up to an election -- whatever's convenient for you), get a copy of a bank statement. Try not to use a local bank (to you) -- but any BankAmerica or other nationwide bank will do. Use Google maps (or the Yellow Pages) to locate an address in the county in which you'd like to vote. If you want to vote in more than one county, feel free to obtain more than one address. Print out a label with your name (actually, any name will do, they're not going to check or anything) and the address in North Carolina. Place that label on your bank statement. Then show up at the local "early voting" location in North Carolina with that bank statement, and vote away.

It's as simple as that because Democrats want MORE people to cast votes, no matter what. Once again, welcome to the Democrat Party version of "free and fair" elections.
