Mishap with a curling iron? Poor kitty.
I used to have a cat with a tail shaped like a bent-up coat hanger. The vet says he was probably born that way.

Always. Absolutely Always.

That is caused by the cat shaking its head and breaking a blood-vessel. They sometimes fill with blood and harden up and will stay that way.
I have a cat with that same problem, same ear. He is 15 years old.
Had a blueheeler that broke down both ears as well.
Might check em for ear mites.

Yup, that's what the vet said -- he checked both ears rather throughly, and there were none there!
Thanks for the tip, loboinok!

Mission: Impossible III
New preview images have been posted for the Mission:Impossible III movie. You can see them by following the link that's part of the image below.
For those who don't like Tom Cruise, you won't want to take a peek. As has seemed to have happened over the years, many of his later movies seem to be about him, rather than about the story. I'm hoping that won't be the case with this movie (to be released May 5 of this year) -- but the preview images do feature him.
I think it's for the draw. I'm betting the majority of my female readers at least find him non-repulsive to look at, even if they don't like him...

Crinkle Ear
Does you cat have crinkle ear?

Mine does. But no, that picture is not my cat. I'm still trying to get a good picture of his crinkle ear.
It's a weird thing -- apparently, according to the vet, if a cat shakes it's head too hard, the ear might slap against the skull too hard, causing a blood vessel in the ear to break. This causes a flow of blood into the ear, which twists the ear all out of shape.
Even after the blood is removed (naturally, by the body), the ear remains strecthed and twisted out of shape. Weird. Very weird.
So, anyone else ever seen crinkle ear? (I'll try and get some better pictures of my cat's ear later this evening for those who REALLY want to see it...)

Mexico Attacks America
I know it's Friday, and I try and make things lighter on Friday, but sometimes it just doesn't work. Sigh.
So, have you seen any headlines in the news about
Mexico attacking America? Well, they have -- and this isn't the first time. When bullets fly from a foreign country into America at American citizens and law enforcement, that's an act of war. Of course, in today's absolutely moronic world of "multiculturalism" (pronounced BULLSPIT), it's MEXICO who is outraged.
Folks, there is a war going on beyond the war on terror. America is being invaded by a foreign country. That country is Mexico. Mexico, with full knowledge and support of it's government, is invading and attacking America -- but it would be Politically Incorrect to say anything about it, so we continue sending cash to Mexico!
The enemy, led by Vicente Fox, is also demanding a "full investigation" into the shooting of a Mexican invader. One of the attacking force was killed by a defender in America and Mexico is outraged. This is not about race, this is about preserving America -- and there's a LARGE number of people who are against us -- including a large number already inside our borders.

I wonder if I could use the same defense that Mexico is using? Let's say I bust into somebody's house at 2am, while the owners are home, and they shoot me.
Lying in the hospital, I claim that the owner who shot me was rascist against poor Jewish people, and they should not only pay for my hospital bill, but send money to my poor extended family.

Just as we were invaded years ago by the trash of Europe. The Irish, Jews and Italian pestilence was as much trouble to our land then as the Mexicans are now. People are very simple they do what they think is in their best interest. If we allow those who really want to be part of the United States to come (as we used to) and give up their prior citizenship and fillout forms showing they are not terrorist then we can solve the problems. New immigrants will pay taxes and follow our laws. I have no tolerance for illegals but I think a lot of someone who would give up their birth nationality to become a part of this country. I would like to see that be a realistic legal possibility again.
Punish illegal immigration, allow for realistic legal immigration.

I say put up a HUGE WALL like the Berlin Wall along the border so that no one from Mexico can get in here, and no one from here can get in there. So, fine - you can setup some crappy whorish bars in San Diego instead of having to go to Tijuana...
We'll get over it.

Excellent, Mindflame. I support legal immigration -- with quotas. Isn't it interesting that it's OK to have quotas when minorities benefit, but immigration quotas are racist?
And the wall, Pauly, is closer to a reality than you might think!

$150 Million for racists in Charlotte
The Charlotte City Council is preparing to give $150+ million to racists in Charlotte so they can rebuild a racist museum that prohibits free expression and exhibits unless you have dark skin color. And no, they don't have a plan to pay for it.
They will claim that the money for the Racist Cultural Center for Non-Whites will not be paid for with property taxes -- but that's exactly how the city gets their money. Once again, government ONLY gets money when they take it from productive citizens.
The city will claim that they will raise the car-rental tax to pay for it -- but that's $150+ million that will no longer be available to pay for needed things like police and roads -- so property taxes will have to be raised to pay for police (if the Democrat-controlled council will allow police, which is unlikely).
But don't worry -- to get the public's support of this huge cash payment to the Racist No-Whites-Allowed Heritage Center, the city will include in the vote millions more dollars to give to private businesses -- a minor league baseball team.
And why does the Cultural Center of Hating White People need more money? Because they're going broke because they can't raise enough money themselves in the free market to survive.
If you live in Charlotte and work, as I've told you before -- Get Out before you don't have enough money left to leave.

NC Democrat Leader hates Workers
No, really. The leader of the Democrats in the North Carolina Senate clearly does not like people who earn money. In fact, he wants to punish them severely if they happen to have children.
Senator Marc Basnight
said that people should pay tuition based on their incomes. So when you were trying to price a college for your child (or yourself), the first question you would be asked is, "How much did you earn last year?"
There's no word on exactly how much he'd penalize those who are productive in society, nor how much he would reward those who are lazy bums. However, this would certainly guarantee that students would have time to complete their "studies" -- NO ONE would work -- they'd only be penalized for working!
In case you forgot -- this is one of the very top elected Democrats in North Carolina showing you the real face of the Democrat Party in North Carolina.

They already have that system in place, it's called Student Loans.
First hand experience:
Loans (yes, loans) are based on how much your parents make, they make "too much" money and you can't get a Loan.
I got loans for 3 years, all based on how much my parents made and the color of my skin and this was 20 years ago.
Posted by: Machelle at January 06, 2006 01:46 PM (ZAyoW)
3
But the loans, you see Machelle, don't bother the "rich." The "rich" can pay for school with pocket change and it's just not fair. With this system, we can penalize those darn "rich" people and make them pay MORE so government can get even MORE money and distribute it to the "poor."

Marines in Iraq
A U.S. Marine squad was marching north of Basra when they came upon an Iraqi terrorist, badly injured and unconscious. On the opposite side of the road was an American Marine in similar but less serious state.
The Marine was conscious and alert and as first aid was given to both men, the squad leader asked the injured Marine what had happened.
The Marine reported, "I was heavily armed and moving north along the highway here, and coming south was a heavily armed insurgent. We saw each other and both took cover in the ditches along the road.
"I yelled to him that Saddam Hussein is a miserable, lowlife, scumbag, and he yelled back that Senator Ted Kennedy is a good-for-nothing, fat, left wing liberal drunk. So I said that Osama Bin Laden dresses and acts like a frigid, mean spirited woman!"
He retaliated by yelling, "Oh yeah? Well so does Hillary Clinton!"
"And, there we were, standing in the middle of the road, shaking hands, when a truck hit us."

ACLU Blogburst
We at the Stop The ACLU blog and BlogBurst have been founded with the goal of bringing public awareness of the Anti-American activities of the American Civil Liberties Union. The fact is, the only thing about the ACLU that is American is the first word in the title of their organization. And this has been true since their founding.
We have been focused on the two prominent co-founders Roger Baldwin and Crystal Eastman; but the truth is that there were 7 others. People like Upton Sinclair and Clarence Darrow just to name a couple. But the most notorious of the founding "fathers" of the American Civil Liberals Union (no I didn't spell that wrong) was Elizabeth "Gurley" Flynn.
Ms. Flynn was the co-founder who ended up being the National Chairman of the Communist Party in the US. A devout Communist who made several trips to the Soviet Union after the denunciation of Communism by Roger Baldwin in 1940. A move which had motives other than those publicized.
The public appearance of the denunciation was to give the illusion of distancing active members of the Communist party from the ACLU. When in fact it was a statement meant to be felt by Josef Stalin. Stalin enjoyed the support of people like Baldwin in the United States before the outbreak of war in Europe. Baldwin and Eastman being the strict pacifists that they were, had a total opposition to the Soviet Union entering the war. But they also saw the Soviet-German non-aggression treaty as a crime against the good Soviet people. So Flynn expulsion from the Executive Committee was a farce.
Flynn was indoctrinated into the Socialist mindset by her parents. At the age of 16 she gave her first speech on socialism entitled "What Socialism Will Do For Women." A speech which subsequently got her expelled from high school.
At the age of 17 Flynn became an organizer for the International Workers of the World (IWW) and her career as a full time Socialist began. In 1920 she joined forces with Roger Baldwin, Crystal Eastman, Upton Sinclair, Clarence Darrow, Norman Thomas, Jane Addams, and John Dewey to form what we now know as the American Civil Liberties Union.
In 1936, Flynn joined the
Communist Party in the United States. She wrote a feminist column for the Communist propaganda sheet the
Daily Worker. Two years later, she was elected to the National Committee.
During World War II, Flynn worked tirelessly to get equal pay for women and establish day care centers for working mothers. Efforts which we here at Stop The ACLU applaud. Because contrary to the popular leftist belief, we here have strong feelings about the true equality of men and women of all races, creeds, and religions.
In 1942, she ran for Congress At-Large in New York and received only 50,000 votes.
After the war in 1948, 12 members of the Communist Party were arrested for plotting to overthrow the government by use of violence. Flynn attempted to gain their release but in 1951 she was arrested in a "second wave" of arrests and charged with violation of the Alien Registration Act and sentenced to 5 years at Alderson Women's Penitentiary.
During her sentence she wrote a book entitled
The Alderson Story: My Life as a Political Prisoner (1955).
Soon after her release from prison in 1961, Flynn was elected National Chairman of the Communist Party in the USA. She made several trips to the Soviet Union where in 1964 during a visit she died. She was given a State Funeral in Red Square then returned to be buried with her subversive friends Eugene Dennis, Bill Haywood and the
Haymarket Martyrs.
These are they types of people that we are dealing with. This is the type of beginning that the ACLU was given. This is why they have been focused on ending American traditions and changing the structure of our government as founded in 1789.

Elite Legislators
You may have heard, way back in grade school, that The People of America were supposed to elect people to represent them in government. Heck, if you're under the age of 10, you might actually believe that happens. But, as Jake Jacobson points out, that's not even close to true.
How about a couple clips:
60 percent of the public regards the present level of immigration to be a "critical threat to the vital interests of the United States," compared to only 14 percent of the nation's leadership
When asked a specific question about whether legal immigration should be reduced, kept the same, or increased, 55 percent of the public said it should be reduced, and 27 percent said it should remain the same. In contrast, only 18 percent of opinion leaders said it should be reduced and 60 percent said it should remain the same.
70 percent of the public said that reducing illegal immigration should be a "very important" foreign-policy goal of the United States, compared to only 22 percent of elites.
Go read the rest.
You can see that we, the un-annointed, are too stupid to run our own country -- at least according to those in
royal "elected" office.

It is a shame they feel that way. However, I guess I also disagree with most people. I think the best way to reduce illegal immigration is to allow viable channels to legal immigration.

If, prior to 1776, you'd have asked most "folks" if we should declare independence from the Crown, you'd get a resounding "NO!" So, government by proxy isn't ideal.
I think that most people who have a problem with immigration have issues with people of a certain cultural/ethnic background - so it makes me happy that the "elites" are leading the country in a different direction.

Yeah, well, the comments about "those Mexicans" in my neighborhood would have me challenge your observation. In fact, I find it amazing that our byzantine immigration code is to you sacrosant "law". A "law" that will make it difficult for hard-working, entrepreneural types to get in (I'd bet for every "drunk-driving illegal", there are dozens of business owners who were outside of INS policy at some time in their life); but rather easy for terrorists to arrive on our shores. Most of the 9/11 terrorist were inside the immigration law at the time: . You seem to have no problem challenging policy out of Raliegh and Charlotte (incidentally, I agree with most of the time); but seem to view anyone outside of the Yellow pages-thick immigration code as a dangerous criminal because they aren't following "the law". Would you have thought that Rosa Parks was disturbing the peace and endangering the law-abiding passengers on that bus because she was outside the policy when she chose her seat? That was a policy that most "folks" in her community agreed with and followed. Was it unfortunate that those leaders gave in even when it was probably against the will of the majority at the time?

I support laws that are just and right.
In this case, those who are breaking the law are stealing from me, personally. When them come to this country and steal my money to pay for their medical care, that's wrong. When they come to this country and steal my money to pay for their education, that's wrong.
I support fixing the immigration laws, because they stink right now -- but fixing them will do absolutely nothing now, because the weak ones we have aren't even being enforced.

Web Designer Wanted: $500,000 Pay.
Who says government isn't any good at wasting money any more? The North Carolina government is going to spend half a MILLION dollars to build ONE single department's web site.
In the free market, this kind of site design might go for a couple hundred dollars. I know, because I've seen
the site, and I know what I would bid to "revamp" the site. But no, it's not open for bidding.
They're also paying ANOTHER $500,000 to add a database to the site to list "vacant land and buildings." Apparently the state is not aware that there are already literally HUNDREDS of sites that already list those -- they're called Realtors.
But the Democrat-controlled legislature, in this "cash-strapped" economy, where they have "cut everything to the bone," managed to find $1,750,000.00 to give to friends of friends in the Department of Commerce to "improve the state's image."
It's crap like this that really makes you want to go over to the dark side. I mean, seriously, I could redesign that site in a few hours. I could add the database and make it incredibly impressive in a week or two. And I'd get $1,000,000.00 in taxpayer cash to do it.
But I'd have to sell my soul to the government and be buddies with the
slime legislators in Raleigh.

Ban this, Ban that, Ban Cellphones in NC.
Another moron, oops, I mean "esteemed college professor" has demanded that the legislature of North Carolina ban cell phone use in the car because it's "not safe."
Dr. Dave Kaber found that talking on the cellular phone lowered their math scores by as much as 20 percent -- evidence that he maintains proves they are distracting.
Yes folks, that's your tax dollars at work -- helping to pay the salaries of people who test things that everyone else on the planet knows is completely obvious.
This "doctor" supported legislation last year that would fine drivers $100 for talking on the phone (no estimates on the net income to the state for that one). But the legislation died in a committee. There's no word on when the ban and fine will be expanded to include French Fries.

AP Supports Palensinians
In case you want yet more example of the bias inherent in the press, view this picture posted by the AP. Their caption:

Hamas organized a celebration at Yarmouk refugee camp southern Damascus with participation of 2000 palestinians.(AP Photo / Bassem Tellawi)
A more accurate caption:
Um Nidal, mother of three violent, deadly mass murderers, defends the actions of her mass-murdering children at a cermony marking the 18th anniversary of the founding of a cult formed to exterminate the Jewish people from the face of the earth. The murderous extremist group Hamas organized the rally at a camp of like-minded murderers where 2000 racists who hate America and all Jews gathered.

Sometimes Palestinians call terrorists martyrs but that is also what they call random people who get shot in the Israeli/Terrorist confrontations. Contrary to often spouted opinion, most Palestinians do not engage in terrorist tactics. It only take a few crazies to cause a lot of trouble.

Let's have a bake sale to raise money for airline tickets...but we'll have to ship them from somewhere other than Charlotte since Independence Air just went under, leaving no competition for USAir in Charlotte again.

I guess you could also have peace by killing every Palestinian man, woman and child too.
I think it is interesting that you said AP supports Palestinians instead of AP support terrorist. Don't see that a person can be a Palestinian and not a killer.

True. Palestinian and terrorist are pretty much interchangable...
Posted by: Ogre at January 06, 2006 08:08 PM (/k+l4)

So why not just kill them all.

I never advocating killing anyone. ?

It seems pretty clear from the Hamas rally these “martyr” were really terrorist. I will give you that. Some of these people don’t know what real martyrdom means.
However, it is quite wrong to equate Palestinians with Hamas. Especially since when they were given a chance to have free election, Hamas ran and did badly. It seems your average Palestinian does not think that blowing up random Israelis in shopping centers is a good idea. (They may feel different about Israel soldiers) It would be like saying the United States supports Ross Perot.
I just think that you are to smart to be equating the digesting crimes of some evil criminals with an entire ethnic group.

2004 Election Not Quite Over
While you might remember the ancient history (at least on the internet) that was the 2004 election, it's just not quite over in North Carolina. While in the statewide race the North Carolina Legislature overruled the clear votes of the people and completely ignored rulings of the State Supreme Court to declare their Democrat friend a winner, in another race, things are not yet settled.
At issue is the same problem as with the statewide race that the Democrats settled by ignoring the actual votes of the people and just unilaterally making a decision -- voting out of precinct.
As the State Supreme Court has said at least twice now, the North Carolina Constitution is very clear -- voters MUST vote in their own precinct. In one race for County Commissioner, the Supreme Court also ruled that out of precinct ballots should not be counted.
However, the Democrat-controlled board of elections has continued to ignore the Supreme Court and allowed the Democrat to remain in office while lawsuits continue. The Supreme Court
may be set to rule yet again that out of precinct ballots cannot be counted.
Maybe, just maybe, the 2004 election will be finally settled before the 2006 election starts -- but I'm not holding my breath.

Charlotte Observer Supports Tax Increase
Well, that's about it. Just read the headline here. Of course, for anyone who has actually READ the Charlotte Observer, that's not really news now, is it? The Charlotte Observer seriously is very socialist. They support every socialist idea that's ever existed.
In
this case, they support the increase in gas tax to the 6th highest gas tax rate in the nation. Why? Because they like government spending money and not people. Seriously. They have never, to my knowledge, ever NOT supported any tax increase.
Worse, they lie about it constantly. In the article, they claim that the increased gas tax will be used to repair roads. That's an outright lie. It will not. The majority of funds raised by the gas tax increase (some $74 million) will go into the general fund.
No, it doesn't matter to the Democrat-controlled legislature that the law states that the taxes from gas will be used for road construction -- they vote every year to take tens of millions of tax dollars from gas taxes and toss them in the general fund for things like personal checking accounts for legislatures.
Yes, the Democrat-led North Carolina General Assembly really does stink. And the Charlotte Observer loves them for it.

Public Rally to support Felon
Last week, supporters of a convicted felon Democrat Congressman had a rally to help pay his legal bills. This is the second rally to support the convicted criminal who headed to jail last Friday.
Convicted Democrat Party Leader Frank Ballance is supposed to pay $61,000 in restitution for stealing over $100,000 from the state. But he won't have to pay it if his supporters can raise the money for him. Sure, that's restitution, isn't it?
Why do people support him? Because he is the first congressman who was blatantly and openly racist while in the state legislature, according to his supporters. Even though he stole the $100,000+, they claim he did good things with it -- which makes it okay in their eyes.
Sorry, nothing to read about in the mainstream press, despite the fact that this is a Democrat Party member that was elected to Congress who is CONVICTED of stealing large amounts of money -- they're too interested in reporting about Tom Delay's ALLEGED misdeeds.

Bush Kills Bowler
Ok, I think I've got the hang of being a member of the insanity- reality-based community. Let's give this a shot, shall we?
I saw today that
Ed Lorenz died Wednesday. Now while the news reports claim that Ed died of a heart attack while participating in a sport he truly loved (and had perfected -- Ed had rolled a perfect game just a short time before), that's not the whole story -- at least not according to the MBC (moonbat central).
You see, Ed only died because of Bush. Yes, that's right, it's Bush's fault.
Back in 2002, Bush appointed a man, Phil Nottingham, to the head of the federal government agency on product safety commission -- Phil was the assistant vice-executive in charge of bowling and large-ball sporting events. Phil, however, received campaign donations from "Big Bowling" -- and this clouded his judgment.
In 2004, Tim Filiopotous suggested adding a rule change to the international federal government safety rules regarding bowling and suggested that no bowling balls be allowed that were heavier than 16 ounces -- for the children, of course.
Well, Mr. Nottingham, under heavy pressure from President Bush (due to campaign contributions from "Big Bowling") refused to make that rule change -- and thereby sealed Ed Lorenz' fate. For had he been using a 16 ounce ball, the pressures on his body would have been tremendously reduced and poor Ed would have never had a heart attack in the first place.
So President Bush clearly caused Ed Lorenz' death in Portage, MI.
How's that for moonbattery? Well, it's better than the morons that are
blaming Bush for the miner's deaths -- my version has more logic to it.

Contagion, stop it, you're scaring the children!
And Stevin -- yes, mimes. I don't know how, but I'm sure Bush is to blame for mimes...I shall have to investigate...

BET Runs from Mainstream America
When Black Entertainment Television (BET) was started, no one thought it would succeed. Then it did. It made piles of money by catering to the wants and desires of people who had black skin -- all, somehow, without being racist (can you imagine a White Entertainment Television?).
They were accepted, grew, and became nearly mainstream. But apparently they didn't like being mainstream, as they just
named Loonie Calypso Louis Farrakhan "Person of the Year."
Why? Well because the reality-challenged Farrakhan claimed that blacks were "the indigenous peoples of this hemisphere." Oh, and because he said that blacks should bring a class action suit for "criminal neglect" against the U.S. on behalf of Hurricane Katrina victims.
Instead of picking positive role models, or productive, working people, BET decided to pick a lunatic that can do nothing but race-bait and spend other people's money. Nice job, BET.

Smoke Eater).

Bush Kills Miners
No, the utter and complete hatred of President Bush knows no end for those on the left. Even though as of the writing of this post the fate of the miners trapped in WV is unknown, that doesn't stop complete and utter lunatics from, yes, you guessed it, blaming Bush!!
I really can't believe I'm not making this up. But one Scott Shields is actually blaming their deaths on Bush. He claims that Bush, because of his connections with "Big Coal," did this. Now try and follow the logic:
Bush appointed David Lauriski, an executive with 30 years in the coal industry, to head the Mine Safety and Health Administration. In December, 2001, Mr. Lauriski rejected a change to the rules of mining because if he did, "Big Mining" would donate large amounts of money to President Bush. The rule change would have forced this mine to have created a "second escapeway" from the mine exactly where the trapped workers are located. But since that would cost the mining industry money, the rule was disallowed so the mining industry could give that money to Bush, who would then give the money to Mr. Lauriski as a cash reward. And if that one regulation had passed in 2001, this mine (the Sago Mine) would not have gotten 208 citations in 2005 for safety violations and the trapped miners would have just taken the back glass elevator up to the surface when the mine collapsed.
The entire concept of logical thought is completely lost on the left. Completely.
(H/T to
Michelle Malkin).
Update: The Ugly American
has more on the comments that actually support the Bush blaming during tragedy!

It is far worse than that. At least one Commenter flatly states these miners are getting what they deserved by voting for Bush.
Someone needs to find this guy and beat the living snot out of him.

Well, they're honest -- they really believe that you should die if you voted for Bush. That IS the Democrat position these days.

Don't you love it when the left doesn't even wait until the next day or press release before contradicting themselves? It makes it easy for even the slow to see how silly they sound. But for some reason, the left doesn't see it...

New Advertisers
Once again I would like to introduce a fine blog that has chosen to advertise here at Ogre's Politics and Views. This week it's
What's that about?
It not only features occasional site news and product announcements, but a look into the personal life of the owner, Stephanie Davies. Stephanie hand-makes all of the incense, candles, bath & body products, and other items sold at Mystickal Incense. For this purpose, this is both a personal and business blog. Welcome!
It's very well-designed and easy-to-read with lots of good stuff to read about. And if you like scented soap, you can get over 70 different scented soaps there -- hand made! Neato!
And remember, if you want to rent that space (and get this nifty little plug), you'll have to have a
free BlogExplosion account.
Next up, just below that is the BlogAds section. You can add one of these yourself if you like, just like
Stop the ACLU did. It's really
cheap inexpensive, and once again, you get some "above the fold" advertising and exposure.
Stop the ACLU is a nice place to go when you want some news about the ACLU and what they're doing wrong. And yes, if the ACLU is involved, it probably is wrong. Head on over and see what the latest is -- breaking stories often show up there before many other places in the news or on the web.
And if you're interested in adding your own blogAd, they are only $10 -- just head
over there (link also at the bottom of the ad strip) and add your own ad.
