Do we have any attorney's amongst our horde? It would seem to me that this troll would be considered a stalker or harasser or something to that effect, and that there could be some type of restraining order served that would take care of this crap? Or am I just a freak?

I'm not really sure anything can be done. She's not been "threatening" per se; just unable to accept the fact that she is no longer married to my husband and unable to accept the consequences of her own actions.
I don't know very much about the law (other than my legal assistant specialty, Immigration Law -- LOL) but I would think that because what is posted on a blog is considered "public domain" then she's just as free to search for my page and leave snarky comments as I am to mock her mercilessly for doing so. And that is what I intend to do. If she shows back up -- and I intend to reopen my blog under my real name -- I will ban her, post her IP, mock her -- whatever it takes. She's a freak and she will be publicly declared so. Heh.
If there IS anything that can be done, though, legally speaking, I would be greatful for any advice.

What about a password protected blog? Emily has one, and they're still popular. That way you can check and control those who enter. Also you can have a "temp" login, in case you're not sure of the person, and a "real" login for nice people who miss you, like me.

Password protection would be easy... there are several threads over at the MT Support Forum that explain it... if Margi/Emma is interested, I'd be more than happy to do the research and coding for her.

Actually, a combination password/cookie setting thingy would be ideal... login with password once then have a cookie set so that you didn't need to login after that... I might need some help figuring out how to do that....

I am an attorney, and I am not sure what you can do. However, in many jurisdictions, the close family connections may make "family violence" laws effective in this situation, at least, sufficiently so that you can ask for a protective order.
My troll reappeared today and made a nasty comment. I first changed the tone of it so be supportive of myself, but after thought, decided to just delete it. In either case, I am makin' a strong statement that I am in control of the situation. Trolls feed off of response, because it indicates you actually read what they had to say and got upset enough to react to their words. The most proactive approach is to jes' delete the comment, therefore erasin' their words and givin' them no indication whether they are read or not.
The very best way to deal with any troll is to ignore their communications, and, when you have the control to do so, to delete everythin' they have to say without any comment.

Thanks for your comments, everyone. Madfish? I think I may end up going with WordPress which has moderated comments built-in (and it's free!) but since I've donated to MovableType in the past, I could probably afford to buy the newest version -- eventually.
As for ignoring/deleting comments, I have done that. I intend to keep on doing it. I will have my say, however, because it's high time that this abusive person realizes that she is not going to make a victim out of me. A protective order is a little hard to enforce 1200 miles away. The Internet surely has squeezed the world into a much smaller place, hasn't it? ::: snort :::

I'm still tinkering with MT 3.1, but I'm quite happy for Margi to be our guinea-pig. 
It certainly works, I'm just trying to find the best way to make it available to everyone, and hopefully avoid some of the limitations we currently have with the way I installed MT 2.6.

Slicker n' snot. Fast. No rebuilding.
The only thing I don't like is that it's not as effortless in manipulating uploaded pictures as with MT. Other than that, it's cooler than the other side of the pillow.
I'm up and running. I still have some tweaking to do, so let me know what you think.
