Is there a REALLY reliable and true statistics engine for number of visitors? Sitemeter, she be wrong.
And while I am at it, the links on TTLB and Technorati? They be wrong, too. There are a number of sites that have links to the pages I have checked that DON'T show up on TTLB or Technorati. Why is that? Still trying to make sure I always beat Jim of SBD. Which, according to Sitemeter, I am currently not doing... -H.Posted by: Everydaystranger at 01:37 PM | Comments (24) | Add Comment | Trackbacks (Suck)

Of course, if you absolutely want to see how reliable SiteMeter's stats are, check this chart. Accordin' to every other possible way to check how much traffic I am gettin', there is no way I have had no visitors from 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. I have been noticin' this trend for several days, where durin' several periods of the day, SiteMeter is showin' no traffic on any kind for hours.
Oh, and speakin' of comments, heck, even Harvey gets more comments that I do. I guess everyone is laughin' too hard at my feeble attempts at bloggin' to stop and tell me whether they enjoyed what I had to say or what? I even ask questions, and no one answers them. It is frustratin' to be sure, but then, we can't all be Susie, can we?

One thing, though, and very confusing... the errors page... where can I find explanations of why there would be errors, or what such and such means?
And while I'm asking questions, what is a normal amount of bandwidth useage?

It appears to me that the way we Munuvians typically link each other of the blogroll -- using Madfish Willie's java script -- winds up having us not get credit for the fifty-plus Munuvia links. I know I'm not being linked by most of you guys, and I'm linking you, but the fact that the links are generated by java and not actually therefore embedded on our homepages means that Technorati and The Truth Laid Bear don't register them.
How about we all just cut and paste our blog rolls, rather than using Madfish Willie's (admittedly convenient) java script blogroll, so that we can all immediately boost our links by 50 or more?
If I'm wrong about the reason links aren't showing up on Technorati or TTLB, just ignore me. But I think I'm right.

It's really bothering me right now, because I'm thisclose to levelling up on The Truth Laid Bear. And when I level up, I get to boost my Strength to 19 and my Dexterity to 21.

Pixy: Is there a way to display only the cPanel counter on our sites?

In any event, would anyone else be willing to consider doing a text-in-the-template blogroll?
I'll write the thing up (or cut and paste it, whichever). I'm not asking anyone else to do any work.
Apart from adding it to the template, I mean.
Just wondering. Seems silly to lose all those delicious links.

1) Click the link in the sidebar for the blogroll. In that post there is code for the blogroll. Copy the http address and paste it into your address bar. The source text will display. Copy that into text editor, do a global search & replace on the extra stuff. Copy the results into your Main Index Template.
2) Go to one of the MuNu sites. Pull up the source code via the View menu. Scroll down till you find the blogroll. Copy & Paster into your Main Index Template.
Now that I've just written this, I see Pixy's much better solution. D'oh!

After reviewing my ecosystem stats, I've discovered a little quirk. The ecosystem script counts links on the main page of your blog. I noticed that I had a bunch of links from Harvey and Eric and Susie. Many more than any post pings or site links. Then, it hit me. The roll-down comments are actually on the front page, being hidden until you click the show comments link. So my comments on all the sites with the roll down scripts installed are being counted as links back the MFWCS, as long as I enter the URL in the personal information blocks. I haven't taken the time yet to see if it only counts 1 comment per thread, but I assume it is counting only unique URLs per post and would discard comments 2,,3,4... Plus it counts links to my subsites - MadLab and HammerHead.
Not trying to "game the system", just something I discovered.
