More September birthdays

Looking at the calendar--as well as talking to the gf--I realized 9 of our ten rats has a September birthday. Pinky is one today; Kono, Metro, and Leather will be one on the 11th, Calle, Olie, and Cinammon Schwartz will be one on the 26th, and Bob and Curly, while we're not sure of the exact day, will be three this month.

Witter is the lone non-September rat. He's 18 months this month.

I'll be sure to post pix of the birthday party at Publius & Co.

1 But what is that in rat years?

2 What's the gestation period for a rat? Does this correspond to some rat holiday?

Posted by: Ted @ at September 08, 2003 02:00 AM

3 Gestation is 21 to 24 days. Rats can reproduce at five weeks.

In human years, one rat year is about forty human. Lifespan is 24 to 30 months on average, so we're very excited Bob and Curly made it to three.

I've got to do a "What do you know...about rats" for Jennifer soon.

7 Hello Katie. Thank you for asking about your rats.

We had a b-day party for our rats, with blueberry muffins iced with blueberry yogurt, and peas and blueberries for them to snack on. All of our girls are spayed, so the boys got to play with the girls (their sisters, for the most part). Two of our boys are alone rats, so they came out after everyone else did, singly, and got to eat their own treats afterward.
