MT is Editing My Posts.

Pixy knows about this, so I suspect there's little to be done (because Pixy can fix everything), but basically my blog refuses to post anything over 8-10 lines.

So I'm writing what tends to look like blog haiku. But it's been about a week, and my frustration is starting to build.

Please help before I turn back to being a serial killer.

1 Not sure what testing you've already done, but if you haven't already tried these:

- try a regular length post to your blog. Confirm it fails to post. Immediately attempt to post the same thing here on Munuviana. Tell us the result?

- create a new author on your blog. Attempt to post the same too long post as new author, and tell us the result.

- have you tried posting from different browser versions?

Exactly what happens when you can't post. Error dialogue? Time out?

What OS are you running? Browser version?

It's just, the more of us know exactly what's happening (or not) the better chance someone might recognise the cause.

Oh yea, and if you're going back into the serial killing business, can I aim you at a few deserving targets?

2 I have no idea what's going on, but I don't think it's Movable Type that's the problem. After all, all the other Munus are using the same copy of MT, and hardly any of them have turned into serial killers.

It looks like some bizarre interaction of... thingies.

What I might suggest is using a blogging program like Ecto instead of your browser.

Can you post anything longer in Munuviana, or do you get the same problem?

3 I just attempted to post the same medium-size post (three short paragraphs) that my own blog keeps rejecting. Natually, it didn't like it, so I came over here and made the same attempt. Result:

"Safari can't open the page.

Safari can’t open the page “http://blog.mu.nu/cgi/mt.cgi” because it could not load any data from this location."

Nothing new.

4 (I'm also being limited in how long my comments are; this is a continuation of the comment above)

I'm using System 10.3.7, and running Safari. Though I did try to post using Explorer, and it was no dice that way, either. (Slightly different phrasing on the error message.)

5 I also created a new author in my weblog, and attempted to post the same thing over at Little Miss Attila. Wouldn't work. (Same error message:

Safari can't open the page.

Safari can’t open the page “http://blog.mu.nu/cgi/mt.cgi” because it could not load any data from this location.

Perhaps someone has a voodoo doll of my computer, and is sticking pins into it?--that's not very nice of them.

6 I suspect that your computer is kerflugelated. (A technical term meaning that there is something wrong with it.) For all I can tell, your voodoo doll thing could be right.

Try downloading Ecto and see if that works.

The other thing I can do is give you an MT3 login and see if that works better. I'll do that now and email you.

7 Ask someone else (e.g. Pixy) to try posting to your blog. If it works, then it's your computer.

8 Uh, yeah, that's a thought. Okay if I give it a go?

Posted by: Pixy Misa @ at September 21, 2005 03:10 PM

9 Of course (sorry--slight case of work this week created a delay getting back here).

See if you can find a 10-line poem or something--it has to be that or a respectable-size paragraph to trigger THE PROBLEM.

Thanks!
